Trash customer service only because I was asking to get samples!! Went on my break employee was already helping someone's ok understandable. I stopped by after work I approach first girl standing she doesn't work for Sephora she's part of who knows what brand but if I can get a Sephora employee they can for sure do that for me ok fine I see two other girls standing up in front talking one of the tells me go grab what you need bring them here and once there's someone available they can do it for you I can't because I'm on break!!! WTH! The other one there standing just turns head back towards me to repeat that the other girl wasn't able to do it because she is in fact on break nice don't you think I heard her the first time. Useless employees never fails. Oh but if I'm carrying products you're all quick to be available and bring me a basket and give me your first and last for checkout purposes. Disgusting behavior. I recently had a deeply troubling experience at this location. While shopping with my 14-year-old daughter, she was approached by a security guard who questioned her about the items she was purchasing. Despite her confusion and discomfort, she was repeatedly asked if she had only the items she intended to buy. When I intervened, the security guard accused her of concealing items in her sleeves, which was unfounded and distressing. This incident left my daughter feeling intimidated and unfairly targeted. No young person should have to endure such an experience while simply trying to enjoy a shopping trip. I urge Sephora to revisit and strengthen their diversity and inclusion training programs to ensure that all customers, regardless of age or ethnicity, are treated with respect and dignity. Even with a quick search of this location, you can see all of the people that have yelped this location that had issues with security are people of color. Thats not a coincidence, that's a pattern. Do better. This is the letter I sent to their customer service department explaining the incident in full: "Dear Sephora Customer Service, I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding an incident that occurred at your store during a recent visit. My family and I were visiting my daughter at college, and my younger daughter, who is 14 years old, was excited to shop at your store, as she loves Sephora. While my daughter was shopping, my husband, son, and college-age daughter were waiting outside. I entered the store with my daughter to assist her as she made her selections. While my daughter was in line to check out, she was approached by a security guard who asked her if she was sure she had only the items she was purchasing. My daughter, confused and startled by the question, answered that she was indeed only buying the items she was holding. As I stood by her, I witnessed the security guard continuing to ask her the same question, which made her visibly uncomfortable. When I approached to understand what was happening, the security guard, without addressing me, turned to my daughter and said he was questioning her because she had something in her sleeves. I immediately told him that my daughter had shown me all the items she intended to purchase, and he dismissed us saying, "Okay, you're free to go." It was clear to me that my daughter, a 14-year-old girl, was unfairly singled out and profiled. Her only "offense" was being a young Mexican girl shopping alone in a store wearing a black hoodie. Meanwhile, a group of white girls around her age in the store was not approached at all. The behavior of this security guard was not only inappropriate but also upsetting. My daughter was intimidated by a man who made her feel as though she was doing something wrong when she was simply enjoying a shopping trip with her own money. It is unacceptable for anyone, especially a child, to be made to feel like a criminal while engaging in a completely normal and innocent activity. I request that you review the security footage from that day to evaluate how my daughter was treated in comparison to other customers. I believe this was an example of profiling, and it is essential that Sephora address this matter to ensure that all customers, regardless of their appearance, are treated fairly and respectfully. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope to hear from you soon regarding any actions Sephora plans to take to prevent such incidents in the future." read more

My daughter received a gift card here for birthday. And when we got to the register, the cashier accidentally scratched the pin off, making the gift card unredeemable. They then told me to contact customer service, which I did. Customer service then told me there was nothing I can do about it. So disappointed in this company. I will not shop here again. read more

Bad customer service. One woman with black hair "helped us" she spoke Spanish since my mom doesn't speak English. She just wanted to leave and was telling my mom that a foundation that accentuates her fine lines looked great and that it was my moms fault for not prepping her face. I asked to try a second foundation,NARS, which looked a lot better and didn't accentuate her lines as much. She didn't blend either of the foundations well either and was being too rough. As my mom was looking at on the mirror blending the foundation with her fingers, the employee just left and didn't say anything. I hate coming to this Sephora now because employees don't want to help. I have had great experiences in other Sephora's. I also happen to go from time to time and it amazes me that I have had mainly bad customer services. I have been to this location about 6 times in the past year and only 1 has been a good experience. Bad customer service is costing Sephora money because even if I am at the mall I don't go in. And when I do order online since I haven't try the item. I haven't had a great experience with Sephora in-store for a LONG time! I never felt like I had a good outcome with in-store service, so I switched to primarily shopping online a while ago. I popped into the Stoneridge Sephora on a whim because of the beauty insider sale and I wanted to take advantage of my discount and test fragrances (hard to do online!). I was quickly and naturally greeted by Fox- she engaged me immediately about something that I was glancing at, asking if I was familiar with the brand and when I said no she asked if she could tell me more. Fox was *SO* knowledgeable, I felt like I was speaking with a beauty guru who deserved to be YouTube viral. She gained my trust, and I asked her if she could help me try and solve my 6-year-long problem of being an artificial redhead with blonde eyebrows... the one product that worked for my brows was discontinued a few years ago, and ever since I've been stuck with mismatched brows that drive me crazy! Fox was creative in trying to troubleshoot, and ultimately found a product meant for eyeliner/lipliner that worked perfectly to line and tint my brows! Couldn't have been more impressed with the service. Even at check out, the cashier caught a defect in one of the items I was purchasing and spared me from buying it only to be disappointed once I got home. Important note: this is the most diverse Sephora I have seen in the area thus far. There are more extensive brand options, a large skincare and hair care section, and a large fragrance section that had an associate zoned within it so you were actually able to be helped in buying a fragrance since nowadays only tester bottles are out! My twin daughters recently visited Sephora in search of a good skin tint, as they both have sensitive skin. When they approached Hannah for assistance, she told them she was busy--despite being engaged in a personal conversation with a coworker. Her response came across as dismissive, as if their age (16) made them less deserving of respectful and helpful service than other customers. They also mentioned that the manager was equally unapproachable and unhelpful. It wasn't until one of my daughters began to look for help elsewhere that Hannah finally decided to end her conversation and assist them. This experience was disappointing and, unfortunately, is exactly why many customers choose to shop online instead. It's frustrating to see individuals in customer service roles who lack the basic courtesy and professionalism the job requires. I hope upper management can address this by reinforcing proper training and regularly reminding employees that customers are the reason these roles exist in the first place. read more

I needed to pick up an order but I also figured I'd walk around to see what items I could try or find for Christmas. Well I walked in and perused around. People came in after me and they were all greeted as well as employees asked if they needed any help. But for me? Nothing. I was searching for something and I did circle around a few times yet none of the employees seem to want to ask if I needed help. Yes I even passed by a few employees multiple times. Is it me? Sarah is a whole entire QUEEN and yesterday she got me right. First of all, it is worth mentioning that her makeup was FLAWLESS. FLAW. LESS. I have legitimately never seen makeup this gorgeous in real life... and definitely NOT on sales associates in make up stores (Sephora included). She looked like a walking photo: face dewy and fresh (Even though it was almost 8 pm), blended PERFECTLY, not a crease or a smudge to be found.... AND it was obvious she had beautifully smooth skin underneath. There wasn't so much as a tiny pimple poking though that fabulously beat face. "Ok Riz, we get it... her makeup looked good. Why are you so obsessed?" Because, darlings, THAT is the kind of person you want to take makeup and skincare tips from! I came in looking for a new tube of Makeup Forever dark spot corrector to take with me on vacation because I was running low. I got a little worried when I found out they didn't carry that product any more, but Sarah showed me a broad range of other color correcting products in a wide variety of textures and application methods (stick, cream, and of course, liquid). I was legitimately shocked to learn that she, too, had dark undereye circles (no way!), so I knew I was definitely in the right hands. We spent about 45 minutes trying out different products and combinations until we found a combination of products that matched my skin exactly (and ultimately reduced the number of undereye products I use everyday). I ended up with another color corrector from Makeup Forever, and a phenomenal liquid concealer by Rihanna's "Fenty" line. I loved how beautifully the products blended into my skin when Sarah used her concealer brush (I usually use fingers to apply, and a beauty blender to blend). After she showed me how to effectively apply the product using the brush, I picked up one of those as well. The whole purchase set me back almost $100, but it was totally worth it. Because I had such an amazing experience, this location will be my go-to for all of my beauty and cosmetic needs while I'm in the area. Sarah, you are a miracle worker! Decided to come in on a Wednesday to get the Lancôme deal and was a bit frazzled that they ran out. One of the associates in the middle of holding boxes and stocking products jumped in and offered to help and went out of his way to can another student to reserve it for me. Wow, super flattered and delighted as I never had any associates here offered to do that for me and why I am writing this review, it's all about the service sometimes that could make and break a review. I am a true lover of Sephora! It's great because it's a one stop shop! This Sephora is always so organized and pretty well staffed. They all seem to know exactly what you are looking for. I will say a lot of the times they are super busy and have a line that wraps around the register and sometimes even don't have the color or item you want because they are sold out. That just goes to show how busy and loved they are! I don't get to visit Pleasanton often but when I do I am always a happy camper leaving with a bag of beauty!!!! read more

We went there today at 10am, the sign said it was open. We saw several workers inside but I guess they were not actually open. We came back again an hour later at 11am. Now, there was a line of people outside confused. All the workers inside were just looking at us. Finally, one awful worker came out and started whispering something to one of the customers. There were 15 people there and she just started talking to the one and then quickly closed the door. I've never seen such an unprofessional and lazy group of people. I bought a foundation here- it was the wrong shade, so I immediately returned it (literally two minutes after purchasing it) unopened and unused. They said they processed my refund, but they didn't. Sitting in sephora after asking for a mini makeover and was denied one due to "low coverage" of employees at a peak shopping time. Makes sense? No lol. There's 2 employee standing around at the front, 3 helping other customers (adults) in detail. 2 others standing around. My friends and I visited this store today, my friend was hoping to get a foundation, she was confused since she doesn't really wear makeup and asked an associate for help (Frankie). She was very rude and didn't look she was willing to help, she was complaining about being understaffed and seemed upset. she had a really bad attitude about it all. When my friend asked to see if she could help her apply the foundation all over her face for a color match she sighed and told her she could put it on herself if she wanted to and rolled her eyes. And look, we understand that she was stressed and they were understaffed but that was not an appropriate attitude to take especially with someone who really needed the help/guidance. I was waiting at the check out line yesterday and in front of me was this African American lady who for no apparent reason started to get really aggressive with the nice cashier helping her, the lady was telling the cashier in a very rude manner to put her things into the bag and I could tell the cashier didn't hear her as she was doing something, the lady than says it again in a even more agressive and degrading way to PUT HER THINGS IN THE DAMN BAG to which the cashier told her she would not help her do that because of her very rude way of speaking to her, the customer that goes on to tell her that it's her job to do what she says and that she NEEDS TO PUT HER STUFF IN THE BAG, cashier refuses and calls her manager for assistance because the African American lady starts to get very threatening in the way she is speaking. I applaud the way the nice cashier handled the situation in a very nice and professional manner and If the manger reads this SHE DESERVES A RAISE because that was A-1 service and she should not have to feel threatened at her place of work!! read more

My go to sephora location! Im literally here like once a week. Majority of the staff is soo helpful and nice! Like they care and make an effort to really help you find what you're looking for. I never experience any frustration here while shopping or at checkout (unlike the city center location) Just try to avoid coming here during busy evening or weekend hours because you will be waiting a while to be helped. I really like this Sephora, but I can understand why some of the other reviews say otherwise. I think it really depends on WHEN you come here because that correlates to the kind of service you're probably going to get. I've been here on weekends, weekdays, mornings, and evenings, and there are definitely some times I would avoid. This Sephora is probably the smallest one I've been to, so it gets really crowded in here, which leads to the associates being frazzled. If you come on a weekend evening when the mall is bustling and there are twenty people trying on different shades of one kind of foundation, it's going to be crazy hectic. But if you can come on a weekday, especially in the morning, you'll find that you can browse at your leisure and there will be at least one associate who is free to really slow down and talk to you about your needs. I know this isn't possible for everyone, but it really does make a difference! The associates I've met here are also the nicest I've met at any Sephora. I also think doing your research first helps a lot; there are so many products and variations that the associates might not always know what's best for you, but if you have a few ideas of products you might want to try, they can better assist you and tell you the pros and cons of the products you think you might like. I came here on a Thursday morning this time and was helped by an associate named Kate. She was fantastic, and she really took the time to listen to my needs and let me know her opinions. I was choosing between two foundations, and she patiently tried both on me and recommended a good primer underneath. She also didn't push me to purchase anything or agree with her; she just let me know her opinion and let me make mine. All of the other associates were really friendly as well, and one of them even offered to make me a sample of a perfume I'd been gushing over without my even having to ask (I think her name was Kendell?). All in all, probably one of my best experiences in a Sephora, and I'll definitely be back (on a weekday morning). read more
