Chicken Cesar salad?
Karen R.

Worst salad ever. Sliced dry chicken that tastes like dry turkey. Not seasoned at all. The tiniest dressing in the world and browning lettuce. I was so disappointed.

Perfect for an early morning breakfast and quiet place to sit. I ordered the açaí bowl not knowing what to expect. I was interested in it because it was advertised with local honey and fruit, and I always look forward to trying local food. As pictured below, the açaí bowl had a good amount of fruit, granola, coconut, and honey, along with some chia seeds. When I went fairly early in the morning, it was quiet and had fast service.

Food and drinks are delicious. Got the chocolate vegan cupcake, to start. OMG so good!!! Then we order two breakfast's. Waffles and avocado mash. Again, so good!!! Staff was friendly and restaurant was bright and refreshing.

We were driving through looking for healthy (and delicious) breakfast and coffee options that were also gluten free. It felt like we hit the jackpot with Selah! Our breakfast sandwiches (gluten and non-gluten) were scrumptious, broad selection for both food and drink, awesome service too. Would recommend calling ahead/pre-ordering. We walked in and ordered and waited a good 15-17 mins. But worth it!

The staffs were a little busy side but they were friendly. The Horchata drink was really tasty. I like that they offer small portion options with lower price tag.

Best cafe in Waterville! Only downside is that the wait can be pretty long when busy.

Amazing place to eat and to have coffee and tea . Service was awesome . Atmosphere was nice . Only problem is that we are from out of town and we can't take the restaurant back home with us ...

This cafe is my go-to cafe whenever I want casual, breakfast. Their Foods are delicious. Staffs are very friendly and great location in downtown Waterville. Overall the atmosphere of the cafe is relaxing. I would highly recommend this place if you are trying to find a place to get some work done and grab food. They have good choice of relaxing music in the background and You can bring your laptop, grab some tea/coffee, little snack/food and work!

What a find! Seven varieties of green tea to choose from; I had the Long Island Strawberry & it was delightfully light & flavorful. Hubby & I couldn't pass up getting 2 delicious freshly baked cookies. We ended up with some loose tea & 2 unique gifts from their dazzling array of choices. A must do when in Waterville!

Great ambiance and Yummy salads & sandwiches. I also love their teas. Total jem in Waterville among some other dingy-looking places.

Amazing waffles, smoothies and fun vibe! Only thing that would make it better would be if they added açaí bowls!

We came back this year and as always the food was amazing. Started off with crab cakes for the table delicious bites of tender crab meat and the salad/slaw that comes with it was so good. I ended up gettin the mussels and scallop entree which paired together so well with the savory grits they come with. We also go the Tuna and Halibut specials and the steak frites which is always delicious. Amazing food as always. And our server Mark was super personable and fun we had a great time. We love coming to Franny's and will be back next year. Thanks for the great food and memories!

Exceptionally curated menu highlight classics like steak frites, comforts like shrimp and grits, and of course seasonal and local favorites like shrimp linguine, scallops and mussels. We got the Franny Bistro salad which was generously portioned: they did not skimp on the feta, bacon, or ripped/toasted focaccia. Husband got the ribs and slaw. Ribs were extremely tender and the Hoisin glaze was so savoury. I got the shrimp and grits, with good ratio of jumbo shrimp to sausage. The cheddar grits were perfectly done. Impressively personable service. We celebrated our anniversary and all three staff (host, primary waitress and food runner) all congratulated us. I think there were two primary servers and two runners that evening, but they were effortlessly moving about the room. I was very pleased with the timing of dishes and never felt like we were waiting or not being 'attended' to. Bonus: my husband and I were amongst the last patrons in the restaurant as it closed for the evening and got to meet Franny!

I had a smash burger (special) which was a bit too much -- needed one fewer item from the rich salty umami family of flavors, every bite good on its own but a LOT as a dish. Service was wonderful; my friend mentioned that she loved chocolate mousse but was too full for dessert, and our server brought us a to go portion as a bonus with the check. And it was awesome (topped with hazelnuts, sea salt, and a drizzle of olive oil, very good idea well executed).

**November 2025: Thanksgiving Dinner**…read more I made a reservation through Resy about a week before Thanksgiving and was able to successfully secure bar seating for two. We got a text reminder as well as phone call reminder leading up to our reservation. On the day of our reservation we were greeted with a warm smiled and directed to our seats. Since we visited on Thanksgiving Day it was a prix fix menu which included the following: -Bread and Turkey Jam -Winter Squash Soup -Chicory & Arugula Salad -Roasted Turkey Breast -Braised Short Ribs -Ilma's Maple Bourbon Pie -Pumpkin Budin This menu was specifically made for Thanksgiving so I imagine guests who have to wait until the next Thanksgiving to enjoy the fare. What I can say is that the soup was my favorite and the turkey breast was not in the slightest dry. The short ribs were my friends favorite and we both loved the pumpkin budin. Service was polite and efficient and te music was upbeat and lively, despite the restaurant emiting a dark romantic vibe. I'm really thankful that they had reservations available and that the food was delicious since many restaurants in the area were already booked out. Thank you Wayside Tavern for a delicious meal!

The only thing holding me back is the crazy wait time on a not so busy Sunday, for the food to be served. Like over an hour wait time for a sandwich and fried fish special. But I digress...on to the good! The fried fish was outstanding! There was a very large amount of flaky fresh haddock that had the perfect coating and was not greasy at all. I would say - some of the best I've had! I opted for the side salad instead of the fries. I'll not make that mistake again. Don't get me wrong, the salad was fresh and very nice...but those fries that came with the Reuben were excellent! I'm not sure, maybe hand cut? They had a great seasoning on them and were so crispy with a soft center. If they are from frozen- I want the company name to figure out where to get some for myself! My husband enjoyed his Reuben as well. Oh, and bonus was that they had my favorite hard cider - freedom's edge, sweet mulled, as well WHICH they served in a chilled glass. Love it! We will definitely be back, but not when we're super hungry or in a hurry to get either upta camp or home. I get things run slower in that neck of the woods, but moving things along in the kitchen a little faster would do wonders for those passing through!
