The ONLY reason I am writing this positive review is because of DINA--she's a Sephora cashier on the weekends. Her face beat is VALUABLE! This lady has it all, and she is kind, helpful, and wayyyyy nicer than anyone else at the store! There were other Sephora employees and managers on the floor, but I was ignored, then told to hold for over 30 minutes before someone helped me. Meanwhile, new customers were being helped immediately. Was it a brown thing? I am going to check again and this time, I will be video taping the whole thing to ensure this Sephora is not racist. Let's talk about the bad employee--her name starts with an M--Marzan maybe? Mariam maybe? Either way, the M-lady was AWFUL. She is middle-eastern maybe, and I thought that she would understand my Indian brown skin and mature eye needs, but she slapped on a beige concealer and then took it off and put on another beige concealer....again, I am BROWN. I ended up NOT getting a concealer and told myself I need to go to ULTA or MAC. I even asked the M-lady if she had any samples she could give me since I was going to buy a primer and black Sephora eyeliner pencil anyways. SHE SAID NO!!! THEN, I met DINA, the cashier. She hyped up the Sephora brand eyeliner, and said to use it on my water line--that it's great for that. She hooked it up with a concealer sample too, and I WILL be looking into the Lady Gaga concealer now because of Dina! After my experience with her coworkers :(, Dina was a breath of fresh air. SO, I called Sephora just now, told them about how amazing Dina was (and how not great her coworkers were to me) and requested a makeup consultation and makeover with her, but was told no. Something about licensing. Therefore, I WILL be at Sephora on Saturday and give Dina my card in case she would like to do private consultations for my friends and I on an upcoming wedding in North Carolina in Oct 2026. I also throw private functions for Washington Post, and we might have ongoing work for Dina outside of Sephora. Sephora, you did a GREAT job hiring this woman. Dina, You are AMAZING--start your own business. Sephora, give this lady a raise and please put her on the floor instead of the cash register--what are yall doing putting that M-lady on the floor instead of Dina?! This Sephora at the Springfield mall location has phenomenal employees. Stacy is super funny, and alway adds fun to my experience. It feels amazing to have upbeat interactions in such a stressful world. Jessi is heart felt and really concerned with helping me look and feel my best self . Jessi is always willing to help. Jessi always greets me , and checks in on me patiently even if I was previously talking to another associate. Jessi is an overall great human and I truly appreciate our interactions. The comforting words and boosts of confidence are a genuine touch that you don't feel or encounter in the sales process these days. Jessie. Insistently introduced me to new products that I love . That is tremendous fear because i have taught customer service and sales, and pride myself on no one being able to "sell" me anything. This store is a little smaller than some of the stand-alone storefronts I have visited, but they have a pretty broad selection. I was able to find everything that was on my list with relative ease (I even got an alert on my app earlier that day saying that an item I wanted was recently restocked at this location). The cashiers were friendly enough and were able to get me checked out and on my way quickly. What set this visit over the top for me, however, was one sales associate in particular, Marcia. As I'm on my way out of the store, she noticed me looking around and asked me if I needed any help. I told her that I was looking for the disposable applicator wands, and that I did not see any on the floor. I shared with her that my personal undereye makeup applicator broke that morning and that I was looking for one or two of the disposable ones to hold me over until I got back home (I was in town on business). Marcia told me to wait right there. She came back a few minutes later with a handful of the disposable applicators. I took one or two, but instead she offered me the entire dozen or so that she had brought out just for me. It's a decent store. First off I like the employees here a lot. All are here for the right reasons, and that's to be customer service friendly. These folks are great. As a man, I tip my cap respectfully to the ladies, but there's more going on for them here. Totally okay with that, as us hairy beasts don't make up a lot of the beauty market. With that being said, am sad Armani Profumo is discontinued. Still they have a decent selection of men's colognes. They aren't as current as say Bloomingdale's or Macys, but they will have most releases within two months or so. Christmas time is a great time, as their set deal is a fun bargain. You can try different colognes. As far as pricing though, I usually do better elsewhere, yet recommend the Christmas collection or whatever it's called. This store is clean and organized. read more

My thoughts on this location are torn because while they had exactly what I was looking for, as others have indicated the customer service was lack luster or non existent at best. I walked around and through the whole store and the first person to speak and/ or greet me was the gentleman who checked me rang me up. He asked if I found everything I was looking for and even asked how my day was. Too bad his colleagues were not communicating on that sane level. I think when the store is super busy as it was today, they should have a greeter at the door or at least a person stationed at the front who is greeting by was of speaking. For me Sephora is a nice place where you can get different brands including high end makeup products too. The quality is great and fulfill your needs and requirements. It has skin, perfume, makeup, hair, tools etc. But recently I noticed that they don't give any testers or samples as the direct beauty websites do. Therefore, now I buy directly from the websites and many times I get full size products as complementary. Now I am telling my friends and family to do the same. read more

I had a great experience at this store. Havent used my own makeup in months due to the pandemic. Had a night out with the ladies plus it's my birthday so I decided to get my makeup done professionally. I set up my appointment online with no issues. Arrived to my appointment about 15 minutes early. Only waited about 1 minute for a makeup artist to start on me. I had Sydney. She was amazing. We ran a little behind trying to match my foundation in the beginning but we eventually figured it out. She was super patient and gave me the exact look that I was going for. Generally good store I guess, but a bad experience. I never really go into this store, usually stick to drug store makeup because it's a cheaper option but decide I wanted a better quality concealer. I was looking for one and couldn't find a specific sample color, but I found similar ones and was between 2 of them. I was planning on purchasing one and wanted to make a final decision by looking at them under the light and picking the best. I wanted to take these 2 concealers out of the package for this specific reason, not to use them or to even open them. All I wanted to do was look at them under a direct light, but I guess a worker saw me and assumed I was going to use it or steal it. She came up to me immediately and told me not to use it or take it out the package. I wouldn't have been bothered at all by this because I know she was just doing her job and normally I don't take things out their packaging in stores but the set-up for this brand was not super organized and I couldn't find the right sample color. I said that and she immediately picked out the one I was looking for ( it was in a totally different spot where you wouldn't think to look) and left quickly, I guess to make me feel embarrassed, or dumb for not finding it? Idk. Instead of being understanding or asking me why I was doing that I feel like this worker assumed I was doing something bad and I felt very uncomfortable, she was not rude but came at me with an intimidating demeanor. I get anxious talking to new people in any circumstance so this just made me super uncomfortable and I noticed people staring afterwards. The worker went up to her coworkers too and they were staring. I ended up leaving, not buying what I wanted to because I felt weird in there. I Guess she assumed I was trying to do something bad and had that kind of attitude towards me, but honestly it made me feel really bad in an environment I'm already nervous in, so I don't think I can ever go back lol. Maybe management just needs to go over how to approach customers again with this associate, because I don't want anyone else to feel like how I felt in that moment. I am also a customer service worker and I would honestly never go up to someone like that, even if I do think they're stealing ( you're usually trained to not even stop them but idk how Sephora operates). I had a very bad experience dealing with Sephora's cancellation policy. I needed to get refunded a lot of money because the app miscalculated my cancellation fee. They could have upsold me but didn't. They were too busy talking about perks for working for this store and another store in the mall or their weekend plans. I'm on a rather strict budget and I had a tube of Bare Minerals matte that I've been meaning to exchange for the past 8 mths and I kept putting it off and I had a few extra minutes and I remembered... so I strolled into Sephora around 11am on a Monday and the girls that work there are always so nice. I spoke to the girl at the counter and she allowed me to exchange the lipstick for something else. I was very grateful! I really like this location even if I don't visit it very often because I don't go through makeup that quickly, but I definitely prefer Sephora over Ulta. The worst location I've been too. All the sales reps who are supposed to help all seem like they're in a rush to go no where, my guess is so that no one will ask for help. And when I would find someone to help it seemed as though I was inconveniencing them to do their job as you could see thru the very fake smiles and the advice would seem rushed and the suggestions few... Sephora is pretty much the department store of beauty yet I can only get one or two suggestions? I doubt availability is the issue and it's more lack of knowledge or interest. My suggestion is go to the Sephora in JC Penny, the lady there was very helpful and had a completely different disposition. They didn't have what I needed because they're a smaller store but she told me exactly what to get from the main store. Next time I need to make a purchase I'll go straight to that one first and if they don't have what I want I'll go to the larger one. I hope someone in charge of this store reads the reviews because it seems customer service or lack thereof, is driving people away. May explain why when I do come, there are more girls given themselves full face makeovers with the tester products than girls in line. read more

It's really nice to have a Sephora closer to home! I usually used to go to the one at Pentagon City, when my budget allowed me to do so. One thing I noticed was how much less crowded this one was - kind of takes away the charm, doesn't it? It can't be helped, though. One thing that definitely would've bought the rating down by one star would be the fact that they don't always sell everything! I went in looking for Nest perfumes, only to find they don't sell them! This happened a while ago, but I am just getting around to writing a review. My daughter and I walked in and not only did we enter without being greeted, but none of the 5 or 6 employees even looked in our direction. I could understand if they were busy, but there were only 2 other customers in the entire store. After walking around for 10 or 15 minutes, we stood in front a product (that we had questions about), but again no one even looked in our direction. We finally devised a plan... we would stand there and and first look left, then right, then at the product, then left, then right again, while we literally stood scratching our heads with our best "puzzled looks". We just about had huge question marks floating above our heads and money hanging out of our pockets, but still nothing, After a minute or so of this, FINALLY one of the employees looked me right in the eye and smiled! Assuming she was on her way, we looked down again, and when we looked up, she was gone. I mean gone. Nowhere in sight. At this point we were done, so we, along with the $500 dollars in gift cards my daughter received for her birthday were gone too. I had a great experience here. I am a make up novice and needed to learn how to do photograph worthy makeup for my upcoming wedding. Salwa was my make up artist. She took her time and walked me through skin care, skin prep, make up application, contouring and setting. She helped me picked out the products I needed and gave me pointers for when I needed to try to do it on my on. I posted the pictures and got a ton of rave reviews. I've recently moved to the area and this is the closest Sephora location to me. Several stops in with absolutely no assistance (or offers thereof). Last week I stopped in for a specific product and a few questions. Reon was completely knowledgeable about both my skin type and needs as well as product detail. Cruelty free is important to me so she steered me towards suitable product that met my requests. It took several stops and starts to find something to work on my dry, aging skin and horrible (genetic) eye puffiness but she never rushed or attempted to make something work that wasn't the best option. I will continue to shop this location but only if Reon is working and assists me. More consultants could learn from that type of attention to detail and service! read more

I had a 45 minute makeover today with, Eny. Love, Love, Omg- Love her! I have had similar makeovers at the Bare Minerals store and various department stores.. And had left looking like a clown. I am not sure if I just hit the lucky jackpot with Eny or if every Sephora representative has to be this good. As I told Eny, I typically leave time after these free makeover things, to go home- wash it all off, reapply my usual make up, then start my day. I left this face on all day and flaunted it. I even made up errands to do, just to wear my make up more. Also, this was my 1st ever visit inside a Sephora store. (I have always just shopped it online.) My whole experience was great. Store was clean, all the representatives were very nice, smiling, and more than just accommodating. I hope that this company will allow gratuity in the future, because I feel that Eny deserved it. My boyfriend and I walked through twice, from the entrance to the back, but were never acknowledged or provided a single greeting. Everyone around us were approached and offered assistance. Went into this location for a custom makeover and PJ ended up being my artist! I have had a lot of bad experiences in the past with getting my makeup done so I was a little hesitant. However, PJ listened to my request of having a more of a natural look and she diligently picked products that complimented my skin tone and worked for my skin. I have never been more happy to have a makeover done in my life and the final product was absolutely gorgeous! If you are looking for your makeup done come to this location and request PJ!
