Just like almost everyone else in these reviews we were very happy with the two jobs that Luiz and Neto Cardozo and their crews did at our home in Milpitas. Both jobs, one in the front yard and one in the back yard turned out much better than we had hoped. We had been searching for pavers and someone to install them for more than a year, we went to the distributors, like Garden Supply, Evergreen, and SiteOne in San Jose to choose a paver brand and type and had settled on the Basalite pavers, and in particular a new type from their catalog called Sierra Collection. We went to see the jobs from several contractors who had been referred to us and chose a contractor, met with him and paid more than we should have, since the contractor laws limit the initial payment to $1000. They came and demolished our walkway and driveway, leaving large pieces of concrete in the driveway. When they came to remove the large concrete pieces by hand I complained and offered to rent a Bobcat for them, but they refused, and drove away, leaving our driveway covered with impassible giant concrete pieces. We interviewed a few more contractors, and finally in desperation drove to the Basalite plant in Tracy for advice. Basalite referred us to Select Pavers and very soon Luiz showed up and gave us an estimate. In a matter of days the crew came with their Bobcat, dump truck, removed the broken concrete, and had delivered the pavers. The crew knew what they were doing, installed ten to twelve inches of base material in the driveway, compacted it with a 4 ton roller compactor, not just a hand operated one, and installed the pavers in the pattern we had requested. It was impressive. My wife asked for a short wall for a flower garden and on the edges of the driveway and walkways. They installed them with matching pavers on the side of the one foot walls, and capped them with contrasting bullnose pieces. We enjoyed getting to know Neto and the crews, and tried to lighten their load with softdrinks and muffins in the middle of the hot days. Without exaggeration, they did an excellent job. Since they had done such a good job, we subsequently asked them to install walkways, entrances to our shed, and similar short walls in the backyard. After some delays because of the rain, they came back and did the installation in the back yard which was just as good as the front yard. Our home has been transformed. Several times neighbors have stopped by to compliment the job and ask us about it. We certainly recommend Select Pavers, Luiz and Neto, and their crew members. Thanks for a very good job! read more

My wife and I purchased a brand new manufactured home in September, 2018. All of the space surrounding the home was covered with wood chips. We hated them! However all of the neighborhood animals, both wild and domesticated, loved them. They saw our lot as a giant litter box. We were constantly cleaning up the mess they left behind. After just a few months of this we decided something had to be done. We had heard various paver company ads on the radio. We did a little research and were pleased with what we learned. We were then led to Select Pavers since they were close by. I first met Luiz and Ciara when they came to prepare an estimate. As soon as we sat down around my table, I knew I wanted to work with them. They were so courteous, friendly, personable, knowledgeable, professional and helpful in guiding me to a decision; I could not have been more impressed. Luiz's brother Neto also played a key role in bringing our project to fruition. He and Luiz kept me informed every step along the way. They were very patient with me and answered any questions I had as the project progressed. I was very impressed with how they were able to explain things so that a layman like I could understand. The entire crew was wonderful. What a hard working bunch of guys! They were all very respectful in all my interactions with them and they did beautiful work. I learned today from my park administrator that she had gotten several calls from other residents wondering what was going on at my place. They all were very interested. I've already gotten several compliments from neighbors about how beautiful my space looks. I hope others decide to go this route. I can offer them my highest recommendation and endorsement. I'm a careful consumer and seldom give rave reviews, but I've got to say, working with Select Pavers is the best experience I've ever had with a contractor. Certainly the end result was beautiful--even better than I had hoped for--but the real surprise was how easy Neto and his crew made the process. I'd gotten two other bids from bigger, more widely advertized companies that had writeups in the area's Diamond Certified Directory. They both sent "project managers" to hear what I wanted and give me an estimate; one of them promised me 2018 prices, which he said were 20% lower than current 2019 numbers. These guys were clearly salesmen, not hands-on types, which gave me pause. When I talked with Neto from Select Pavers, it was immediately clear that he would be the one who would be running things on-site. He asked detailed questions, made some suggestions, and gave me an estimate (with better specs) that was lower than the big companies' bids, even considering their promised 20% discount. Moving back and forth from the big picture to the smallest detail, Neto would update me on what the next steps were, how he was going to do them, and why. The work itself was top quality--no shortcuts, no fudging, no "unexpected problem" add-on charges. Neto's focus was to make the end result as perfect as possible while keeping me informed and confident that the project was in the best of hands. When dealing with the uncertainties of a big project, this confidence is the most valuable thing a contractor can provide. I couldn't recommend Select Pavers more highly. read more

When we decided to add a path and retaining wall to our backyard, we researched on Yelp and Nextdoor to find a good company to do the job. While we had 3 companies quote the project, Select Pavers was the clear winner. Not just because of the fair price, but because they understood our vision and were very easy to communicate and brainstorm with. Luiz was very easy to work with and gave us a lot of good design ideas. He took the time to get to know our vision and helped translate that into a real plan that could be built. The quote and drawing were both clear and detailed. Ciara (who is the real boss, I think) was great at communicating schedules (and payments, of course :-) Luiz met us at the paving store and walked us through all the options and gave us the pros and cons of each. We are very happy with our selection! Luiz' brother, Neto, directed the project and was onsite each day. He set up a text-group with all the key members of the team so that they could communicate start times, rain delays, and deliveries to us. Their crew was amazing. Hard working and very conscientious of our property. Fine-tuning of the project with Neto was very easy and we were able to brainstorm through several options to make it all even better. After many years of battling with the weeds, fox-tails, and those "damned" gopher holes, we, finally, decided to make our backyard usable and beautiful. At our ripe old age, we can no longer kneel down to pull the weeds or take our shovels to pound on the gopher holes. The weeds and gopher holes were a sore sight. After looking at our friend's paved backyard by Select Pavers, we decided to have our backyard paved. The project has been completed for a few months. We are happy with the outcome. The paving made our backyard look much bigger than before. We worked with Luiz from Select Pavers to redo our backyard in Fremont. He's super friendly, upfront about things, and doesn't try to sell you things you don't want or need. The difference with the other paver we talked to was that Luiz comes by himself, he doesn't send a sales person. They were more than happy to reuse parts of the planters to reduce cost and avoid unnecessary work, we never felt pressured to do things differently I any way. The quote came in significantly lower than the other quote we asked for ($50k vs. $80k) and they delivered everything exactly as agreed upon. His team worked fast and the result is of great quality. Luiz and his brother Neto were always reachable by text message. One thing to note here is that Select Pavers has everything in-house, they don't outsource parts of it to other paver companies like some of the bigger names do. Throughout the entire project we had one single point of contact which really made for a great experience. I noticed our neighbors were having some pavers installed and saw the Select Pavers truck. I called the number and Ciara set me up with a appointment with Luiz the very next day to quote on installing a patio with paver stones in our front yard. I met with Luiz the next day and he advised me on different paver options and designs. He gave me a great quote and was able to schedule the job to start in a week and have it completed in 2 days. Ciara provided me with email updates, paver selection information and billing status updates and was kind enough to drop off a sample piece of the paver stone before the job was started. We had a great experience with Select Pavers from proposal to sign off. Not only was their pricing competitive, but they handled the whole project very professionally, kept us informed along the way, and reached out several times to make sure we were completely satisfied. While we hadn't requested it up front, Select Pavers suggested new designs where it made sense. We now have a beautiful circular pattern in one of our garden areas, and it added a nice feel as well as value to our outside and the surroundings. The job required the removal of existing asphalt and pressurized wood. All debris was removed and any tracks from equipment were gone when they were done.
