Green Planet Heating and Air - New heat pump installation in Encino, CA

    Green Planet Heating and Air

    (199 reviews)

We inherited an old 2009 Trane AC unit situated on a rooftop platform that wasn't up to code. After…read moresome research, we decided to switch to a ground-mounted heat pump. Green Planet provided a very competitive quote and handled the complex installation flawlessly. The Quote: They offered a high-quality product at a reasonable price, even with the added scope of electrical work. They also handled the permit process, which was essential for our rebates. Initial Inspection: We worked with Jay, who was professional and incredibly thorough. Unlike others, he took the time to properly inspect our electrical panel, furnace, and attic space. The Process: The project took about four days total over a two-week span (two days for installation, plus one afternoon each for the HERS and City inspections). Green Planet scheduled all inspections for us, making it stress-free. Heat Pump: We got the AC Pro XB Series heat pump. Specs met all rebate requirements for max refund. Payment: The schedule was fair--a $1k deposit, 50% upon delivery, and the final balance once the unit was installed. Paperwork: They provided all paperwork necessary for heat pump rebate. Green Planet was a great choice in term of product and service, and I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for a heat pump installation.

So Cal Air - Life is GOOD

I had four different companies come out to provide estimates for branching off an existing HVAC…read moresystem to add a new supply vent to an interior room. Robert handled the initial evaluation and was very thorough and professional. Although So Cal Air's estimate was not the cheapest, it was the most comprehensive--including drywall patching and painting--which ultimately made me feel the most comfortable moving forward with them. Other companies either tried to upsell me on a UV lighting system or suggested opening up the entire hallway ceiling, which felt excessive for the scope of work. After accepting the estimate, there was a delay of over two weeks before I was contacted to schedule the service, and I do think communication during that time could have been improved. That said, once they reached out, they were able to schedule the work for the very next day. Victor and his crew were professional and efficient, completing the job in about half a day. They left the space clean, and the overall quality of work met my expectations. Thank you, So Cal Air!

I would highly recommend So Cal Air to anyone looking for honest, thorough HVAC service. This is…read morethe second time I've used them this year, and I couldn't be happier. Last month, they fixed a relay switch that -- with some adjustments -- started working again. The technician noted the part in case the problem returned, rather than just replacing it outright. I was happy they saved me the unnecessary expense AND conveniently noted the part so I could just call if it happened again. Since that first visit went so well, I scheduled my yearly spring maintenance with them. I always have my HVAC serviced every March, but I can say that David (I think it was David) did a noticeably more thorough job than I've experienced in past years. This appointment reinforced what I already thought - that I would certainly reach out to So Cal Air for any HVAC issues I have again. Fingers crossed I don't though!

    BIG H & A - Furnace ignitor replacement

Had a broken LG washing machine and used this company twice for assessment and repairs. They…read moreresponded very quickly both times and were accommodating of my schedule. Their cost for assessing the issues was very reasonable and they were willing to recommend replacement of the machine instead of insisting on a repair that would have exceeded the cost of replacement. I would highly recommend them!

I want to start by saying that our initial experience with this company was great. The technician…read morethey sent to repair our washer and fridge fixed both issues without any problems and at a fair price. Because of that positive experience, we called them again when our dryer stopped working and our dishwasher flooded. The technician who came out the second time seemed knowledgeable, but he spent an unusual amount of time talking about his personal life, previous work history, and education. It felt as though he was trying to prove his qualifications. While it was a bit odd, we allowed him to assess the issues. He told us the dryer vent needed to be cleaned or replaced. Regarding the dishwasher, I don't recall the exact issue, but he performed a repair and quoted us prices for both jobs, which we agreed to. He returned on another day to complete the work. He went into our attic and told us he had cleaned something related to the dryer vent and that the dryer should work as long as we did not overload it. He also stated verbally AND IN THE RECEIPT that the dryer duct had been replaced. However, when we later moved and checked behind the dryer ourselves, we found a broken duct that had not been replaced. He mentioned that the dryer needed additional parts and said he would return to complete the repair. At that point, however, we were uncomfortable and did not want this specific technician to come back. To this day, the duct has still not been replaced. We called and requested a different technician. The new technician stated that the issue might be mechanical and that repairing the internal components would cost between $600-$800. For comparison, a brand-new LG 4.5 Cu. Ft. High Efficiency Stackable Front Load Dryer retails for $699.99. When I asked why I would spend that much on repairs instead of purchasing a new unit, I did not receive a clear explanation. I do not typically leave negative reviews, but this experience has been frustrating and disappointing. Based on our second experience, I cannot recommend this company. I am leaving two stars only because the first technician did a good job. Im sure there will be a comeback from the owner as well. That's ok; this was me and my girlfriends honest experiences and opinions.

SOLENERGY - Solar panels on Multi-Million dollar Dr.'s residence.

    SOLENERGY

I've used Solenergy for a number of years for HVAC related work for my home and at a rental…read moreproperty. I've always appreciated their responsiveness, attention to detail, and reasonable rates. With the continuously increasing electricity rates by GWP, I turned to Solenergy for a rooftop solar panel quote. For a number of reasons, I did not want to lease a system and end up having another payee every month for the next 20 some years (in addition to GWP). I also didn't want someone else to "own" my roof for the life of the system, which would not be favorable if/when I chose to sell my home. Rafi, the owner, came out and took extensive measurements of my roof and noted the slopes and heights of parapet walls. My roof is quite complex as I have a 55-degree slope in some parts and "flat" portions that slope in one or up to 3 directions. I also provided him with 12-months' worth of utility bills so he could analyze my usage. The next time we met, he had calculated the number of panels I needed (37) and had superimposed them on aerial photos of my roof. Final placement though was subject to some shading/shadow analysis he said he'd have to do along with approval by the city and fire dept. His final quote included the system cost along with my expected GWP rebate and tax credit ("verify with your accountant"). I was particularly concerned about holes being made in my roof and the risk of water leaks. Rafi showed me the different types of anchors/brackets that he was going to use for the flat portions and the sloped portions of the roof. He wasn't dismissive of my concerns whatsoever and thoroughly explained how the anchors worked and why I should not worry about leaks. The quality of the parts was readily apparent to this former engineer. After approval and permits were obtained by Rafi, he began installation. It all went very smoothly. Rafi did some parts of the job by himself and brought in crew members for other aspects (wire runs and panel installs). I told him my goal was to have the install completed before January 1st. Occasionally, I would go onto the roof to check out the progress and Rafi would explain the system and what I was looking at. He completed the job in late December and the city inspector signed off and approved everything on 12/31/14! GWP installed the solar meter about 1 week later and it's been wonderful watching my GWP utility meter turn backwards (digital arrow moving towards the left)! I'm very happy with the work done by Solenergy. Rafi is very detail oriented and committed to doing a top quality job. When he couldn't work on my roof due to rain, he would make material runs and then work over the weekend (weather permitting). The heavy rains and strong winds we had this December also allowed me to see first-hand that none of the anchors caused roof leaks and the installation was rock solid - just as Rafi had assured me. The areas surrounding my house were always kept clean and tidy throughout the job. I also purchased a monitoring system that allows me to check the kWh produced during the day. Rafi delivered what he promised and I highly recommend him and Solenergy!
