However, the store itself is pretty disorganized the deserts seem to be everywhere and they don't really place similar items together. Also to leave the store you have to go back into the store. Tip: Come nearing closing times as the prices become severely marked off and everything becomes ridiculously cheap. Also their in store dessert brand are delicious and cheap! Overall, a definite must if you are here in London.

Canada had this chain for over twenty years before all locations shuttered for good in 1999. My go-to location was at Shoppers World on Danforth Avenue at Victoria Park Avenue. I still remember the last item that I bought at this store, which was a blue t-shirt. I visited London in December 2013. Out of all the flagship department stores that I wanted to go to, it was this M&S store on Oxford Street that had priority. I was staying at a hotel in South Kensington. I took the 74 bus to get to this store. I remember someone asking me where the bus stop was as I was heading over to it to take the bus to this store. I'm not sure why folks ask me for directions in a city that is new to me. It happens often. I felt accomplished that I knew something as a tourist! I remember how happy I was when I walked into this store. Hopefully, the floor plan and floors haven't changed since I was last there: - Lower ground floor - foodhall - Ground and first floors - women's clothing - Second floor - men's clothing - Third floor - homeware I don't recall being on the top floor. I could be wrong. I also don't know if the M&S Bank is still at this store. It was cool when I visited it, with comfy couches to relax. I spent some time in the men's clothing section. I bought a green cashmere sweater as a gift that was so soft to the touch. I loved the two floors full of women's clothing. I ended up getting socks that felt ridiculously soft that I had to have them. My spent the majority of my time in the foodhall. I hit the crisps section first. I got a few varieties of crisps: - Roast beef and onion - Roast chicken and garlic butter - Cheddar cheese and onion All of them were amazing. I am salivating thinking about them. So good! I also ended up getting biscuits (cookies). I got shortbread and white chocolate. They were amazing, likely due to the butter. I remember asking a woman at the checkout whether my Discover card was an acceptable payment option. It's also known as a Diner's Club card internationally. My Discover card that I've had since I lived in Minnesota worked here. Yay! I want to go back to this store. It has been renovated since I was last here. I'd like to check out the changes and get more food. (51)

They have a more than decent selection of higher quality men's and women's clothing at the usual Marks and Sparks prices (i.e., high). A sufficient number of tills ("cash registers" in American) and associates ready to help you pay for your purchases. There is also a small food hall with prepared sandwiches and drinks for the lunch crowd. It does a good job of taking in to account its very urban location, so it doesn't have some departments like children's clothing and housewares. It's more of a commercial neighborhood not very residential.

Good size department store, almost like a maze...? Not sure if it is due to an older building or done intentionally to make you walk the entire store (think Ikea). Or it could have just been me since they have a bar here and I got confused/lost my sense of direction... Service - Okay. I am always in favor of businesses with bars. My wife shops and I drink. If you were to add it all up retail, it would probably cost you about $8. The sandwiches are actually really good, my favorite was the chicken avacado with a pesto dressing. For sides i would either pick the crisps or if i want to be healthy then the carrots and hummus. I wish the carrots were crispy though, most of the times they were soggy and limp. This is a great on the go meal or something simple you can easily take back to your hotel if your trying to save a little money. You can enter the store two-ways through street level, one of them you enter through a box style store crowded with fashion and then a slow, small lift (or set of stairs) to get upstairs, again I can't understand why the lift is so low (there's only one) considering there is three levels the lift could go to - so if you are using the food hall I would suggest walking along the street and going in through there to save time. The selection of fresh selection in store was really bad, it was mainly pre-packaged which for a Marks & Spencer store was pretty dissapointing and uncommon for the brand, at many times it felt just like a Simply Food store. The "Services" offered by the store is also tiny, they lack a currency exchange, Cafe and more. The Food Hall area is also pretty cramped. It seems Islington has really badly fallen behind in terms of quality of stores with the only option being a Uniqlo store which is pretty good, yet still not spectacular compared to the rest of London. This store is pretty much the best of the three supermarkets in Islington centre from a food point of view and they did have a large sandwich selection (sadly gluten-free food excluded), to warrant a very generous two-star rating.

For the food that required cooking, they took those back and said that I could choose anything from their selection there and to replace it. Having saved my life (and my job) I hastily chose (rather prudently this time) selected items that were ready to serve and were worthy enough for corporate clients. The staff were just amazing, in particular Anthony and Elinor who helped me with where I needed to go, what selection I could opt for and facilitated and administered the exchanges accordingly. I cannot praise them enough and if I could, I would give them 10 out of 10. Excellent customer service. Thanks a million again.
