Everything was delicious. I loved the salad so much. It was really well balanced with textures and the dressing was delicious. My only minor complaint was that the crostinis that came with the dip had gaping holes in every single one, so they weren't great for holding dip, but our wonderful server brought us some extra bread slices, which were much better. The bartender wasn't busy, yet seemed distracted and inattentive. After we finished our drinks, my friend had to get his attention for a while and call him over twice just to order another cocktail. He took her order without ever asking if I wanted another drink, which is such a basic part of hospitality.. It's a shame because the space is beautiful and the cocktails are great, but hospitality is not an extra..it is part of what you are paying for. I truly hope management gives more attention to the service, because the venue has so much potential and deserves an experience that matches its beautiful setting. Based on my visit, however, I personally can't recommend it and would not return. When there are so many exceptional cocktail bars in Manhattan that combine great drinks, atmosphere, and genuine hospitality, I would rather choose one where the entire experience feels worth coming back for.

One of the few spots in the area that takes reservations online for larger parties, and the menu is conducive to group dining. We came here as a party of 7 of a Saturday night at around 7pm. Eager to get the night going, we put in our first round of cocktails swiftly. The cocktail menu at Ama is impressive -- lots of options and everyone was happy with what they ordered. I started with the Spicy Palawan (mezcal, calamansi, jalapeño, lime, spicy togarashi salt rim), which can be made with either tequila or mezcal. They had me at spicy togarashi rim, which did not disappoint. I also tried the Lychee Martini (vodka, lychee puree), which was well-balanced and did not veer into overly sweet territory, which is my preference. Food-wise, Ama is subtly Asian inspired, with many of the raw and cold dishes making use of elements often seen in Japanese cuisine, while many of the entree-sized plates and warm/cooked apps were more along the lines of Asian fusion.
