Stopped by this past Sunday on a whim. We were driving by and my boyfriend said he had noticed it on his way to work so we decided to check it out. Didn't realize it was brand new til I looked at their website today. Great place. The guys were really helpful and they have an awesome selection. Like really, really good. Think the global expansiveness of bevmo minus "big beer" and gratuitous fake "craft" brands (blue moon, shock top, etc.) with great selections from many california-based and smaller international breweries. And the guys are really helpful. We took a couple bottles to go (meantime IPA and rare vos amber-- both delish), but they have tables and chairs for you to sit and enjoy your drink with a $1.50 corkage fee for bottles-- they also have beers on tap, of course, but we weren't planning on staying so we passed on those. The environment is nice-- kind of darker with a plain floor, light wood on the bar, stainless (aluminum?) tables/chairs with the beer meticulously organized in their tall glass-doored fridges. Points for this, especially. It makes it easy to find what you're looking for-- six packs, individual bottles, large bottles, even corked bottles. And for those who don't like beer, I did notice there's a section with cider and what I believe was non-alcoholic ginger beer. There's also a small gift shop-type of area with bottles and merchandise. All in all, really cool place. Great selection, good people, awesome local business. I love this place. I've been here three times and enjoy the wide selections they have. Best part is; they have really good samplers for beer starters. The craft beers are delightful and the staff are very friendly. There are a lot of tables and a nice bar. The environment is open and don't expect a sport bar with TVs all over the place. The parking is a little small, but there are plenty of street parking and a lot at the back. The back parking are bigger. They also have seasonal selections of beers, which I like and they offer them as samplers at the bar. Overall, my experience and expectations are very good. I would come back again. read more

This is our local to-go spot. I have only lived in Redondo for a little over a year from Culver City where we had lots of cool bars. I never thought I'd find anything I would enjoy as much here in the South Bay but alas Select Beer Store! I love coming in and having Chris greet us with a big smile! This is one of my happy places! The selection of great craft beers is expansive. The servers are very knowledgeable and courteous. The clientele is diverse and not the bunch of drunks that you find at your local sports bar. There are NO TVs which allows for conversation without shouting to be heard. Because this is not just a bar, you can take home single bottles of beers that you like. The selections on tap are excellent. The hand-drawn signs above the taps are wonderful. No food is offered, but they are open to you bringing in your own food. Relax at a table with friends or make new friends at the bar. I can picture myself playing backgammon with a friend here. Since I live in upstate NY, I can't speak for the selection in other Los Angeles stores. I can say, however, that this place has an interesting selection ranging from local craft breweries through British and German standards to plenty of Belgian doubles, triples, and sours. The proprietor knows plenty about beer, and is more than willing to give you a sample of what he has on tap if you're stuck while making a decision. Also, make sure to ask him what he has in the back, because they seem to get new beer in all the time. Great place and nice ambiance, too! read more

A nice place to spend a lunch; you can bring your own food, since they are in the Riviera Village there are plenty of choices for outside food close, many within walking distance. This place is great and it was sorely needed in Redondo. This is my local pretty much every Friday afternoon and I always enjoy the literally hundreds of great beers they have (10 or so on tap, the rest bottles/cans). It's easily the coolest place in South Redondo, I just wish it stayed open later! They don't serve food, BUT you can bring in whatever you want. The mexican restaurant next door delivers food to drinkers here, so it's actually very convenient. There also a vietnamese restaurant next door that delivers too. If you're in the area and you want to pick up some beer to go, I'd say this place is 4 stars. Decent selection of both refrigerated bottles and bottles on the shelf. The staff is also very friendly, but I popped in during a busy time and got poured the wrong beer. I drank it anyway, because it was good and I don't like wasting. Really, wasn't what I asked for though, and you should get what you paid for. I think it's just because they were overwhelmed. I do like this place, just not when it's packed. The rich entitled douche-bags come down off the hill and the hipsters pour in from whereeverthehell and before you know it you're neck high in snobbery and skin tight jeans. Last time I was there some jackass in tight jeans and a mop of unwashed hair pulled his pants down and I was subjected to an unwanted eyeful of man butt. The selection on draft is respectable and generally quality. All in all, it's worth a stop. But, I recommend you stop in mid-day, mid-week. read more

This is my favorite place to have a beer in the South Bay. It has a great selection of brews. I recommend their tasters as a great way to sample their beers on tap. The staff is awesome. This is my go-to place in south-south bay. Great selection of beers on tap, bottles, and a real fun crew. Clearly lot of regulars drop in so the place has a great vibe. Easy to grab a couple pints and strike up great conversations. We come here just for a drink, or while waiting for a table next door. Do not serve food but you can bring it in, which is great. The one star omission - cannot bring kids in just to sit with us when in the village for dinner, which is a real constraint sometime. If only they served some food and were licensed as such...! Redondo Beach craft beer haven. Incredible rotating selection on tap. Or you can buy a Pliny, Blind Pig, or Heady Topper that's regularly stocked on the shelves! This place is five stars in every aspect! BEER, BEER, and more BEER!!! Who could ask for anything more? Well how bout extensive knowledge of said beer doled out by the owners and the ability to sip on beer while learning about the beer. Wes and Heather(the owners) are some of the most down to Earth proprieters/beer lovers I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. From the moment I walked in there I knew this was my kinda place. They welcomed me in and my love affair with the joint began. They have about a dozen beers on tap that change periodically. My current favorite is the Smog City Stout($7pint). It's thee Best coffee beer ever(IMO). It smells exactly like a fresh cup of espresso, but it's BEER! Truly the best of both worlds. Unfortunately this one isn't available in bottles yet. Damn!!! There is an extensive selection of bottled beers available which you can also open in-store and drink for a cappage fee of $1.25 per brew. There is a small bar with a few seats as well as a couple tables that you can chill at after making your selections and sip a brew. They don't serve food but they have no problem with people bringing food in from elsewhere. There are plenty of surrounding spots where you can order from. I was truly impressed with both Wes and Heathers beer knowledge. But then again I would expect nothing less from owners of a store this caliber. Enough talk about it, I'm going to get a beer!!!
