I was staying in a nearby hotel and drove by almost every day for a week and decided it was time to try it on my last night in Lancaster. When I got there at about 5:45pm there were just a few tables occupied and it was easy to immediately place an order (you can order at the counter, or on a kiosk). I placed an order for japchae noodles and then a 5pc of drumsticks. It ended up being way more food than I bargained for and so I took most of the japchae to-go. The wings were made-to-order and had the characteristic double fry and then were bathed in a yum yum sauce. It was very good and not overly spicy. The japchae was fine but didn't have quite the same star power that the fried chicken had. The noodles were soft and portion was large though which was good. By the time I left about 30 minutes later, the restaurant was packed and there was a line to order that was nearly out the door. I can understand why this is a popular place!

Glad we did because the food was exactly what I'd envisioned with very little to no deviation. Walking in, we ordered from the kiosk machine the following: 15 piece mixed chicken soy sauce flavor, one order of fried pork potstickers which came in 8 pieces, 1 order of takoyaki which is fried octopus dumplings, 1 bulogi fried rice, an order of kimchi and house cucumbers, and sesame ginger salad with tofu as protein. The order was fulfilled in about 10 mins and it traveled well considering our drive back was about 10 ish minutes. If you are traveling far, I would maybe think twice about the fried chicken as it may get a tad soggy once you finally open the box. For us, everything tasted wonderful especially the fried chicken and bulogi fried rice. One thing I was not expecting was that kimchi definitely has a kick that I am not used to. Still ate it all but just beware. All in all, amazing service with the staffs up front and I would recommend.

The doubles? Exceptional. Soft, perfectly filled, and full of flavor. And the hot pepper sauce? Whew. It didn't just add heat, it elevated an already outstanding dish to another level. I ordered so many doubles I barely had room for anything else but I had to try the dhal and it was exactly what I needed. Comforting, rich, and done right. Everything tasted like true, authentic Trini food, the kind that makes you feel warm, satisfied, and already thinking about your next visit. I was literally craving it every single day for the rest of my Lancaster trip. The space itself is on the smaller side, but really cute and inviting. The service was great: friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience complete. Whether you're new to Trini food or already know what's up, Calaloo will not disappoint. Trust me, you'll be planning your next visit before you even leave.

I always order the coconut jerk chicken and am delighted be the Trinidadian/Asian fusion mix their menu provides. Specials rotate, which is so much fun. The staff are always friendly, helpful, and even my gluten-free mother can eat here. The food is consistently good and the spice levels are high, so take them seriously! Especially the pepper beef. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through!

Stopped in over a convention weekend wanting to support local business and avoid delivery services…read more We typically avoid Chinese/Japanese places during cons as they tend to get packed and take forever to get food just on the sheer volume of attendees all wanting Asian Cuisine. I couldn't fight the sushi craving though so we relented and stopped in on the recommendation of a friend who's a regular here on con weekend. I had a basic combo of California roll, Salmon roll, and tuna roll with salad and husband had a Philly Roll and Eel Roll. Another home run! Sushi was fresh and delicious. Prepared in a good amount of time. We called an order in and in less than 30 min we had our food. Impressive again since this is a pretty popular stop during the weekend.

The single hostess actually seemed surprised to see anyone coming in. The restaurant wasn't dirty per se, but it was cluttered and dimly lit. A motor scooter was leaning up against a wall right inside the doorway. We were greeted with room temperature tap water served in small Styrofoam cups as an opener, very 'low rent', and as it turns out, a grim harbinger of things to come. Perhaps it was morbid curiosity that kept us in her chairs, but we ordered several items off the menu, including sushi, edamame, green seaweed salad, a soup, noodles, fried rice, and salt and a shrimp dish. All of this was served in to-go containers or on paper plates. I got what seemed to be the only drinking glass in the establishment when I asked for a soda with ice. We were given plastic utensils to eat with. The plastic utensils we were given turned out to be a non-issue. With the exception of the edamame, the food was so terrible that none of us endeavored to use those utensils much beyond the first few bites. The soup tasted old and burned, the sushi tasteless, the shrimp suspiciously soft. The noodles were covered with a watery, peanut-butter like substance but without the taste. The white rice placed on the table was clearly old. The fried rice was bland and tasteless. No one in my family could finish their meals. Update: My credit card statement from Sakura lists "88 Chinese Express" - the Chinese restaurant next door.... Is it possible that our orders placed in Sakura, a Japanese restaurant, were farmed out to a Chinese Take-out joint?! Wow!
