If you want to get ripped off, lgo to Vandevere Kia and they may even destroy your car if they work on it. That's what they did to my Sportage, when they confused it with the car i had before it. All i wanted was an oil change and they put way too much oil i n it causing the engine to fail. Too bad i have no proof as to that's why the engine failed, but it did right after i got their oil change. read more

Nice people but make sure you do a price comparison on services. VanDevere's service. prices are higher than other dealers and the Warranty Forever is a real headache to getting things paid for and fixed. You will have to do a lot of work if there is a dispute so make sure you have all of your paperwork together. VanDevere will call you to schedule your service appts to keep you warranty active but keep in mind they try to schedule it a month or more earlier than needed. If you do it then you'll actually pay for more oil changes so just use their notice as a heads up only. Also keep in mind that they will NOT notify you if the warranty has been cancelled due to missing your oil change by a day or two. That happened to someone I know and for years they kept up with an aggressive none manufacturer but Warranty Forever recommended schedule. I also suggest double checking your oil levels after an oil change. The last two times, my car has run really low on oil about two- four weeks after an oil change. When I replace the oil, the level stays fine until my next oil change. Not sure why that happened so I'm watching to see if my car which is older is burning that much more oil or if it just didn't get filled all the way back up. I have not had any problems prior to the last two times. read more

They'll start off by saying "oh well 500+ a month is the best we can do, times are different and you can definitely get that price down, just put four or five thousand down!" An absolute joke for a customer with a 830 credit score. Went 10 miles away and got a higher trim model vehicle for over 300 dollars less a month with ZERO down! Service Customers: BEWARE! Purchased 4 new tires from this location September 2022, 5 year / 85k warranty. All was great, 4-5 oil changes through 2023. In July of 2023, they completed an oil change and "full inspection" on the vehicle. They offered an alignment but stated they'd have to keep until next day, and I was leaving for a vacation so I pushed back to my next oil change and they stated that was fine. All inspection notes are marked as green (including tires). Fast forward to October 2023, I notice both of my rear tires are showing wires and leaking air on the inside of the tire, close to the body of the car. Tire warranty wouldn't cover as they stated it was the Dealership's failure to take action MONTHS prior. Keep in mind, they did offer and declined but they stated it was no big deal as the inspection was perfectly fine. I go into the Service Dept, they are aggressively pushing that it falls to me as they offered and I declined. I assure you, I would've completed had they said anything like "Hey, you need to get this done ASAP because your tires are wearing oddly". I ask to speak to the Supervisor - it went from "it'll be a few minutes", to "he's in a meeting, it'll be a few hours". That's okay! I have time today my friend! And then after a while of waiting, "he's actually out for the day". Spectacular. They wouldn't cover anything - I'll keep the representative's name out of this, but he told me plain as day "sometimes we miss things because we inspect the tires when you pull it in, and they don't look when they have the vehicle on the lift". Read that 5 times, and then once more. When you pull in, they turn your wheel over to inspect the front, and maybe the outside of the back tires, which is essentially 60-70% of the real inspection. I paid ~$600 for two tires after paying $1k the year prior, because I drive a lot for work. The bottom line is this: this location will put your vehicle, your family's vehicle, your child's vehicle back on the road without truly taking note of potential issues. This literally could have resulted in me totaling my vehicle and who knows who else's due to negligence on basic inspection and what, saving time? Protect your vehicle, your loved ones and your wallet - find another location to get services completed. They accepted that this could have been / should have been caught in July but took no responsibility and certainly didn't try to make it right; simply "that's tough, good luck". I'm unsure how this is even legal but I have not the time nor the patience to pursue anything past warning other people. Do not take your vehicle here if you value your belongings and your life. I can handle poor customer service, shady leadership in the building avoiding tough conversations, EVEN accepting that this isn't going to be made right - but failure to complete your duties when ultimately we trust business like these to ensure that our vehicles are safe to drive, that I can't do. The one positive mention I have to conclude is; they did shuttle me to and from my house after servicing once more. This was kind. For a number of years, I have enjoyed my Mercedes SLK 350. Each time I drop off the SLK for service, I am treated as though I am the most important customer in the world. I am never talked down to. Never interrogated if I am not completely satisfied with a repair. A day or two later the Service Dept. calls to check if I am completely satisfied. It is easy to give the Mercedes dealership a score of 10/10. My city driving car is a 2022 Kia Soul Turbo. I love this car too. Unfortunately, the treatment by the Service Dept. at Vandevere Kia in Akron, pales in comparison. There was an issue the minute I drove the SOUL off the lot after a recent service visit. Upon returning home, I called their Service Dept. and did not hear back for one hour. Unlike the Mercedes dealership, the Service Dept. rep was harsh and accusatory. In short, if I wanted the issue fixed, it was up to me to assume responsibility. That night, I emailed the manager of the Vandevere Service Dept. as instructed. It's been three days and no response. I found these words on their website. "Our team is motivated to do right by customers like you, to put your needs ahead of our own, and to act with honesty and integrity." We test drove a different model and went through all the details. We made a deal and when the new car arrived, my husband was able to come with me. VanDevere has lost me as a loyal customer. After leasing two vehicles and sending a referral to them to buy a vehicle, they tried dishonestly putting in a $1000 "market adjustment" into my lease buyout was good practice. Had I not noticed it in the quotes and found my original paperwork that showed the exact dollar amount of my residual for buyout I would have never known. When I questioned this price I was called by the "Sales Manager" Mack Gilchrist, who proceeded to lecture me on the pandemic and how the owners had directed them to include this "adjustment" in all lease buyouts and how somehow I was the only one of "hundreds" to even question it. I asked how they felt it was ethical to add a fee given I had a signed, legal contract stating my buyout was an exact dollar amount, and he proceeded to gaslight me about prices of groceries and if I still bought food. As if I had a contract with Giant Eagle for the price of milk? When I informed him that he would be losing me as a customer for this, he just proceeded to tell me other dealerships were going to charge $3000. I told him I was going to explore my options and literally the first two Kia dealerships I spoke to, the first had a $500 mark up and the other did not add any fees to buyouts. So needless to say, I did my buyout through KIA OF BEDFORD with the help of Matt Bystricky. They gave me a great deal on my buyout, treated me with respect and they will now get all of my future business and will be getting my referrals. I had to apologize to my friend who I referred to them and share my story with them. All lease buyout people, PLEASE READ YOUR BUYOUT DETAILS CLOSELY AT VANDEVERE. This is an absurd and dishonest practice. I look forward to discussing this experience with Kia Finance. Lastly, just to put an exclamation point on this horrific experience, upon looking at the Vandevere website, I confirmed Mack had even given me a false last name. Told me his last name was "Gill." I'd give a ZERO star rating if I could. If you want to have your time wasted go to Van Devere in Akron. Don't be fooled by their lifetime warranty on parts and labor, it doesn't make up for the fact their departments don't communicate and they like to play the bait and switch game that gives every dealership a bad name. First we scheduled an appt to drive a Kia Sportage Hybrid a couple days after doing research. Finally the day arrived. We get a text AND a phone call reminding us of our appointment to drive the vehicle. We get there after a half hour drive to the dealership and even though we have an appt no one is available for 10 mins to see us. Then we have to walk to the Buick side because the Kia folks are too busy, followed soon after, we're told they need to make sure the vehicle that was on their website is even there, but it's not. So far so bad. Well they find one for us, and we breathe a sigh of relief, until they say we need to check to make sure it's not already sold. Of course it's sold, so now we're told they have no vehicle for us to drive. I get up and my wife and I start to walk out as they are trying to apologize for their incompetence, unprofessionalism and clear lack of interdepartmental communication. After driving away my phone rings and Rich tries to offer an excuse that these cars sell so fast that we need to understand this. Then proceeds to try to convince me to come back because they have now miraculously found a vehicle for us to test drive. I told him why would we come back after the way we were treated with no communication to us and them being completely unprepared for our appointment. His excuse making continued in a very sad and pathetic manner until I finally told him there's nothing he could say or do to ever get me back there and I would make sure all my friends and neighbors knew to never go to this dealership unless they felt like having their very important personal time completely wasted. Just a completely unprofessional experience from the first minute we walked in that place. Buyer beware of this place unless you want the old fashioned snake oil sales experience. Bait and switch dealership. Lies about having inventory of vehicle advertised. I called ahead and was also confirmed via email that vehicles advertised were in stock. I was told I needed to come in to start the paper work process to secure the vehicle before it was sold and that several more vehicles were due to arrive within the next couple weeks if the ones on the lot didn't meet my needs. Once you're there they say that they are out of cars, that only a few are expected to arrive in about a month but will more likely be several months and that since they are selling cars several thousand dollars over invoice due to market demands they won't honor the advertised lease deals. I believe that's called false advertisement. Don't advertise a deal if you're not going to honor it. Bunch of crooks! Avoid this dealership at all cost. read more

I went to purchase a new Telluride, got a very nice salesman, and I thought I was well on my way . As it turns out the salesman, David Figueroa, was apparently not as eager as he sounded. He was supposed to call me at home the following business day to secure a a small non-refundable deposit, to order a car and start my 3 to 6 month wait for delivery. I waited and waited and waited some more, all I got were screen shots from his phone of paperwork I already had. So I called him, he said he needed to call me back in 5 minutes. Well that 5 minutes turned into 6 days. I finally went to another dealership, took a test drive, which Vandevere could not do for me, and gave my deposit on a brand new Kia Telluride, straight from the assembly plant , in 5 weeks. As usual you buy a car me they are super nice to you but once you walk out the door that attitude goes right with you. I purchased a 2019 Subaru Outback. Nice car super low miles but a day or two after I got it home I noticed what looked like a big scrape on the passenger's side door and it felt rough like it needed buffed out. I went back to the dealer and was basically told nothing we can do because you could have done that yourself. It's hard to believe their detail people could have missed this since they detailed the car before I picked it up or since it was so unnoticeable they just left it and figured no one would see it until it was too late. Regardless like I said that what can we do for you attitude goes away as soon as you drive your car off the lot. I will never buy here again. I would return the car if I could. read more

I own a 2022 Kia Sportage. I had lost the second key and needed another key and took it to Kia for the replacement. While I was there, I was advised that the battery went dead while the car was on the rack, and when they tested it that it was at 0% health. Odd for a car that's so new. Also, very odd that there was no symptoms of a bad battery until the car arrived at the dealership. I was not going to buy a Dealer battery that was double the price of anywhere else so I took it to an auto shop and they tested the battery that was in it and it had 100% battery health not zero. So I was lied to by the dealership my Kia does not need a new battery. They just wanted to extort $300 from me. Avoid this dealership and go somewhere else that believes in honesty and doesn't try to get every last cent out of their customers when they already got $500 for a replacement key. This is why dealerships have a bad name. read more

Although I didn't buy my Kia Soul here, this dealership has always been extremely great about oil changes and any repairs needed. They get me in quickly for service and even provide a ride home and back if my car has repairs that will take a while. They have a comfortable waiting area where you can work if needed, too, with WiFi connection. read more

Ran through all the programs that came with my new purchase such as Warranty Forever which is a big plus. He even gave me information to help raise my credit score also from making payments on my car. I had stopped in for a quick check up on my vehicle & to my surprise John came up to me to see how was the car doing, etc. This dealership is a 3.5 for the back room experience I had to deal with finalizing, but John's performance was a 5/5 & as a salesman he's someone I would recommend. read more

The reason the average consumer HATES car shopping are stories like this. I went to Vandevere Kia in Akron today as I have 3 months left on my Kia Seltos lease. I had previously stopped to test drive and get some numbers from Kia of Streetsboro. I worked with a salesman Dave a couple times this past month trying to get into a new lease for a Kia Sorento. I found the PERFECT version that I was looking for so we immediately started to talk numbers. From the moment I sat down, I explained to Dave I needed two things: 15k miles/year and under $500 payment with nothing down but my trade in equity of $3500. Dave came back with two different offer sheets of $525+. I explained that I truly like my car and I can just buy it outright instead if we can't hit a number. My current payment of $261/month is a far jump to anything over $500, so I needed to stay under that mark. Dave comes back from the manager one last time and brings back a sheet that has hand written notes in bright green marker. "$479 per month with $479 down!" BOOM! I was so pumped! I only asked if he would roll the $479 down into the lease and they said no problem. So now were at $494 per month and I couldn't be happier. We start paperwork. Take off plates. Remove keys. Download the app and register new car into the app, etc. An hour later, I finally get to finance. The first thing finance shows is $494 per month with ONLY 12k miles/year. I immediately asked for Dave to come back and show me where it ever went to 12k miles. It was always 15k miles. On the original printed sheet they presented me, it said 15k miles. He told me it would be an additional $19 per month for the extra miles. I told him my goal was to come here with a $500 payment in mind and that I had $6 bucks if they wanted to do $500 per month for 15k miles or else I would walk. After a few minutes with his manager, they would not budge. So I walked. I unregistered the new car on the app. Put the plates back on. Added my keys back to my keyring, etc. Whoever it was, tried to pull a fast one. Reducing the miles to hit my price point without ever showing me (until finance) is the type of maneuver that makes people not want to deal with sales associates and dealers in general. 24 years ago I bought my first car from Vandevere. In that time, I have bought 4 additional of my own and (3 more for family relatives). The manager asked me in 1999 before I walked out, if I would give repeat business in the future and I told him absolutely. 7 cars later, I have kept my word. I will not buy another car from Vandevere Kia in Akron, OH. I have two sons close to driving age and as wife's car whose lease is up soon. We will not be back. They wanted to lose a car deal (with half of the paperwork signed) over $13 per month. Not only did they lose this car deal, but they lost multiple car purchases over the next 30+ years over shady practices. It's like going to Best Buy, saying you have $500 for a 60" TV, finalizing a deal and learning you bought a 40" TV. Last time I will step foot into Vandevere Kia in Akron. I hope this review helps prevent future misleading practices from them as I would NOT recommend their company. read more
