While there are plenty of major outlets for wine within the beach cities, I'd recommend this store for their wine selection and how they display their best wines. Now...they have a really impressive selection of whiskey, wine, beer and more! I can only really talk to the bourbon side of things so I'll start with that. Like I said before they have a great selection but it's more a museum than anything. The reason they have such nice hard to find bottles in stock is their pricing is astronomically high! I get that there is a secondary market and I pay secondary for many of my bottles. But there is a pretty common secondary market price for most bottles and Corked almost doubles what is commonly found in other stores. I bourbon hunted all the time and have found their store to be one of the worst culprits of excessive pricing. Other than that the staff was very kind and helpful with explaining their bourbon offerings and the profiles for a lot of what they offer there. The store is very well kept, organized and nice looking on the inside. But do yourself a favor...unless you're desperately looking for a bottle and absolutely can't find it anywhere else don't purchase anything allocated here unless you're willing to pay 4x-6x MSRP and 2x secondary market pricing. read more

In fact, it's really bright, clean, well-organized with a stylish decor (interior and exterior). Such a bummer as I used to love this place. Went recently to pick up a single barrel bourbon pick that West Coast Whiskey Club had done, but wasn't aware the Long Beach location ownership split off from this one (guess they did it quietly vs. announcing to their customers.) Owner sold me a bottle claiming it was the exact same as the Long Beach location's only to find out it was indeed his own (different) pick after the fact. Would not accept my return despite knowingly lying about the sale and unfortunately, lost me and and a number of my bourbon drinking friends as customers. While they do have a great selection, they are severely overpriced for all allocated bottles which you can now find at costco and grocery stores, total wine and bevmo for far less more often. All the owner had to do was admit he swindled me, take the bottle back and he would have had myself and at least 10 other customers coming back for more. Go elsewhere to a shop that has more honesty and integrity. If you want every day run of the mill stuff, they've got a great selection for decent prices (not great, but not terrible.) read more

This is hands-down the best liquor store on the planet. Selection is ridiculous, and the prices are even more ridiculously low. They get some of the coolest whiskeys available, and they sell them for an absurdly low price. Blantons goes for 200 bucks a bottle nowadays everywhere, and these guys had a deal for a bottle of Blantons, a bottle of buffalo trace, a bottle of Sazerac rye, and a bottle of Wheatley vodka for $150 total. If you follow their IG, they post these sorts of stupid deals all the time. Definitely worth the follow... Although, maybe don't follow them and you won't spend all your money on booze. read more

After visiting several different places looking for Dwayne Johnson's Teremana tequila, I was able to locate a couple of bottles at Corked. The owner was nice and friendly and even have me rid bits about the making of the tequila. The place was very clean and organized. Definitely a go to spot if you are looking for hard liquor or wine. Corked is no longer "A-1" in name, price, or customer service! The cashier never even looked up from his phone or said hi for the entire 20+ minutes we were in the store. He didn't seem like he'd seen the bottom of any bottle other than some cheap beer, either. He made no notice of our attention to the rare whiskeys in the case, or the shelves of high end bourbons and scotch, which always garnered us attention in the past. But then, we saw what was truly appalling. You have 10+ cases of hard-to-find Blanton's Bourbon -- more than any other local store gets -- and you're charging double MSRP at $110? And your other limited releases, such as Michter's and High West, are double MSRP, even when Gelson's, Vons, Total Wine & Lazy Acres (all within a 5-minute drive) sell these at less than half the price? Do you care at all about customer and community loyalty? But when we go to leave without spending a dime, the blasé cashier finally makes a sarcastic comment? Uhhh...no thanks. Very disappointing experience today. I went in to buy a special (read: expensive) bottle of scotch whiskey as a gift. The store clerk didn't even look up when I walked in and stayed glued to the game on his phone the entire time. Volume full blast, mind you. When I asked for assistance, he asked a few clarifying questions, game still on, eyes continuing to look down every few seconds, and ultimately ended the conversation with: you don't know the difference?! (Between bourbon rye and scotch whisky). For the record, no I don't and I was I hoping you'd help me make a decision on a $200-300 bottle. Not going to happen there now. Would love other recommendations for a high end scotch purchase if anyone has one. read more

I had just finished surfing, had my surfboard on the roof of my car and was looking for a place to pay my Daily 4 numbers while at the same time be able to keep eyes on my vehicle at the same time. I must have passed this place 100's of times and never stopped. I was driving by when I got the urge to play my Daily 4 numbers. Part of the reason I decide to stop here was the parking lot was empty, I could get in & out and on my way quickly. I checked-in using the Yelp application on my Iphone and was pleasantly surprised to get a check-in offer of 5% - 10% off your total purchase for simply checking-in. I could not use this on the Lottery but it is always nice to know because saving money is saving money. I was shocked at how large this place was. I t was not only a liquor store but a small convenient store that stocked everything from greeting cards to laundry detergent. I am not a drinker so I did not pay too much attention to their liquor selection but it looked quite large. If and when I am in the area and feel the urge to play my numbers I would stop here again. Came in on my hunt for Pappy Van Winkle and Old Rip Van Winkle, and I found it. But it felt outrageously hot inside like a sauna. It didn't help that I also felt extremely unwelcome inside, because the guy working there suspiciously looked at me like I was some sort of criminal. Further, it looked like they were selling Pappy for almost triple the retail price. And don't even get me started on what they were selling Old Van Winkle and Suntory for. I also looked at some of their other whiskeys, and I felt prices were higher than Total Wine and BevMo. I would definitely go somewhere else to find what you need. I've just recently been getting into the craft beer scene and I've been hitting up Number One quite frequently. They have a great selection on these beers. SO many I've never heard of, some rare, some hard to get and some really pricey stuff. Some of the stuff that I haven't liked have been Bitch's Brew and Simtra. Some of the ones that I have loved have been Pliny, Enjoy Boy and of course Supplication. Although most of the ones I liked always have a bottle limit. Keep up the good work Number One! Will I again? The craft beer selection here is RIDICULOUS. You wouldn't know it from the name of the store, which to me suggests a grumpy person behind the counter selling cigarettes and Lotto tickets in a store full of bags of chips and Dinty Moore microwaveable meals. However, when you go in, you'll immediately see a plethora of wines. Sorry I can't speak to the wine selection, though, because I made a beeline for the huge walk-in fridge filled with an amazing array of craft beer. I saw the oak-aged St Bernardus Abt 12, which I've heard about and have wanted to try, but I'd never actually found it before. I also saw a variety of great sours from Cascade and barrel-aged brews from Fifty-fifty, which are hard to find. The prices here are average, but that's fine considering the selection. read more

Five STARS TO A LIQUOR STORE? I know it sounds crazy but this is the best liquor store I have ever been too. Yes is has a decent selection of liquor, wine and beer but that is not what makes this place great. It is the people that work there. The first time you visit you are treated like an old friend. You end up in long conversation about anything and often people allow you to go ahead of them just because they want to hang out and chat with them. Not a bad spot to hit up for craft beer. They've got about 12 coolers dedicated to craft brews, much more than your typical neighborhood liquor store. Most of the usual suspects were present: Stone, Deschutes, Anchor, Rogue, Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, Bear Republic, Alesmith, Victory, etc. I wasn't looking closely at imports, but I think there were a decent number of Belgians and Germans. Pricing was pretty standard if not a touch lower. Now that I know where they are, I'll probably stop in whenever I'm in the neighborhood. read more

I am a bourbon snob and this place exceeded expectation. Only place in Los Angeles county I have seen any Pappy Van Winkle, more Eagle Rare than you can shake a stick at, and about 20 other brands in house there as well. The craft beer selection is top notch as well. A walk-in build your own six pack cooler with top notch IPAs, multiple other six packs and tall boy sized craft brews as well. Decent cigar room, too. Hell, for any corner liquor store to have a cigar room is impressive to me. Also, the decor is quite nice and the store is clean. Looks brand new. Rude. Came in here to get a couple of beers. I asked if they had "Ruinnation". The dude just ignores me and his buddy who was standing there calls his name and he answers him "no". Such wonderful customer service ... also I'm pretty sure I wasn't tender the right amount... The total was about 21 something dollars and I gave him 50 and I got 21 something back. I was really uncomfortable so I didn't notice until I left (stupid on my part). I'm hoping it was tax, but would tax for beer be about 7 dollars? I came in here to buy a couple of gifts for some friends. I we really happy with this place for a few reasons. First of all, the staff here is awesome. The guy that was working was super friendly and helpful. I was looking for a nice tequila and a nice sake, and he totally schooled me on tequila. I'm not a huge drinker, but I wanted to make sure I was getting nice quality gifts for our friends. The shop is small, but they have a nice selection of good booze. It's not crowded with bottom-shelf booze. The guy who was working was also really sweet. One of his regulars walked in with his pup, and he was playing with the puppy. It's a true neighborhood shop and it has a dope wine cellar too! I didn't venture in there, but I may someday. read more
