I said YES to the dress at Seng Couture! I highly recommend this place if you are wedding dress shopping!! There were so many beautiful gowns to choose from that selecting dresses to try on was so easy. The only difficult part was choosing a dress I loved more than the other! Seng Couture makes the selection process simple by having the dresses grouped by designer and having a picture of the dress on a model so you can easily tell what type of dress it is, and to top it off basic alterations are complimentary! This was great news to me because I had a budget in mind, but was willing to spend more on my dress knowing I did not have to factor in alterations - that's at least a $400-500 savings! Illian assisted me and truly was a pleasure to work with. She picked out some really great dress options and made me feel very comfortable, never pressured or rushed. They also have a separate store for evening and special occasion dresses which I am certain I will visit soon with my mom so she can pick out a dress for my wedding too! read more

My wedding is October 1, 2016 - so it's rapidly approaching. Seng is incredible. Went here for a MOB dress at first. We loved everything we saw so we decided to go 2 doors down to Seng's bridal collection to look at gowns for myself too. There was a particular dress that I was looking for, but the samples never seem to come in ivory. Seng, of course, had the dress in ivory so I was finally able to put it on and say yes to the dress! I ended up buying my wedding dress here because the service is amazing (thanks Hilda and Illian!) and I love that Seng does all of the alterations herself. She has a huge selection of bridal gowns, so it was fun to still look through everything. My mother is beyond excited for her gown that she bought at Seng's evening wear shop as well! It was one-stop shopping for us. And have I mentioned how amazing the staff is?? I wasn't feeling well at the time (and was famished) so while I was trying on dresses - Seng's team went out and bought me a bagel so I wouldn't pass out haha! What other place would do that? Seng and her staff have been nothing but helpful and amazing since I started my wedding dress search last January. They were very accommodating when I went to the salon initially with a broken leg which came out of its cast a week prior. They took their time with me letting me try on as many dresses as I wished. I bought my dress that day and went back a month later for my veil. Again, it was so easy to make the appointment and get the service I wanted. My dress arrived in September and the fitting process was a breeze. The entire time they made sure my alterations would be done to my taste (they were also offered complimentary as a promotion they frequently have for brides). My dress was altered exactly as agreed upon and was picked up today. The staff taught my mom exactly how to bustle the dress and gave more than one option for it. We left after the dress was steamed and neatly packed away and then generously carried to the car for me. I had the most amazing experience at Seng Couture when I came in to find a wedding dress last week. I was pretty late in the game in terms of finding a wedding dress since my wedding is in September of this year. I went to the store and was pretty honest about why I put off the process for so long and the ladies there were so nice about it! This was the only bridal salon that I've been to and have never tried on wedding dresses before. I worked with Hilda, and she was such a gem. We picked out dresses that we thought would look good until she picked out the most perfect dress! It was the third dress that I tried on and both my mom and I knew that that was the one. Hilda was so sweet throughout the whole process. It was wonderful knowing that I wasn't being rushed or pressured to make a decision. The process could not have been any better. My dress has been ordered and hopefully the follow up appointments will be just as pleasant. I HIGHLY recommend this place. So unhappy with the service and staff. I was living out of state and was asked to be a part of my niece's wedding. I had to order my $200 dress over the phone. I called and told the staff I usually wear a 14-16 in dresses. I gave them my measurements and they stated I needed to order a size 24! Oh my. I explained my sizes again and they insisted I order the larger size. Ok, well maybe this designer runs small. Based on their "demand", I ordered the size 24. Fast forward three months and I'm in NJ. We go for our fitting and Surprise!!! The dress is 4 sizes too large!!! Seamstress pins the dress (basically remaking it) and goes to the manager to get pricing. She comes back with a $280 estimate to alter the $200 dress they told me to buy. Um what? YOU told me to order. Now you want me to pay MORE Then the cost of the dressed to alter it? Management refused to budge on the cost of the alterations and also refused to reorder the dress in the correct size. I was exceptionally angry but chose not to make a scene because this was my nieces big day. I took my dress to another seamstress to have the entire dress remade for $140. Found out from another bridesmaid, they did this to her as well. So fair warning, they will tell you to order a dress way too big and then charge you more than the cost of the dress to fix it. They MUST be deleting reviews off of wedding wire google and the knot because the service here is TRASH. As soon as I walked through the door I could tell that it wasn't going to be a pleasant experience. The staff was uninviting and had theee worst attitudes. The attendant was more focused on texting than the bridal appointment. I actually had to wait for her to finish texting before she helped me into my dresses. She was totally uninterested and dismissive. Wasn't into answering questions at all and was pretty curt. For example, I asked the average amount of time for a dress to come in and when to schedule alterations. She said, "Oh, you have time" and walked away. I only tried on two dresses before I decided to call it quits. I wish I had left before I even went into my room. Which they gave away while we were browsing the inventory. Didn't say anything until we came back to sit. Then made us move. I should be reimbursed for gas and time wasted. read more

This store is so shady. My daughter called for alterations on a bridesmaid dress not purchased there. I told her I didn't think they would because she didn't purchase it there. To my surprise they told her to come in. Hmmm that seemed fishy in itself. Special occasion stores do not alter dresses not purchased there. My daughter went in and put the dress on and then was told it would be 230$ cash to hem the dress!!!! And it had to be cash. Surprise surprise !! My daughter said no thank you and they unpinned the dress. They then took the dress in the back without telling her why. When she asked for her dress, they said they were steaming off the chalk. It was a long time so she asked for the dress. She called me in tears while she waited. I told her to go in the back room and demand her dress. When she asked for it they said, IF YOU DON't LET US STEAM OFF THE CHALK WE ARE CHARGING YOU FOR THE CHALK!!!! As she is not home yet , that dress better not be damaged. This is not the first time I have heard SHADY things about them. People who know Seng also know that she lies to her customers about prices and alterations after the fact once told a price then asked for more. CASH!!!! Why cash? They told her where she could find an ATM!! did not have wanted it in advance and told her where she could find an ATM!Since when do you pay for alterations in advance when they will be holding the dress!!! They are total crooks in there. If the IRS goes in there I'm sure they would be shut down in a week!!! read more

I bought my wedding dress here in August 2017. I had to put 50% deposit done per contract which I did. I called the store in January 2018 and told them I would not pay the remainder of the dress because I am pregnant and the dress would not fit. None of the employees said anything to me at that point. I told them I would be interested in another dress that would fit me. So I found another dress and put a deposit on the second dress. I was fully aware that I would lose the deposit on the first dress. However they failed to mention to me that per contract I had to buy the first dress. So what they did to me was they held my second dress "hostage". They would not give me the second dress unless I paid the full amount of the first dress. I confronted Patty from sales about this and she flat out lied to my face saying that she informed of this before. If I would have known this I would have bought a second dress at another bridal store!!! (There are many nice bridal shops in the area) I would not have supported this miserable guys business. The owner had the nerve to tell me "Its not my fault you got pregnant". I was very angry at him for saying such comments. He had no empathy and I had no choice but to get stuck with two wedding dresses. Mind you I was already upset that I lost the deposit of the first dress now I had to pay the full amount. The owner said that If I didn't pay the total for the first dress he would report me to the credit bureau!!!! So this is how evil this guy is he uses scare tactics to make you get your wedding dress! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I had my sister with me as a witness to all the horrible things he said to me. As far as the second dress goes the alterations were horrible. They looked like they rushed to do the alterations the straps looked like they just tied knots and didn't even do any alterations. I would never recommend this place! I don't think it gets much better than this. I am embarrassed that it took me so long to write this review. My daughter was got married October, 2016. We started the search for both our dresses around January. We went to several places in the city, Brooklyn and to Kleinfelds, as well as 4-5 places in NJ (I live in NJ but my daughter lives in Manhattan). She found the dress she wanted after several months, in a shop in Morristown. But they didn't have the color she wanted (she wanted Ivory rather than Blush), and she felt the need to see it in Ivory before leaving a deposit. We went to Seng to actually look for a dress for me as MOB. I worked with Seng only. She gave me time without rushing, honest feedback, and she squeezed me into a size 8 when I am a size 12 just so I could get an idea of how I might look. She had a good selection of dresses for me, several of which were her designs. Some of the dresses in the shop were matronly (none that she personally designed though), but most were beautiful. Although the dress I ultimately bought was only in a size 8 in the shop, several of the other sample dresses fit me and I was able to zip them up. One or two were too big. I was thrilled with one of the dresses that she put me in (this particular one was her design), but I wanted a different neckline, it had to have sleeves (it was sleeveless), I wanted the bottom of another dress she designed that I saw, it needed more swarvorski crystals, and I wanted a different color. All were no problem. And with a smile. I was really delighted. So there are 2 stores, just a few doors apart - one is just bridal dresses, the other is MOB, dressy dresses, prom, etc. She goes back and forth between both. They are both immaculate. Since this was suppose to be an appointment just for me, only went into the bridal shop to take a quick look for my daughter. My daughter told Seng that she had already found her dress, but just needed to see it in the right color. They said they carried the dress, but also only had it in the blush color. So we thanked them, got into our car which was parked right in front of the store, turned on the engine, and Seng's husband came running out of the store and knocked on the window. He said he found the dress in her color! This was just the beginning of the absolutely amazing service we received from Seng and her staff. We ordered our dresses. They took a 50% deposit on each. And we paid for my daughter's veil in full. We waited about 4-6 months for them to come in. Mine came in August 1 and my daughter's came in very shortly thereafter. We went back for our first fitting mid-August. My dress had to be taken in a full size. I lost a bit of weight, but Seng said she never chances it and orders big because it's harder to let out than take in, and she like to be safe. Besides, everyone says they're going to loose weight, but she can't take a chance with that either. My daughter's fit pretty well. Seng asked that the next time we come, we should bring the shoes we were going to wear. We figured, one more fitting. We had five more fittings! Each time there was just a little tweek, but Seng insisted that it be perfect. And NOTHING we asked was too much for her. Nothing. We also brought my original wedding dress to Seng (first time I handled it in 35 years - it had been preserved in a box since then) and she meticulously took some of the lace from the sleeve of my dress and sewed it into the train of my daughter's. What a beautiful job she did! It was amazing and you could tell that she took such painstaking care to not ruin my dress, and make my daughter's look all the more beautiful. This was an amazing experience. I could not have asked for, or hoped for anything better. I had been to 6 other shops (and came very close to putting a deposit down on a dress in another shop) and nothing, nowhere was like this. If you need a MOB dress, or your daughter need a wedding gown, go see Seng and her staff. Work with Seng if you can. You will not be disappointed. She is lovely, sweet, a master dressmaker, knows what looks good, never once rushed me, and tells the truth. She is the best. read more

I purchased both my wedding gown and veil at Seng Couture and could not recommend this store more highly. I tried on about 30 dresses at three other stores, but Seng Couture proved a cut above for several reasons. 1. The saleswomen who work there were far more experienced and knowledgeable than those at any other shop I visited. The sales associates at the other stores had been in the industry for under a year. But at Seng, I worked with Mabel, who had over 20 years of experience. Her many years in the industry really showed; she was able to give me the guidance I needed while also making me feel like I was making my own decision. 2. They allow you to look through the dresses yourself. At other shops, the sales associates made me wait for long periods of time and often brought back dresses that were not a good fit for me. 3. My price point was under $2000, and there were numerous options for me at Seng Couture. 4. There is a wide range of styles to choose from at Seng Couture. My style is more classic and I ultimately purchased a lace ballgown. But the bride next to me chose a very edgy and modern gown that hugged every curve and featured an unusual diamond-shaped pattern. I felt like we were at opposite ends of the spectrum, and yet there were great options for both of us. 5. Seng herself gives a lot of her time with every bride. It is clear that she puts her entire heart into every dress she sells. 6. The folks at Seng can offer you very helpful advice with all aspects of your look. Ilian helped me select a veil. She gave me honest and thoughtful feedback, and clearly knew the inventory so well that she could find veils in different parts of the store for me to try. She showed me why some veils worked and others didn't, balancing offering her expertise while also giving me the space to make my own decision. Thank you for such a happy and special experience! Hilda was not only a liar, but she was also so extremely rude to my mother and bridesmaids. It makes me so angry to think about. First of all, my mother was 1 minute late and as soon as she walked in she turns to my mother and says "you're late." Then, after the first dress I tried on she told me the clock is ticking and to essentially hurry up because she has another appointment. She was also extremely rude to one of my bridesmaids who was just trying to help. At one point I literally had to ask her to please end the conversation because she was making me feel uncomfortable. After my mom talked to Seng (the owner) and told her about our experience, the owner didn't even have the decency to offer me a better price on the gown. To top it all off, she flat out lied to me about the style of the dress that I tried on, and made me think it was the "dream dress" that I went to the store to try on. It was a beyond awful experience. No bride should be treated that away, or their family and friends. To say the least, I will not be purchasing my dress from Seng. read more

My mother and I were so happy to find Seng Couture when shopping for her mother of the bride dress for my wedding later this year. We had an appointment with Seng and she pulled a bunch of dress ideas for my mom. I think my mom probably tried on about 12 dresses and they were all really great. I couldn't believe how many dresses she has in that shop! I didn't expect to find such a great store in Fanwood (20 years ago there really wasn't much in downtown Fanwood!). I was worried that it was going to be hard to find a dress because they all looked really good, but luckily there was one that really stood out. The dresses are unique, many designed by Seng, and many take 6 months to make because they are not off the rack - they are made for each individual. It's good to work with somebody who knows dresses so well as Seng clearly does. I highly recommend this store for unique dresses and individualized service. You won't get these dresses in a department store and you certainly won't get to work with someone who cares and knows so much about dresses! read more

Just had a bad experience at Seng Couture. They are difficult to work with. My daughter felt pressured to say yes to the dress and regretted it. Less than 24 hours after placing order we called to cancel. Even though dress was scheduled to ship 9 months from now before we even bought it. Now they can't issue a refund. Didn't care that they were ruining a brides special day. Very nasty on the phone. Gave option of picking another dress but if less money had to pay the higher price. A store that works with a manufacturer should have rapport with them. It was less than 24 hours later. The order absolutely could be cancelled. Just interested in bottom line and didn't want to lose a sale at the expense of a bride. I should have known when an angry customer came in with a billing overcharge and they quickly brought him into the back. I can tell you he was very angry when left too.
