I want to this Sephora today. I was in the store for about 30 to 40 minutes searching around for different items. Out of the whole time I was there there was only one person who had assisted me in trying to help me find any items. She was the lady with short blonde stylish hair. I didn't catch your name but she was only one in the store that help me out of all the 4or 5 workers that I had passed by. I asked if Sephora shipped to APO addresses and reply was that they didn't. I haven't checked online of support and ship to APO but I'm pretty sure depends on what kind of products you'll want to order and ship. I asked another employee for certain products or where certain makeup companies sections were in the store and she had no idea and pointed me in the wrong direction. Well checking out The lady at the cashier had asked me if I will need a bag and I said yes. There wasn't even a line behind me and she hurried and rush to pack my bag but all she did was tossed it on the counter. Every Sophora I've ever been to when you get a bag to put your products in they always pack it with nice tissue so your items stay safe in the bag. She didn't even make an effort to even try. I asked her to put some tissue in the bag and she replied no you didn't need it. I just bought one pack of make up brushes so of course there is more space in the bag. All I know is I've never had to ask for tissue in the bag nor have I ever been asked if I had to pay for the tissue. I know is that if you're in some kind of customer service business then you should be more courteous to the customer. So I love Sephora.... I love the products, I love the experience of trying things... and basically, I love spending money in here. Like, I'd rather shop at Sephora than most places. That said, because I am a frequent spender here, im part of their rewards program (VIB thank you very much haha ) and the last time I was in here, I had the most rude cashier at time of trying to redeem my points. And unfortunately this has happened a few times. But this particular time, I buy my products and the girl just didn't seem happy and looked miserable (I mean I get it it's busy and a pretty Sunday afternoon, you'd rather be out with your friends drinking mimosas at brunch) but at least crack a damn smile... we all have jobs (well many of us anyway) so suck it up a little.... and I asked how many points I had and what the products were in the case and she just seemed annoyed as hell and just wanted me to get out of line... I've come to this location a few times since I first moved to Seattle 4 years ago, and today was probably my favorite experience! In terms of space, it is the smallest. If you want a big store, go to Bellevue!! I am VIB Rouge and attended the DryBar Holiday Hair Party this morning and I had SO MUCH FUN!! The DryBar staff were friendly and helpful. I'm noticing a trend of lackluster customer service in Sephoras--or maybe it bothers more so now than in my youth! Either way, if there's several staff that seem to be lumbering around and can't even be bothered to at least say "hi", I'm ready to walk out. In fact, every single product they carry was in abundance, the one I wanted being the lone exception. Super! Glad I stopped by! Busy and cramped is an understatement, the lines are long, and the cashiers are always just one. No me gusta. I love makeup. I love beauty products, creams and serums. I love the fact that they are all in one place. Unfortunately, I do not love this store. In fact, I only shop in this store out of dire necessity, meaning if I can't find what I need at any other retailer, anywhere downtown, mainly because of the treatment I've received at this location. It's like walking into Nordies, if I'm not dressed to the T with my hair done and a full face of makeup, I am either treated like a dirtbag, or completely ignored. Aces. I really do spend a lot of money on makeup and face stuff, you know, trying to achieve beauty in the mid 30's isn't cheap. I will admit I am a junkie, I have no problem spending money on the promise I will look better, prettier, younger, fine lines disappear, etc. I really do not appreciate being treated like a dirtbag, or like I don't exist, my money is just as green as everyone elses. Return policy is awesome, although if I have something to return, again I skip this store entirely. Even thought I try, I don't keep all my receipts, it happens; most places in 2012 (even grocery stores) are able to look up the trans by a credit card, etc., etc. Sephora's still in the dark ages in that regard. Don't make your return policy so easy if you are going to treat me like stole it. The managers, I can think of two in particular as this location, who are guilty of being assholes like that. What kind of example is that? I have driven completely out of my way to Alderwood just to return b/c the staff incl. managers are so much nicer! As a side note, I really like Ulta at Northgate, they have a TON of stuff to choose from, incl. hair products, accessories and what not - Sephora, only better! The staff is super nice. read more

I love playing with Make Up. I love stores that have samples for me to try. I love exploring new products ... You'd think I would love this Sephora location. NOT the case. Every time I've been in here I'm never helped. Never. Not once. I went in when it's not as busy earlier in the day, mid to late afternoon, and I went in during non holiday months. Doesn't matter. I have to practically hunt down a sales person to ask a simple question, or recommendation. When I finally DO get help, it's never, well ... helpful. Once I went in asking if they had any of a particular Murad serum in stock/when they would get more in. I had a sales lady try to tell me that they changed the packaging and handed me a bottle, "Here you go, this is it. It's the same product, only different labels." No, ma'am. It's not. In fact, she had absolutely no clue what she was talking about. The product hadn't been repackaged. They were out of it. This happens all the time here. Whenever I ask about a product, I get wide-eyed stares, misinformation, or an "Umm, I don't know. Can you wait for one moment." Yeah, that moment turns into them never coming back. I prefer the University Village location over this one any day. In fact, if the U-Village location ever closed, I still wouldn't go back to this location. Yes, do yourself a favor and avoid this location. When i asked for a sample of foundation I was asked a million questions about my skin routine. Then the 'specialist' sent me to another 'specialist' who I was told had more experience. Getting married and having an evening wedding, I went to Sephora downtown for makeup that wouldn't do that reflective clown-white thing in flash photography. This was so important to me that I went in twice: Once to get an initial recommendation, then I came back two days later to ask a different staffer the same question. Result? They both gave the same wrong advice. ~ugh I'm not vain, but if there's a time when you want to look beautiful, it is at your wedding. It was the most photographed (and expensive) night of my life and even though I hired a pro to do my makeup, because she used the foundation I bought at Sephora, in dozens of photos, I look really strange. The images hurt my feelings every time I see them. Yes Sephora reluctantly gave me a refund. But of course it's not the money--I just want the experience to go away. This place makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop. It's sad. I COULD spend hours in this store, playing with all the makeup, smelling all the perfumes, looking at all the beauty products if it weren't for the trance-y club music and the headache-inducing aroma of a hundred different perfumes and colognes that forces me out. I like this place because they offer a variety of products. Most of which range in price. Usually from expensive to super expensive! Nah, it's not that bad. Their Sephora line is actually quite affordable. I come here for the $4 eyeliner. It's nice that I could pick up hairspray, eyeliner, brushes, nail clippers, foundation, face wash and perfume all in one little store, if I wanted to. The only bad thing about this place is that I can't ever leave this store without spending at least $50. If I don't have extra money saved up, I will simply walk past the store, because there is NO way I can go in here without dishing out dough. read more

Kailey is serious amazing-- dare I say, a miracle worker. She's an absolute artist with those brushes. Don't let her pink hair and yellow eye shadow fool you because she's a master of all styles. Okay, let's start the beginning. I needed my makeup done for engagement photos and couldn't afford to go to the makeup artist I hired for my wedding. I booked an appointment for a 45-minute makeover on Sephora's website and just hoped that I would get someone awesome. Wish fulfilled! The makeover started with a great facial from a girl whose name I forgot (long black hair, shimmery lip gloss), including an oxygen treatment that left my face feeling a little stung. However, my makeup went on so easily for the next week and I didn't have any new breakouts, so it was one hundred percent worth a little bit of discomfort. The lotion she finished with to calm my skin back down felt really nice, too. Then Kailey worked her magic. I told her a little bit about my dress, the location, how often I wear makeup/what I was looking to purchase ($50 purchase is required for the makeover, but, hey, it's like getting two things for the price of one) and then she went to work. Skin, flawless. Eyeshadow, perfect. She even helped me with my hair and called over another makeup artist to help with my brows when she couldn't get them exactly how she wanted. Five stars for Kailey. She's well worth the $50 purchase, and probably worth even more. She made me feel amazing for my engagement photos and is an all-around wonderful person. If you need a makeover or special occasion makeup, she's your lady for sure. read more

This is a pretty big sephora with many employees always ready to help when you don't need it but then when you do, you can't find a single person. I often want someone to help me when I enter but not always the first person I see, but they can be persistent in their offers of help. I don't wear a lot of makeup and when I do I want it to be very natural. I try to find an employee that encompasses that style. Many are so heavily made up that I really wonder if they could help me with what I'm looking for. During my visit I was trying to find some eyebrow color that is a better match than what I currently have. It took awhile for me to find someone to help me. When I did it turned out she wasn't very friendly and seemed a little rude. She demonstrated a technique but gave these weird short commands, "down," "me," kind of like I was a dog. I really wasn't sure what it was she wanted me to do. Ultimately I got annoyed and just told her I liked what she did and ran away. I probably won't be back to that sephora anytime soon. read more

The 'beauty specialists' aren't too helpful (and don't even answer your questions!) and it seems like I have to flag one down every time I come in. The selection of products at this store are so-so and they often run out of items! One plus is their beauty insider. You get e-mails about new products and if you get 100 points ($1 purcase = 1 point) then you get free samples when you buy something. read more

Meh, is exactly right. Love this location, downtown right at the edge of Westlake so its always easy for me to stop in after work. Horrible customer service. The employees here are more concerned about catching shoplifters than helping the paying customers. I came looking for a cc cream and wandered the store for about 15-20 mins browsing without anyone asking me if I need help. I finally approached a sales person who pointed me to a product that had a very thick texture when I said I was looking for something very light. I also mentioned a Stila Summer gift set I saw online and the employee looked at me like I was speaking a foregin language, she said...stila? Summer? Like she had never heard of either. Finally at checkout I presented an email on my phone that was a BareMinerals Complextion Perfection Trio sample set of primer, foundation and powder. It was an email that I received 2 days prior to visiting the store. She went to the back to get my sample set and returned with only the darkest color (my skin tone is beige/olive) and this color was the dark caramel one. She said they were out and this color was all they had stuck it my bag and said maybe you can use it as a bronzer. Just a thumbs down all around read more

This place is huge! They carry almost every brand here (almost...) I'm a huge Sephora lover (based in OC), so while on vacation in Seattle, I saw this and I was super stoked. I honestly didn't need anything, but just wanted to go in and buy something almost like a weird souvenir that only I knew was a souvenir. But no one greeted me, even when I was looking for someone to help me lo ok for something, the girl just walked away to ask another coworker something (that had nothing to do with the store...) so it just put me off. I'm the kind of person Sephora must LOVE. I walk in with a specific need but no product in mind, and since I don't know a damn thing I take the first thing the clerk suggests. Need a creamier concealer? This is my favorite (okay). You should pair it with some kind of powder--I love this one, it's got a little sheen that will brighten the skin under your eyes (okay). Oh, the skin around your eyes has been dry? Here's my favorite for that, and it's really quite reasonably priced (choke--okay). And wasn't there some cheek stain I wanted to try? Might as well, since I'm here. But wait, I'm making it sound like I was harassed into purchasing a bunch of crap I didn't want or need. I'm not a complete tool, I will say no to even the sweetest salesperson. But they're so damn helpful and nice here that is is very easy to take their advice. I definitely didn't plan on spending as much money as I did (when you qualify for the free gift you know something's amiss). But I went home, washed my face, and dutifully applied all my new magical products. And I looked great. Better than before, and with no more effort than I usually go to. Huzzah! read more

Customer service should begin and end with a smile, no matter what. Poor customer service is when you do not greet each customer as they enter your makeup 'artist' retail job. As my first trip to the Mecca of all that is luxury cosmetics, I was excited even though I knew I wouldn't drop a single cent in this trip as we are still reveling in the chunk of change that is related to moving across the state. Not one 'artist' asked if we needed any assistance nor offered a kind glance until a male 'artist' told us to enjoy our day as a part of our exit after final purchases. I'm not sexist either but can males really make good makeup artists? Anyway, I thought that was strange. Then again, I did see a middle-aged man in purple lamè booty shorts just a few hours prior in Capitol Hill. I hope other Sephoras aren't adopting the be-a-snob policy because that was what I got. Sold me a men's cologne kit so I can sample and then pick the one I like to get full bottle. I picked my favorite sent and they don't have stocked. Told me that they might stock around Xmas. It's August!! Terrible customer service and offered no solutions. I even offered to come back another day to give them time to get it from other store, but no can't do that either. Don't trick me to come into the store and then don't have a product available. So frustrating. False advertising. read more

It's good, in an evil sort of way. Yeah, it looks pretentious and like something only the sorority girls would go to, but it's not. Don't let the cold modern decor and pushy too-much-makeup staff fool you. This place has some great merchandise. If you are looking for good quality makeup, perfume and bath products this is the place to go. They carry a wide variety that range from super expensive movie star quality to Sephora brand at only a few dollars. They do carry my favorite Bare Essentials which is a really nice natural mineral based makeup. Also all sorts of perfumes for guys and gals. I love their assorted brush bins. If you (being a Yelper) are reading this and wondering what I am talking about, here goes: While purchasing some eyeliner, I discussed with Ryan about my beloved Jurlique brand and whether or not they carried it at the actual store (they do online). Without even asking him to do anything, he asked me to go to the natural section with him to look at some products. To my surprise, he helped me to loads of samples of his favorite natural brands! It was like skincare Christmas! Everyone knows Sephora rocks, I just hope people get to meet Ryan and be as lucky as me when they go there!.. Smallish Sephora but stocked nicely & great customer services. Was greeted immediately & asked several times if I was doing ok or needed any help while browsing around the place. Store was busy too so it was nice to see them taking care of everyone. The work stations are a bit messy but well stocked with supplies to try on the testers. We were in town and M. had a case of pimple outbreak situation. This created a perfect excuse for me to visit Sephora. I was left alone when browsing. Feels that way but I know the security is watching closely...ha-ha. How come I know? Well, the staff have headsets. Also every time at a Sephora, if I accidentally do something silly, such as opening the wrong bottle to smell, one of them comes running to "help" me. But that another whole story for another time. I was soon attended when I needed assistance. Always trying out skincare products before committing to a full size, I requested a sample from Murad but also asked for recommendations. I walked out with 2 samples, actually 3. The SA was very helpful and kind enough to include a facial cleanser sample. M. was thrilled testing out the products and requested that I get him get him a box of the invisible dots by Peter Thomas Roth. FYI, it is not truly invisible but it kind of works. read more

Millionth time in here, first time buying from Sephora. As I've been there before, I'm always please with their layout, employees offering to help and prices. Reason I went it today was to buy a Sephora by OPI nail polish a friend let me borrow and of course I FORGOT the name. Well lovely girl asked if I needed help. I was honest and said "I have no clue" then chuckled while I showed her my half chipped nail polish I had on, lol. I asked about the color and in less than a heartbeat pointed it out and handed it to me. I was extremely impressed. I tried the tester polish just to make sure, and yup she was right about the color. Do they train their employees for this sort of thing? Haha, if they do that's badass. Definately shopping in this location again!! read more

First of all, I love Sephora. This is not for anything but one reason...Customer Service. As soon as you come in, as long as the store isn't too busy, you are greeted and asked if you need help. They let you try samples to take home to try the product and are more than agreeable to teach you how to use the product(s). You can also schedule to have your make up done based on the professionals at the location. Girls...make sure you look at the girl who will be doing your make up to see if you like their style. That should make it more likely you'll have a successful encounter. I haven't had any issues yet, but I'm pretty picky. Also, the samples they give are amazing. They give you a little 1/2oz or so sized container of the product to try at home to see if you will come back and buy it. They also have an amazing return policy. It's no wonder that there are droves of people in here all the time. I said it in the beginning, I'll say it again; They start with focusing on the customer and that handles the rest. read more

I bought a palette at Sephora in Paris a few months ago and it wasn't right and never used it, and so when I was returning it an employee told me i couldn't return it and seemed very suspicious of it. The staff at this particular Sephora are really helpful. The took my mom around the store for forty five min to find her the perfect lipstick in her perfect shade of dark pink... then five minutes later when she wanted to exchange it for something even better that I found her... they didn't give her a hard time. Paradise! Every time I go in to Sephora, I feel like I could be walking into my wildest dreams. As a makeup artists and esthetician, I can fully appreciate the wide range of cosmetics, hair care, skin care, and perfumes they carry. Also, the Sephora line of brushes is inexpensive for high end tools and they carry fun things like feather eyelashes to bring out the diva in everyone. The staff is ALWAYS friendly, even the guards! Ya know that phrase, "kid in a candy store"? Here I am kid and everywhere is candy. Mirrors, brightness, makeup in every color...Sephora might as well be my chocolate factory. One neat thing I like is getting 3 free samples with every purchase. It's cool if your a product junkie like me and want to try whatever is new, popular, out of your budget otherwise, etc. Also, this sh*t ain't cheap. I think I just spent $50 on eyeshadow. You know paint for your eyelids that only covers two square inches of your body? But it's okay because I'm getting old (27) and I need all the help I can get. Although the staff seemed all right, they more or less left me alone after that initial greeting. I love how the male staff members have crazy makeup on. I liked my first trip here! I got my makeup done by a very nice gentleman and it was totally fun. He tried some colors that I would not normally choose and it looked great! The only thing that was too much for me was the dark lipstick, which is easily remedied. I picked up some great tips for applying my makeup and supplies to make the process easier. The 45ish minute makeover is free with $50 or greater purchase. It felt like a pretty good deal! Also spent some time talking with the hair gal and she gave some great advice. Downsides was trying to navigate the store since it was crazy packed! Also they need to have makeup remover/tissue stations! If you are going to have open testing products (which is a little icky...) you should make it easy for people to wipe the products off! I'll definitely be back though, loved the selection. read more
