The tech called and said it would be $850 plus $95 service fee so I called a friend who owns a company 150 miles away and said what should this cost to have my unit cleaned . He said $99-$175! ‍ So I put on Facebook any recommendations and got a one man show company that came and cleaned for $99 and no service charge fee. ‍‍‍ I do have to say when I called SOS to cancel my appointment to repair they waived the service charge fee after looking at my scenario so the company does have some good employees.

After cleaning the vents and dryer and full dryer troubleshooting, we contacted At Your Service Pros (kudos to the Costco-dispatched tech for noticing the extremely hot circuit breaker). At Your Service was very flexible on appointment times, and one of their techs, Kyle, came out to service the home. Kyle reproduced and diagnosed the issue to the circuit breaker. Not only did he fix the circuit breaker, but he also noticed some of the wiring needed to be placed at the service panel, which he did as well. He also checked the other breakers while he was out there and made sure the dryer outlet was okay. Lo and behold, the dryer works perfectly now. Thanks Kyle and At Your Service for getting this issue fixed and for taking a larger look at the panel to make sure things look okay. I appreciate Kyle was on time and that the service was professional and efficient.

I've reviewed Thompson's Comfort Connection (TCC) multiple times here over the 15+ years I've been…read moreon Yelp, and have always given them top ratings every time. And after a four-year period where everything has been running great, I had to have TCC come out again to check on my 17-year-old Amana high-efficiency furnace and the blower that brings in fresh air to the burners and exhausts combustion gases to an outside port along our front wall. That fan was running but cycling on and off, and we could smell some gas there at the exhaust exit panel outside. One quick email on Sunday, the 7th, and Austin from TCC arrived Monday morning to check out our issue. After disassembling our "inducer" motor/blower (a small fan in a gas furnace that creates a draft, pulling in fresh air for combustion and exhausting dangerous exhaust gases out through the flue) housing, Austin found the problem. After 17 years of use, the blower housing drain port was clogged (spider nest? dirt? both?) Austin cleaned it all out and flushed all the rubber drain tubes as well (which were also pretty gnarly), and that fixed it! All back together and running great...and the inducer blower now stays on and runs great. We're back in business on a solid 17-year-old Amana H.E. furnace! Five stars for prompt service response, fair pricing ($287 out the door), and a pleasant, professional, and communicative repair technician...Austin. Solidly recommend TCC, and ask for Austin if you can! Five Stars! P.S.: My neighbor across the street called me the next day and said that "...her furnace has just stopped working. Who would I recommend?" I didn't hesitate to recommend TCC...and they were there later that day. Their technician replaced their main furnace blower motor at a fair price. Two happy customers in three days.

The old furnace went out the day before Thanksgiving one year, and they had a new one installed and running the same day. I appreciate the employees who have provided good service over the years. In the beginning I referred friends to SH, saying they are not necessarily cheap but they do good work. (Looking back, I realize however that I overpaid for the new water heater and other some other major expenses, I was just naïve and didn't do due diligence. More about overcharging below.) That being said, I've given up on SH. Too often my encounters with its employees go wrong. The person they send may or may not have experience with my issue, and they never ask for help from other employes. One recommended I have a new air intake installed (he came twice and couldn't get rid of the awful noise) and when I finally got a different guy over, he fixed the whistling noise just by recaulking the area; it was gone in minutes. Another guy made excuses for the (unsupervised) people who ripped up large patches of drywall because they didn't know to go through an interior wall; SH paid for the extra drywall repairs, which I appreciated. Another guy freaked out about the "sewage" he imagined must be under the board beneath my sink (there was none). Another couldn't tolerate me saying that I had never had a leaky condensation pipe until they replaced the AC. My 10+ years in my home meant nothing, and this is consistent: many times the repairmen will not give credence to anything I say, and however neutrally I state it, react as if I'm challenging them in some way. The latest incident is the $1800 estimate for replacing my kitchen sink (labor only). The guy said it would take 2-3 hours to remove the old sink (!!) and added that he would "cap the pipes" so I wouldn't lose water to the rest of house. I mean, there's upselling and then there's just BS. The plumber I hired removed the old sink in 20 mins and is charging a few hundred dollars for the whole job (including installing the new one). And of course the water to the house didn't have to be shut off, there are valves right under the sink. I'm really appalled they would just...lie.
