Food was okay, ordered chicken teriyaki with vegetables and rice, almost no flavor. Sushi was alright. We were expecting a little more from it. The waitress was nice but there was a problem, he charged two other things that we never ordered on the check, we realized only after I paid, and tipped him 20% of that total amount!! we proceeded to tell him and pointed the items that were never order by us and he said you guys are absolutely right that's a mistake, he took the check back to cancel and redo the payment, he only took 1 of the items off and left the tip that was for the old total! So not only he made a mistake twice but he also had the audacity to leave the old tip from the old total on the new check with only one item removed!!! Will never go back to this place! I ate here this week for the first time in a while. It's incredibly over priced like all Hamptons food and very meh 1. I am giving this 2 stars because the sushi was fine but nothing to write home about. Annoying they gave us the smallest amount of ginger and soy sauce for several roles and were annoyed when I asked for more. 2. We ordered the vegetable stir fry and red Thai curry and they are basically the same. The red Thai curry has that sauce soaked in the rice under the veggies. The curry sauce was bland and not good and the veggies in both dishes were sort of flavorless and just tasted like sesame oil. Maybe the meat is better? read more

I think it has fallen off its rocker to try and serve fish of inferior quality. We ordered from Yama Q yesterday. For one, they answered their phone even though they were extremely busy. I found them to be really professional and came out to the car to give me the food during the covid 19 environment. Err, I'm not sure why yelp has this down as a bakery unless sushi is being sold in bakeries now. Anyways, this place is adorable and very cozy. They don't have too many tables and don't accept reservations, so your best bet is planning on an early dinner if you're not keen on waiting (it's worth the wait if you're on the fence). They have a pretty decent sized menu featuring Asian inspired dishes. I usually have dumplings, sushi or vegetable tempera as an appetizer and opt for the Yama Q salad as an entree. The desserts change from time to time, but the things that I've tried have been great. However excellent, the food is a little pricier than most sushi places which knocks it down a star. read more

What i think about the foods? The food is average, dont have much choices to eat. I ordered the monkfish fritters and agedashi tofu for my appetizer. And for my entree had sushi platter then strawberry rhubarb for pie. None of what i ordered is making me want to come back there again. I have to say this is my favorite place to eat when I am out that way. The salads are completely over sized! For lunch there are great specials and wonderful wraps. For dinner there are wonderful vegetarian and fresh local fish dishes. The sushi is fresh with great vegetarian roll choices. And dessert... oh la la! The desserts are great! All made there and always changing with the season. The strawberry-rhubarb crisp Ala mode (with ginger ice cream) is my favorite. It is a small place and they DO take reservations! read more

If you are in the area for lunch on the weekdays they have lunch specials which are an amazing value. Mediocre sushi, small to tiny cuts of sashimi, bland and overpriced salads. Not where to start but I will tell you that I will never be back. I took out 2 pieces of salmon, 2 pcs of yellow tail, 2 pcs of tuna, and order of Saba noodles, a Greek salad(go figure) a shrimp tempora roll and 2 other rolls and for 100 dollars I could not have expected the tiny and torn fillets, the tiny and bland food. I give this place 2 stars for a few reasons. Was looking for an intimate sushi spot and stumbled on Yama q.....sat in the back. No view (we knew that? The dinning ending in dark dismay and the server was too busy to serve us the way we (or anyone) deserved. We ordered 2 miso soups, 2 tempura shrimp, a beer, panna, and the sashimi plate. I've been here twice so far. The first time, I had the vegetable stir fry and it was fantastic - very well prepared, fresh assortment of veggies, well seasoned and balanced with just a touch of sesame oil. A 4-star meal. But the second time I went, just last night, I had the organic chicken teriyaki. What a letdown. The chicken was dry, obviously had been pre-cooked and sitting in the kitchen for a while. The vegetables had also been pre-cooked were and not at all fresh - the green beans had big slimy brown spots on them. The teriyaki sauce was nice, and the brown rice was good, too. But the whole dish had this ham-handed, slapped together feel. And for $22 it really should have been perfect. Oh well. That was at best a 2-star meal, so that's how I arrived at a 3-star rating. Nice to see they serve organic chicken, though. UPDATE: I went again a couple months ago and it was fantastic. So they're getting upgraded to four stars. read more

I am not a big sushi fan at all (I actually don't understand the whole thing, and think it's kind of trendy nonsense that New Yorkers do just to feel cultured or something), but I liked this place, and I liked the sushi that my girlfriend made me eat. What's up with fried vegetables by the way? You feel like you're doing your body a favor by eating vegetables, but then you're kind of reversing that good by eating a fried food. Wierd. For our main course, it was the spicy tuna rolls, and I ordered the organic chicken teriyaki since I knew raw fish rolled up in rice sure as hell wasn't going to fill me up. When you decide to eat out whether at the actual location or pick up/delivery it's a luxury; and at the most you want to feel that the establishment cares about their food and your experience. So with that said this is not the place for that. If I can give no stars I would. First my husband found plastic in his food. The food that was not plastic had No taste. The rolls you see pictured by the restaurant are not accurate as you can see in my picture; all rice no substance. I can also tell you that they missed things from our order, and that the seared tuna looked like duck with nothing else with it despite being an entree. But for me the worst part was the lack of concern or care from the manager. He acted as if he did us a favor calling us back. When I told him everything he said "they don't specialize in pick up orders". Can you believe that (than don't have it as an option if you don't care). I didn't call for my money back which I told him. He made little to no effort in doing anything for us. He asked me to send him the pictures, I did, he never responded. So in closing, if your looking for quality and care this is definitely not the place. Don't be fooled by pictures. This is just a general comment about all the sushi places in the Hamptons, and they are all pretty much the same. SERVE more food. The meager portions would be suitable for boat people, but not hungry Americans. Went to Yama Q the other night and the bill was $83 before the tip and that was for one etaname appetizer, two entrees and a small Saki. Anyway, as usual, I left there hungry and hit the 7-11 on the way home to grab a sandwich. My wife told me "I should have ordered an appetizer." I guess she was right. Used to be, for normal people, an entree would provide suitable satiety value. Now you are left with the choice of having an appetizer too or leaving the table hungry because the entree portions are too small. I am sure people will think I am misogynistic for saying this, but I don't care. Sushi portions are consistent with female comfort around public food consumption. Guys don't care. Pile it on. We'll eat it. Girls don't like to be on public display consuming large portions of food. This is the bread and butter of sushi portion control and profits. Of course, women alone at home will unwittingly eat an entire bag of doritos in front of yet another Sex and the City rerun, but that's OK, since it is a private eating session. Anyway, Sushi proprietors should be thankful for female insecurity around public food consumption. It means big profits. But if they were really smart, they'd give a little more rice to the guys because we don't care what people see us eat in public and we would willingly go these chintzy little fish places if for once we didn't leave the building HUNGRY!!
