So when I moved into a new home recently and noticed hard water spots, there was only one guy I would trust to do the job right. Greg is passionate about clean water and knowledgable about the business, top to bottom and inside out. Mark arrived promptly, right on schedule for every appointment. There were several emails and calls to let me know exactly when he was en route and set to arrive. This is quite rare for any kind of delivery or repair service. I didn't have to wait around for two hours hoping to get on with my day which I appreciate. The softener and RO were installed the very next day after Mark came for the estimate. The installation was clean and professional and efficient. These guys really know what they're doing and they roll out the red carpet for their clients...seriously. There's a red carpet on the front steps to keep everything as neat and clean as possible. We needed a hole drilled in the quartz counters for the RO faucet and Mark and his team scheduled it for me with a company that also showed up that day and gave me some very helpful ideas on maintaining the countertops! Now on to the actual product. This water is amazing! The RO does not have any chemical taste that you might find in other systems. It simply tastes like delicious, clean water. And the softener is wonderful. The dishes are cleaner, the showers and tubs are cleaner, my skin and hair is softer, I could go on and on about how much I enjoy clean water. There is also the practical side of protecting and preserving plumbing and fixtures for many many years to come, so that we can get on with enjoying life instead of fixing broken plumbing. The products were installed to perfection. The tanks under the sink are clean and neat and the softener and plumbing are the same. Greg and the staff at AMI have gone the extra mile every step along the way of installing my new water system and I couldn't be happier with it or recommend them more highly. It was a pleasure doing business with them!

However, I was charged $129 for the service call and $425 for 30 minutes of work to replace five small rubber diaphragms. Curious about the cost, I compared pricing with other reputable companies in the area. I found that: Two don't charge a service fee at all One charges $49 (applied toward the work) Another charges a flat $38 One charges $129, but that includes the first hour of labor Also, the parts typically cost around $25 each--so about $125 total--meaning I was effectively charged $300 for a half hour of labor, which is unusually high. I wrote to the owner but got a reply from someone else who said they don't provide a breakdown of parts and labor. I requested a detailed receipt and never received it. I understand prices vary, but this felt out of step with market rates. My suggestion: always ask for a full cost estimate before signing anything, and if something doesn't seem fair, speak up.

Then I get a phone call stating that there is nothing wrong with the system and that I have a pending invoice that is overdue. I paid it the month prior for the leaky RO system and they tried to charge me the agreed amount with the service they never did. Ridiculous!
