Selah Restaurant is a gem in our community. We ordered carry out. We had the gnocchi and Selah Chicken, plus the the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer. It was delicious and they paid a lot of care to how they packaged it for carry out. I didn't expect the bread and tapenade as a side. How fantastic. This hidden gem is nestled in the metro Youngstown area. I was visiting my boyfriend and stopped by here to check it out. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The management is vey hospitable too. The food is amazing here! The interior looks like it was once an old bank from the early 20th century. You can even eat inside the old bank vault which is pretty cool. Upstairs is an area for small banquets and they even have a stage for theatre performances too. I would definitely love to come back and experience more of their menu. read more

With an elegant 1920's vibe, attention to detail is the key design element to this historic bank renovation turned into a classy eatery. Everything from the music to the black and white tile floors and ambient lighting set the tone for a perfect place to eat, drink, and chat. This is certainly a hidden gem that often gets overlooked because of Donavito's across the train tracks. I originally went there for lunch with my boss when we had a stressful day, and we ended up making that our 'go to' for any sort of events/parties for our organization. For starters, the building is SO cool! It was the old First Federal bank and they left the old vault/vault door, teller windows (the brass bars) and left the bricks bare, too. It sort of looks like a 'de-constructed' building on the inside: all of the old copper pipes are showing and the cherry wood is beautiful, as are the old light fixtures. It's just a really nice place with a good feel to it. The food here is delicious: from the soups and the bakery to their breakfast, lunch and dinner menu. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Some of my favorite dishes are the Asiago Alfredo with spinach (and chicken), the Feta Tomato burger, the Tuscan flat (oh soooooo good), the Penne ala Vodka sauce is super good...I could go on and on and on. It's just SO good! The other thing that's wonderful about this restaurant is how involved they are with local nonprofs and how supportive they are of the local arts. I really enjoy this place. I just wish it had a bar to relax in prior to dinner. Once the weather breaks it might be possible to sit outside for awhile first. Until then we'll have a drink across the street first. We had a great meal last week, I had the special which was a lamb ragout over a blanket pasta, my girl had the chicken with portobellos, feta and spinich which was very good also. Service is a little rough around the edges but I don't think it's due to a lack of caring. More one of training and experience. It is in Struthers I had to remind myself, only a few places striving for this kind of food and atmosphere within 25 miles. The effort is there. Prices are good, especially if you're familiar with prices outside of the Youngstown area. The building and atmosphere certainly make you feel that you have traveled to another city for dinner and that is a good thing now and then. read more

We were visiting from Southern California to celebrate a cousin's birthday and stumbled across Selah. This place is amazing with outstanding food. This is definitely one of THE best restaurants in the Youngstown area. It's built in what used to be an old bank, and they have kept much of the interior. The teller windows - the old fashioned type with bars - serve and a divider between 2 sections of the restaurant. And in the vault is a table where a larger group can gather, surrounded by old safety deposit boxes! Upstairs are several areas for parties, showers and other gatherings. The food is...well...amazing! No matter what your taste, you're sure to find something on the menu that is perfect for you. I'm a vegetarian and always have a difficult time making up my mind, because there are so many wonderful choices! They make their own bread, so all the sandwiches, wraps, and pockets are fresh. I had heard that the food was phenomenal, and I had even bought gift cards for others, but my first experience was not until this past weekend, which happened to be Valentine's Day weekend. Although they were understandably busy, the service was still good, and the Bourbon steak was prepared perfectly. Idk what the fuss about this place was the portions were small I got the smoked chicken ravioli and it had no flavor and hardly anything there plus they charged me a 3.25 up charge to get soup instead of a salad and the soup was only a small cup. Have to say that I absolutely love love love this little restaurant tucked away in the heart of Struthers! Their food is simply amazing, full of taste and crafted to the customers specifications. Had their gnocchi the other day and I can honestly say it's probably the best I've had anywhere. Their desert selection is great, I highly recommend the carrot cake. The staff is friendly and a lot of the times the owner is on site and is the nicest guy! The restaurants decorations are great and are nice to look at while having a meal. A unique and wonderful dining experience in Struthers, Ohio. The restaurant's located in the old Bank building on brigade Street, and you can still notice the teller windows and back vault, which add to the ambiance of the place. The service was great and the staff are always polite. The food is somewhat slow in arriving, but I believe it is intentional so that you can enjoy your friends and the dining experience (as it is anyways meant to be). I have gone at lunch and told them I was a bit rushed, and they were always able to accommodate. The sweet sausage ravioli was delicious, and my wife had the beef tips, which I tasted and ate wonderful. We were too full for dessert, but it is one of the things they are most known for. It was okay. The burgers my husband and I ordered were both almost burnt/well done when we ordered medium and medium well. The prices were very high for the quality of them. The speciality drink had so much ice in it after a few sips the ice melted and the drink was watered down . I was disappointed to not have a drink I could enjoy. My colleagues and I were in town for work and found Selah on Yelp. The reviews were favorable. I will most always give a place a second chance if the first visit is not the best. Off days do happen. Selah's is no exception. My group will be back in a month and we will try again. The place is fantastic looking. Atmosphere was good. Very few people for dinner, but it was a Tuesday night. The food was excellent. Presentation was superb. Service was not so good. It took way longer to eat than it should. Almost 2 hours. The waiter was only two weeks into the job, so there is that. But new or not, you should know that you don't bring steamed broccoli to the table 15 mins before your meal comes out. Also, when three of the four at your table have steak, you should know to bring steak knives. There was just a general sense of disorganization. Also, if the waiter is not familiar with the drink you ordered, CC and water, he should speak up. Better than bringing what he brought, which was not even close. We think he made it. No bartender was in site. I think this place has great potential, but the staff has to be on the ball. I hope next visit is better. The food was very good! read more

Had the opportunity to visit this lovely restaurant for dinner one night. I've had their desserts but this was the first time eating there and everything was delicious! We had for apps humus, mussels, and crab cakes. The mussels were amazing! Our dinner was equally as good! The entire restaurant is an old bank and they kept the original vault which was really cool to see. This is my new favorite restaurant. It feels like it should be in a larger more hip city. The atmosphere is great and so unique, being in an old bank. It's refreshing to have a local restaurant that's not just spaghetti and meatballs. The food was delicious and the dessert very tempting. We came in from out of town not knowing what to expect. We found this place so decided to check it out. It seemed busy at the time but they asked if we would like to sit outside so we did. Not knowing what was going on we were seated in what is considered an alley, there was live music just starting up. (Which was awesome btw) The place was filling up rapidly, so I was happy we got seated fairly quickly. We had drinks and omg, I'm from Wisconsin and they sure do know how to make a Brandy old fashioned, it was awesome! The food looked amazing! I wanted to try evening on the menu, but when we walked in, I couldn't help but see the awesome display of desserts so Of course I saved room for that, and let me tell you the cake I had was also like homemade just like grandma used to make. Came for lunch today and was delighted by the restaurant. It offers a very eclectic mix of food which kept us guessing that whole time. The interior is extraordinarily designed to a tee, with beautiful, intimate seats and tables, a nice vault for interesting dining, cute lighting, and nice additional decor. The coffee bar and bakery were cute and tasty! I had the house coffee (and about five free refills), and the coconut cream cake that tasted homemade and fresh. For lunch I had the chicken flat bread which was much larger than expected, delicious sweet potato fries, and the soup of the day, a tomato spinach Parmesan vegetable loaded with light, fresh flavor. I highly recommend this place for about any kind of food options, a romantic date, a luncheon, or a carry out! They even have music on the weekends! I think their liquor menu (not much in the way of brown liquor) could use some additions considering it is not an inexpensive meal, although I realize local tastes may drive that. The tomatoes where fried perfect with a light corn meal breading and the relish was sweet to go.with the saltiness of the tomatoes. One of our favorite places in the Youngstown metro. Very attentive staff that cares about the experience of the guests. Great atmosphere - indoor and out.
