We absolutely loved our first time stay at Barons Cove. We can in the off season November but the place seemed very busy with guests. We stayed two nights in a dog friendly room, which was spacious and clean - no previous smell of a dog at all! They had a dog bed and treats with bowls waiting for her. It was so cute! We visited the restaurant and our food was great. Service was quick and helpful with the menu as well. They had the fire place on which was so nice. We went to the bar/lounge afterwards and had a few drinks by that fireplace. So nice and relaxing. Staff was always welcoming and all drinks and food were good. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. That's all you can ask for! My only complaint was when we were checking out I wanted to make sure our bill was correct and wanted to speak with someone. With Sunday brunch going on upstairs there was no one at the front desk for almost 15 minutes. During the time I was waiting two other people came behind me to wait as well. The front desk person who came back was quick and friendly to get us checked out but for the price I would think someone would be there at all times? We can't wait to come back to Barons Cove soon!! read more

Our two night stay at Baron's Cove was a mixed experience. On the plus side: 1) Their staff is friendly and helpful (especially Concierge Eliza). 2) Decor is pretty and homey with flowers all around. 3) We didn't get to use the saltwater pool but it looked inviting. 4) Free live music in the lounge every night was a nice perk. 5) Walkable to town or free bikes provided. 6) Spacious room with cute patio. 7) On-site dining available. Room to Improve: 1) Inflexible 4:00PM check-in. They emailed to ask when we'd arrive beforehand; I said 2:00 and would appreciate an early check-in, they said to wait and will text me when room was ready. Actually we had to wait outside in the heat or in the crowded lounge until 4:30PM, no early check-ins for anyone (there were other guests waiting with us). We would have walked into town for lunch had we known this. 2) Free coffee but no included food for breakfast, which is only served in their upstairs restaurant at extra charge. At BC's price point they could have offered a few complementary pastries, as is done at many cheaper venues. 3) The a/c in our room was old, noisy, had no remote and didn't work well. Musty smell in room. 4) Lunch served outside only in all kinds of weather, insufficient umbrellas to provide shade on hot day. (Pls see separate review for their restaurant). We came here for our anniversary weekend and I can honestly say, this was one of the best experiences we have ever had at a hotel. Granted, we stayed in the off season but, the rooms are fantastic and the bar with live music on Friday and Saturday night was a great added bonus. As is our custom, we ate at the bar on Friday night. The food was very good and with a price fix menu of $40 for three courses, we were surprised for Sag Harbor. On top of that, they bought us two rounds of drinks. We also had brunch in the same cozy bar on Saturday morning and again, the food was great. They also bought us one of the two cocktails that we had. Saturday night , dinner and music at the bar was again very good. We sat at the bar at 5:30 and left at 11:00 PM. Full night of food and cocktails. When we received the bill, $108.00. I said there has to be a mistake. The bartender (who was phenomenal) said we heard it was your anniversary, the drinks are on us. I obviously cannot say enough. The was most generous experience I have ever had. read more

I've stayed many times over 10 years. This time was pretty bad. I filled out the online form for early check in and despite being told that was going to happen, the check in was late. We had an excellent breakfast. I was at the pool waiting for check in, and had drinks. After initial service the server vanished. It began to rain, so we ducked onto the terrace. I asked the same server for drinks and she refused, saying that the pool would not reopen and I had to close my tab, because "she was going home." I went to the front desk and asked about my early check-in. At this point it was 10 minutes before I was supposed to check in anyway, and she said "not yet but we're on it." I told her clearly she was not because my regular check in time is 10 minutes away. Thanks for nothing. I retreated back to the patio A different server came into the patio and was helping another table and I asked if she could stop over when she was done so I could order some drinks. She did not. I approached the woman that said that she was going home, again, and she refused to help and said that I had to deal with the bartender myself. When I went to the bar I realized that the server that ignored me was in fact the bartender and asked her if she could help me. I reminded her that I had asked before and she had walked away. I asked politely "Can I get some service please ." She took my order but a manager delivered my drinks. He promised to retrieve my keys so I could get into my room. The rain stopped and we went back out to the pool deck while we waited for our room. I had to get my own towels. He delivered the keys 10 minutes after check in. The room, facing the parking lot, was literally wet. The AC was malfunctioning and making a strange unnerving noise, and while the room was cool it was very humid. The sheets felt wet. In the morning we went out and returned to the pool deck for drinks and lunch. I had to retrieve my own towels again and he never returned for my lunch order or drinks. I asked a different server who got him over. Drinks were excellent, but the crispy chicken sandwiches (ordered without bun) were inedible. Dry is a gross understatement. The foreign national was charming but cultural or language issues made even ordering food burdensome. Overall, the pace is really shopworn and needs another renovation. Service was poor. Not worth the effort. Love the setting and Sag Harbor. Not the Barons Cove of a few years ago.. read more

Let's start with the bacon! If your bacon is FLAT it's going to be flavorless, probably made in an oven, definitely not worth a penny. Where are the bacon wrinkles, crinkles and waves? Immediately NO. Before I get into the other food let's talk about the presentation, the plating. Big white plate, looked as bland as the food. Big plate, medium size food. We hadn't been to Baron's Cove in years, and with the weather unseasonably warm, we thought, "Why not?". Things started off ok. We got a table outside, nice view, pleasant evening, the server was friendly. We each ordered the lobster gazpacho, my wife ordered the halibut for a main, and i had the "tuna frites". After a short wait, our main courses were brought to the table. We pointed out that we had not been served our appetizers yet, and the plates promptly disappeared. A few minutes later the server brought 2 spoons to the table next to ours, and a few minutes after that our gazpachos were served, sans spoons, which were eventually provided. We asked the server if they were going to bring the same mains back to our table, and we were assured that they would make new plates. The gazpacho was fine, tasty, if a bit too tomatoey, if that's a word. Within 3 minutes of our appetizers being cleared, however, our mains were served. The bottom of the plates were hot, as if they had been sitting on a plate warmer, and the seared tuna (they recommended it be rare) which is normally bright red inside was a dulled brownish purple, as if it had been sitting and cooking overtime. Clearly they did not make up new plates. The food itself was just ok. My wife's halibut was a bit dry from overcooking, and didn't have much taste. The accompanying sorrels and legumes were actually tastier than the fish. My tuna was similarly tasteless, if less chewy. There was no seasoning, and the reddish sauce it was served on was bland, not strong enough to make an impression on the fish. The French fries, however, were excellent. The highlight of the evening. We declined dessert, and when the server brought the check we informed her that we were disappointed in the reheated food. She said she would let the manager know, but no one ever came by to say anything. On the way out we mentioned it again to the other person who served our table, and she, too, was apologetic, but not surprised. As a final farewell, as we were leaving we heard a whole table of people telling them not to even bother bringing their food, they were leaving. Apparently we weren't the only ones having serving issues. If you want a nice view for drinks and French fries, i would take a shot. Anything else? I would look for another place to eat. read more

This hotel is amazing. All the locals we met on Main Street advised this is their favorite place to stay. We only had two nights here, but enjoyed every second. We took advantage of their complimentary coffee each morning. We loved walking every morning around the neighborhoods and downtown. Everything is so close by walking distance. We saw deer one morning in the neighborhood. We borrowed their bikes one morning and cycled around their parking lot. We thoroughly enjoyed their heated outdoor swimming pool. Two people from Ireland (Adam & Kitty) attended to us at the pool. They were terrific. Kristen, the front desk manager, was so friendly and accommodating. We've never met someone at a front desk having so much enthusiasm and great customer service. Kristen raised the bar. We can't wait to plan another eventual trip to come back again. The weather could not have been better. Even the WiFi at this hotel seemed to work well at this time of year! read more

Overall, my stay was pretty good. My main complaint is that I didn't have Wi-Fi in my room during my entire stay. I came to work on a deadline in a quiet place and let the receptionist know this. I had politely asked for the issue to be resolved all three days, and it wasn't. I took screenshots to show that the wifi wasn't working each day at all hours. I am not one to be rude or make demands, but Baron Cove also offered nothing to make up for it, so all I am left with is to leave a poor review. read more

I've stayed at Baron's Cove for a long weekend every spring for the last four years. This past April was my first bad experience. It was such a marked change from prior years that I really wanted to write in and make other travelers aware. The hotel has very minimal staff now. The front desk is rarely occupied by a human being and it is next to impossible to reach someone (no one is ever at the desk so there's no one to answer the phone either). I waited about 30 minutes without a soul in sight to check in and several hours later, waited another 30 minutes in a deserted lobby when I needed something. This was noticeable throughout the stay--the front desk is always unmanned. Additionally, the door to my room was left open by housekeeping twice accidentally. Plus, parking on site has become difficult and if you're able to reach staff for assistance, their only advice about it is "keep circling around" but they're unable to advise about the ticketing situation is you try to park out front. Overall, just a really unpleasant stay for the first time ever. It's just a really different vibe overall at Barons Cove. Almost like it's been bought out or something. I don't see myself coming back next year, and will start to explore other options in the area. read more

Summary of the items (we went for brunch): Egg sandwich: very greasy, overcooked bacon, served on a hamburger bun from King Kullen, and dry potatoes on the side Eggs Benedict: the "poached" egg was so overcooked it was essentially hard boiled - unreal Pancakes: descent Service: terrible. Restaurant was empty and it took forever to get served - we also asked for extra syrup three times and finally got it after the pancakes dried out. And get this - we asked for a roll for our baby - they gave us a stale dinner roll from the night before and charged us $3 for it!! Very disappointing experience. Finally made it to Barons Cove for dinner this week - something I was looking forward to for three years. It was extremely disappointing and embarrassing as I had out of town guests and had been so excited to take them there. It took 20 minutes to get our drink order, followed by 30 minutes for 1 appetizer, followed by 1 hour for our entrees which were simply the lobster roll and burgers. The servers were very nice but the delays made it a miserable experience so much so that patrons at one of the three tables that had diners left after their appetizers as they had been waiting for over two hours for their food. Unfortunately the lobster roll was equally disappointing - globs of mayonnaise and three small pieces of lobster. They were clearly understaffed in the kitchen and the servers apologized over and over - I felt badly for them. read more

Appalled is an understatement for the treatment I felt at Baron's Cove. It's very unfortunate in 2020 that all people are not treated equally. We were super excited to drive up to this beautiful establishment after working all week. It was at night, and you can see the boats on the water with a relaxing atmosphere. We walked in happily to check-in and the front desk attendant was not inviting at all. He did not welcome us or explain basic information about Baron's Cove. One would have to assume that he was not thrilled by our presence. This particular front desk helper could not properly suggest somewhere to grab a decent bite. He suggested 7-Eleven when we asked if there were restaurants or places to eat around the area (which there were several options at the time). Lastly, he did not describe the area, pool info, breakfast, beach, etc (what typically happens when you arrive at a hotel). It was really sad. Took the joy out of the entire experience. The suite we were in was beautiful but some of the sheets were a bit yellowish and stained. Did not feel that the suite was cleaned to the proper standards during this particular time. Thankfully, we made sure to bring our own sanitizer items. The treatment at this hotel was not 4-star hotel quality. I would never want to visit this place again where I am not treated like the other guests. We left after one night and went to a better hotel. read more

The pan fried bass sandwich satisfied my appetite for the rest of the day. I was craving fries with this entree. And the organic cheese platter was a very good starter. As a local resident of sag harbor and COVID-19 nurse I reserved a room here for a staycation. From prior experience, Baron's Cove and most establishments in Sag Harbor have always maintained a high standard of service. Today they fell significantly short of that standard. Our Check in was Thursday at 4pm and our room wasn't prepared until 6pm. An offer to hold our luggage was also not extended. We left for dinner and returned to our room to place another order and enjoy our patio (recommended room.) Unfortunately, we did not have a menu in our room and called to request one. After waiting an hour we walked to the restaurant to request one. The food was AMAZING! The mushrooms, lobster rolls, grilled oysters and sea bass should be the first thing you order if you have a menu in your room. After requesting a late check-out considering the late check-in that was not our fault. We attempted to reserve the room for another night (Friday) at the front desk, I expected a room to not be available. However, after being turned away and communicating with another guest we were told to contact a reservationist over the phone where we were then told several rooms were available. While we are a small group, another local (and guest) went to the front desk to inquire about extending her stay, unknown to the previous inquiry; she was told "Oh, you're the double room lady? No there are no rooms available." I'll let your perception of that comment sum up my review. While we have not yet resolved our issue and have been willing to pay for another night. I will say their COVID-19 precautions exceeded our expections. The front desks lack of customer service needs to be addressed. Room staff is phenomal. Overall great food but poor service. read more

We had dinner at Baron's Cove for our last night in Sag Harbor. We didn't stay at the resort, but wanted to try the restaurant since we heard there was a new chef. We booked a reservation 5 days prior via Resy and they require a credit card to book the reservation, so if you're not 100% sure you want to come here, I wouldn't recommend booking since there is a cancellation fee if you do not cancel within a 24 hour time frame from the reservation. We wanted a 7pm reservation, but couldn't book that, so we opted for a 6pm reservation. Check in was easy, but hostess wasn't that friendly. The restaurant itself was outdoors and we sat on the deck. Tables were following the socially distant guidelines and the servers all had masks on. Our server Akeen was fantastic. He was very friendly and welcoming. He told us the specials and his personal recommendations. He also took the time to read the notice on our reservation which was very nice to know he took the time to provide outstanding service. We started with Rose and calamari. Dinner choices were scallops and tilefish. Dessert was the blackberry crumble. Service 5/5 due to our server Akeen and his great demeanor and attention to detail. Food here was 3/5 - the tilefish was bland with no flavor. Calamari was average and the scallops were just okay. The blackberry crumble was nice, but nothing to rave about. Not sure who this "new chef" that all the workers are told to rave about is, but it was mediocre and we expected more from the food portion of the night. Ambiance 5/5 - scenery was beautiful and there was live music. It was very romantic and the heat lamps were perfect for a cooler September evening. Wanted to love this place, but not sure I'll return due to the food. read more

Yes this was a 5 Star experience. I had some business down the street so at lunch time we checked in here for lunch, or actually Brunch. We were directed upstairs to a restaurant with a view of the harbor. The testament was empty except for us. Our waiter brings water and explains the specials. I asked for iced tea, but our waiter tells me they don't have any just now but just give him a few minutes and he'll brew some. That is the way to treat a patron. He could have easily told me he didn't have any and left it at that. Bravo. My wife orders a salmon dish and I ordered the Baron's Burger. Burger was cooked perfectly. Oh I was offered cheese on the burger, not just cheese but a choice of three different cheeses. Also came with fries , lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. All on the side and left to me to put what I wanted. I like making that choice. My wife's salmon was excellent. I had a piece and found it to be also excellent. Decor was also very nice, " Old Colonial ", with a big wood burning fireplace. I highly recommend this restaurant. But remember this is January and very cold. I have to wonder how busy it will be in the summer with all the Hampton's crowds. I'm willing to take the chance and I suggest you do too. read more

Rancid. We stayed for the Labor Day weekend as a staycation as locals and heard decent things by others. The stench of mold and humidity was overbearing in our rooms. The hotel is dog friendly and it smelled disgusting in our friends room as our friends also had a room adjacent to ours. A warning for anyone looking for a stay in sag: be weary of barons cove Baron's Cove management should be absolutely ashamed of how they treat potential customers and guests. My father booked a room less than four weeks ago for a short stay and then 19 days before his visit he had a freak accident, broke his femur and part of his hip. While anyone can understand rules of a cancellation policy and we do, Baron's cove refused to offer the ability to fully cancel when we were 19 days out from the 2 night stay and their policy is 21 days. To not offer us the ability to cancel because we were not 21 days outside of his stay, with ample time to fill the room, is truly unkind and shows zero empathy. Definitely not the type of people I look for in the service industry. All potential customers should be aware and think carefully before booking anything here. I highly doubt they could have anything other than horrific service and treatment of guests. read more

I wanted to love it here. The scenery is nice. The decor is classy. The service, however, is subpar and a bit disorganized. During this COVID crisis I'd recommend people forget how things used to operate, and just operate efficiently. A busser should be able to accommodate all patron requests, specifically when they see that it's busy and patrons are waiting too long. Everyone should lend a hand to making the customer experience as pleasurable as possible. The food was ok. I don't recall feeling like anything was out-of-this-world, good. The drinks were slightly better, but for the price, they got something right. Kudos to the bartender who was super hospitable and useful. It's a sexy place for drinks, but don't expect quick service, at all. The room was very nice. Excellent sheets and towels. Nicely designed. Zero complaints. The lobby was nice. There was a great jazz guitarist playing solo one night. Happy hour drink prices were reasonable and the spicy Margarita was delicious. Service was ok. Do not eat dinner here, though. Overpriced and not really worth half of what is charged. We had the worst mushroom pappardelle we've ever had. No flavor. Just a glop of pasta dumped on the plate. Grilled pork chop was okay, but for almost $50, you should get more than okay. We wish we ate dinner at Sag Pizza where we could have had something really delicious for half the price. read more

This review is for the hotel. We recently stayed in the Baron's Suite and it was wonderful. The room was spacious and had a beautiful view. We had an issue with the sink but it was addressed very quickly. We got take out from The Lobster Roll to enjoy on the rooms deck and picnic table with some bottles of wine from Wölffer, which I highly recommend doing! The lobby is so charming and the cocktail bar is such a perfect meeting spot to start your night! The drinks were good and the staff were very personable. We have never stayed at the hotel but we have eaten at the Restaurant. My husband and I enjoyed it. I had the steamed oysters, then the scallops and both were excellent. My husband had the filet mignon, and the carrots on the side, both were excellent as well. The service was perfect. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. We've been there 3 times and loved every time. The views are beautiful. Mario and Sean who both are welcoming and very accommodating. We will be back soon.
