I've booked with Serlin 1-2 times a year for several years, but I've always felt a bit uneasy. This last trip confirmed I won't be returning. The driver showed up nearly an hour early. While I appreciate punctuality, he could have waited nearby instead of making me feel rushed. When I finally went outside, I found him napping and had to tap on the glass to wake him. During the ride, he mentioned feeling tired, drove under the speed limit in the left lane, and caused other cars to pass us on the right. Then, without warning, he slammed on the brakes and swerved into the next lane without checking, narrowly avoiding an accident. He later admitted he'd "closed his eyes too long." The service I received was terrible. Two months ago I had a reservation for one of their vans and then the owner made a more "important" reservation for the same vehicle so my family was crammed and we weren't even given a lower rate. The suburban we were in even shut off in traffic. That was very inconvenient and scary to my family, as we thought we were going to be left stranded. They need to provide safe vehicles to assure the safety of their clients. My first time booking a private limo with Red Dot. I believe they partner or own Serlin International Limo out Fairfield? Not sure? I called Red Dot and spoke to Lisa she was terrific and gave me a "new customer discount" and answered all my questions-was quick to send verification e-mails. Very detailed and kind, even talked me into a private Limo, my original inquiry was for the regular service. After reading older reviews I too was nervous, but Lisa made me feel secure about booking. The price was very good departing from New Haven. My first Driver was Tyrone -he was superb, a smooth driver, knew all the back roads and short cuts. A true professional, in every way, funny and charming-great under pressure! Felt very comfortable as a female traveling alone. My second driver was Stanly, he navigated the horrific construction and traffic at LaGuardia like Superman. No joke LaGuardia is a drivers nightmare, especially at 5pm drive time. He is to be commended. He was also a cautious driver, providing a smooth ride, no car sickness, from jerky moves. I also enjoyed a most interesting philosophical conversation with Stanly, a much need diversion from the rain and congestion of the highway-I'm a bit of a car phobic and it really helped. The other thing I love-Drivers do not drown themselves in loud fragrance-been there it's so nauseating! Cars have super clean interiors with totally respectful and reliable drivers. I have taken many Limo's and must say this is my new go to, and the experience exceeded all expectations! I will be back soon! My faith has been restored in the otherwise dicy Limo business. After reading about some others' experiences, I had pretty low expectations for my ride from LGA to Westport, CT. But it couldn't have been better - the van arrived within 5 minutes and we went straight there. Granted it was off-peak time (Tues at 12pm) and I wasn't going into the city, but still the service was fast and the driver was very courteous. I will use them again. read more

Ive had good experiences with red dot in the past, and the drivers are usually really nice. However, I am currently sitting at the Hilton Garden Inn and red dot is 45 full minutes late. Worse, they haven't called to tell me what's up. Worst, my husband and father have been transferred/on hold/been hung up on twice when they tried to call to find out what was going on. Ok, now I'm in the van- they've finally arrived. My dad asked him what the hold up was (kindly) and he very rudely said, 'It only matters what time your flight is; we'll get there on time.' Had a great experience. I called as soon as I received my bags and the driver showed up less than 5 minutes later. Luckily for me I was the last person they were picking up for the evening so we did not need to go to other terminals to pick anyone else up! All the drivers I've met were very personable and professional. Red Dot is great for getting to the airport (4 Stars), not as good at getting you home from the airport because of their policies (2 stars) 1. They won't be specifically waiting for you when you arrive (but they may be randomly there) 2. You have to call them to be picked up 3. It can take up to 45 minutes for them to arrive (took my guy over an hour) 4. Their policy is that you have to wait until after you're completely done at the airport to call them, so you can't save waiting time by calling them when you land or before you get your bags. That means that after a 14hour flight you may be sitting at the airport for quite a while. 5. If you end up waiting too long and want to take a cab instead, their policy is that they will charge you anyway, even if you call to cancel. The dispatch guy I talked to liked to say this over and over. My advice is to use them to get to the airport (for that I give them 4 stars). If you want to use them to get home just call them when you arrive; don't schedule in advance, there's no point, won't be any faster and then you're locked in to using them. read more

We called from JFK and were given a 35 minute ETA. An hour and two calls later our shuttle arrives and tells us we have to pick up another person at LaGuardia! Never once was it mentioned that it was a shared ride. We called to see if they could send someone else to LaGuardia. What we got was some of the worst customer experience I have seen (almost USPS level of terrible). Not only did they not try to mitigate our frustration, they behaved as though we couldn't do a thing about it! This is a terrible service. Take anything else. read more

Five Red Stars for Red Dot! I was initially pretty skeptical about Red Dot because of the mixed reviews here. However, the trip I just had exceeded even my most hopeful expectations. My driver was five minutes early and arrived in a Lincoln. I was told the company had upgraded me to a private car service for free because the driver just happened to be on his way to an NYC pickup. We left our New Haven pickup location at 2:20 am, and I woke up at JFK at 3:45 am, more than an hour before my scheduled arrival time. This experience may have been above average because of the upgrade I got. However, I definitely intend to use Red Dot again. read more

THE WORST!!! Long story short, the van never showed up and I missed my flight, and had to fly out of a different airport for an extra cost of $500+ to my company (change fee, fare difference). The details - arrived 10 minutes before the "pickup", called company 10 minutes after van supposed to arrive and told by the dispatcher that it would be there in minutes, and called again to find out that it had totally missed the pickup (driver error). And by the time a separate taxi came to pick me up, there was little chance I was going to make my original flight (takes at least hour to get to the airport). Talked to a Red Dot manager, and the company could do little other than providing some vouchers for future rides. On principle, will never use these guys again. They didn't do as they said they would do, and they did zero to rectify the situation. read more

Pick up from LaGuardia. Called when I had all my bags. They said 15 mins. 15 mins became 30 and then one hour. Other passenger also asking where they are. Waited probably one hour and 15 with my blood boiling. So pissed and never taking them again. Not worth the $68. There are now private cars taking you from LaGuardia for a little more. I've used them to and from JFK and Kennedy to the Hi Ho, mostly in the early morning. They've always been on time and courteous. I booked a ride from Norwalk to JFK. It was one of the most unsafe rides of my life. The driver was erratic and weirdly aggressive. She would blast her horn anytime other drivers didn't get completely out of her way so she could do whatever she wanted. The only way she slowed down or sped up was by slamming on her breaks or the gas. She would unsafely stop in the middle of intersections leaving my side of the car exposed. I needed to catch a flight, but I was so troubled by her driving that I heavily weighed getting out of her car and calling a different cab. When we arrived at the airport, I told her to stay in the car and I would get my own bag. She ignored me, got out of the car as I was hastily getting my own bag and then she looked up at me waiting for a tip that I certainly was not going to give. I told her to have a nice day and quite literally ran away. As soon as I got through security, I called the service and they nicely heard all my complaints and submitted my concerns. A manager called me today to follow up and I believe I will be getting a refund. read more

The representative (Lisa) was so ignorant to her own companies policies, I honestly felt bad for her. I asked will they charge my card again and response was "maybe". Holly shit batman!!! Took an hour and fifteen minutes just to get out of the airport! Driver circled around airport bc he missed one passenger. No GPS traffic, so driver took Hutch w an accident even though I 95 was clear. If your time is worth $5 an hour or less, take Red Dot, otherwise find another way...any other way! read more

I have to agree with other posters that I would only use them to go to the airport and not from, as it takes way to long to get picked up. In terms of going, they have never been late and I have always been at the airport exactly when they estimated. As for the skill of the drivers... Not great read more

I've used red dot dozens of times over the past few years. They usually pick up within the claimed 45 minutes (from when you call, not from the arrival time of your flight; if it's after 10pm, within the hour), however the last few times I've used them, they've taken an hour and fifteen minutes, which in my opinion is a fairly long time to wait for a pickup. I echo the sentiments of one of the other reviewers: red dot needs to spell out a policy for when thy don't make their promised pickup time. In addition, they should get better at logistics. On a different dimension, red dot isn't going to win any awards for comfort -- every van of theirs I've ridden in has had terrible suspension to the extent that you're literally bouncing up and down in your seat. I'm not sure what the experience is like with their competitors, but I believe I'll find out on my next trip. read more

I booked for pick up from la guardia to purschase..the good thing is that they came on time exactly ...the bad thing is that it has been moving in circles for an hour and 15 minutes to pick up others to the extend I need to vomit!!!
