Serpe & Sons is a Delaware staple in terms of local bakeries. They have all of your favorite items from pizza dough to sauce, cookies and baked goods. I like to stop into Serpe's for their cake slices. I have had their rolls and tomato pie in the past as well. On this visit I tried a cinnamon roll but consumed it before I snapped a picture. The cinnamon roll was light and airy. I almost wish I had gotten another one. The cake slices are a decent size and k like that you can get different flavors other than plain vanilla.

On Mother's Day 2024, I stopped by Serpe's a family-owned bakery in Elsmere, DE. The bakery was bustling with business as folks were getting fresh-baked bread and pastries for their loved ones. In addition to baked goods Serpe's sells fresh pastas and sauces. I ordered a loaf of Italian bread, which they sliced for me, a strawberry tart, and a chocolate-covered pretzel. I've already made lunch sandwichrs with the bread and am enjoying some of the strawberry tart for dessert. If you're ever in the Elsmere/Wilmington, DE area, take the time to patronize Serpe's, you'll be glad you did! Bon appetite

I wish Serpe's tomato pie was consistent. Sometimes it's full of sauce and not dry and sometimes it's stale and skimpy on sauce. I'm going to look in box from now on before I pay.

Snobs. Entirely too busy to help customers which is a complete joke. Their pastries are sub-par and extremely overpriced

Tomato pie is a staple at this bakery as well as their cakes and pastries. Highly recommend!

From pastries to tomato sauce, I highly recommend Serpe's for anything Italian. Serpe's has their reputation and it speaks for itself.

Always a great place to buy great pastries and cakes and I take to the VA Hospital. And I would recommend this business to everyone.

Ask the Community - Serpe & Sons Bakery

Do they have delivery?

Serpes delivers rolls and things like that to restaurants locally but I don’t think they deliver smaller orders. But you could always ask!

This time, we arrived at 11 on a Sunday, and the wait was expected to be about 30 minutes. We decided to stick it out this time. Lo and behold, after 30 minutes, we got the call--it was raining so we hung out under a nearby awning-- and away we went to sit at the window counter/bar, which afforded us a nice view of people going in and out as they joined the queue. I now understand why people line up for this place: they serve an outstanding brunch. I had one of the omelettes of the day, which in this case was artichoke, bacon and mozzarella. While that may seem like an odd combination--I can't remember ever having an omelette with artichoke in it--it totally worked. In fact, it was one of the best omelettes I've had in recent memory. It also came with a yummy biscuit (especially yummy if you ask them to bring you honey butter) and breakfast potatoes (I accessorized their ketchup with a bit of hot sauce and bingo). My dining companion also really enjoyed his spinach, feta and mushroom omelette. Service was friendly and efficient without ever making us feel rushed. Prices are reasonable, and there are a whole lot of things that looked yummy around us, especially the challah stuffed French toast--I definitely wouldn't mind splitting that with a friend on a future visit.

Perfect for lunch! Wait staff was the best we've seen in a while, the food was served hot, the…read moreingredients were fresh: Fresh mushrooms, and fresh spinach in my omelette. Parking is a little difficult in this neighborhood, but we found a an open lot directly behind the restaurant. Unfortunately, there was a loud loudmouth woman sitting in the corner, who wouldn't shut up throughout our lunch- that was a bit disturbing. The restaurant was top-notch! Highly recommended.
