I recently moved into a new townhome and there was flooring downstairs but the upstairs was all carpet as were the stairs. I am not a fan of carpet especially with a pet, so I immediately went out to find companies to do my floors. I had three requirements: 1) the job needed to be done quick and before I moved in (that didn't happen but more on that later) 2) The flooring upstairs needed to match very closely what was already laid downstairs 3) The price had to be in line with my budget. I was lucky enough to have Dennis come out and meet with me initially. He did a walk through and we worked out pricing that fit into my budget. He also found a pretty good match to the flooring downstairs (he took a left over plank back to their store) and I was able to go to the showroom and look at the samples and approve before they placed the order for the flooring. Dennis then placed the order for the flooring and delivered it all to the house. All that was easy. The crazy part is that the job would have been done within just a few days of my meeting with Dennis ( I met with Dennis on a Wednesday, we ordered flooring that Friday and he was ready to schedule install the following Wednesday) had my new HOA not given me conflicting information on what had to be approved and what documentation was needed. That was the delay, it had nothing to do with Sequoia flooring. The office manager did however help me put together some paperwork (of which the HOA replied it was the most thorough submission of materials and scope of work they have received, lol) so I want to thank her for her effort in that regard. Eventually, all the HOA stuff got worked out and it was time to do the job. I unfortunately had to move in during the delay, so Dennis' crew had to move furniture around but they did so carefully and nothing was broken or damaged. They also completed the job very fast! The crew showed up on time (they were all very nice and masked!) the first day of the project, we did an initial walked through, made some aesthetic decisions and they were working immediately. I was only displaced for about two days/nights (this would be longer I suppose for a much larger job) from start to finish. The flooring is beautiful and I'm super pleased. Also the match to the existing flooring was superb (in the pic the stairs are the new flooring the landing is the existing flooring). My only small complaint was that they left boxes of flooring in my living room that was kinda heavy and they didn't put back some furniture in the right place that was also heavy. I expressed this to Dennis and he offered to come back to move all that stuff but it ended up not being necessary as I had some friends help me. Other than that, they left the place spotless. All around a great experience, although at times hectic scheduling of which Dennis was very gracious and patient. read more

I called Sequoia Flooring looking for a quote to hopefully restore the original hardwood floors at my moms 60 year old home. I already had one company come and state the floors had to be ripped out. Thankfully, I came across Project Manager Brian and his team who shared their knowledge and reassured us that the floor could be restored. They were both clear with what we could expect from beginning to end. We started with some water and fire damage from decades ago, holes that were covered with plywood, and a strip of plywood that divided the living room from dinning room (see pictures). Sequoia flooring did an amazing job installing our new floors!!! They are truly beautiful! We had a water leak caused by Home Depot's refacing company November of 2021 when they took off an external water filter without our permission and never reinstalled it. This leak created bucking in our kitchen floors and so we had to replace our entire downstairs floor through our homeowners insurance as Home Depot didn't own up to their mistake after a year of trying to get them to. Steven from Sequoia came to give an estimate and actually found our original flooring so we could match our upstairs. He even was able to get the wood floor manufacturer to hold the wood on our order at their location in storage until we were ready to start the project 2 months later. Steven's head worker, Alex and their team were very patient with us and our situation when mold and a subfloor were found during their demo. Steven ordered us plywood to install as we still had a height issue and now needed a new subfloor. Then the water remediation team had to come in and clean out the mold and test which took a couple of tries. Alex and his team worked tirelessly once again when they returned and did a fantastic job! There were many hiccups between the rain, another leak and the mortgage company withholding money from us until inspection, but Steven and Alex helped and supported us through the entire project! What amazed me about Steven was his thorough knowledge of wood flooring and the installation process. This is because he started out as an installer so he isn't just a sales guy. He helps you choose the right flooring but is there with you through the entire process and really knows his stuff. He's a super guy! Alex and his installation team were very hard working and knowledgeable. They did a fantastic job and cleaned up well too! In addition, they did an amazing job of blending our stairs to the new downstairs flooring in order to help blend the downstairs to the upstairs seamlessly. Brian and his crew did a wonderful job. Historic Preservation: Brian understood that what we wanted for our 1920's bungalow was to reseal and preserve the nearly 100 year old floor rather than to completely resurface or replace it. We wanted it to maintain the character it has, the small discolorations, imperfections, etc. and just give it a good protective seal. Other flooring companies were suggesting we rip out and replace at least 1/3 of the floor, but Brian understood that wasn't what we wanted. Punctual: When Brian came out to give an estimate, he arrived on time. When Brian came back to do the work, once again, on time. Also, they finished sooner than expected - they estimated 2 days to completion, but they did it in 1 day. Process: They lightly sanded and buffed the floor to remove the old sealant, then did 2 coats of seal. They treated the 100 year old oak floor with a different treatment than the newer pine floor that is present in the add-on room. They did a semi-gloss treatment of the wooden stairs that is meant to help you not slip and fall on the stairs, which is fabulous. Advice: When asked, Brian gave us advice on how to care for the floors going forward and gave recommendations on different cleaning products. Price: Best price of everyone who gave us an estimate. It was such good work, I wish they did all carpentry so I could hire them to refinish my wooden doors and window casings. :-) Highly recommend. read more

Dennis & the Sequoia crew were phenomenal in their buffing & resealing of our hardwood floors in our 1962 home. We'd recently moved-in and there was A LOT of neglect in the flooring over the years. You could tell they were thirsty for some TLC. Dennis popped-by, surveyed our hardwood floor situation, which required attention in 5 rooms & a hallway, and shared his thoughts on what would get the job done. Then, he gave us a fair estimate of the work involved. They showed-up on-time and immediately began covering our inner stone walls, counter-tops and whatever dishes/china were out & about (as we had to have the floors completely cleared of all furniture prior to their arrival.) I recently became a first-time homeowner. I loved the condo, but not the floors. I wished that the wood was a lighter finish instead of the (equally popular) grey-brown that they were. The floors were advertised as hardwood when I purchased, and they looked it, but I wasn't sure that was true. They certainly weren't cabin planks. Before move-in was my best opportunity for this visual upgrade, if possible, so I Yelped wood flooring companies and called the business with the most and highest ratings. Well, BRIAN of Sequoia Flooring IS AN AWESOME PROFESSIONAL. I'm so lucky he was my consultant. He is more of an educator than a salesman. He was honest that the floors I that came with the home were great quality and condition. He even said that the integrity of the floors I already had would last years more. I was torn to hear this, but so pleased that Brian wasn't trying to upsell me, and he didn't seem pressed to sell at all - just to give me all the info to make a decision. He let me down gently that the floors were engineered wood (no!), but Sequoia Flooring could refinish them (yes!). And Brian fairly warned me about the pros and potential cons of refinishing engineered hardwood. I went ahead with the refinish service because, 1) I'm picky and I want what I want, and 2) I trusted that Brian wasn't cheating or misleading me just to make the sale. Sequoia Flooring started the job so promptly! And finished 1100 SqFt in two days! The team of men were very polite and there wasn't a bit of dust left behind when they were done. The pricing was competitive (mid-range of what I expected based on asking around and a Google search). Considering that the timing was perfect, and the amazing service was respectful, prompt, and neatly completed: Worth Every Penny. I've enjoyed these floors for over 4 months now. The lighter finish opens up the space, it brightens it up, and better compliments the exposed wood beams. The wood grain is gorgeously more obvious. And except for that the floors are like-new, super smooth, there's no evidence that they have been refinished. I am so happy with my decision and for Brian's expertise and authenticity. Sequoia Flooring's beautiful refinish of this engineered hardwood is a testament to their work and I wholeheartedly recommend them. read more

New homeowner here and I have to tell you, I am SO happy that I went with Sequoia Flooring to replace the old floors in our townhome. My parents used them to change old carpet many years ago and were very happy so I decided to give them a call. Now our place had crazy old parkay flooring and some old tile. We also knew there were some leveling issues based on the way some of the flooring was coming off but we had no idea of what was really under there. Right when I called to setup a free consultation, we were paired with Brian as our Project Manager, who was the person we meet for the consultation and worked with us until the very end of the project. For the consultation, square footage was determined and preliminary leveling recommendations were made but to make it even better, he wanted to make sure he gave us an accurate and more precise pricing for the leveling so he called the owner to also come to walk our home so that we could be confident on exactly what work had to be done. They worked with our budget and timeline which really helped us with all of the other projects we wanted to get done. During the project, the flooring we chose ended up being discontinued by the warehouse and Brian immediately informed us and made himself available on his off day for us to come by their office to pick a new floor. Brian and his team showed up exactly on time or even earlier each morning and left our place clean after each day too. The project finished on time and I cannot he more happier. We wanted to convert our bonus room downstairs into a home gym so we started looking at hardwood flooring options to replace our carpet with. I did a bunch of research online before deciding on Sequoia Flooring, who seemed to offer the best combination of flooring options and installation services. Dennis was very helpful throughout the whole process and was honest about everything. He even sent a photo of the flooring that was delivered to him from the manufacturer to make sure we still wanted to continue with that wood because the delivered materials looked slightly different from the sample we based our decision on. We decided to move forward with it anyway because it was a beautiful floor but I really appreciated his transparency on the matter and his no-pressure approach. When it came to the installation work, Juan was our guy. Like the rest of the Sequoia team, Juan was very knowledgable, respectful, and communicative throughout the whole process and did an excellent job on removing the old carpet, laying the new concrete, and installing the new floors. Eder and the whole Sequoia crew were fantastic. We hired them to install new hardwood floors in a 1913 craftsman-style home we just purchased. We had originally hoped to refinish the floors, but they were way too thin (already splintering with nails coming through and boards coming up). Eder came out and broke the news to us, taking the time to show us why we couldn't refinish. He then brought by options for replacement and counseled us on the best option for us. During the installation process, Eder consulted us on every cosmetic choice and worked hard to integrate the new floors and baseboards into the style of the house. I can tell Dennis and the team really take pride in their work. We hired him to demo some old laminate and install new engineered hickory planks. During the process, we discovered asbestos tile from the 60's underneath all the old flooring. This was not ideal, but Dennis laid out a plan to encase it w/ a thin layer of self-leveling concrete. Even with this surprise, Dennis made sure we were taken care of and the final product speaks for itself. The floors look and feel beautiful. The house has a completely revived feel to it. read more
