I needed to find a good mechanic for a sudden car issue. I checked out reviews and called Ed. He could not have been any more honest, helpful and responsive. I would definitely recommend his services and will not hesitate to go back. S&H Auto Repair is a hidden gem! read more

Ed helped us out with an oil top up on our way through town. He was so helpful and nice to meet, we're definitely coming back on our next trip through Akron! We also loved meeting his cat BC. read more

Stop right here. You are like the rest of us looking on the net to see if these shops are worth your money. This shop is. Im a single woman who knows nothing about vehicles. so, ive been done bad before. Im taking out my time to give this shop its flowers. A+ for the service the men who fixed my car and the price. I was preparing for some mechanic telling me how my car getting fixed would literally be a down payment for a ship! lol nope! fair, FAIR prices!! my car works great again. Ed even came to my house because i couldn't make it to him! NO LIE. Its 2025 and they came over made me laugh, Fixed my ride ( and i had the key stuck in the ignition with no battery power) and left. The price was way beautiful. Im totally locked in for life. Im so serious. Thank u Lord for your children, and i ask you continuously bless Ed and his workers with health and financial assistance. read more

I am from out of town and broke down in Akron. I took a leap and was so glad I did. This business is was honest, fairly priced and responsive. Thank you S & H Auto. No regrets. At all! Also. Your shop cat is adorable ! read more

Ed is such a great guy. I highly recommend s&h to anyone looking for work on their car. They know what they're doing, they're fast, they're kind, and they're very fair. I can't speak highly enough of them! read more

I am new to Akron, OH and a new car owner and needed a trusted mechanic. I viewed these reviews and it sounded to good to be true, but it was true. Ed was able to explain how my car is messed up using anatomy & physiology which was really cool and educates his customers about their car and how they need to maintain it. His crew of mechanics are equally as personable, friend and have their own unique personality. 10/10 would recommend S&H to my friends and anyone who needs a trusted mechanic. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Called 8 places looking for quotes, S+H beat all the competitors prices by far!

Ed was amazing! I had taken my car to a dealership after I realized my water pump was leaking--they quoted me $1300 in repairs--I called this shop, and Ed offered to take a look--and ultimately came in at a much better price! I felt Ed was honest, letting me know the dealership was trying to fix things that didn't need fixed--and I appreciated his honesty. I felt like this was a garage that cares about taking care of their customers instead of trying to rip people off. Will be bringing my cars back in the future for any issues--Highly recommend! read more

I can not even begin to explain how awesome these guys are. As a girl in college, car troubles have always been a pretty big fear of mine. I have been overcharged many times for minor fixes. Now, the fact that I am a girl who does not know much about cars and my dad, who is a mechanic, is not here to check it out definitely didn't help either. Ed, however, is running a business for the people. He and his crew are very reliable, honest, and extremely kind. He shared many stories with me and made me feel comfortable with being there. He even gave me tips for my college courses! His pricing is like no other, as well. I will absolutely be coming back to Ed and his crew for any future car issue I may have. I am beyond happy that I found this place!! read more

I bought a used car and had it inspected by Ed. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and fair. He gave me a diagnostic of the vehicle and showed me where I might have some issues in the future, without charging me an arm and a leg. He also gave me some tips on how to keep the car running at top performance. I brought the car back to have the oil changed and was in and out quickly at a great price. I will continue to bring my car here for future work - Thank you! read more

Had an unfortunate brake leak, knew that I wasn't going to be able to fix it on my own. Dropped it off, was given an estimate on time and labor, and both were spot on and reasonable. Ed was great to talk to and had a chance to meet/talk to John before he got to work on my car. Great team! read more

I'm copying my review from Google here b/c the whole world deserves to know about this gem of an auto mechanic shop! Can't say enough about how kind (and knowledgable) Ed was. I was driving through from out of state and had problems with my engine on the road -- barely made it into Akron overnight. I did a quick search of auto shops the next morning and took a chance on S&H based on its proximity and positive reviews here on Yelp. First of all, the super-sweet shop cat -- she's the icing on the cake! Secondly, Ed couldn't be more professional or knowledgable about the actual mechanics of automobile functions. Third, he refused to charge me for his time (which he should have!) and sent me off on the road having checked the engine carefully with great advice for maintenance of my high-mileage car moving forward. Because of him, I was able to make it home safely for the second half of my trip. Merci beaucoup, Ed! If I could come back to Akron to get all my repairs done at S&H, I would... read more

This place was amazing! I was having trouble with my car making a knocking sound when I used the brakes. I was about to go back to New York. I had to get there that evening and I wanted to make sure I could get there safe. The mechanics at S&H found the problem, let me know that it was safe to drive on until I could get to my regular mechanic in New York and helped me get back in time. They were a pleasure to spend time with and they didn't charge me a cent. What a positive experience. read more

I highly recommend S&H for your auto repair needs. My daughter's older Buick was overheating late on a Thurs. afternoon and I called S&H based on the reviews. Being as it was late, Ed offered to wait for her to get a tow. After she dropped it off, they made sure she got back home safely. The price was more than fair and the work was done quickly. What a nice crew they have. When you have a college student away from home, it is nice to know they have someone trustworthy and caring when it comes to car repair. Ed even stepped her through different scenarios as to what to look for down the road with her aging vehicle. Thanks S&H! read more

Best of the best. Will take the time to explain what is wrong, is honest, fair, and always reliable. Its hard finding a mechanic at fair prices and trustworthy but Ed and his shop are top quality. read more

I can't say more good things about my experience with Ed at S & H. He's honest and cuts straight to the chase, while doing his best to give you the best deal possible. I had new brake pads put on, as well as a set of new rotors, and I couldn't have found a better deal anywhere else. I would recommend Ed to anyone in the Akron area looking for a reliable mechanic. I highly doubt that anyone else offers the kind of service he provides. Thanks again Ed! read more

My band & I are typically pretty lucky when it comes road/van troubles, but we had to visit this shop today due to brake problems. They were fairly quick, & got us back on the road, & it cost us less than what we were quoted for. I HIGHLY recommend this shop. read more

There's a reason why this place has a unanimous 5 star rating. Ed helped my band in a pinch halfway through our cross country tour when our van's brake pads were totally shot. We had a 12 hour drive ahead of us to our next gig, and we were so worried we wouldn't be able to find a good mechanic in an unfamiliar city that was able to do the job in the time frame we needed AND at rate that fit within our extremely tight budget. We were dead wrong. If there was any city in the country to deal with a mechanical problem, I'm glad it was Akron and thank god to Yelp for leading us to S&H. Ed got the job done at lightening speed and got us the best deal we could have possibly asked for. A huge weight was lifted off my chest when we picked up our van. Could not recommend enough! read more

Great mechanics who know what they're doing and will not empty your bank account. They have always done exactly what they said they were going to do and the job is done right. I will definitely recommend Ed and his team to anyone who asks me for a good local mechanic. read more

I can't recommend this place enough! Ed was kind, courteous and professional, with a great sense of humor to boot! Pricing was more than fair. Will be going back if I run into any more car problems! read more

First off, this is the prototypical mom & pop auto shop. Ed (the owner) is a great guy and, like other reviewers have stated, is wiling to work with you on the price. He isn't in it to screw his customers. I was rotating through the area, and stumbled upon the shop via yelp. Boy, am I glad I did. I got quotes as high as $400 to replace a starter, which was easily accessible from the top of the engine bay. He replaced it for around half that price and had it done in an hour. The guys at the shop also spent a good amount of time brainstorming as to what my issue was. They did not want to replace the starter and have that not be the issue. This was the best experience I have ever had at an auto shop. I would definitely recommend the shop to all friends and family. You will not be disappointed. While you are there, be sure to ask Ed about his Akron jokes. read more

Ed is honest, knowledgeable and affordable. Definitely recommend his service. He helped to fix my daughter's car and does not try to take advantage by charging high fee's like other places. If you want honest, dependable and fast service check this place out. Appreciate you Ed and we will be back if we have any auto repairs in the future! read more

While on a road trip cross-country I ran into car trouble in Akron. After getting diagnostics at several places and making several phone calls to compare prices I ran across S&H Auto reviews online. Ed, the owner, not only offered me the best price (by over $300) of all the garages I contacted but was friendly and informative. He walked me through what was going on with my car, showing me the engine and diagnostic results as he ran them. He was kind and honest about my car's needs and quickly took my vehicle in to work on it the same day, accommodating my road trip needs (which was above and beyond what was necessary). He even recommended a delicious local diner for while we waited! This is hands down the best auto repair shop in Akron with the best prices too. read more

My daughter just moved to Akron. She called to say her exhaust system fell off on her way to work on a Saturday morning. I tried to find a place she could take it, but it was rather tough to do an a Saturday. I found S&H through Yelp actually, I called, and they said to get it towed to them. They gave me an estimate, and had the car fixed. It took a couple days, but hey, I can see why they were so busy. Great service. Within budget. When my daughter went to pick up the car she said Ed was the nicest guy she ever met. As long as she's in Akron, I know where she'll be able to take her car to. Thanks! read more

just passed by here today for an oil change. service was extremely professional. Owner Ed (Ziad) was very helpful and down-to-earth. Excellent service. highly recommended. read more

When I moved here 2 years ago for school I quickly was in need of a mechanic. After a quick look around I found Ed's place. He was very upfront and honest from the beginning about finding a solution to my problem. He did everything he could to reduce the cost and tried various routes before finding the right solution. Being a college student we tried the cheaper solutions first to see if they would work and from the very start he made it clear that he would only charge me for the service if it fixed the problem. This was very selfless of him and something that's hard to come by in a mechanic. I have come to him for other problems since and he always gets everything done in a quick and efficient manner without compromising the quality of work. I'd recommend him to anyone asking for a reliable place to go that won't break the bank! Grateful that I found Ed's place!! read more

I took my old Honda to S&H auto after the engine started misfiring and idling hard. Ed gave me a quote for the work and despite needing an extra part, only charged me what he quoted. They seem really genuine and honest. I will definitely be taking my car back in the future. read more

The first time I took my car to S & H Auto Repair, no problems, it was a simple oil change. (Also a change of clothes when I got home, because that place was super filthy, even for a mechanic's shop. The second time was different. I had an appointment to have my gas gauge fixed, as the needle wouldn't go quite all the way to the top when I filled the tank. They don't tell you that there are no appointments, they let you think you have one. But you still have to wait behind all the walk-ins. I waited an hour and 15 minutes for my "appointment". I have a grocery list of things they did wrong, from getting grease and oil all over my upholstery, to not even checking the gauge when they were finished. They said there was no gas in the car, that's why they couldn't check to see if it was fixed. Do they not have access to gasoline? Couldn't they have put some in my car? And why the hell was my car out of gas anyway? The bottom line is, the gauge still doesn't work, and my car is now making weird noises. All for the low price of $460.00! I'll never go back there again, and will tell anyone who will listen to STAY AWAY! read more

Best car auto repair service I've ever experienced. I took my car into S&H. I had an issue which I believed was bad wheel bearings. I called around to other places and the procedure from everywhere else happened to be so much more than what S&H were charging. I was on a tight budget do to me being a college student. As I dropped the car off, I later received a call saying I needed axles as well and a few other things. Some way, some how they managed to keep the price around the same and handled everything accordingly. My car drives so much better now. I really do appreciate their service and they truly put their customers first. Also, Ed is such a good guy, and is not one of those mechanics that tries to take advantage of you and overcharge. I truly can't thank them enough for the customer service that they have and they way that they go about their customers. I'd prefer them over any mechanic. read more

Ed is the owner and will try to help you on the price as much as possible. I got quoted for one part from Midas being $360 at the end of the installation. Ed was able to replace the same part and a tie rod for just over $300. I would have paid around $500 at Midas for that same exact work. They are there to help the individual and not try to rub every penny out of the customer. I am planning on taking my car to them again without a doubt. read more
