Love the vibe at this Sephora, mostly because Theresa was so helpful and friendly. She's definitely got that big sister who knows everything you've always wanted to learn about makeup, and she's totally willing to stop and help you (in detail, even when you keep coming up with more questions) and also fits your style even if it's not the style she uses on herself with makeup. I know it can be hit or miss with service at most makeup stores. Some of us like to be asked a few times if we need help, some of us prefer to be left alone until we ask, but I'd say the most important indicator is that they have enough people available that when you want attention, you get the right amount, and that they are friendly enough to help. read more

I always buy my cosmetics at Sephora. The staff here knows plenty about their products and are friendly. They don't try to make you buy stuff you don't need. I love their beauty insider membership, for every dollar you spend in the store, you collect points and then get a reward. I always save my points to get the full size item. Well worth it! Last time I received a microdermabrasion cream that was worth $75! The only bad thing is... everytime I am trying to be matched with new color of a foundation... it's always off. I need to find a person who can actually do it right! Oh and their return policy rocks! Who hasn't been to Sephora? It's an impressive mecca of cosmetics and skincare potions. While the staff isn't terribly helpful (there are some exceptions), I got a great face-picker extractor tool, and some quality tweezers for my at-times-unruly brows. Recently I came for an eyeshadow primer (at the recommendation of someone who worked at C.O. Biggelow of all places) and walked out with a ton of other wonderful goodies. If only I had a $1 for every time I've walked through these doors. I love Sephora! I don't love poor or slow customer service & sometimes this location has a lil of both. Lucky for me, I know my way around the brands well enough that I don't need the usual sales-pitch that sometimes comes along with a visit to the store though not quite as aggressive as the girls at Bath & Body though that's another review altogether. Anyhow, it's stocked with the higher-end items & they're displayed on the floor for your browsing which I prefer over having to browse right around the register area (see Macy's, Carson's etc) where they can pounce on you adding time to an often already loaded shopping trip. I don't know any of the sales people by name but I do wish the sales staff were a little more "up" on the latest raves & reviews hot across the beauty blogs & magazines. I've often had to bring them up to date on why a certain product is preferred over others. Unlike the MAC store, where the employees/makeup artists appear to have a MACography bible engraved in their brains with the latest technique, shade & application process out, Sephora is a cutting edge beauty store employed by employees, nothing more, nothing less. Stopped by Sephora to stock up on my favorite face masks. Sadly, they didn't have the ones that I wanted, but they had a new stock of face masks in the same brand so I was pleasantly surprised! Sephora is getting in on the k-beauty phase which means I can buy Tony Moly products in the store instead of only online. We were helped by Michelle who was incredibly helpful. I was looking for specific products that weren't on the shelves yet and she kindly went to the stockroom to dig them up for me. She also helped my friend find a lipstain that looks amazing. I've heard that other Sephoras are known for their pushy staff, but that was definitely not the case here. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. This is girl-heaven for me. Gia is my go-to source for perfect advice...she remembers my name, what we talked about last time AND the products she's recommended for me before. Seriously - ask for her the next time you go in! As far as I'm concerned Sephora can't be beat - yes the staff is "attentive" but I'd rather be asked a couple of times if I can be helped than have to jump up and down and yell in order to get some help. A nice lady offered help after Ive been in the store for a while but when I was referred to another section I ended up getting lost and referred again to another lady who didn't even help me at all! I ended up leaving cause it was a chaotic mess of a store! Why they should refer a client to another staff if the store was small to begin with! Why don't they focus on one client at a time instead of tossing the clients around to different staff that don't even pay attention to the clients needs?! Very very nice! I had questions on the new MAC pallets and was accommodated nicely! I didn't have too many questions as I tend to do my research.... I'll admit I got the stink eye a little bit from the lady behind the counter but I think she just has a RBF, (No disrespect) because when I talked to her she was pretty chill. I made away with some reasonably priced liquid liners and masks too! The store was clean, the people were friendly, and all in all I'd say I'd come back. I don't like leave something negative but it happened not the first time. Me and my friend usually stoping there to buy some stuff, not very often but once a month it happens. I never saw nobody more unprofessional as Sephora workers at this location. Lady at perfume section was just following step by step and fixing whatever we touched and giving a look like we coming to just mother her. Later she was staring at us like we trying to steal something, she sent 4 girls to check out on us. Like if I will need a help I will ask but don't do that when couple times I'm saying I'm fine and i don't need a help. Just because im coming with no make up and no fancy dress it's doesn't mean you have to treat someone different. I always come here for makeup and skincare, and although my number one preference is Nordstroms for all of this, I will say the Sephora staff is very knowledgeable about their products. I came to get a de-spot corrector, and they gave me a tour of all of the products they carry and told me how each individual product differs from the next. At the end, I went with the Peter Thomas Roth one, let's see how it works! Also, I feel like every single time I buy something from here, I have enough points to get a free product. The products are small but perfect for on-the-go, such as a mini Laura Mercier mascara (fave!). Another great thing about Sephora is that there are always SO many employees. Stopped in to get a new liquid cover up about fifteen minutes before they were closing on a weekday. A girl named Karen helped me shortly after walking in. She was really sweet and very knowledgeable with make up. I'm currently pregnant and haven't been able to tan so I'm rather pale. Karen helped me find a liquid color that matches as well as a powder that I fell in love with. It's a Too Faced cocoa powder that smells so good. The liquid foundation was Make Up For Ever that was waterproof, definitely essential for the summer. I'm not very experienced with make up but Karen helped me feel great about everything. I love Sephora! And of course this is the one I come to the most since it's in the mall that I come to the most. The only thing that would make it better is if they started carrying MAC, but I won't hold my breath for that one... Fortunately, they have a great selection of most of the high-end makeup brands out there, and I love that everything is "self-serve" and you can test pretty much everything. And if you don't like something, they have plenty of stations for cleaning off too. I've only had to ask for suggestions once or twice, but the girls I talked to seemed to know their stuff. They would recommend products from a few different lines, and point out the pros and cons of each. And some of the other reviews have mentioned being stalked around the store... I have never noticed that; however, I usually keep my eyes fixed down and away to avoid it also. I go to Sephora to NOT have to have constant one-on-one contact with someone (I just like to look around on my own) and that is what I intend to do! I really like their rewards program, which is just a little card they scan every time you buy something, and every time you're pretty much eligible for some sort of sample-size freebie. Or you can save your points for an even bigger prize down the road! Plus, they usually slip in extra samples of something or other. Today I was in there with my 13 year old daughter. We were looking for the Farsali elixir. I mistakenly opened the travel box not knowing their "policy" and an employee approached me. She snatched the box out of my hand and said "it's our policy and you are not to open product." I responded with "I'm sorry, I was looking at the size and ingredients." To which she then proceeded to say "well you can look at the box". I was extremely upset. I then went to find her to tell her that her approach was very unsettling and she then touched my arm saying she doesn't care. I walked away to find a manager and went back to grab her name. She removed her name tag and wouldn't provide me her first name as she was talking to other employees about what just happened. How unprofessional on all levels. I had to walk with management to point her out. While the manager apologized the employee could care less. Such a shame to have employees work in a beauty environment with an ugly attitude. read more

Ok so Im the only guy that shops here, or at least from what I noticed. Hey can you blame me for being MetroSexual??? OK, so Im obsessed with my hair but who isn't? Who doesn't want to maintain a full set of young, youthful bush of hair. This place is great for those hard to find hair products for men. Now I know this place sells allot more Beauty products geared towards woman, but as I don't wear makeup, I will leave that review to someone else, preferably a woman. Anyways, I only shop here for my hair products. I used to buy their hair pills (you know the one that promises to grow a full set of hair) here as well, but I quickly stopped buying them ever since I noticed more hair growing in places that I don't care to talk about.....lets just say in places where the sun don't shine. They have a good selection of men's hair products not necessarily the cheapest, but pretty comparable to other beauty supply shops or Beauty Salons, like Regis Hairstyle. I've tried quite a few of the products until I found the right one for me "American Crew Pomade" and "American Crew Crème". Originally my friend, who is a hair stylist, got me into this product, and after I got hooked on it, I could not find it in any store, besides the internet, that carried this brand. Oh sure, buying from the internet was fine, if you don't mind paying extra for shipping and waiting 10 days for delivery. But I don't recommend this. Before you know it, you're out of hair jell, and your walking around with a flimsy looking top for a few days, waiting for your pomade to come in the mail...not a very good experience. That's why Im so happy I found this place, and its on my way home. Now I can buy all of my Hair Products in one place. read more

I am in LOVE with this location. I usually go to Ulta looking to spend money and no one ever wants to help me. Here, I am greeted right when I walk in and asked if I need help right away. All of the employees do their makeup really well so in my opinion it makes me want to buy the products they have on! I came in for a new liquid eye liner and right when I asked for help it's like this girl knew exactly what I was looking for. She showed me the perfect liner and I'm obsessed with it. I'll probably buy it forever to be honest. During that shopping trip. I got a few products from Urban Decay's Naked line. When I got to the counter, she asked if I saw the new colors they just got in. Which I actually liked better and took instead! Unfortunately, those colors didn't work out too well for my skin tone. So the products had been opened and used a few times. When I went to return them, they gladly exchanged them for something more like my skin tone and I was literally in and out within 30 seconds. I love this sephora. The energy here is fantastic, a lot of really happy, energetic people who just want to be friendly and talk makeup with you! There have been a couple of times when the older women haven't been too cheerful or helpful, but the younger staff is always so friendly. I had a free makeover for becoming a VIB and I loved it... the girl who did my makeup was very sweet and listened to what I had to say. It was a blast... since I'm crazy about makeup :p This sephora also has every single brand/product you could want (as opposed to the sephoras in JC penney), and they also have the amazing Skin ID device to determine what shade of foundation you are (which they will gladly use on you!) One thing I don't like about Sephora in general is that if you tell them you want a product and ask them to get it for you, they frequently come back with a damaged box... (not necessarily damaged product)... I've noticed this so many times I think they are told to do this in hopes you won't notice or care and they can get rid of the damaged merchandise... not really a big deal since the product itself is ok but it's a bit shady. read more

The only reason why I'm giving that store a star is that yelp requires me to. I purchased a Stila eyeliner and contracted a severe eye infection- twice!! The first time I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Four weeks later I accidentally reused it. An hour later my eyes started itching again. I removed the make-up but it was too late. Another two or three hours later my eyes started to swell, became red and puss had build up in both my eyes. The infection took four days to clear. Beware! If you have to purchase there, do yourself a favor and go with another brand and double, triple check the seals on everything you purchase. read more

I was very happy with my most recent visit to Sephora in Woodfield Mall. The store is very bright and clean. The reason I stopped in was for some face primer and to see if they had time for a mini makeover for my eyes. I wanted to get input on a natural smokey eye for everyday wear. The staff was very friendly and set me up right away. I had Liz who was fantastic. She took a lot of time with me carefully explaining the process step by step so I could create the look at home. She was extremely knowledgeable about makeup application and the products the store carries. She was very nice. I love Ulta, and Sephora is it's nice cousin. They have about the same products, but each has some different brands or products that the other doesn't. They are very organized and provide some great quality brands and products. Some of them are a little more expensive, but very worth it. Don't get me wrong, I love Sephora...ONLINE, at least. I have experienced pretty bad customer service at this Sephora, so much so that I now choose to shop online. First of all, I'm so confused as to how all of the comments claim they're hounded by the workers. My problem is that I cannot get a worker to properly help me out, or even notice me! I went in with my sisters for their birthday, looking for a bronzer. I wandered all around the store and waited for an employee to ask me if I needed help, which never happened. They were all much more interested in talking to each other. I then approached two of them and actually had to wait a couple of minutes for them to finish their conversation in order to receive service. Also, I feel as if they are not well suited to give me advice. I asked an employee which shade of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Liner would look best with my hair and she simply told me that she didn't really know. I went to this Sephora just to browse and I was blown away by the service I received. Not even two minutes into browsing the store and and an extremely friendly and funny associate asked if I wanted to see a demonstration on how to use the specific product I was looking at. I said yes and I was automatically whisked to the Makeup Booth. She did an amazing job applying the makeup and made me feel extremely comfortable like we were already best friends.I wish I could have caught her name but I believe she said it was Jen. Once I was done with seeing how the eye shadow worked another lovely associate asked if she could do my eyeliner she showed me how the product works and did a perfect application she also made me feel comfortable and at home. I think her name was Hilary (Once again I' sorry I'm not good with names.) She also helped me with the skin IQ machine to find my perfect foundation color which was super helpful. Everyone at this Sephora was friendly and sweet complimenting my eyes and makeup. The checkout counter took no more than two seconds 'till I was being checked out. The cashier was up beat and friendly and helped me figure out the names of people I was helped with. Such as Shanye, Carmen,and Gail as well as Hilary and Jen which I mentioned before. Even though the mall is an hour away from my house this store is amazing and has become my new favorite Sephora. And you can bet I'll be back again! read more
