My experience with the Service Department was less good. On a Tuesday mid day, I arrived with my vehicle via tow truck right in front of the service department. In full view of the tow truck and of me getting out of it, the two employees at the main service desk main were enjoying their Chipotle, probably for lunch. One of them stopped long enough to asked if there was something I needed help with. Umm, no I'm just looking...really. They proceeded to point to their left and said see Bob. Fortunately there were names on the office cube things. Bob was enjoying his lunch as well. Did I somehow miss the sign that said they were closed for lunch? The doors were all open, cars were coming in and out, various other employees were milling about. Perhaps they don't get lunch break, or maybe the place doesn't have a proper place for their staff to take a break. Anyway, my initial thoughts and impressions were confirmed. This place is indifferent about customers and customer service is going to be substandard. Bob jotted my contact information and in between bites Bob, matter of factly, told me they would try and take a look at it that day and if not sometime on Wednesday. Apparently they got around to it and Bob called me around 5 pm and said it would be a couple of days to get parts. After a day and a half or so I called to check on things since it's a company car, I have a rental car, I live an hour away, and my work is such that I am only in that area every 4-6 weeks and I need to schedule accordingly. I had no luck after several attempts at getting ahold of the Service Advisor, Bob. I proceeded to leave a couple voicemails and even the lady that answered the main phone said she would message the service advisors. On Friday morning I called and just asked for anyone in the Service Department to take my call. All I needed is an idea of when it will be done so I can plan accordingly. The guy that answered looked into it rather quickly. Hmm...he didn't even have to ask my name...I'm guessing their phone system is relatively sophisticated and maybe it's one with caller ID, indicates who called and even if one has a voicemail. He stated that my fleet company "just approved the repairs" which was Friday morning and they'd do the repairs on Monday. Come on man...if they would've let me know that as early as Wednesday morning or even just called me back Thursday, I would've had our fleet manager give approval within minutes. After all it's just a new battery, new battery cable and some sort of sensor Now I have a rental over the weekend, have to arrange my schedule to be in the Akron area again on Monday. The good thing is, it will be the last time I deal with this dealership and service department again. FYI the Subaru dealership near Cleveland d fantastic, very customer focused. They even plug in the OBD scanner you get out of the car so they have an idea of what errors codes the car's computer is showing. Save yourself some aggravation and take your vehicle somewhere else. read more

What started as a phone call ended with a 2 car deal. I have only driven Fords for the past 30 years, since they no longer make a sedan it was time for a change. I called in to see what car was comparable to my Fusion. Gwen Pister answered the call and was able to give me the answers I needed. There was no hemming or hawing. She new her products and suggested the Subaru Legacy. I new I needed to meet her and work out a deal. So my wife and I drove from Solon to Akron. BTW my son was also in the market. We test drove the Legacy and new it was the right car. Our son lives in Columbus and test drove 1 in his area. Because of Gwen's professional attitude, her demeanor, and her sales manager "David" what started out as a 1 car deal turned out to be a 2 car deal. The dealership took my counteroffer and then did not respond to me until I received a text several hours later that the vehicle was sold. Well with the exception of the head unit (radio etc.) the 2018 Outback seems to be a good vehicle. Took delivery at the end of January 2018. About 3 days in the head unit started acting up, radio stations not saving, stuck initializing, Apple Car Play not connecting to complete system lock up to finally a dead unit. 13k miles. Plagued with intermittent failures. The service department doesn't demonstrate an ability to understand the problem and the customers frustration of this particular component becoming inoperable. They make excuses, blame Subaru, Harmon Kardon and for the problems. The service department from top to bottom is either complacent or incompetent. Subaru has a problem with these head units, we all know that. This particular dealership is exasperating the the the problem exponentially. While the buying experience was great the service department is doing a disservice to both customers and to the dealership. I'll be moving my business. read more

Ask for Jose. He wasn't a salesman. It felt like a buddy of mine was patiently explaining all that he knows about cars and speaking to my family's needs as we shopped. Like, he was selling me one of his own cars and wanted the best thing for me. He cleared a Saturday, spent hours with us, and magically produced the perfect car that so many dealerships struggled to find. He was patient and productive. When all was said and done, he knew what my family needed better than I did. Additionally, Deb in financing doesn't pressure you and makes all of the confusing paperwork easy to understand. It sounds like a joke, but we were lucky to need a car because we got to work with these great people. read more

I unfortunately have now had two mistakes made to my vehicle while servicing at Subaru over the last few years. Most recently my simple oil change lead to the leaking out of the majority of my oil and my husband having to fix it in order for me to get to work the next day. The service department did attempt to make it right by redoing the oil change while providing a rental and filling my gas tank. Although a nice gesture, I have lost all trust in this service department and will not be returning. The only reason this review isn't one star is the phenomenal sales department. I've never had such a great experience buying a car before and will never purchase from anyone other then Casey at Serra again. read more

After buying a new Outback in the spring I had my first experience with the service department today. It didn't go well. I called last week to make an appointment for an oil change/tire rotation and to have them look at a couple other minor things. I delayed my appointment until the next Monday because that was the first date a loaner was available. I needed a loaner because I am a transplant recipient, which means even though I have been vaccinated I am still at risk for covid and I didn't feel comfortable hanging out around people in the waiting room. When I checked in (a process that took 20+ minutes which is another issue) I was told they didn't have me signed up for a loaner. Fortunately the person found a loaner for me but made sure to let me know that I would have been "out of luck" if he hadn't come through. He then told me since I had a loaner car he would need to move me to the back of the line for service and my car might not be done until around 6:00pm. Possibly 8 hours for an oil change and some other minor issues??? Why have an appointment at 10 am if you get moved to the end of the line?? When I explained that I was told on the phone the service would only take a couple of hours he told me the girl I spoke to was a "blithering idiot." Very unprofessional at best. I called my salesman and explained all this to him. While he was sympathetic I have not yet heard an apology from anyone in service. My car was finally done at 4:00. 6 hours for an oil change and a few computer checks! All in all a very disappointing experience. read more

I had a great time with the loaner I was given but when I had asked a simple yes or no question with the front desk/reception, I immediately felt that she was hostile. The older lady was snippy with me when I had conversed with her, which was SUPER unfortunate since I loved the connection with the service team. THAT type of behavior is how you immediately lose customers! Why would I waste more time with literally the 30th person who is supposed to help me when all the past 29 failed to help, most demonstrated that they didn't even care that they didn't help? All you want is to save your online rating. Where were you all those times I called the dealership and could not reach anyone knowledgeable and helpful? Now my battery is failing on my 2 month old car!!!??? I called the help line in the car to find out how far help would be from me when it died and after transfers and holds and managers and told to try dealer instead, all that guy could say is, "our average national response time is one hour." He looked up me and my location before he would consent to help me and then just gave me the generic corporate line about averages, which does me no good!!! My car is my baby so the rebuild horror stories online had me a little worried. I had a long conversation with Jeremiah and he took the time to thoroughly answer all of my questions and concerns without once making me feel like a bother. (A big issue I've had with other dealerships!) He even helped to get needed paperwork transferred to their location that Ganley was refusing to release to me - on my own car! I had a great experience buying my 2010 Forester three years ago, and I've had consistently good service since then. Friday at 4 pm, my rear-view mirror detached from the windshield. Obviously it is not safe to drive like that, so I called and asked if they could get me into service on Saturday, but of course they were booked solid. They said bring it in at 8 am and they'd squeeze me in when they could. Potentially I could have been sitting in the waiting area until 4 pm. They were done by 8:30 am! received a $20 coupon in the mail right after getting home from paying $81 for an oil change called them to see if they would be kind enough to honor the coupon and they refused to help me During my wait for an oil change there was a woman in the waiting room who did not have a tire protection package from Serra Subaru and they fixed her tire for her for no charge. Not sure why they decided not to honor a $20 coupon they sent out in the mail but I will not be getting my oil changes there again ever and will not be buying another car from them in the future I hope they enjoyed saving $20. read more

I have dealt with multiple dealerships in the past. Serra is the best by a wide margin. They went above and beyond even what I asked in preparing my new car before I left the dealership. Also, when I go in for service they never try to needlessly upsell me. There was another gentleman sitting next to me in the lounge waiting for his car that was being serviced. The service tech walked in and asked him about a scratch on his driver side door. The man told the tech that his four year old son got over zealous with his sidewalk chalk and used it on his car door leaving behind a large obvious and ugly scratch. The tech told the man that the detailer was there and with his permission would buff the scratch out of the paint at no additional charge to the oil change he was there for if he was willing to wait. The owner of the car agreed and had his paint fixed for no charge. I have never experienced a dealership like this one. They always put the customer first in my experience and they find new ways to surprise and impress me every time I go in there. They even give customers who purchase a new car in addition to a full tank of gas already in the car, a $25 gas card just for the customer allowing a specialist at the dealership to explain all the technology and features equipped in the car they just purchased so they have a firm grasp on what's available to them in their new car. My 2018 impreza is the first car I have purchased from this dealer, but before this car I had a 2015 impreza purchased from Falls Motor City that I had serviced here. My experience with the service department was what brought me here when I wanted a new car and I will never in the future go to any other dealership. I'm a Serra customer for life!!! read more
