I was really excited to check out Elliot Bay Book Company but noticed the Glossier across the street. I haven't bought from Glossier in a long time but I really did love their toner and balm cleanser so I knew I had to check them out. As soon as I entered I was greeted right away, the sales associate had told me of their promotions and since it was after Christmas there were a lot of great deals. I wandered around and ended up choosing a lip balm, I wish I could buy the perfume but it was too large and wouldn't be able to bring it back in my carry on. After I let the sales associate know which item I wanted to purchase, I paid for it with her and was told to wait while my order was being prepped. The store itself is decorated pretty minimally not including the boulders with the whimsical mushrooms, the seating is also perfect for non shoppers where I left my husband. I don't believe there are many physical stores throughout the country so I was excited to get to check them out. read more

I was influenced by Tik Tok to visit, but my friend and I had the worst experience. We walked in and were the only customers in the store with 3+ workers and not a single one greeted us or assisted with products. We walked around the store using testers and I found a few products I actually liked and wanted to purchase, but I wasn't sure where to get them and no one was asking us if we needed help. There were two employees standing in the middle of the store just having a conversation amongst themselves. I didn't want to pay my hard earned money for a bad experience so we left without making a purchase. The store also seems large but they have the same products on the both sides of the space. Glossier is an experience and a must-stop shop when in Capitol Hill. The store itself is stunning, and the beauty artists there are very well educated on their products. I love the displays, you can touch everything, and there's so many photo ops. If I had one complaint, the process of waiting for my purchase to be ready is insanely slow. While it prevents theft, waiting can take an extra 5-10 minutes, which for tourists, may be great but as a local it's such a waste of time. read more

How fun! Very fairy/goblin core! Gen Z forward décor. It works like an Apple Store where you just pick out the things you want and they'll bag it up in the back and you take it from a window. The folks working where these cute pink jumpsuits like minions, and they were all very friendly. They keep things super sanitary by making you try stuff using little scoops and stuff. There's sinks to try out the cleanser, wash off makeup, etc. It's like the way more fun version of bath and body works. Would recommend to just see how they decked out the place and try the perfumes and sparkles and stuff! read more

This is the 4th Glossier store I've been to in the U.S and it's probably my least favorite. The one in LA, Miami, & the pop-up in SF seemed bigger and had cooler props to take pictures with. The vibes and aesthetic of all Glossier stores are very similar. I do like that this shop specifically had dog treats that say Glossier on them. This store had more of an earthy vibe with the green seating and mushroom on the rock props. It incorporated more nature. The concept is always the same. All the products are laid out and you're free to play with it, try it on at your discretion, feel the actual products, smell the perfume and candles. Very hands on. Once you're ready to place an order you find a worker (they're all working a pink jumpsuit) and they'll place the order for you on a tablet. They call out your name at the back of the store. This process is the same for every Glossier store I've been to. I don't think the make-up is anything special but I do love the scent of their perfume so I got the new rollerball travel size option. The pink bubbled pouches are everything and I wish they sold them separately. They do give you extras if you ask. I find that the zippers break very easily so I do always ask for extra pouches from each store I've gone to and have never had any problems with it. It's street parking which can be difficult to find a spot. Glad to add another Glossier visit to my list. read more

My boyfriend and I enjoy doing skin care together recently, so we knew we had to stop by here while visiting Cap Hill. He was on the hunt for a face serum, and the Super Glow: Vitamin C + Magnesium was perfect. I got the Holographic Lip Gloss. It's advertised as not being sticky, but it definitely had a slight gooey texture to it. It really gives my lips a nice shimmer though! I love it! Not only is the packaging sleek and pretty, but the products are very good quality. You don't have to break the bank either to shop here! Everything is very reasonably priced. Even the hoodies and water bottles are good prices! To purchase anything, you just need to ask a staff member holding an iPad. After you pay with them, there is a pick up window in the back corner where they will call your name. (No cash accepted!) Glossier is just as much about the shopping experience as it is about the products. You get to walk around the ornately decorated store sampling glosses, eyeshadows, and skincare, and when you're ready to purchase things, you do so with an individual salesperson, who then sends your order to be prepped in the back. I had a great experience here with a salesperson who was knowledgeable and helpful - she tried to apply a discount code that I had, and when it didn't go through, she immediately looked for a reason rather than just moving on (it was because the balm kit I got was already a special bundle price). The shopping experience is easy when it's not too crowded, otherwise you end up waiting for a salesperson for a while. Once you order with a salesperson on their tablet, you wait for your name to be called at the pickup window. For me and my 4 products, this took less than ten minutes. Bella was the one who assisted me and explained everything so well when I got in and wasn't pushy at all and following me like at other brands. The set up is like an Apple Store. Everything laid out on the modular tables are samples and they have tools to keep things clean and sanitary. They have products spread out throughout the store so it's not overcrowded in one area. I left with two new moisturizers and the dewy serum which all were amazing under my make up! My skin feels so hydrated so glad I came in finally! The Seattle location feels bigger than the LA location but that could be due to the huge globe in the entrance versus the scattered mushroom moss walls in Seattle's. There are testers throughout the store. There's a designated area on the counter for them after use. They're then sanitized and cleaned by the employees. A+ for Covid safety protocols still in place. The employees were approachable and nice. Easily paid for my limited edition Seattle bottle and my sister's regular Glossier bottle. If you're not buying limited edition items, wait until Black Friday or friends of Glossier sale to purchase if you want to save a little. I needed the limited edition 32 oz. I have been to the glossier pop up in Seattle years prior and have been to the old stores in London and NYC. So I was glad to see it return to Capitol Hill, across the street from Elliot Bay Bookstore. As it was the opening weekend, the line was long when I first encountered it at 2 pm on a Saturday. However, I returned near closing and I walked right in. Before COVID, the lines to these stores were long due to general capacity but I think it became more vital due to quarantine limits & other considerations. From what I can tell, the store was fully stocked with all the things & deals from the website (including the sets which make the overall purchase less rather than buying items individually). As predicted, the aesthetic of the store was the brand's color millennial pink with nature inspired pieces throughout the store. With mirrors, you can definitely take a few selfies there. In terms of trying items, there were general tools for the products so people don't have to use the same applicators for things like lip glosses or eye shadows. At the entrance, they let me know to tell advisors when you tried a product so they can sanitize it. Speaking of advisors, the ones I encountered were great in helping me find the items I was looking for (was reupping items so I knew what I wanted but not where they were). In the future, I would go during the weekdays for less time waiting in line during peak hours. In addition if you know what you want without trying it, I would use the pick up options since they had a separate area for that next to the store entrance. I think I would have liked the store more if I was able to find cosmetics that were complimentary to my olive skin tone. A lot of the products are more naturally colored, and I struggled to find an eyeshadow, blush, or lip product that would not blend in seamlessly with my skin or look unflatteringly light. Imagine the excitement of finding out Glossier was opening a permanent shop in Seattle. I've been a Glossier loyalist since the early days, around '09/'10 and was beside myself when they decided to have a pop-up hop on the hill. Though when I tried to go, as expected, there was a line and I don't do lines. Especially not with my then 3 year old and 92 YO grandma. Alas, I never went and was pretty bummed. Fast-forward to now!!! The amount of products Glossier has now is overwhelming. I remember when there was the plain balm dot com and 3 colors of the skin tint. Now there's like 20 balm colors/flavors I swear, same with Cloud Paint, more make-up, clothing and water bottles. Glossier is definitely an experience and I was prepared. My aesthetician and friend accompanied me, who by the way turned me on to Glossier! She makes sure I don't get any funky products that won't work with my skin type, coloring, etc. I stuck to my usuals at check-out, but being able to finally test Glossier You on my bod (the sample doesn't do it justice) made me happy. The Glossier staff were all really friendly and helpful. They have COVID protocols but you can try the make up using their disposable applicators, etc. I wandered around taking selfies, because duh, you're INSIDE GLOSSIER. I took a half-day off at work so I didn't have to wait in any lines on the weekend LOL. So there weren't many people in there on a Friday morning. I can imagine it gets a little wild on the weekends though. Plan accordingly. I was so excited to check out the new Glossier store since I went to the pop up a while ago pre Covid. This space is wayyy better, much larger, spacious, and airy. The store is set up showroom style where there are tables scattered around with products to test, hand sanitizer, etc. We went on a Thursday evening around 6pm, no line to get it, and definitely more employees than customers. While the space is beautiful, the service was seriously lacking. The greeter at the door was friendly but went quickly through all the guidelines once we're inside that it was impossible to remember everything. Masks on inside, social distance, hand sanitize, the usual. We were allowed to test items under our mask as long as you only took it off for 30-45 seconds. I approached a table with the eyeshadows where one of the employees was on the other side organizing items. I figured since I sanitized my hands, it was okay to test the shadows on my hand then wash off at one of the sinks (other items like the balms and lip gloss I definitely used the lip tester and tossed after one use) The employee was still organizing but by the 10th color I was swatching, another employee asked me to use the swabs for the eyeshadows as well. Definitely my bad there, but I'm surprised the employee near me never spoke to me earlier or ask if I needed assistance. That seemed to be a common theme throughout the store, the employees would just watch you to make sure you were following rules instead of offering any help. The social distance signs were clear, but in order to be cutesy and on brand, the other guidelines for testing were printed on the tables in like, size tiny font, which is helpful for no one. They also had small pink trays, soap dish size, to place items are you've touched for the staff to sanitize. For the tables with skincare products, it would be nice if the trays were larger (also not pink on pink, cute but not the most eye catching) because after I've tried 2-3 products the tray's already full. Overall really cute store, but oddly uncomfortable experience. I try to be conscious with Covid guidelines as much as possible, and I'm sure it's not fun for the staff to continuously have to repeat the rules. However, I wished the employees were more proactive to assist me with product recs, help demonstrate how to test items (correctly, unlike me, whoops), especially since their store setup is so different than others with the testing and purchasing since there's no register/line to pay. read more

Visiting Seattle for thanksgiving and just HAPPENED to walk by it in the dark. I knew that I had to stop before going home in a couple days.
