DO NOT EVER use Sally's Beauty Ion Brilliance Color Permanent hair dye! I have been a loyal Pro customer for over a decade and never had any issues with any products. This is now the 4th time I've ordered the same colors (though today I went with a darker color, which didn't change anything). When you open the tube, the usual color is a cream color until you mix it with the developer, as anyone who uses this method knows. The last 2 times I ordered my colors, the dye is coming out fluorescent pink! I thought maybe they changed their formula. NOPE! Not only did my hair come out orange instead of intense red but it gave me hot roots and didn't cover the grays around my face. I called customer service (in India) but I was told I can return the dye to my local store. I asked, "If I dyed my hair the last 2 times, why would I still have the dye and do you think I just leave the boxes and used tubes in the garbage for over a month." Her response... Then there's nothing we can do for you. I had a few choice words before telling her I'll blast Sally's all over the Internet. And here we are. I believe this is product that has been sitting in a warehouse due to the "supply chain" and now they're just trying to get rid of it. Don't waste your money or time! read more

I went to the Sally beauty on northgateway on black Friday 2022. The manager told me that he would give me a razor for every trimmer I buy. So I bought 2 Trimmers And the manager said to come back next week because he doesn't have any razors in stock. I came back 3 days later and they told me to give them a call because they don't have any razors in stock yet. I'm leaving this review for my fellow ethnic sisters in the area. Friendly and bubbly weekday attendants aside (seriously, the nicest WEEKDAY Sally's staff I've ever encountered. The weekend worker will glance up at you as you enter and give one-word answers.), this is a mini-haven for gorgeous healthy natural hair. What do I mean by that? Well, let's just say there's an ENTIRE ISLE dedicated to us dark and lovely homo sapiens: Coconut oil, jojoba oil, argan oil Moroccan oil as well as top of the line cleansers/co-washes, leave ins, cholesterols and hair butters. For my fairer friends, I know some of what I've written may leave you scratching your heads like "What is she talking about?", but trust me when I say that it is my expert opinion that there's nothing more high maintenance than a black woman's hair. So, just know that this store is a huge deal. Nod and smile. There are plenty of products for everyone, generally. I think it's hilarious people complain about the some prices and what not on here, do you also go to a Sears, Macy's or Albersons ' yelp and complain about their corporate prices? (Just saying lol) With that said they're very fairy priced store, which I know many local businesses use their products for their own salons and spas without complaint. Okay seriously the most lack luster uncaring customer service I've ever felt with. So bored with their jobs the three of them. THREE. In a 200 sq ft space ignored me till I finally asked for help when I did it was met with eye rolls. I know what I was there for. I knew what I needed. Needed to know where it was and how much I needed. Mind you everyones hair is different. Everyone needs a different amount. But I asked for bleach she gave me the option of a packet or a huge tub meant for a salon. Turns out that there was a medium amount. When I asked for a mid size amount she said there wasn't one(when I drove to the down town location with half my head bleached turns out she a god damn liar) When it came to developer she couldn't be bothered and gestures towards an area turns out it's in a COMPLETELY different section then the hair dyes which was not the area she gestures towards. I ask for foils she gets a annoyed and walked me to another section and does a Vanna White impersonation rolls her eyes and walks away. It was humiliating just to shop there. And then my bad I need help finding their purple shampoo and conditioner because I'm bleaching my hair and it turns out they only have two kinds and none of them can even help me pick. All three had very obviously home dye/bleach jobs they all clearly were upset I spent 150$ there they even OPENED THEIR MAIL while I was there. Took a package and opened it from ups while I was checking out. I had to got to the Sally's downtown after I had already started because they misinformed me and were unenthused by anybody that didn't work there. I mean it when I say I despise people who leave terrible yelp reviews it really seems unproductive and pointless and you normally don't understand the other situation but for three separate people to unanimously treat me that way and when I called back to ask for inventory before I drive out of my way to get the extra product they hung up on me. As a licensed professional in the beauty industry, I come to Sally's to just grab a few quick things since pro stores have really awful hours. Sadly, after my experiance this week, I will never be back into Sally's. I will wake up hours early to go to a pro store. I watched a sales associate flat out tell a customer confused about a product "I don't know" repeatedly. Customer service 101 is to NEVER tell a customer "I don't know". Look it up, ask another associate, anything other than "I don't know". It's your job to know. The sales associate, who's name tag said Dani, really drove home her horrible attitude when she rolled her eyes at the customer when she asked a question. I could have easily answered this customer's question. It was a simple, basic question about a wax pot that anyone who has worked with one should be able to answer. But that's the issue, they do not hire professionals to work here. This associate obviously has zero beauty industry experienced. So, instead of helping, Dani just had the customer return the product. I have also had issues before where the store's registers, which I'm pretty sure are from the 90's, have charged my card multiple times. The store wouldn't do anything to fix it, so I had to go through my bank to reverse it. Overall, this place is hot mess central. read more

They have a great return policy, decent prices, organised for inventory, good hours, available parking and huge selection of DIY products to choose from. The sales associates I've met are kind and will genuinely help you the best they can. They're pretty knowledgeable about the products, processes & tools they sell. They were cool about letting me return some Shears that I bought & were dull and assisted me in choosing a higher end pair. I don't personally purchase a lot of their products because I'm set on some brands they don't carry but that's not to say they aren't quality products as many of my friends can attest. Sally's is a fun place to check out, I always enjoy stopping in for whatever random beauty supplies I need. read more

Unlike other Yelpers, I had a great experience at this location today! I went in to pick up a foiling comb, and was greeted very nicely. I asked how the associate (I believe her nametag said Evan) was doing and she was very happy that I asked. She offered me the sales flyer for the week and went to help another customer as I didn't have any questions, and was very helpful a few minutes later when I had questions about choosing lipstick from the ones that were on sale. We're both redheads so she even helped me choose colors that I absolutely love. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the display with the lipstick was on the very bottom shelf, and I just find it odd to put a shelf talker/sale/monthly special item in such an easy to miss spot. It was a little uncomfortable to kneel while we discussed colors, but for a buy one get one free special, I didn't mind all that much :) In short, Evan was very funny, nice, and attentive, even despite the fact that the other customer she was with was very short with her, and I like the selection. It's one of the smaller stores I've been in, but it has what I need. This is the closest Sally's to me and I will definitely be back. read more

I go to this Sally's on the reg for my hair dying and bleaching needs. Yeah, it's a small store and yeah, sometimes the associates are busy. But every single bad review about customer service really just makes me think the reviewer themselves are not very nice to be around. Every time I go in, I wander down the dye aisle looking at my options. If I have questions, they answer them when I go to the front and often make suggestions. Usually I have a funny chat with the other customers and share some laughter and tips with the girl(s) who are working. I am giving them 4 stars based on convenience, cleanliness, friendliness, pricing, and that they have their own (allbeit small) parking lot. The minus star is due to selection, proximity to traffic, and the fact that they're often understaffed. I don't know why the rest of yall are having such issues. I've been giving myself an all over color to get from a natural level 7 dirty blonde to platinum level 10. My hair looks fabulous! I love the advice and products I've recieved here. Some of my favorite products are: -prism lights lightener which comes in violet and blue to combat orange and yellow tones. -ion color brillance bright white toners. They come in several tones and are the best toners I've ever used. -ion absolute perfection booster and color sealer. They really help protect your hair from damage when using peroxide developer. I've saved so much money doing my own hair. I think I spend about $15-30 everytime I touch up my roots compared to $100's at a salon. The personnel at Sally's are really great too. They'll tell you about your options and give advice on how to go about things. I Paticularly like the manager. read more

The employees then have the audacity to act completely befuddled because a customer is surprised that their two items with $4.99 price tags are ringing up as $19.99. Really? As I was browsing through the store they were talking all sorts of nonsense about a customer that just left because they had the gall to interrupt their conversation about Zac Effron, to ask them a simple question about a curling iron. You will get the savings immediately as well as a coupon on a future visit and additional savings throughout the year. I visited this location recently and was amazed compared to the other locations near by. I was greeted at the door and was offered help immediately! (When other stores you have to hunt to find someone to help or even acknowledge me) The store was very clean and nicely kept. I did end up needing help with hair color which they were more than happy to answer ALL of my questions and even offered me pro tips which worked! I even signed up for their beauty club member ship that yes was $5 but it was for a whole year and I got a coupon for $5 off! Plus the I ended up saving $10 for being a member! Amazing!!!!!!! They get a BIG ZERO for the dog whistle heard around the world. Profiled wasn't what we felt, more like dehumanized. I have been a Sally cardholder over 20 years. The store in Des Moines WA closed so I travel to Burien often. Well I stopped in this store in Northgate with my daughter; who does not share my features, she has the melanin I lack. We could pass as friends. So as we walk over to the make up the clerk is checking out a customer. There is also an asian couple shopping as well. My back is turned I'm looking at my daughter as she is holding make up to my skin to match a color & my daughter whispers why is she looking at us? Then the clerk gives the dog whistle. "Can I help you find something"? My daughter says; "no"! Around the corner comes a blonde clerk; literally she came around the corner just to peek at us. We make eye contact. Then she quickly walks away. I pay no mind, trying to deesculate in my mind for my daughter sake I try to ignore the feeling. Then I turn around the clerk is standing there at check out counter, literally body turned to us just staring, then I look at asian couple, look back at her. Then here comes another clerk trying to "restock". Right behind us. I checked out of my body; literally. I've been profiled with daughter before; in fact most of her life I got it from both sides, but this was different. It was literally like we were being hunted by everyone who worked there. I threw the products down & said "Let's go". I am not comfortable here! Walked out with a raised voice complaining of how they made US feel. Well we went next store to Walgreens, & I gladly spent my $80 there. My daughter says "mom it happens everyday to me". Then I broke down to think my baby deals with this on daily.
