Expensive spot but we were hungry and this spot was nearby and open. There quite a number of people in here, some Japanese folks too so it must be good and authentic. Seemed like a hip spot to eat.
Yummy yum good clean kind what more can I say. Yum wraps it up in a nut. Seats are clean which is a must. Food is fresh. Atmosphere is good. Music choice is great. Upbeat. Come check it out if u wanna know more.
I wouldn't say this is the best sushi spot in the Bay Area, but it's definitely one of the places I come back to the most. It's close by, the menu has a ton of variety, and everything is consistently pretty tasty. I especially love coming for the lunch specials, which they offer on weekends too. My boyfriend and I have our go to picks: the three item bento and the three roll combo. For the bento, we mix it up, but our usuals include chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, tempura, and salmon sashimi. Tonkatsu is solid as well. Chicken katsu is fine, but it tends to be a little dry for me. For the rolls, my favorites are the unagi roll, spicy salmon, and salmon and avocado. I'm a big salmon person, so their salmon always hits the spot. Service is usually friendly and quick. The ambiance is nothing fancy, but there's plenty of seating and it's comfortable enough for a casual meal.
Decided to come here for dinner in the area. It was my second time coming here so definitely knew what to expect. Was pleased to see that they were still serving happy hour menu. California Roll (3.5/5) - the roll was pretty considering it was $6 and we expected it to be smaller during happy hour. The ratio of crab to rice was perfect. The sesame seed on the side was a bit on the saltier side. The avocado wasn't as fresh, so it left a bit of a funky taste. Miso soup (3/5) - The miso soup wasn't salty which was pretty nice! However, they didn't give enough paste so half of my soup tasted very watery and not as thick. Side Salad (4.4/5) - The dressing was pretty delicious that had a hint of wasabi to it. For my personal preference, I would have preferred less dressing as the first few bites were all dressing. Maybe I could have mixed it better. Salmon Teriyaki (4.7/5) - The salmon itself was very delicious. The skin was very crispy and the meat itself wasn't dry. The teriyaki sauce was on the salty side which fitted with my taste buds perfectly. The texture was thick, more like a syrup than a sauce. Chicken Teriyaki (4/5) - Although the sauce is the same, the chicken wasn't as good compared to the salmon. It could have used more of a crunchy or char texture. It was soft, but I would have liked to be more like the salmon. Everyone was very nice and checked on us often. I will return to try new things!
A Heartfelt Surprise at Senro Sushi I'm not really a sushi--or even a seafood--person, but Senro Sushi has still become one of our favorite spots. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try the asparagus rolls. They looked amazing, but I quickly learned that asparagus and soy sauce aren't exactly my dream combo. The real highlight, though, was when my husband's sushi came out with a little heart-shaped green onion on top. Totally unplanned, but such a sweet touch that made us smile. I usually stick to the beef or chicken udon here--it's hands down the best I've had anywhere. The staff is always super friendly, and even when it's busy, we never have to wait long. Definitely a solid 4-star spot in my book!

Sushi happy hour sign me up! A quick bite to eat for dinner and some drinks will always call my name. Not too long of a wait depends on party size, 15 min or so. We ordered spicy tuna roll, California, tempura and a margarita to wash it down. Busy but not over crowded. Inly thing that was lacking is we had to keep getting up to get a waiter attention, often forgot about. The food was yummy though

I live in the area and always drove by Senro, but never stopped by because the plaza just has so many other great food options. Finally stopped by after the gym and I was actually surprised by their portion sizes! Sushi was fresh and I was thoroughly impressed. I've added this place to my local sushi spots when I do have my cravings.
Everyone was very nice and hospitable. Service was decent (they could have cleared our table a little more quickly as we were polishing off dish after dish). And there were so many interesting items on their beautifully designed and photographed menu that you don't normally see on a sushi menu. Lamb chops was one. They were a delicious finish to our meal! Pricing during Happy Hour has put Senro up to the top of our "must-go-again" list. There are plenty of food items on the HH menu, too, including the chops! We will definitely be back!
We did happy hour here, and it wasn't that bad. I really enjoyed the karaage and the fried octopus. The rolls were pretty good, but didn't give the wow factor. I did enjoy the happy hour and their extensive menu. It was a bit overwhelming with so many choices. Their internet or data area is terrible so I couldn't use my phone (but I guess that's a good thing). Staff is attentive. Food is filling and price is do-able. It's in a shopping plaza so it can get packed.
Food was okay, we shared between 6 people and the portion was pretty good for the price. They got to us pretty fast, but there was hair in TWO of our rolls. Our server was able to replace it for us which was very nice.
Senro Sushi has been my go-to sushi restaurant since I moved to South San Jose. There are plenty of AYCE options around, but when I want really good sushi, I keep coming back here. The quality shows in everything they serve. Even the miso soup stands out. It is rich, complex and flavorful enough that Senro's has become the miso soup I compare all others to. That probably says something when the soup is memorable! The Hamachi Carpaccio is another favorite and one I especially recommend to someone who wants to venture beyond rolls and start enjoying truly raw cuts of fish. The fish is fresh and delicate, and the jalapeño gives it just the right amount of heat without overpowering it. And then there is the Shelby Roll--my all-time favorite roll. I have tried plenty of sushi over the years, and this is still the one I come back to. The menu has enough depth to keep exploring, the staff is consistently friendly, and the quality has kept me returning over and over again. Senro isn't about seeing how much sushi you can eat. It's where I go when I want sushi I know I'm going to enjoy. A South San Jose favorite for me, hands down. read more

Third time coming here and it's amazing everytime! Lots of indoor seating and greatly lit. I believe this is one of the better priced sushi restaurants in the bay with higher quality salmon. I have gotten seated immediately each time I have came here but it's during lunch so not sure about dinner! Amazing service as server took our order super quick & food also came out in like 10 minutes! For food we ordered the Sake Don which came with rice, salad & miso soup which is greatly priced. This tasted amazing as the salmon was super fresh and one of the better salmons I have tried! The Spring Salmon Belly was also high quality but EXTREMELY fatty with an amazing roast but if you love that then go for it! I rate the Sake Don a 9.5/10 and the Salmon Belly a 8.5/10. I would 100% come back here for a 4th time and no regrets. read more
Tried this sushi spot and overall had a great experience. The rolls and fried rice were super fresh and really delicious definitely the highlight of the meal. We always order the Lion King roll at every sushi place (it's kind of our tradition), and this one didn't quite meet our expectations. It looked more like a regular roll and was served cold, which was a bit disappointing since we usually expect it warm and more flavorful. read more

We have been coming to Senro for about 4 years now since we moved to the area. We needed a new go to sushi spot after our favorite spot closed. The staff here are fantastic!! They are so welcoming and remember us and our family members. When our child was born they always made time to interact with him and he loves seeing them when we go. We tend to go a few times a month, whether it's dine in or takeout. The fish is always fresh and the portions are always generous. We love everything we get here. It tends to get busy on Friday and Saturday nights, but it makes us happy seeing one of our favorite local spots having customers! read more
Came here after a doctor's appointment and ordered the chicken yaki udon, uni nigiri, and 4 piece salmon sashimi. Service was quick and the interior is clean/well maintained. Great location for a large group of people/spacious interior, which I've found some sushi places are unable to accommodate. The chicken in the yaki udon was very bland and unseasoned even when swimming in the yaki udon sauce, which was a tad salty from all the soy sauce. It was still savory/had sweet undertones (maybe they used mirin in it?), but I was just turned off by how the chicken had little flavor and a very tough texture. The portion was very large though, I ended up taking some to go. The uni nigiri was delicious, and the salmon sashimi was thick and fresh. I would definitely come back and order more of their raw fish/sushi items, as opposed to their cooked dishes. Senro is a tad pricy so I'm not too sure if I would come back personally, but my experience was good overall. read more

Came in on a Friday afternoon and was seated right away. Service was good--very attentive and quick. The chicken teriyaki (4/5) was good. It tastes exactly how you'd expect lol. You don't get that much chicken compared to other places though. The miso and salad tasted great as well. The dragon roll (3/5) was all right. The unagi sauce isn't that sweet compared to others I've had. It wasn't bad but it wasn't that good. A bit pricier than other places but still had a good time. read more

The wait at Cha Cha Sushi was over an hour long so we decided to give Senro Sushi a try, and overall, it was pretty good. There was no wait on a Thursday evening, and we were quickly greeted and seated. The restaurant itself is quite spacious and has a relaxing atmosphere. Some standout dishes: Baked Salmon Fried Rice (5/5): Absolutely delicious! The house teriyaki sauce had a great balance of sweet and savory, and the fried rice wasn't drowned in sauce; it had a subtle smokiness. My only complaint is the relatively small portion and its pretty hefty price tag ($20). Spiderman Roll (5/5): My personal favorite! The fried soft-shell crab in this roll complemented the filling exceptionally well. Surprisingly, it was light and full of flavor. Titanic Roll (4.5/5): I loved this roll, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the spicy crab meat. I would have preferred regular crab salad on top, which would have made it a perfect 5/5 for me. Mango Crunch (2.5/5): I decided to experiment with this roll, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the flavor profile overall. Personally, I didn't feel like the combination of macadamia nuts and mango meshed well (the mangos were sour). The price for each item was pretty expensive compared to other sushi spots; everything was $17 or more! The portions of the ginger and wasabi were generous, but you could easily tell they used imitation wasabi because of its artificial coloring, and the flavor was pretty dull with no kick. The ginger was excessively sweet and was not a good palate cleanser. read more

Usually like to come here for a quick bite to eat when I'm in the area. The portions are pretty good for price and I like how clean it is inside! We came here around 6/7pm on a Sunday and it was not super busy. Before I would come here for the chicken karaage since it's so good! This time around I was craving sushi and so my sister and I ordered the Hot Night and the Carnival. Hot night - really good but didn't like how the tempura crumbs were like super fine crumbs instead of thicker pieces Carnival - the crab was just not good, tasted like it was old and went bad. Super like crumbly? Hamachi Carpaccio - fish was pretty good but the sauce was a little to thick Katsu Donburi - this was huge and so it definitely is worth the price! Pretty sure they put like five scoops of rice in there Service was pretty good and it was nice inside. Decent place for sushi! read more

I used to live close by to this sushi restaurant, however I never got to trying it out. I'm so glad that I did the other night! My all time favorite sushi joint is Cha Cha Sushi but this might be one of my top favorites now. Upon walking in, we were greeted and seated straight away. The ambiance is wonderful. I really like how spacious the restaurant is and how it isn't too bright nor dark inside. We ordered: ORANGE BLOSSOM: 5/5 This is usually one of the rolls I try whenever I'm out for sushi. So far, I've enjoyed Cha Cha's the most but I think I like the one here more! I absolutely love salmon and this roll is perfect for me. I enjoyed it very much. TEKKA MAKI: 4.8/5 Another roll I get so often is Tekka Maki. The rice to fish ratio is perfect. I don't get a thick layer of rice and I'm able to taste the freshness of the tuna. It was amazing and light; just what I wanted in that roll. Some cuts of fish were smaller but it's not a huge problem. CARNIVAL ROLL: 3.6/5 My cousin ordered this roll but I had a bite and it was pretty good! It's a cooked roll so if you don't prefer raw fish, this one is pretty yummy. CALIFORNIA ROLL: I didn't try this roll as my cousin ordered it! LION KING ROLL: 3.5/5 One of the first sushi rolls I've tried when I first started eating sushi. The only cooked roll that I still keep finding my way back to because it's so comforting. However, the salmon here was a bit dry. There also wasn't much sauce on top and we weren't given wasabi or ginger with it (which we are at other places). I prefer this roll from Cha Cha. :) SANTA BARBARA UNI NIGIRI: I did not try this as I'm not a huge fan of sea urchin. ^__^ Overall, I absolutely enjoyed my time here and I'll definitely be back for the Orange Blossom roll! I can't wait to try the other ones as well :D read more

Came for a late lunch on a Saturday. Was seated immediately. Service was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed the lunch special Bento boxes. $21 for 3 items. Sushi and sashimi (salmon or tuna) were options . The tuna sashimi was nice and fatty. Melt your mouth. We also tried beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu, Saba shioyaki (grilled mackerel) and tempura. My son also tried a dragon roll. Restaurant was spacious and clean and you can see the sushi bar. Even on a late Saturday afternoon lunch, the restaurant was full of patrons when we left. We were definitely satisfied. read more

Came here for dinner with two friends. We were originally going to get wings, but one of my friends claimed how much she loved this place so I was like "sure." I wasn't starving, so sushi sounded good. Turns out she always get bentos, no sushi.... I never realized it until then. She doesn't actually eat sushi. She loves this place for their bento deals. I don't go to sushi restaurants and get a bento- I would just go to a Hawaiian bbq place if that's the case. I ordered miso soup, a Titanic roll, and a coconut mint mojito. The miso soup is as expected, nothing "wow" about it. Very standard miso, but I love soup so no complaints. Titanic roll was okay. Nothing really stood out flavor wise. The crab meat was "meh" which was a little disappointing because I love crab. I also love tempura shrimp, tail and all, but this wasn't crispy. That tells me it's been sitting there for quite a bit. Best part of the meal was the drink. I'm normally not a mint mojito person, but I love all things coconut and the drink was surprisingly good. The coconut flavor was on the lighter side, but it gave a nice balance for what it was suppose to be- coconut flavored mint mojito. read more
Been here a few times and consistently it's been great. The service has been the same and attentive. The atmosphere has always been the same. Sometimes loud during games sometimes just the usual. The food. It's been up to my expectations. Sometimes exceeding it. My girlfriend's favorite is the hamachi carpaccio. It's been great the multiple times we've been there. Been very happy with the food and everything has been great from rolls to nigiri to donburi. Will keep coming back since it's a great go to spot for pretty good Japanese food. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Senro yet! Since moving to South San Jose this quickly became my close to the house go-to sushi place. My favorite item to order at all sushi places is The Lion King roll, it is the first thing I look for when I scan a menu and this place does not disappoint! There are places that don't have it on their menu and I automatically can't trust them when I don't see it. Ha! Besides the Lion King roll, they have a wonderfully delicious unique role called the Walnut Prawn roll. Since honey walnut prawns are one of my favorite dishes in Chinese restaurants this was a great find and it is so good! I was pretty stoked to see a roll made out of that dish. I also highly recommend the Crunchy Roll. They must put crunchy crack on top, it's so good. Other favorite items I love: Salmon Donburi, Salmon Teriyaki , Beef Yaki Soba Stir Fried Noodles, and the amazing Fried Rice Baked Salmon with House Special Sauce. It's pretty epic and you should definitely check it out If you like salmon like I do. (You couldn't tell at all, right?) They also package their to-go food well and I love that they cut a little hole in the corner of the container for tempura so it stays crunchy and doesn't get soggy from the condensation. Next time I need to try the Kobe Beef Roll, it's calling my name! I also want to check out their unique desserts, like Sushi Ice Cream & Tempura Ice Cream! Be sure to check them out! read more
