This store is slightly off the beaten path of the Indian clothing stores in the oak tree area, and yet it is absolutely the best. I spent days shopping all of the stores in the area for several weddings I had coming up, and came back and purchased almost all of the clothes I needed for myself and my family from this shop. The clothing selection is fantastic, gorgeous lehengas and suits along with some really unique options, for both men and women. Items at all price points, and some of the best prices for the higher end items I was looking for that I've seen. And the service was incredible, Netu spent an entire day with myself and my family helping us try things on, find options in our sizes, recommend things outside of our sizes that might work, help us figure out what could match and what could be ordered.... I had no idea what to do but I was attending at Diwali celebration in Edison and was told I should wear a bindi. I came in looking for a bindi and Sheila from The Mall at Oak Tree helped me. I showed her the picture of my dress and she picked out nice bindis to wear. She also suggested I put on the dress and she would help me. I purchased a saree and some ethnic jewelry for a Bollywood party in Central Jersey last weekend, and did not know how to put it on. My husband and I are not of the culture, but we weren't judged, and were treated with respect and patience while there. I think the staff is very attentive and they have a great selection here. I was very happy with what I ended up buying, even though I was shopping somewhat last minute, I still found pieces I would love regardless. The only issue I had was the tailoring job, the top on my dress was left with the straps far too long, it didn't look good. They assured me it could be taped down and since it seemed too late to do another round of alterations, I went with it even though the tape was not sufficient. I would definitely shop here again, but I would either bring it to another tailor or make sure I have time for multiple rounds of alterations. read more

Wonderful and very convenient experience finding a wedding dress. The dress I chose was the first one I ever tried on, at a MOK trunk show in NYC. I traveled around Bombay afterwards, but nothing was as good. I worked with a Rekha to order it - which enabled me to easily get alterations in NJ. Fortunately, Rekha's measurements and directions to the designer were so clear that my custom-made dress fit like a glove on first try. The dress arrived within the 3-4 mo estimated window - they made a few same day tweaks. A gorgeous, smooth experience with the amazing support and fashion guidance of Rekha. My mom also bought her dress here working with Rekha - same amazing experience (perfect fit, perfect tweaks/customizations). I visited the Mall at Oak Tree in February of 2020 to shop for my wedding gown and mehndi attire. I had only worn Indian attire once before, so I was a little anxious about finding something fashionable, well fitting and that fit my own vision for the wedding. I visited a few stores prior to the Mall at Oak Tree and didn't find anything that was quite right. However, I knew when I started looking through the many dresses and designers here that I would find something perfect! Even better, I was able to get both dresses at a price much lower than my overall budget! The staff did a great job taking my measurements and guiding me about fit and style since I had never worn a lehenga previously. Both dresses arrived early for my delayed wedding in June of 2021, along with a custom dupatta for my bridal lehenga. Each piece fit really well and required very little adjustment (had to remove cups and add elastic to one skirt's waistline). All of our friends and family loved both pieces and I truly felt like a princess at each event! Buyer beware - if you're not local to Edison and/or immediately planning to spend thousands of dollars, I don't recommend shopping here. I made a trip from DC to the Mall at Oak Tree for potential bridal wear and ended up buying an outfit I liked for a pre-wedding event. So many things went wrong: 1) No promised alterations were done on my outfit. Chirag, the owner or someone with authority there, seems to believe alterations were done "incorrectly," as though I somehow grew 4 inches in height and lost 40 lbs in 2 weeks... 2) This item was "less than $1000," so when a family member went to pick it up after it was supposed to be altered to my size, Rekha told her the item was not expensive enough to iron or send in a garment bag (things that were promised to us when we bought the outfit). 3) Rekha forgot to send the dupatta that belonged with the outfit. This had to be mailed to me. The Mall tried to fix the alterations on my outfit twice, but they lost my measurements so the outfit they sent back 1) cutoff my circulation and 2) then reverted back to being too big. This was even after I FaceTimed them to give them my measurements. In the end, this whole saga took over a month and I never got a properly tailored outfit. I got my lehenga for my sangeet from here and it was the easiest, most fun, and most convenient experience ever. I had a general idea of what I wanted, and when my parents and I went to the Mall at Oak Tree, I tried on some outfits and found the lehenga that I ended up choosing! Sheela, Ritu ji, and Niharika were helpful and overall fun to work with. They had great suggestions, and we were able to place the order quickly! I wanted a different color than the lehenga that I had found in the store, so they took my measurements and the color I wanted, and sent it to India. I did all of my wedding outfit shopping at the mall! If you want to find designer outfits this is the only place I found in the New York New Jersey area that had as much of a selection of designer outfits. Now this may make you think it is automatically more pricey but truth be told if you go looking for a knock off of a designer outfit, you will be spending about the same and at time even more. Chirag and Niharika were the best as was the rest of their staff. To add to it, my husband and I met Tarun Tahiliani himself in person and he personally helped me pick out my wedding outfit! My experience with Simran at the mall at oak tree was absolutely wonderful!!! Me, my mom and masi came in the beginning of May to shop for a lehenga for my Sangeet that was going to be at the end of June. We knew we were shopping last minute but while we were there we fell completely in love with a lehenga that was already bought my some one else. Rather than just saying tough luck Simran went out of her way to see if she could get another version of the lehenga we fell in love with.... and she found a way! The designer custom made my outfit but staff at Mall at Oak Tree was difficult to reach and unresponsive throughout the entire process. Alterations were included in the upfront price but a nightmare to organize. I had to make several trips to the store, employees don't answer the phone or call you back and they make promises they can't keep. My mom's designer saree arrived 2 days before the wedding although we placed the order 6 months prior. None of this would have been possible with out Rupal's advice and help. She was absolutely incredible at giving honest advice from her experience and was in contact whenever we needed her through WhatsApp. She answered any questions and worked with us so well. I cannot say enough great things about this store. Firstly, during this pandemic, the owners and sales staff take appropriate safety measures. The sanitizer station right in the entryway and temperature checks were much appreciated. Secondly, the selection of gowns, lehengas, salwar kameez is extensive. This was the first store I walked in to to find an outfit for my nikkah ceremony. I slowly took my time browsing each section and rack. I did not feel rushed and was even guided to specific racks to see all the options. There is a wide range of designer options plus customization options. Prices as well, depending on what you are looking for are very reasonable. There is almost no way to not find your dream outfit here. Thirdly, Ritu aunty and her sales staff (Sheela) were INCREDIBLE. So kind, attentive, and knowledgable about the pieces with a good eye for trends and fashion. They provided thoughtful guidance with respect to which outfits to try and possible customization ideas. They generously and patiently gave me the time to try on the same lehenga multiple times until i finally made my decision. Overall, the shopping experience was pleasant, fruitful and stress-free. MUST READ! My wedding saree (and bridal party sarees) were a complete fiasco and I started in February. 6 months later and a month from the wedding, I'm getting zero responses from them as to what will be done to fix the situation. We bought 5 silk (basically 75% of their South Indian saree inventory) South Indian sarees here in February as well as a Tarun Tahilani lengha (essentially spending $$$$). In May, much longer than the originally promised 4-5 weeks, we go to pick up the 3 sarees we left behind for stitching and the lengha. 1. My mothers saree blouse had been stitched in my size!! I had assigned my future mother in law and my mother a purple color and now that saree is ruined. So to rectify the situation, they said ok, we will find matching fabric with a similar design and work on it and stitch it for your mother. Ready in 4-5 weeks. 8 weeks later, in JULY they shipped it to me. Looks only half way decent - but we have no choice. My mother either has to wear an older saree or this one, we don't have time now to go looking and get another one done 2. THEY LOST MY WEDDING SAREE BLOUSE PIECE. They kept saying the blouse piece is not lost not lost we have it somewhere.... in JULY they found the unaltered blouse piece to this saree (we think?) and stitched it here in store in 3 days and shipped it. SO POORLY STITCHED! The cups are stupidly close together, and while my mothers accidental blouse in my size fits me well, this one won't even button. The lining is complete sh*t. If you put one next to the other, my wedding saree blouse looks like it's been stitched by a 5 year old. We don't live locally so it's a weekend trip - we are now on trip #3! We are a month from the wedding!! I need everything altered too, not just the wedding saree but another one and the lengha too. What's amazing is I can call until I am blue in the face and I get NO ANSWER. I even have the sales girl and owner's (Rekha and Ritu), phone #s and have texted. No response. We spent so much $$$$ but I agree with other reviewers here and on google review that once you pay - you're no longer the important customer. Prospective new customers get the attention - I've been hung up on, I've been put on hold, promised I'll get a call back and then gotten none. BEWARE. I've shopped at many MANY Indian places in NJ, NY and MA. For the first time in a very long time, I've had good service by an Indian retailer at the Mall at Oak Tree. My family always shops there and they always talk about the remarkable customer service the staff provides. I can say that I definitely experienced it in August and this past weekend. Rupal Aunty has been absolutely amazing. Despite being busy at the store on the weekend in August, she helped us find the right outfit as well as helped us with customizing it to my comfort. She followed up with me several times to apologize for the delay from shipment from India. When I went few weeks later to pick up my outfit, I had lost some weight hence the outfit was big on me. The staff at MAOT was very helpful in taking my measurements again without hesitation to have the outfit fit me. Most Indian places don't care nor do they want to deal with you once the purchase has been made, let alone offer multiple alterations. Except for maybe one or two Indian retailers, I have never had this kinda service and follow through from an Indian clothing retailer/staff before (Kinda sad that many Indians still don't understand the power of good customer service for customer acquisition). I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for good quality Indian clothes/designs. I went to the mall at oak tree road after running into it online. I tried two things. One for my wedding reception and another one for another occassion. I didn't buy them rightaway thinking I'd rather look around. I looked around the entire oak tree road area and nothing really even seemed worth trying on. So, I went back and bought the two things I tried on. One outfit I got is by Ritu Kumar and another by Anju Modi. They're both very well known and good designers and definitely not cheap. After having their general prices checked in India, I figured I did pay a little bit more, but that was for the convenience of finding things right here in the US. The other places on Oak Tree road do not sell high end designer wear. I am very satisfied with my purcheses. It is very nice to have all the good designer bridal wear (and other designer wear) at one location. The staff was very friendly. Half of my stress about going to India for a short time and prepping for a wedding is gone, knowing that I have good timeless designer outfits that I like. I think that in itself is worth it. I do think that if it wasn't my wedding, and if I wasn't so stressed out about going to India for such a short time, I wouldn't want to spend that much, so I understand what the other reviewer said. read more

For designer wear, I found something in Tarun Tahiliani's collection (absolutely gorgeous outfit) for $300! In fact I did a price comparison to Mumbai and Delhi prices, the mall matches and in some cases is less than the prices out there. For my reception outfit, I had a concept in my mind and was unsure of how it would look on me. The team at the mall spent relentless hours to help me bring the outfit to life. Ritu worked with me on the design, guided me on what would look right for my body size. She was patient and absolutely fabulous. For the execution, Niharika worked closely with their local designers to get the design exactly how we had discussed. She would give me weekly updates on the progress of my order. And let me say her execution is impeccable! I am absolutely in love with my outfit and have gotten so many compliments off of it! Let me explaineI bought my Sangeet outfit at The Mall on Oaktree Road and several hours later after the shops had closed realized that my wallet was missing. Paniced, I took a chance and called the store after hours hoping that someone would still be there and check and see if my wallet - containing Credit Cards, Checkbook, Cash, ID - etc was still there since it was the last place I had charged anything. And guess what? Someone picked up the phone and said that they would check with the owner who I had met earlier that day. Not only did she call me but she also got up in the middle of her dinner to drive to her store to check if the wallet was there. And it WAS there - crisis averted. My point: several store owners would have made you wait until the morning to do anything on your behalf, particularly after they had already made a sale with you. This store owner didn't wait. Apart from that - a couple of other things - merchandise is several notches above anything else you can find in Edison. They have all sorts of designers such as Satya Paul, Tarun, etc. housed under one location. My Sangeet outfit was my favorite outfit of the 10 or so equally fancy ones that I wore at my wedding. I had a great experience at The Mall when I went shopping last weekend. I had to buy an outfit for a friend's wedding and the staff was with me the entire time helping me pick the outfit, matching jewelry, shoes and a bag! I needed some alterations for the blouse and the skirt and the staff took my measurements and said it would be ready on time. I picked up my blouse and skirt yesterday and the fitting was great. I had an amazing experience here in purchasing my wedding reception Lengha and it was all because of one of the sales associates , Rekha. I didn't have the opportunity to shop in India and had gone to countless other shops in the NY/NJ which were all lacking in in selection and in customer service. I was able to order the most beautiful Payal Singhal piece through Rekha. From start to finish Rekha was amazing- always available, polite, and professional. In fact I was devastated when I found out 2 weeks before my wedding that the lengha was slightly to long and had to be shortened. But Rekha took care of everything and so quickly, Even with all the heavy embroidery they were able to make it the perfect length! And they did not even charge me for the alterations which must have been complicated! I got so many compliments on my outfit at my wedding. It was truly special. First of all, the girls here are extremely pushy. I drove from boston to nj purchase my reception saree and try on bridal lehengas. Every single time I asked to try different lehangas, the girls made me feel so uncomfortable because they were aggressive in selling the clothes. I couldn't take pictures of me trying on the lehenga at the store I can't believe that these people would sell clothes to customers. They are profiting on designer prices through these bad tactics. I will no longer be shopping here. 1 star for the women who helped me. She was really really pushy! I told her from the very beginning that I was JUST looking, and no where near ready to make a purchase. I guess she just really wanted a sale because she wouldn't stop pushing me, and it only got worse when she kept following me to every piece I looked at. They could easily improve but the pushiness needs to stop, it definitely makes brides feel uncomfortable. Overall the collections were okay, I liked the designer things a lot.
