Donna was amazing, patient, empathetic, and very involved in my grandson's feelings and emotions. she let him feel the clippers and the razor before she did anything, and she talk to him very calmly and smoothly. Donna was just amazing, I would recommend her to anyone with a young child there's not had a haircut before. Not only did she cut my grandsons here. She also did my hair as well and I was very impressed because she was very cautious and listen to my concerns about how to treat my hair and made the best recommendations and my hair came out amazing

I admit these were some big shoes to fill especially since I have my hair cut every 4 weeks, my hair is rather defiant, but I want it to always look nice. I was very impressed with the coziness of the New Beginnings salon, the ability to obtain an appointment that was timely and convenient, the warm feeling of friendship and esteem between the staff, the respect and concern they showed the customers, the quality of my haircut by Jessica and the very reasonable price. They even provide a discount for seniors, military and college students. Jessica took the time to listen to the concerns I have about my hair, the look I was trying to achieve and she genuinely wanted to make sure I left happy - which I certainly did! She used some new products, explaining their use but left it at that. I have finally found a new salon where I can walk in and know I will be comfortable with my stylist, leave delighted with my haircut as well as being content with the amount I spend. Effective, efficient, caring, and courteous are just some of the words to describe New Beginnings and their team! Thank you!!

Alyssa is amazing. She helped me transition from dyed brown hair to my natural silver/white color…read morein just two visits. I couldn't be happier with the color, the condition of my hair, and the ease of the transition. For years I've been researching the process and seeking a stylist who would help me take the plunge. Other local stylists and color specialists on Newbury St told me I'd look old, I'd ruin my hair, and that I should stick to caramel highlights. Alyssa is the best colorist I've encountered, she knew exactly what to do without hesitation, and is an absolute sweetheart too! The reception at the salon is always welcoming and friendly and it's just an all around great experience to have my hair colored and styled here.

Their attention to detail, dedication to staying educated on modern styling, and noteworthy customer service are what keeps coming back again and again. With their guidance I have been able to try new colors and cuts that I never would have been brave enough to try before--all while keeping my hair in healthy condition. All of the stylists there are great, but I have mostly made appointments with Kara & Jess at the Danvers location. They are both sweethearts and talented stylists!! Just today Kara did a keratin treatment on my thick, frizzy hair and I am SO happy with the results.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with this salon was incredibly frustrating from…read morestart to finish. Over the course of two days, I received multiple phone calls from different stylists going back and forth about whether they could work on my daughter's hair because she had used Sun-In months ago. One call would tell me they could do the service, another would say they couldn't, and then someone else would suggest a different option. There seemed to be no communication or agreement among the staff. After all the confusion, we finally agreed on a darker color that everyone was comfortable with. Then, 5 mins before the appointment--and right before my daughter was starting at a brand-new school--they cancelled without providing a reason. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first issue I've had with this salon. On previous visits, I was quoted one price when booking or during consultation, only to be charged significantly more when I got to the front desk to pay. Repeatedly being surprised with higher-than-expected bills is unacceptable and makes it difficult to trust the pricing they provide. The lack of professionalism, poor communication, last-minute cancellation, and inconsistent pricing make it impossible for me to recommend this salon. They charge premium prices, but the customer service and organization fall far below what I would expect from a high-end salon. There are plenty of salons that value their customers' time, communicate honestly, and stand behind their pricing--this is not one of them.

And always very gracious. I never felt awkward going in. I always felt very comfortable.. The last time I went there. I was gushing about how much I liked it there. And I said I hope you guys never go away... They must have known they were closing, but they never said anything. I left there with my latest stylist's card... I had a weird feeling that they were talking or laughing about me behind my back. Because I swear about a week later the whole place was closed permanently. I have no idea what could have happened. But possibly when covid hit, the salon took a financial hit. I actually don't even like going for haircuts, but this place was special...

I told her I wanted about one and a half inches off, and she listened and gave me just what I asked for. I made the trip here from Wakefield from the city (I live just outside of Boston) and I would easily come back here despite living so close to all of the Newbury Street salons. Andrea was specifically recommended to me by a friend who has been her client for years, and I am happy I listened to her. The salon itself is super chic and very clean, and the Kevin Murphy products Andrea used in my hair smelled amazing and made my hair so smooth and soft. I will gladly return for another trim in the future.
