Renarda's Kitchen is a local hangout for older folk in the morning, everyone was enjoying a hearty breakfast and conversation when I walked in just after 7am. I ordered a bacon, egg & cheese on a croissant and a sausage & cheese omelette w/ home fries and rye toast. Egg sandwich & omelette were tasty, but the homes fries were kinda blah, to be honest. Needed seasoning. Renarda seems to be a one person show (at least in the morning), she was working hard preparing everyone's meals. It's definitely a local "Greasy Spoon" and unpretentious. It took a concert at the Maine Savings Amphitheater to get me to head north, and I am SO glad I did! We got a booth pretty quickly, and even though we were both recommended (several) times to go with the breakfast menu, we ended up ordering one hot open-face turkey sandwich and a pot roast dinner. The turkey sandwich was fantastic, plentiful, and smothered in gravy. I also requested extra cranberry sauce (always), which was perfect. The pot roast dinner started with the most excellent dinner rolls, fresh and warm, then moved to a giant portion of pot roast with gravy, real mashed potatoes, and a side of peas (also perfect). We would have stayed longer and ordered more, but it was time to go, and we were stuffed. Next time.

I managed to eat 3/4 of it & took the rest back to our B&B for later. We also had a side of awesome onion rings. If you've never been go eat & enjoy Maine cooking & hospitality. A factoid: They serve over 55,000 pieces of pie a year. Off to Whitehall B&B to rest up, go sightseeing & have an extraordinary dinner the night before our 37th anniversary.
