Seng couture had the best customer service I've experienced! The owner greeted me as soon as I walked through the door and asked what styles I was interested in. He offered me many options, spoke about their alterations and bustle being included, and introduced me to Mabel, my bridal consultant. She listened to everything I wanted in a dress and pulled aside about 10 dresses for me to try on. They have a huge selection of all different styles, and they also let you look through and pick out dresses to try on too! Each dress is inside a garment bag, and a picture of a model wearing the dress is attached to the bag as well, with price tag included, so it was really easy to see the styles before trying on! They were very upfront with their prices and encouraged me to stay within my budget. Mabel made me feel really comfortable, and the whole experience was soo much fun! I finally said yes to the dress and CANNOT wait until the big day on June 15, 2018!! I highly recommend Seng Couture for any bride (or anyone looking for formal gowns)! read more

Let me start by explaining that I am torn on whether to post this review. I wrote up my experience as soon as I got home. Just before I was about to post, I received an apology email from the shop acknowledging the unfortunate experience. While I truly appreciate the follow-up, the lack of customer service in-shop needs to be addressed. I seriously hope that no other bride has this experience. My bridal consultation at Seng Couture started off on a bad foot. To begin, I was rudely greeted by the staff at the front desk, as if I was walked into a private residence unannounced. From there, I was instructed to select dresses. On a positive note, the dresses were neatly organized and featured a picture to get a sense of what the dress actually looked like. My best friend was able to help me in this process. The consultation went seriously south as I began to try on the selected dresses. When my friend took out her phone to take a picture, she was rudely informed that photos were not allowed. As she was in the process of putting her phone down, my bridal consultant demanded that she "put the phone away". It was very evident that my consultant did not want to be there. Her aura, attitude, and handling of the dresses made me EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I tried to let it go, but after the fourth or fifth dress - I broke into tears and had to walk out. read more

This bridal shop is amazing! I would absolutely recommend to any future brides. I will be taking all of my friends here to pick out their dresses when they get married! The store itself is clean, organized and has a large selection, but it is not overwhelming at all. The best part of Seng Couture (that makes me SO HAPPY with my decision to shop here) is the staff! They are absolutely incredible people! Carla and Mrs. S made sure that my experience was perfect! Amazingly friendly staff!! Def make an appointment so you have plenty of time and they know what to expect. They have lots of great designers and samples of even the most recent lines! I called to get a color swatch comparison for bridesmaid dresses and they were happy to do so and give me their honest opinions. Illian was so helpful in measuring and making sure we understood the process. She kept us up to date on when our dresses are expected to come in and where to go from there. Steer clear of this store. They only carry one size of each dress so you have to order the size you need. If the dress does not fit they will refuse to return it, so you are stuck. Furthermore if the dress is not available in the size that you need, they will order in another size and then charge a fortune for the alterations. I found them to be very high pressured in their sales, expensive and did not believe much of what they told me as everything they said was clearly self-serving. Try Castle Couture as a better alternative. I wish we had known about Castle from the beginning. read more

Exceptional experience. I visited all of the well known bridal salons and tried on more than 30 dresses. I visited Seng Couture and was gladly surprised when they didn't limit the amount of dresses I could try on (this was a huge dissatisfier for me at places like RK Bridal, Castle Couture and Kleinfeld). After 3 hours of trying on dresses, one of the owners brought me THE dress. From that point on, the fittings, calls and accommodations far exceeded my expectations. They do not charge brides for alterations which helped a great deal! I would recommend this bridal salon to friends and family. I booked a wedding dress consultation for my best friend at this shop based off previous Yelp reviews, however I didn't have any expectations. From the beginning the experience was A-1. Cathy helped us and had such a vibrant personality that it helped to get everyone excited for what was to come. Cathy explained the process and let us go to work picking from tons of dresses. My best friend is very hard to please but after trying about 10 dresses on she found the one!!! Cathy assisted her with taking the dresses on and off and gave her honest opinion when certain dresses didn't look good on her. The other employees were just as excited as we were when my best friend rang that bell finding the dress she would be getting married in! Seng Couture has great prices and a really great selection of dresses. I went during a Pronovias trunk sale and selected the Adela style dress. They did a great job with the free alterations, bustle, and steaming. I did not even need a second fitting. I also got a really unique second veil there as well. They stuck to my price range and when they brought me dresses that didn't appear to fit my requests, they quickly explained how they could customize it to fit my wishes. After finding my dream dress at Seng Couture. I went in to see it when it came in. The dress was beautiful but I wanted some changes. They quoted me an amount which I thought was reasonable for what I wanted but they explained to me that changes can not be done until a deposit is made. Which I did not do. I wanted to consult with my mother first before I put a bigger burden on her. I went back in 9 months since my last visit because I had a family member order my same dress and her wedding is before mine. My wedding isn't till 6/01/2019. I called and explained this to Seng Couture they told me to come in there should be no problem and they will work with me. I go in and as I'm about to get into the dress I notice changes were made I ask Ms. Seng why were changes made without me making a deposit. She told me don't worry the dress is beautiful. The dress was beautiful and the work they did was beautiful but I did not pay for it and did not want the changes made because once again my mother could not afford it. After trying on the dress I could not get over the fact my cousin had the same dress. I wanted a new dress. My mom went to go speak to Ms. Seng and the manager Kathy came in whom by the way is the most beautiful person. She brought me tissues and tried to calm me down. Ms. Seng came back with a similar dress. I tried it on and absolutely fell in love with the dress. So I asked her okay so what can be done she told me I have to pay the remaining balance on my dress, plus the alterations that were made, and put a 60% deposit on the next dress. I refused to do so since they made alterations without my consent. The manager Kathy went back and spoke to them they told me if I paid the balance of the first dress they would waive the alterations charges. After speaking with my mom she said no she wasn't going to give her business to a place that would do this to a bride. They were trying to use my vulnerability to make me pay more money since they know I'm in a jam. When we go up front to pay the balance she then proceeds to tell me since we are not purchasing a second dress I am responsible for the alterations they made without my permission and the balanace of the dress. After a few back and forth and the poor manager Kathy being in the middle because the owner Ms. Seng would not even face me or my mother they finally agreed to let us pay for the balance and not the alterations we took the dress and now I need to find a place that would buy it off of me. Please be careful with them they will try and get you for signing your name on a piece of paper that doesn't have any store policies. The policies are whatever they feel they are at that moment to get more money out of you! Do not sign anything without getting clarification first and getting it in writing. Good luck! read more

I had a positive experience here even though I didn't end up purchasing my wedding dress here. The appointment process online was easy. I had Sierra help me try on about 10-15 dresses. She was able to read my vision and picked out exactly what I described. She seemed very knowledgeable, gave great suggestion, and gave me a great experiences although very tiring. I have to update my review because when I first bought my gown it was actually a good experience. However, when I bought my veil it was not as good of an experience. I fell in love with a long veil but found out that it was quite pricey and one of the justifications I got for the price tag was because it had swarovski crystals. My mom was more than kind and bought it for me. However, when I got my veil I asked for proof that it was actually swarovski crystal. I truly could care less if it was actually swarovski or not but since that was their justification for its price, I wanted proof. Literally I just needed a tag but Seng Couture could not turn one up. They said they would send me it but never did. One of the employees had that audacity to give me a look and say that it actually wasn't an expensive veil, (like I was causing a problem when in actuality I just wanted a tag). Her reaction was uncalled for, especially since what may not be expensive to her may be for other people. Very rude. I almost didn't go here because of the reviews, but I'm so glad I did! I first seen Seng Couture at a bridal expo and loved their dresses. Once I looked them up their reviews were mixed. Being 50 minutes away, my mom had to really convince me to go here and try it out. When we arrived the owner explained the process. Walk around the store, pick out dresses you like and put them aside to try on. If you don't like any that you try on, the bridal assistant will then go and find you some. I loved this idea. I also loved that each dress had a photo with it on the model so you could really get an idea of what it looked like on. There were multiple dresses on mannequins that I loved. They had no problems taking them off for me, despite it being a hassle! The appointment went well. I found a dress I loved (a mannequin dress) and have been back a second time to see it again. Once I finally decide to purchase (I'm still 1 year out on my wedding and don't want to rush), I'll return to Seng. Also - you can take photos in the dresses as long as the dress is not from a current trunk show. I was able to take multiple photos except for one dress that came from the trunk show as it was loaned to the store by the designer. The only con is that a couple times I put a dress aside (on my designated rack) other women took the dress when I was walking around looking for more. I wasn't sure who took it so I wasn't able to get it back from their rooms. The employees also didn't see so I lost the opportunity to try dresses I pulled. Really rude!! read more

My appointment with Seng Couture as with Salesgirl Patty on March 29th. I put the crazy deposit of 60% down on a dress I was initially told "They had in stock in my size...This was AFTER Patty went to check to make sure it did NOT have to be special ordered. She told me that IF it had to be special ordered, I would have to pick a different gown because she couldn't guarantee that it would be in in time for my sons wedding the first week of July. She came back to me after checking her computer ALL SMILES AND CLAPPING!!!! "WE have it!! We have your size in stock!!" she exclaimed!!!! Long story short, that following weekend unfortunately wedding plans were cancelled. I returned to the store to get my refund back ($450.00) and was told by Vincent in harsh words that "We no give money back!!!". He said he would have to call company to see if it was shipped. I explained that this was not a special order and was already in his stock. Hecame back to me and said refunds are only given if company says so and company said it was already shipped! He pointed to a tiny circle on my receipt that I had not noticed that said "special order". Ibelieve that Patty circled that to preserve her commission! I went to the Union County court House to file my lawsuit and was told that I could not add Patty to the suit to be summoned without her last name. In front of the clerk at the Court, I called Seng to find out Patty's last name and was told they didnt know it, she was let go LAST WEEK! This was only THREE business days from when I was at Seng! My court date is May 1, 2018. I will tell everyone to stay away from this business. They are shady and dishonest! read more

I had a great experience shopping for my wedding dress at Seng Couture. I had been to about 6 other salons and was not finding exactly what I wanted. I did some research online and it seemed that Seng Couture carried almost all the designers I was interested in and multiple styles. when I came into the store it was very organized and the staff immediately started helping me find the style numbers I had written down. My mom and sisters and I were also allowed to look through the racks. I worked with Seng and she helped me narrow down between dresses. She did not pressure me at all and I felt very comfortable! what a phenomenal exprerience! This was the first salon we visited for my daughter's wedding gown. Let me tell you, Carla was the absolute best!!! She was patient, helpfful, full of wonderful advise and you would of thought that my daughter was a member of her family!!!! It was the best decision because not only did I find the most perfect dress for my petite frame, but the owner, Seng, is a seamstress and was able to make all my requested adjustments possible. Let me start off by saying I was late to my appointment and when I entered 30 minutes late and apologized to my consultant Carla- she smiled and said no worries-Lets find your dress. Simple politeness!! I exhaled and got into 'MY" moment.. I started off looking for a certain style(A-line) that did NOT compliment me and at!! Carla asked If she could suggest a different style. I got married about a month ago in NJ and finding a wedding dress was extremely impossible for me...I'm particular, I have curves, a chest and I'm tall so basically no store had a size I could actually fit in. I found my dress at another store in another state but called Seng and they said they have it and could order for me - free alterations. So. I ordered my dress through Seng. Ali (who is no longer there) measured me perfectly! I was so happy, the dress looked amazing and now I was ready for minimal alterations. They say free alterations but that doesn't mean anything - READ THE SMALL PRINT. After the seamstress came out to take a look, she said I needed support for my chest for my strapless dress and she was going to take it in around the butt area to make it tighter - I thought great and perfect. They said come back for one last appointment 2 weeks before your wedding. So I did and the results were MORTIFYING!!!! I had the dress on, the chest alterations were TERRIBLE, they took it so freaking much around the butt area where I couldn't sit without breathing but most of all the upper part of my dress was awful, just awful. They made the boob area so pointy (I had like Madonna shaped cone boobs), with so much extra space where you could legit see my nipple just standing next to me, they gave me cleavage (which I was very amendment about NOT having) and you could see the stays they put in everywhere. They were pointing out the dress, they were poking at my body on the inside. The little lady who was helping said the seamstress would fix it, to wait on on an uncomfy in a robe until she was finished....4 HOURS later and the dress was still not fixable, the boob area was now dirty/stained/discolored because the seamstress was touching it with her dirty hands trying to fix it and overall, I was just in complete shock. I ended up taking the dress that night, bringing it to another amazing seamstress in Denville on Main Street who fixed it...at this point my wedding day was 2 weeks away. The new seamstress took out 18 stays and somewhat fixed my dress. Oh, and Seng wouldn't refund me the $500 I paid in alterations. Sorry. Terrible alterations. Long story but no bride should go through what I went through 2 weeks before her wedding. Great store for BUYING a dress but they do TERRIBLE alterations. I trusted them and thought Seng would be good at alterations since this is their thing but I was so wrong! Also, at my first fitting, I wanted to try on veils and so the girl who was helping me only brought over 3 veils. And I was like, oh is this all you have and she said yes. I was in Seng Couture in Fanwood today. We were helped by Alison. I have NEVER in my life had an experience like we had. We left the store with my 12 year old daughter hysterically in tears. That to me shows there is a problem. A HUGE problem. We arrived right on time to find Alison waiting for us. That was a very nice start to the appt but, she was not very helpful, even after speaking with my daughter as to what she wanted in picking out dresses that my daughter liked. I went through the racks myself with my friend who had joined us and found the dresses for my daughter ourselves. Alison eventually came back yo the fitting room with a dress my daughter seemed to really like. She tried it on and fell in love with it. After requesting Alison to take a dress off the manaquin for my daughter to try, my daughter was now torn between the two. Alison, at this time, not prior, tells us she thinks the two dresses may not be available. Shouldn't this have been told to us before she tried them on! She did some checking and one was discontinued and the other was available if we ordered right then and there. It may not be available even the next day apparently. My daughter ran out of the store in tears. This didn't even phase Alison as she told me if we liked this dress there seam stress could re-create it. No thank you I said. She walked away mumbling something. On top of all this, she kept walking away from us to answer the phone. Some personal service this gave us. All in all, I would NOT recommend this store to anyone in need of a dress for any special occasion. Their customer service is worse than horrific! read more

Went to Seng Couture for a bridesmaid dress. Staff was extremely helpful. Ask for Lily, she was WONDERFUL. Unfortunately I can't say the same for Seng herself. At checkout (and please keep in mind that there are 7 of us and easily over a thousand dollars worth of business) asked if I could get the dress shipped to my house because my mother in law was a seamstress. Seng then (while helping a different bridal party at the next register) told me to have my mother in law do ALL of the alterations in a nasty tone. I am APPALLED. That's one bridesmaid out of 7 who wouldn't need alterations and this is how you speak to your customers because you're losing money? She was extremely rude and if it wasn't for the sake of the bride who I love very much, I wouldn't have given a woman a dime of my money. I've never left a bad yelp review to ANY business or one at all for that matter, but this woman was THAT rude. Before you give this woman your business, just please, never tell her that you'll have your alterations elsewhere because she will not treat you nicely. read more

This is the second time that I've gone to Seng's for that special gown I couldn't find anywhere else. Two years ago it was for my son's wedding. This year it was for my daughter's wedding. Each time Seng made a gown that was just beautiful! Each was fitted to perfection and if I was uncomfortable with any aspect of it at a fitting, Seng made adjustments for me. Since both of these gowns were actually original designs by Seng, I knew it would be special and like no other mother of the bride gown that I had seen.. I had to get a bridesmaids dress here. I was measured months ago and recently picked my dress up that was measured so poorly I can slip the dress on and off without unzipping it. I refused to get it altered here and am taking it elsewhere since I don't want to be ripped off on this too. So much fabric will be taken off the dress it's enough to make another and it will still look horrible as the bust (structured area) is so large it comes up to my neck as not much can be done to this part because it would ruin the dress style. I lost no weight since the measuring and according to internet prices of this dress paid the 100% + markup on this dress. Seng Couture had the nerve to charge $300 for this dress when searched online this dress is $114 at several vendors. This place is a rip off and a joke...do not even waste your time going. They say you pay for what you get.....not here. A beautiful dress of better quality could have been purchased at a nice department store's bridal section. P.S. the review that the man named Mike C. wrote is SADLY TRUE. I feel his pain as well as his poor wife's. read more

Upon arriving at Seng Couture, I was greeted and the staff was helpful. Four days later I contacted the company asking to cancel the order due to an unfortunate event. The manager that I spoke to was extremely rude over the phone and actually yelled at me. She stated that it's already being made and there's nothing she can do. The only advice she gave me was to "sell it on eBay." I spoke to a gentleman after, he wasn't too helpful, but he was much nicer than the other woman I spoke to. So unhappy with the service and staff. I was living out of state and was asked to be a part of my niece's wedding. I had to order my $200 dress over the phone. I called and told the staff I usually wear a 14-16 in dresses. I gave them my measurements and they stated I needed to order a size 24! Oh my. I explained my sizes again and they insisted I order the larger size. Ok, well maybe this designer runs small. Based on their "demand", I ordered the size 24. Fast forward three months and I'm in NJ. We go for our fitting and Surprise!!! The dress is 4 sizes too large!!! Seamstress pins the dress (basically remaking it) and goes to the manager to get pricing. She comes back with a $280 estimate to alter the $200 dress they told me to buy. Um what? YOU told me to order. Now you want me to pay MORE Then the cost of the dressed to alter it? Management refused to budge on the cost of the alterations and also refused to reorder the dress in the correct size. I was exceptionally angry but chose not to make a scene because this was my nieces big day. I took my dress to another seamstress to have the entire dress remade for $140. Found out from another bridesmaid, they did this to her as well. So fair warning, they will tell you to order a dress way too big and then charge you more than the cost of the dress to fix it. I had the most amazing experience at Seng Couture when I came in to find a wedding dress last week. I was pretty late in the game in terms of finding a wedding dress since my wedding is in September of this year. I went to the store and was pretty honest about why I put off the process for so long and the ladies there were so nice about it! This was the only bridal salon that I've been to and have never tried on wedding dresses before. I worked with Hilda, and she was such a gem. We picked out dresses that we thought would look good until she picked out the most perfect dress! It was the third dress that I tried on and both my mom and I knew that that was the one. Hilda was so sweet throughout the whole process. It was wonderful knowing that I wasn't being rushed or pressured to make a decision. The process could not have been any better. My dress has been ordered and hopefully the follow up appointments will be just as pleasant. I HIGHLY recommend this place. I am giving one star, because zero is not possible to write a review. I found a gorgeous wedding dress by designer Allure and phoned Seng to schedule an appointment to see/try on this particular dress. I called twice both times I was told Seng Couture had the dress, so I took off work and drove to Fanwood, only to arrive and be told, "oh we don't have that dress (which happens to be pictured outside there store as well), but we have something similar". ALL LIES, you do not tell people that you have a dress on two occasions and don't have it, that is called lying and why would you think if I called about a specific dress that I would want to see some other hideous dress you deem similar. I was then told that they would try to find a way to get the dress and contact me with information the following day, 3 days past still have not heard from these liars. I cannot believe it. The last thing BRIDES need with everything else going on is to be lied to about a dress and on a personal note again I took off work to come to this store. I will say it is a beautiful shop, so for those people who are open to different dress styles or have no idea what they want, this may be the place for you, but if you want people to be honest with you when you call with a specific style number because you know exactly what you want this is definitely not the place for you. They are simply hoping to get people in the door even if deceit is how to get them there. read more

I said YES to the dress at Seng Couture! I highly recommend this place if you are wedding dress shopping!! There were so many beautiful gowns to choose from that selecting dresses to try on was so easy. The only difficult part was choosing a dress I loved more than the other! Seng Couture makes the selection process simple by having the dresses grouped by designer and having a picture of the dress on a model so you can easily tell what type of dress it is, and to top it off basic alterations are complimentary! This was great news to me because I had a budget in mind, but was willing to spend more on my dress knowing I did not have to factor in alterations - that's at least a $400-500 savings! Illian assisted me and truly was a pleasure to work with. She picked out some really great dress options and made me feel very comfortable, never pressured or rushed. They also have a separate store for evening and special occasion dresses which I am certain I will visit soon with my mom so she can pick out a dress for my wedding too! read more

My wedding is October 1, 2016 - so it's rapidly approaching. Seng is incredible. Went here for a MOB dress at first. We loved everything we saw so we decided to go 2 doors down to Seng's bridal collection to look at gowns for myself too. There was a particular dress that I was looking for, but the samples never seem to come in ivory. Seng, of course, had the dress in ivory so I was finally able to put it on and say yes to the dress! I ended up buying my wedding dress here because the service is amazing (thanks Hilda and Illian!) and I love that Seng does all of the alterations herself. She has a huge selection of bridal gowns, so it was fun to still look through everything. My mother is beyond excited for her gown that she bought at Seng's evening wear shop as well! It was one-stop shopping for us. And have I mentioned how amazing the staff is?? I wasn't feeling well at the time (and was famished) so while I was trying on dresses - Seng's team went out and bought me a bagel so I wouldn't pass out haha! What other place would do that? I can't recommend Seng Couture enough. It's the best bridal/evening gown experience we've had, honestly. You won't regret going. Thanks again! read more
