I wanted to give Selfridges 5 stars based on the merchandise, that alone deserves five stars. But this place is getting 1 star because of their pissant stafff. Why am I insulting their staff? Because they know absolutely NOTHING about customer service. Let me tell you about my experience. I went into Selfridges knowing exactly which 2 products I wanted. I did not plan on spending hours there, I wanted to make my purchase and leave. Upon entering, I went straight to the Gucci section, where I received a SHITTY attitude from the sales associate. Upon describing her the product I wanted, she asked me if I had a product number. Actually, NO, I don't. That is YOUR job. ANY time I have gone into a Gucci shop that isn't Selfridges, I have had my product located via something we call a COMPUTER and in fact, ORDERED for me if they weren't in stock. She then told me that they "Carried many products with those descriptions." Actually NO, it's a VERY specific bag within a line of bags. Upon being annoyed, I decided to nix any attempt to make that purchase, so I went on to make my second intended purchase. Now I live in a major city: Chicago, which has it's luxury shops on a major block called Michigan Avenue, and i have NEVER had to wait behind a "velvet" rope to enter a LV. Well, here, not only did I have to wait for over half an hour, and after that another half an hour just to have a sales associate speak to me. After waiting for ANOTHER half an hour, a sales associate finally became available and IGNORED me and went to help the couple behind me, when she saw me enter the store half an hour ago. It's probably because I have tattoos and they make a quick assumption about people and their lifestyles, which is absurd. Anyway, after dealing with a boring, personality-less sales associate I made my purchase. Not only did it take the sales associate about 15 minutes to get my purchase from the back, but the duster I received the handbag was dirty. If it took her that long to gather the purchase, wouldn't she notice? I mean, it's absurd. I'm sorry for ranting, but I rather pay MORE money to have it shipped to my house via their online shops and not deal with their sales associates. The only thing that I loved about Selfridges was not only the merchandise, but the amazing visual displays. Other than that: NOT WORTH IT. I hate shitty staff, and I hate sales associates who think because they work in the sales department of a high-end luxury company that they are allowed to feel above & beyond a customer. YOU ARE A SALES ASSOCIATE. read more
