I was convinced my water softener was on its last legs (30 years old), but Chris looked it over and said it was in great shape. He pulled out a small box that was his test kit, drew a water sample, and said the sample was sufficiently softened. Diagnostic fee was $110- par for the course. But good to know that the this particular softener was made to last and, in his estimation, had another 5-10 years of service left. I've always been satisfied with service I receive from Seiter. This past Friday, I discovered water in my basement around the area of water heater and HVAC. I thought it was the water heater so called Seiter. Dan arrived about 3:45 and started checking things out. Chris arrived a short time later. They both worked non-stop trying to find the source of the water. They were here about 2 hours. Although they never really could find the source of the water, I couldn't be happier with all they did in trying to find it. Both worked non-stop searching both inside and outside for the source of the water. Both were such gentlemen and went over and above. They set the water softener to regen that night. They told me they would come out next day if water recurred. It ran that night, but nothing happened. I'll continue to call Seiter when something goes wrong. Very dependable company! read more

Chris Luehrs & Kyle Hudson came yesterday to install my new kitchen sink and new faucet and change my reverse osmosis filters. I will say they both were very nice, very respectful, and did a great job. It's nice to be able to count on a great company. I've been dealing with Seiter Services for a while now. Southtown/Seiter Services installed furnace on a Friday, June 4, 2021 for an 86 year old man. When I checked in on him on Sunday, June 6, 2021, the house was fool of gas. I called Vectren and they detected the union was leaking gas bad. Vectren shut off the gas for the entire house and told me to contact the contractor and tell them they need to come back and do their job properly. The house could have blown up and killed my dad. My husband called the emergency phone number of Southtown/Seiter Services on Sunday, June 6, 2021. An automated service answered. She did not ask for address of gas leak or name of resident. She was focused on getting information of caller. We did not receive a call back from Southtown/Seiter Services on Sunday, June 6, 2021. Monday, June 7, 2021, Southtown/Seiter Services came out to fix gas leak. The contractor was using bubbles to determine if any gas leaks. The contractor did not have a sniffer. We had to wait an hour for a co-worker to bring a sniffer to check to see if there was still a gas leak. Other issues we had with Southtown/Seiter Services was they quoted dad $6K for a/c and furnace. They billed dad for $8K. Luckily dad caught the error. The contractor changed billing back to $6K. He had to wait 2 weeks for installation, which was reasonable to obtain equipment and get on the schedule. Dad received a phone call from Southtown/Seiter Services that the installers partner has Covid and the installation would have to be postponed another 2 weeks. The temperature was extreme cold and then extreme hot during those 2 weeks. I requested support similar to DP&L provides (generator) when electricity is off. Hank said they do not have space heaters or window a/c to use. I had to go out and purchase a space heater for dad. He sat in the house in his winter coat and a heating pad on his back and one on his chest to keep warm. I requested compensation for the inconveniences dad suffered during this timeframe. These guys looked at our system and quickly said we would be better off with a new furnace. The service tech then says the A/C unit should be replaced as well. The guy never even went outside to look at the a/c unit. The scenario went from an $300.00 obsolete control unit that went bad, to needing $6000.00. to replace our whole system. Had another company come and inspect the system, diagnosed the same bad control unit and recommended not to put more money in an obsolete furnace. Their estimate $2500.00. to replace the furnace with a top 5 brand! No need to replace the A/C unit. Seiter Services, in my opinion, not someone I would recommend. Pathetic service, from more than one employee (including the owner of the company). We have a difficult unit, which Seiter Services made very clear from the beginning. Very understandable if they can't, or don't want to fix it, but be upfront about it. Instead, we heard twice that they would look into quotes for us and never heard back (again, this includes from the owner). I eventually had to assume that they just didn't want to do the job. If you have a unit that is difficult, I would recommend looking elsewhere, cause these guys are just going to waste your time. read more
