Had a great evening at Sen. Gustavo took care of us very well. It was very busy and the space is maxed out. I was so happy to see that this establishment has Little Sumo Sake. It's my favorite, it's been hard to find in restaurants. My husband started with the shrimp tempura roll and I had a rainbow roll, I made sure to tell them not to put shrimp due to my allergy. After that our appetites grew so I ordered edamame and a tuna Hama roll. The tuna Hama looks very plain but it has a nice kick to it, I enjoyed it very much. My husband also ordered a dragon roll and a tiger roll. The hot lemon ginger honey tea was super delicious and just what I needed to finish my evening. Came here on a weekend getaway to Sag Harbor. They don't reservations but we were sat right away. The ambiance is classy/casual. The sushi was nothing outstanding, but it was good. We started with the crunch rice tuna (crispy rice). The rice was a bit chewy and hard to eat. Rolls: Torched salmon: I love torched rolls, and their torched salmon roll lived up to my expectation. Next time, however, I would ask for it without the chili threads because it made the roll a bit hard to eat and was stringy. Tiger Roll: This roll was light, and very flavorful. It comes wrapped in a green soy paper instead of rice. Tuna Avocado: You can't go wrong with this classic. Overall, the service was good and the staff were friendly. Sen is a modern Japanese restaurant in downtown Sag Harbor. The restaurant has a lot of seating and also has a sushi bar if you want to sit in front of the sushi chef and order there. The restaurant was packed the whole time we were there and it was a loud atmosphere. The food didn't take too long to come out and we tried some great appetizers and sushi rolls. We had the seaweed salad and Crispy Rice Tuna bites to start. Both were amazing and my girlfriend said it was the best crispy rice tuna she has had! For sushi rolls we tried the Torched Salmon, Tuna Hama, and Garuda. The Garuda was my favorite, and had lightly fried tempura outside. Really nice ambiance, we ate in the backyard garden and Gustavo was very patient and polite with us. He answered all of our questions and accommodated the vegans at our table. He was great. The food was great! The wait time was a bit much, but it's Sag Harbor on a Saturday, what do you expect? My sister's vegan roll was great, and the chicken karaage was great with the pickled ginger. My girlfriend and I ate here on Saturday, 10/28/23. We both were very sick the following day all day long. I called today, the first manager said he would "ask the kitchen" and call me back, never did. I called back two hours later and spoke to a different manager who said they would refund the bill which was the least they could do. No apology, no explanation or anything, mostly just arguing with me. I got notification of a refund, they only refunded one dish, as opposed to the whole bill. Not really acceptable in my opinion. You trust that paying money for food will not get you sick and if it does, at the very least, you'll get an empathetic apology and full refund and an assurance that they will check their food to make sure nobody else gets sick and that they're doing their best to never have something like this happen again. This was a solid sushi restaurant in Sag Harbor. They do not take reservations, so you just have to go to their back patio and add your name to the waitlist. I went tonight and added my name at 7:15pm and was seated about an hour later. Currently they are doing outdoor seating. They turned their parking lot into a nice outdoor dining area with astroturf, picnic tables, and string lights. Our waiter, Anthony, was incredibly nice, patient, and helpful. We got canned sake that was delicious. For appetizers we had they edamame (really good and not overly salty at all) and the crispy tuna rice dish (it comes with four decently sized pieces, really tasty). We ordered a whole assortment of sushi for our main. They did a great job with the special rolls in terms of combining ingredients that go well together. The quality of the fish is good, but not Nakazawa level. The only thing that I did not like was their fatty tuna - it was a hard piece in it which wasn't pleasant. It did take quite a while for the food to come out, but since I was with a group of 5, we enjoyed spending the time hanging out so it wasn't a big deal. read more

One appetizer is better than the next at Sen. The rolls are all made fresh and they're extremely tasty. A favorite appetizer of ours are the chicken lemongrass dumplings. They're great!
