I love all Sephoras. It's the kind of store you can wander in with the intention of buying "one item" (just one I swear!) and walk out $150 poorer. But the excitement of the potential usefulness of your newly purchased item(s?) (all 2 products that is) leaves no room for buyer's remorse. Until later anyways.. This store is not sanitary. I have been shopping at Sephora for 20 years, and never have I sign a Sephpra so unkept. The same sample products remain empty for weeks on end and not replaced. Because there are soo many products in here I find it difficult to concentrate sometimes. The store seems a bit unfocused - and it's not, but usually I am looking for makeup or perfume, not both at the same time so I get distracted- which is probably exactly what they want. the staff is usually pretty helpful. with the rewards card I got a free birthday gift (small travel size thing of body wash). Mostly I come here for their mascara - they have about 40 different kinds and I have a strange obsession to find THE perfect mascara. I'm getting close. read more

I returned to this Sephora a few weeks back with my friends and the level of service that we got was definitely up a notch. One of the girls working there struck up a conversation with me when she saw me sampling the Belif aqua bombs. I enjoyed talking to her about the product and she even recommended me a different for my oily dehydrated skin. I didn't buy either product but she wasn't pushy about it. I had a bunch of products in my basket and I was just offended that nobody approached me that I put the basket down and just got a gift card. I've been here plenty of times before to say the service here is awful. First, I came to get my skin matched to a foundation a couple of times before and every single time they match me to the wrong skin color. Second, I've been here before for skincare and every time I came they gave me something for acne. Reality is I never needed anything for acne but since they're the "experts" I gave in. I realized after buying other skincare products elsewhere that my face looked better without using acne products. The products I have bought here have been a waste of money. So, I'll start by saying that in the past I've had a bad experience at this store. One day while I had been in the store for about 10-15 minutes with no one greeting me or acknowledging me, I had 2 store employees practically push me aside to go look at make up for each other. No excuse me, no hello miss, just pushed me aside to go play with make up that wasn't even for a customer. These were store employees mind you. I spoke to corporate Sephora, they said speak to the manager, I spoke to the manager, they basically said we looked at the footage and you're wrong that's not what happened. I wrote back that it most certainly was exactly what happened, and never heard back from them. No apology or anything. That being said, I had a VERY nice experience there last night. I signed up for a beauty consult ($50 min purchase but you get 45 mins of one on one time with a staffer). She was wonderful, her name was Maura and she talked me through all kinds of tips and tricks for how to get the look I want. She went over the basics, what tools to use, why to use certain colors and effects and so on. She even went over my allotted time and did both my eyes (I had gone in specifically for eye make up), just so I wasn't walking around the mall with one eye done up. I'd definitely recommend Maura and hope everyone uses her services, I'm planning on going back for another consult with her in the future! read more

Ashley in skincare was incredible! Asked for product advice, and she sat me down, brought over the products she herself uses, not overly expensive products that they are usually forced to offer. She made sure that everything she offered was in my price range, and gave me 3 or 4 samples of the higher end products to save me some money. After spending about 30 min with her I went to get in line and it was about 25 people long. I was there for about 2 minutes and she came over and asked me to come back to the skin bar. I was confused, but when we walked away, she told me she was going to check me out using iPhone so I wouldn't have to wait. Such a great experience. I recently went into this store and was greeted by Ashley. She was so helpful when it came to all the questions and concerns I had with my skin and the products she recommended. She worked with me to find a new skin care routine, making sure I understood each product completely and explained to me how each would affect my skin. She was so sweet, very knowledgeable and super patient with my million questions. This has to be the worst Sephora I have ever been to. Let me start of by saying I was not greeted when I walked in. I shopped around for about 15mins and then I had to ask for assistance since the employees were too busy chatting with each other. 30mins later they send a "wanna be dermatologist" to help me. She starts telling me about how my skins looks dry and how I shouldn't use aveeno on my skin. I have eczema, so aveeno works wonders. Fast forward she helps me find a foundation, but she doesn't help me put it on. She gives me a few brushes and tells me I can do it on my own. "BITCH" This is your job. I am 28 and I have never gotten past the mascara level of makeup knowledge, so I went into this store with a lot of trepidation and not much know how. First of all, the store was well lit, neat, and I was immediately acknowledged upon entry. Not knowing anything about makeup was putting me into a severe state of panic so I was so happy when a lovely woman named Melissa came over and engaged me in conversation. She was professional, easy going, and knew just how to calm me down. She told me she couldn't do a full face consultation because you needed an appointment. I was leaving for my event in two days and didn't have any time to make one. She said she could help with one area of my makeup and I asked her for help with foundation. She went through all the steps to make it really easy for a makeup newbie like me to understand. She got all the products I would need and told me why she picked each product and how it was used. There were maybe 5 customers in the store and a good number of employees (more than 5 from what I could see). After foundation she started to help me with lipstains when her manager came over and said that she would not be able to help me further because there were other customers in the store. So I was left, not knowing which lipstain would match up with my green dress and looking completely bewildered. The manager sent over another woman who was nowhere near as experienced as Melissa who gave me a quick overview of eyeshadows and eyeliner and didn't even help me get a brush for them. I came in with the intention of getting everything I would need to start a serious makeup routine. I left with the three products Melissa got for me, the two brushes she said would work well, an eyeshadow and a kohl pencil. I was offered a lot more, but I was so put off by the manager's terrible customer service that I went to CVS instead and bought similar products at a far cheaper price. Dear Sephora Manager, I spent a solid 250 bucks in your store but I would have spent a lot more than that if you had just let your employee do her job. Melissa was great and I would recommend her to anyone who needs to make the makeup plunge. But I won't be back, I don't reward stores with my business who treat me like my business isn't worth their time. read more

The only reason I give this place five stars, is it is a one stop shop for me. That is all that matters to me...... Make-up, Hair care, skin care and fragrance. And yes.....I am into them all. I don't need any help when I go there. I know what I want. I know what colors look good on me and I know what a certain skin care product will do for me. I just want to go, check out what they have and pick out what I have been lemming. CONS: This place looks like it was plowed over by a bulldozer. ALL the time. i have only been to ONE nice one and that was a mini at the JC Penny in Natick MAll..... I see people directly using the testers (i.e mascara) with NO testers. FRIG-muther-freekin-DISGUSTIN. Oh lord, I will NOT even get into that right now. ...... The sales are less than helpful and knowledgeable. Seriously girls. You want to know about any product in that store. ask me. I will tell you and I will tell you the TRUTH. I have a tiny problem and am completely addicted to researching skincare and makeup....yikes... The only thing the MA's are really good for is to make a sample for you and when you do ask you get MAJOR tude....screw that......Just scoop it up or squeeze it out baby and I can be on my merry way.... The lines are ALWAYS long.....AND now that they have that damn beauty insider card, they take each customer who is signing up for one and type in personal info at the time of their sale, hence holding up the line........ next, another MAJOR tude is given when you do a return.........they figure since they give free samples, that there shant be a need for any returns. WRONG...I used to not even want to deal with the super gossipy sales people who ALL huddled in a corner...I felt like I was bothering *them*...so in the rare occasion my knowledge fails me, hell I am doin a return next don't ever try to go there on a Saturday......it is mayhem.....you just might not survive...if you do manage to get out alive with some cool new make-up, well hey...at least you will look good, right? read more

The employees here instantly racially profiled my friends and I the second we walked in. We were followed, spoken about audibly, and spoken to every 2-5 minutes by a different employee. The employees are immature and do not provide much help. We ended up dropping our full baskets and heading to another store after 20 minutes of harassment. I do NOT recommend this facility. I agree with the negative reviews of Burlington store. But there IS a bright light there- her name is Toni- and she is the only reason I continue to go there. She is SO friendly and SO knowledgeable. Even the manager there gave me a hard time about a return- and he KNOWS me- I go in often!(because of Toni). So to be treated not-so-nicely by a manager was very disheartening. Ok so my experiences are a large mixed bag. I've had the great and the absolutely awful! My good experiences: Back when I was 18(back in 2008) and had no bills I was in Sephora all the time. Ive spent atleast a couple of hundred dollars there in a year. There was one lady who was so helpful, and we would chat a lot. She was the perfect sales person with great service, and no pressure! Too bad she left since she was awesome My bad experiences: Because I spent a lot when I was 18 and I was there a lot because of my breaks from work and my sick addiction to make-up they have accused me of stealing. I don't like being followed and I think most people don't, but when I feel your staring me down, and I have caught you following me Im going to be pissed. There was once incident in particular (Ive been accused like 3 times) where I was with my boyfriend at the time looking at fragrances, and a sales girl actually said in her headset "I can't see what is in his pocket, but Im trying to look" and we saw her say it in the mirror, so he flips out at her to the point I thought she was going to cry, and we left and spent money at MAC. There was another time where 4 of the employees were following me, and I freaked! I was about to show some receipts that I actually spend money, and I filed a complaint on sephora.com. Plus I worked right up the street why would I steal? Overall: I should give this place 2 stars, but I have a soft spot for Urban Decay, and Too Faced. Occasionally I'll go in on my break from work(I work in the mall now), and leave my name tag on to show that I won't steal, and it's been decent. I can't say thank you enough to the consultant "Trecey"...It's not Tracey but it's something similar. She literally gave me such spot on recommendations for my skin and situation. I told her how I was going through fertility treatments to have another baby and the hormones were breaking my skin out. I think she could tell I was going through something too and very self conscious about my skin on top of my personal situation. She recommended origins on the spot treatment and the sephora heavy duty concealer. This combo-in addition to my cocokind products-are a game changer. I feel empowered. That day she applied the stuff to my skin and the concealer and I left Sephora feeling more confident right from the start. She is super great and her company is lucky to have her. If she ever reads this, I hope she knows I'll forever appreciate her help that day. read more

I go in here often and typically know exactly what I want, I'm in and out but once in a while I'll ask for help with a new product and it seems there's 50 employees standing around chatting yet nobody to help. This past weekend I broke up a circle of 3 employees chatting it up ( my bad) to ask for help with an eye shadow, the one who helped seemed less than happy to have to stop her social circle and couldn't answer ONE question I had. I asked for a color that wasn't on the shelf and knowing how they operate I know they always have supplies in the lower drawer, instead of looking she quickly said "no we're out", I said "well maybe you can check the drawer"...I swear I heard her sigh as she bent down to check...she said "nope"...and walked off! Maybe instead of standing around starring at customers and chatting with other employees these ppl should consider cleaning, the place is FILTHY compared to other locations I've been in. When ever I find a new product I want to try I go elsewhere before going here, I dread asking anyone for help. read more

I went in here last week hoping to find some eye makeup. I found the employees anything but helpful. We are not talking just one employee, I spoke with four. While in the store I heard one woman (whom I am guessing was a manager) loudly telling the other staff that the makeup displays looked terrible. She was right, the whole place was a disgusting wreck. It did not help that the employees kept rubbing their fingers in the shadows (you really expect me to try on a shadow once I have watched you rub your grimy fingers in it?) I visited Sephora for the first time, in Nashua NH. The service was great, helpful, but not pushy. I don't wear a lot of makeup and was looking to replace an Aveda product sold to me by my hair salon. It was greasy and made my face break out. I explained that even though at my age, technically, I should have a heavier moisturizer, I preferred a water base that could also control my 40 years of acne. The person that helped me introduced me to "primer" for the foundation and even though it was a bit pricey, I am happier than I have ever been with my makeup. I will certainly go back and would recommend them to anyone that is somewhat "makeup shy." read more

0 Stars if I could. I was returning back to the office after time off. Purchased a new outfit from Lord and Taylor and decided to get some assistance and a new everyday make up look. They were busy. I was willing to wait but tried to get someone to acknowledge me. However, they all avoided eye contact and one salesperson who actually caught my eye looked down and scurried to the back to the store. I'm not that scary lol. I noticed other older customers also being ignored. Not until I was almost out the door did an associate ask me how I was. When I answered that I was leaving because no one would help me she just continued to smile and let me walk buy. I think I have some gift cards at home. I'll have to give tgem to my neices as its clear unless your 30 or under they can't be bothered to help you. read more

Went into Sephora looking for some cream for the shadows under my eyes. Met Maura, and instead of shoving products down my throat, she showed me how to massage the fluid out from under my eyes. Only then did she introduce a product and she demonstrated the technique using the cream. I was really blown away by how knowledgeable she was. Not only that, but two days later I can already see a huge difference in the dark spots under my eyes. Could not be happier with my experience! read more

Tuesday me and my friend were at the Burlington mall and decided to go into Sephora this was our first mistake we walk in wearing sweats and no makeup because we have midterms the next day and immediately get greeted by an employee we smile and say hi and we go to use the self tan TESTER bottle. Another employee comes to us and asks if we need help we politely smile and say no get the hint she takes a lap and comes back and stares us down we move on and look at other stuff and again the same rude ass employee is following us it got so bad she was standing right next to us so close I could hear that bitch breath just watching us look at the makeup we drew the line and soon left and called and complained. Those who gave the salespeople in the Burlington store bad reviews never talked to Stephanie. She's the reason I'm writing this review. And no, I'm in no way affiliated with the store and don't know Stephanie personally. I'm just writing to tell you she knows absolutely everything about skin care. She knows every product in every skin-care line intimately and takes the time with you to figure out exactly what you need, without brand bias. Her manner is upbeat and helpful -- soothing, actually, if you're like me and get overwhelmed by all the choices. And her skin is great, so she's applying her knowledge there. Some of these salespeople have makeup, hair, and/or skin so dreadful that I want to find out what they do so I can do the opposite! I don't know what kind of compensation Sephora offers, but they probably don't pay her enough. The quality of service from her is far beyond what I would expect from some mall makeup joint. So I recommend the Burlington store if you deal with her. If they ever tell you she's working somewhere else, you should head straight to wherever that is. read more

I want to like this place. I'm recently into Bare Minerals and they have a great selection of products. The salespeople, however, will not leave you alone! I like to browse before I buy something. Trust me, if I need help, I'll let you know. I was asked not once, not twice, but five separate times within a ten minute span if I needed help. One saleswoman saw another woman ask me, walk away, then asked me herself. I mean really, I understand commission based sales, but this is ridiculous. I just popped into Sephora during the last 15 minutes of my lunch break yesterday. A super super helpful sales associate (Emma?) walked me through the fragrance aisle, since we all don't have enough time in our lives to sample everything in the store. I was in a fragrance slump and couldn't wait to find the one. She asked me some detailed questions and led me to a handful to choose from. It was amazing. I am going to start by saying that I do not wear make-up often (read: I wear lip gloss once a week, and mascara once a year). But I went into Sephora looking for something last month, and I let them direct me. I bought something at the girl's recommendation, and turned out to love it. While waiting in line, I found small body wash, lotion, and lip balm things that I wanted. In the end, maybe Sephora is a good place for me to shop...! I signed up for the Beauty Insider card at the register, to track points on my spending and get freebies at certain times. Upgrade to 5 stars. Just rechecked back in here today for a few items. The individualized attention offered in this store is rarely found anywhere these days. I described exactly what I was looking for in a foundation to my salesperson (combination skin, light coverage, skin tone that is not extremely pink or gold) and she came back with the perfect product. I think what makes this store a superior cosmetic experience is that every person working there is fully trained in dozens of beauty lines, whereas in other stores the salespeople only represent one line. No comparison of products. I always come away from the shopping experience with the feeling I walked out with the product(s) that are best for me. read more

I don't normally leave reviews, I typically just read them. Well today I went in here and after I left I tried not to cry. I was with two girls I babysit (they have special needs but are high functioning but super active and easily excited). They have never been to Sephora before. Well today we were greeted by Sarah, I asked her to shade match me to the new pat McGRATH foundation, she did so perfectly. She was super sweet towards the kids, offered to help right away, even made sure we didn't leave our waters there (I've been to other places that as soon as they see us set something down they throw it away) because we were trying products and needed to set them down. She went out of her way to make us feel welcomed. I did end up calling the store and talking to her manager about how awesome she was to us and asked her to be promoted, we were that in love with her. Most times people will try to rush us out of the store for fear of the kids breaking or destroying something. She didn't even bat an eyelash when the kids kept saying "look, look, look". I'm beyond happy to give my business and money to this place with employees like her. She's a great one Sephora! read more

If you are looking for customer service, don't shop at this store. As other yelpers have mentioned, there are a ton of sales people roaming the floor with no apparent purpose because they don't approach customers and offer assistance. The only way I finally got any service is when I asked for assistance with the product I was considering. This is an example of a brick and mortar store that needs to go out of business because you certainly don't get more help than you would by purchasing online.
