I made the appointment to see Minh Dang as I wanted a skin overall check with a dermatologist. Making the appointment it had her and her PA listed. Then when the confirmation goes through, it lists only her PA. I kept the appointment as I thought (wrong) that at least the dermatologist, Minh Dang, would check in. No she did not. But I gave the PA a try and asked my questions for the scan. I felt overlooked on this matter as she right to wanting to do a punchy biopsy. Yet I still wanted to discuss overall skin issues like purposa. Skipped She did the biopsy. I did have a reaction and I didn't feel great how I was cared for. On my return after 14 days, the biopsy was fine. The PA spent some time with me but I didn't feel like I mattered. Her tech was there and they had a man. Prior it was a woman as the tech. I was in an open back robe due to the biopsy was on my back. It was a bit uncomfortable having a man esp as there were women techs. It was fine but again the care there was cold. And I felt like just a number since I wasn't there to do any subscription services on skincare. I felt that as the office feels like a cattle call as there's one dermatologist and there were 6-8 people in the waiting room when I left. I want to find a dermatologist who will give me care. read more

Until recently I would have given it a 4-5. But the Dr I've seen for about 30 years just doesn't seem to care anymore and even worse, if she makes a mistake she gets mad at the patient for it. This has happened twice now- one lesion she said "not cancer and never will be" but I insisted on a biopsy, it was stage two squamous. Then I had one on my face- the surgery went well, healed with no problems, then a lump formed right beside the suture line, they drained blood from it and blamed a blood thinner I'm on. Well I've had blood drawn, cut myself and had dental procedures and nothing like this happened. They put what called a pressure bandage on it which fell off on the way home- it's just a difficult area for a pressure bandage, and they had cauterized through the needle hole and insisted they got the bleeder. Next day it's back but took couple days to get in because she was " done with this problem" it wasn't her problem and that I wouldn't do what she said, although I had- to a T. She was verbally very nasty to me told me there was nothing she could do. I'm still trying to find some to help as it continues to get bigger and a black eye is developing and I'm afraid of what could happen. I did find an urgent care who was astounded that the surgeon wouldn't fix her own problem and agreed that a tiny bleeder found a tract to where it made this blood hematoma. The pressure in it has caused it to find little tracts under my eye and since the lump is hard now it is probably clotted. The only Dr who maybe can help is out of town for another two weeks. I've been coming here 30 years but I won't go back. This particular Dr played a role in another disaster with somone I know and I couldn't hardly believe it. I sure do now. She makes a mistake, she won't own it and fix it, she blames the patient and gets insulting about it. It's time she gets her mind right or retires. read more

Dr. Dang is one of the best Dermatologists that I have been to. She just did a Mohs procedure and it was crazy, but she did an amazing job and there will be very little scarring. I highly recommend her and her staff. read more

Good doctor. Incompetent front office. At my visit they could not find my referral that had been sent multiple times. Once found the office manager had to explain that you do not have to print and scan a document that is already on a computer. I then insisted they add my wife's referral, which had also been sent multiple times. Now at her visit they again cannot find our referrals and are being rude. read more

I saw a PA here in March. She did a great job manually removing some milia cysts which I have had done before. I have Kaiser but they told her she indicated she would charge $75 and she did. All went great. Fast forward to 11/2023, that PA is gone. The new PA tells me it is $150 which I was not quoted over the phone mainly because I get a sense the staff is directed not to do so to avoid confusion. Long story short, I prepared to leave because I would rather not spend much on cosmetic stuff with it being Christmas time and she did agree to do for $75 which she did not have to do. That said, she said my milia were small and that she would use cautery. I explained that I have sensitive skin and reacted poorly when I had some skin tags removed and that they scarring took nearly a year to go away. She dismissed my concerns. I honestly feel she was doing what was most convenient for her and maybe what was most expeditious so she could move on to more pricey services. She did not use any special glasses or lense to look at my skin. She kept asking me to point out my milia with either a normal mirror ( I am 48 so couldn't see well) or one that was like 4x which only allowed me to see a portion of my face. Well, now my entire face is broken out in bumps, many which are painful. This all could have been avoided if she took the time to listen to the patient and removed the milia manually. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Dang for years. I received very good care and have no issues with the medical treatment I have received. My issue is with trying to make an appointment. They used to send out postcards with reminders and you could call and make an appointment. Now there are no reminders and if you call you just get a loop of advertisements for the office. No notification of being on hold, just endless propaganda, I submitted an appointment request via the website, received an acknowledgement but after a week I still have not been scheduled for an appointment. I also tried requesting a text message as offered when you call in, but that didn't work, either. I just want to make an appointment for a skin check, why is it so difficult?? read more

Hi folks, We appreciate Dr. Minh Dang and her wonderful office. We go to her office site in Pleasanton. The front desk is always friendly, and that makes us relax. They are a huge plus in person and on the phone. Yesterday, my hubby had a follow up with Avis Chiu, PA to Dr. Dang. This was the second time my hubby had seen her, and I always go in with him. In July, he had a large mole scraped off, they did a biopsy, and it was Basal Cell Carcinoma which thankfully came back as a low Cancerous mole, Yesterday, he had a follow up for the biopsy results and had the scraped place burned off (can't remember the name of the burning technique). Hira took the information and was so pleasant and her attention-to-detail was appreciated. Then Avis, PA came in the medical room and told us exactly what she was doing, step-by-step as she burned off the mole area. Avis, PA is so wonderful and thank goodness Dr. Dang has her as her Physician Assistant. This is a BUSY, BUSY OFFICE. We both highly recommend Dr. Minh Dang and Avis Chiu, PA. I found Dr Minh Dang through my insurance page, and checked her reviews in Yelp. She had several bad reviews regarding her attitude. Me and my wife made appointments for different reasons. We both came out super happy. Great attitude, super professional. One thing is, she doesn't goof around and lose time chit chatting, which is understandable since she has full agenda. Dr. Minh Dang is a decent enough doctor, she won't spend much time with you and is always moving at what seems like a mile a minute, like she's rushing through your "care." she knows her stuff though, I'll give her that and she isn't conservative with the meds, heavy handed even. the big issue is her front office staff, there are a couple of unapologetically racist individuals among them, which is ironic. they have no problem applying different policies to different patients based on unethical factors (presumptions and precautions they call it) and don't exactly try to hide it and certainly don't try to apologize for it. once I made sure I had irrefutable evidence regarding this and they knew they were backed into a corner they simply hung up the phone in my face after a few moments of panic and stuttering. if you're white with private insurance you'll be just fine. anyone else, even with private insurance--good luck! if you can tolerate and make it past her staff you might be OK too. read more

When a patient with family history of melanoma has a suspicious area that needs checking, it is not acceptable to wait 8 weeks for an appointment. This happened to my husband earlier this year, and we had to find another doctor who could see him immediately, confirm he had melanoma, and have surgery to remove it - all before Dang's first available appointment would have even happened. Today when calling to request an appointment for myself to check a suspicious area (and with a family history of melanoma), I'm told Dr. Dang is booking eight weeks out, and the schedule is very tight because of one week of vacation and two weeks of training on the new computer system. When people are seeking a physician's input on a condition that can be fatal, I would hope for more flexibility in the schedule than this office offers. read more

I have seen her a few times over the past 15 or so years. she is good at very delicate surgeries, removed a cyst from my nose. helped me with a cyst that was on my cheek and given me good advice for skin care over the years. I visited her yesterday and as always, she took her time to talk to me, explain all my questions regarding aging skin and how to take care of it and look my best. gave me some options. she is the only one I would trust with my skin and any type of enhancements. her staff was also great. especially want to point out Cynthia, she helped me further and answered many questions also. everyone was patient with me and so welcoming. I can't say enough about Dr. Dang, I felt very confident with her on my first visit, she explained everything i needed to know, the surgery was painless, she is always thorough about numbing you , the scar will be minimal, she is a perfectionist and won't give the patient any less.I am grateful because she worked on my face and it looks great. Every time I enter the office, I'm greeted with a clean office and a professional environment. The doctor herself gets right to the point with her diagnoses and procedures, which is always appreciated when time is money. As a college student, it always feels as though I'm lost when it comes to taking care of my skin. Once I visited Dr. Dang, she prescribed me a face wash, moisturizer and sunscreen (one specifically for my face, and one for the general body). After creating a simple and quick routine with her products, my skin remains as clear and healthy as it could possibly be! I came in here because I needed a good doctor to assess my hair fall situation. I had an appointment at 9.40, I came in around 9.20 for check in, but the doctor saw me at 10.30. This was very unprofessional as they do not value time. She looked at my scalp and straightway suggested to do biopsy. When I said I want to think about it doing it later, she stopped paying attention to my concerns. Basically she did not try to understand my hairfall problem, asses properly, answer my questions, tell me what could be going on. All in all for an hour of wait, she would have hardly spent couple minutes with me. Her attitude was I do biopsy else I'm not interested in treating you. Bad customer service. I've been going to Dr Dang at the Pleasanton office for several years. Both for standard dermatology and also for Botox. The service for Botox was fine. But I was in recently for a skin check and to have some pre-cancerous spots frozen off. She froze four spots. Two didn't work so I called for a follow up and decided to try the Tracy location as I live between both offices. As a note, I've had this done several times before with no problems. For those of you who are used to the Pleasanton office, let's just say the Tracy office leaves much to be desired. I wasn't impressed with the location or the service. I was checking in and the receptionist told me that I needed to pay another co-pay. I told her it was a follow-up visit for two spots that didn't work and it would take about two minutes. She said no, if I have to see the Dr, there is another co-pay. My co-pay is $70 and I told her that she should waive it as I'm not asking for anything different, just to have the Dr redo what didn't work. She refused and I left. I returned home and called the Pleasanton office to ask why they were trying to charge me another co-pay. The woman I spoke to said it was their policy. I told her it was for a redo. She said sometimes the treatment doesn't work and that they charge another co-pay for each visit. I told her that nobody ever mentioned this to me and my other Drs will redo something that didn't work for no extra charge as it's called "good customer service." I told her to check with Dr Dang and get back to me. She left a message two days later saying that she spoke to Hill Physicians (Dr Dang works under them?) and they let her know it was up to each Dr to choose if they would like to waive the fee or not. So, in short, Dr Dangs office has a choice of charging or not charging another co-pay. This is the ONLY Dr that I've come across that charges. Obviously, she doesn't care about customer service. I wasn't asking for anything special, I just wanted her to do what I paid her to do the first time. Considering I was never told that it might not work and there was a possibility I would have to come back for a second treatment with a second charge, I would think that they would choose to do the right thing and have her do what should have been done correctly the first time. So, be warned, you may have to pay twice for something that should have been done correctly the first time. read more

I have seen Dr. Dang for a few skin issues in the past. My general impression is that she will do what she can to avoid insurance and bill you for the most she can. Every time I'm told it's "cosmetic" and insurance won't cover it without even an attempt to submit it. The last time I asked specifically for a PA, but they wouldn't allow it. It was for a simple skin tag removal which I could have done at home with rubbing alcohol and sharp scissors (which is all she did). I will not be returning to nor do I recommend her practice. read more

Been getting Botox for years and went to her and she actually suggested less than I normally get which saved me money and the results were exactly what I've always been looking for. Her medical assistant Brianna was amazing as well, very educated on products and procedures that could benefit me but never feeling pressure to get it all done at once. I was not impressed one bit with any of my experience with Dr. Dang's office. A ridiculous amount of paperwork to sign and initial. Office personnel not very personable...basically robots to tell you what to fill out. My first visit there and they had me lay down in the chair before even meeting the doctor. Felt very rushed and was charged more than my co-pay for basically a two second appt. Now I don't mind paying more if I actually received a service, and if i feel like the doctor was actually concerned and paid attention to me. She spoke too fast and was hard to understand, as she is rushing out the door. I got the impression that she only wants to treat cosmetic dermatology patients, and not an actual medical condition. Will not go back there and will let my GP know that I was not happy with his recommendation. read more

Sorry, I would not recommend Dr. Dang. For a nice office, I felt hurried, and when I had questions, she referred me to her assistant. As she was walking out, I asked if my insurance could help with correcting one sun spot on my face, and she quickly said no. I feel like she just wants $$$ (I can't believe insurance cannot help with one sun spot!?!) Her recommendation for one sun spot (about the size of a dime): 3 sessions at $500 each! That seems way too expensive!!! I left feeling very disappointed. As a doctor, there is very little time and care was invested in me, and to not consider my great insurance plan, I felt she was inconsiderate of people's financial interests. I wouldn't mind paying top dollar with someone I trusted had my best interest in mind. Unfortunately, I didn't feel that with her. read more

If there's a way to subtract stars or a way to give no Stars, I would have subtracted a 10 from this business. People stay away, I've seen Dr. Dang and trying to schedule for a follow up has been nothing but impossible. They're handing patients now to a doctor's assitant to write perscriptions, talk to you about your issues, etc. So I'm going why am I paying to see a board certified doctor and seeing a doctors assistant. Careful people you may just not know who you're seeing when you get there. I left today when I showed up at the reception when I discovered that I'm seeing the assistant, and requested if they could re-fill my scripts, they insist that I see the assistant. I had gone to Ms. Tan in Dr. Greenburgs office for 3 years now and I hadn't had any luck in getting rid of my rosacea acne without taking Accutane, so I decided to get a second opinion. I found Dr. Dang through Yahoo and since it was close to work...decided to get a second opinion. First of all, she had a front desk person with an extremely heave Hispanic accent. When she left me a reminder appointment voicemail, I would hardly make out what is was for. When I arrived at my appointment, I fill out all the new patient paperwork and the Hispanic receptionist asks me what my co pay is. I told her that I didn't know. She gave me a big sigh and said, "Well you can just pay $20 and if you owe, we'll send you a bill." I was like, "Hell, get off your fat a$$ and call my insurance company". That was really irritating. Then during my appointment with Dr. Dang, she looked at my face and said that it was rosacea acne (which is what my previous dermatologist told me) and said it was really hard to get rid of. She just wrote me a stronger perscription for antibiotics and a cream and called it a day. Didn't even go over with me a washing regimen, what products to stay away from and so on. All in all, I think Dr. Dang is a bright doctor but she needs to take more time out to "bond" with her patients and get a new staff. If I were to recommend a dermatologist, it would be Ms. Tan at Dr. Greenburgs office in San Ramon. read more

So I never posted on here when I had the bad experience about 2 years ago, but I now feel inspired to do so. I went to her for a reoccuring scalp problem that had never been properly treated or diagnosed. She was very nice, but her recommendation was not something I had not already tried, and I felt like she was rushing through everything and had a hard time understanding her. I opted to get a different referral to a different dermatologist who was able to provide a regimen for my problem and I have it under control. Dr Robert Greenberg in Livermore is excellent. IF you are looking for a chatty Dr, he's not it, but he is very thorough and knows what he's doing. Dr. Dang, I don't think so. read more

UPDATE: This Dr does know what she's doing! I would actually recommend her. Even if she was rude and already diagnosed me before seeing me, she was correct! Everything cleared within a week of using the meds she prescribed me! My primary dr gave me meds for years which never helped me. I see Dr Dang once and everything is cured :) I only took off one star because she could slow down a little to get to know her patients and at least have her assistant print out information after she sees you. I'm having my daughter see her after this experience. :) read more

After posting my review the office manager called me at home apologizing for my experience and offered to refund my co-pay and assured me that if I returned I would not be charge for any other service. I appreciated the call because she seemed very concerned and I thought she understood why I was upset by the whole experience. After several phone message to call her back ( which I didn't) I guess she decided to officially respond four months later. I am very well aware of my co- copays due for service with my insurance and do not mind paying if the services are provided. When I called to schedule my appointment I explained to the receptionist EXACTLY what I my daughter need to have remove and of our vacation to Hawaii in a few days. She assured me the procedure would not interfere with our trip so I went ahead and scheduled the appointment. She should have known that when removing a wart it could blister and get infected if exposed to sun or water. Which is what I was told once I was there for the appointment which last about 5 minutes. If she didn't know she should have asked a professional. I would have waited to bring her in after our trip instead of waisting my time. I was never told I need a "consultation " prior to removing a wart which is what they had to call it to bill the insurance for services. They booked and appointment that they should't have but they still got paid. I don't feel her refunding my money was actually a courtesy because they where still getting their money. The "beetle Juice " they used did nothing. The wart is still there and I still received another bill from them for more money. Even after she assured me I would not pay anything else. I am annoyed that she makes it seem that the billing was correct because Blue Shield paid them. I never heard from Blue Shield in regards to this matter. My biggest complaint is the fact the the receptionist didn't do her job. She should have known more about the procedure instead of trying to just book an appointment and get money. read more

I went for a simple mole check and saw the assistant Nicole Samaniego PA. I received a cursory check and they recommended and performed the freezing of two moles - one on the cheek and another on the lip. A few days later, I noticed that the freeze-job for my lip mole totally missed the mole by an inch (expected blood blister was the obvious location they froze). I was disappointed and decided that I would not be returning. After writing a negative review on Yelp, I was contacted by Dr. Dang personally (remember that you are not completely anonymous here). Dr. Dang was very interested in trying to resolve my concerns and offered several times to have me come back in at their cost. As additional consideration of my experience, Dr. Dang had the office not process my coinsurance payment. This included a personal follow-up note from Dr. Dang. In summary, I was not thrilled with my service but highly appreciative of the extra efforts made by Dr. Dang to try and make "right." I am still going to find another dermatologist. From my view, this office seems more geared for the plastic surgery crowd and less oriented to the cancer prevention/treatment crowd. Keep in mind that lesion/mole treatment fees are high for the first mole and much cheaper for the subsequent ones. Therefore, help make sure they get them all right up front to reduce your costs, repeat trips (each time comes with the high first mole treatment fee), etc. read more

Her entire staff was very nice and pleasant making for a comfortable atmosphere. Dr. Dang really knows her stuff. Other dermatologists refer her for procedures beyond their capabilities. I have been going to Dr. Dang regularly for a decade or more. Initially, I was referred by my dermatologist of many years because she could perform MOHS surgery. I had a cancerous mole that needed to be removed and she knew this procedure whereby she could excise the growth layer by layer and not remove any more tissue than absolutely necessary. I was impressed and from that time on went to Dr. Dang. A fair skinned person, I have an annual checkup with her, but I've also had her do some cosmetic procedures.
