We had no idea it was NYC restaurant week , offering a pre fixed dinner 3 course menu of appetizer, entree and dessert. $45 + Reservations are highly suggested ! This restaurant is very Insta-famous and celebrities frequent here as well. There's very cool artsy MOMA type decorum from the outside of Sei Less all the way to your table or bar of choice....you'd definitely want to put on your fancy outfit or chic casual outfit for photos! Starters- spicy tuna crispy rice (mouthwatering) and crispy chicken wontons with sweet chili sauce. 10/10 Entree- Filet Mignon & Broccoli and white rice. (I prefer my steak cooked well and less sauce but my date loved it !) 6/10 Dessert- Dark Chocolate Mousse. 10/10 Vanilla Crème Brûlée. 8/10 Server was very hands on, knowledgeable about the menu items, attentive and polite! Been wanting to come to this restaurant for a while, but the food was mediocre at best. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and the service was good, but the food was meh. We started off with a few cocktails from the menu...they all were pretty sweet to be honest. We tried the Sei less, drink more and the yuzu margarita. I would ask for the drinks to be made less sweet if you're not into sweet drinks. We started with the crispy rice, which was pretty good. The sauce made it flavorful and the rice was fried to the right consistency. The ribs we ordered were a little strange. The smell of them honestly smelled like urine to me...didn't mention that out loud to my friend who joined, but that smell is how it resignated. The texture was pretty tough. I was expecting a softer fall off the bone kind of rib, which it was not. Would not recommend the ribs. We also ordered the black pepper beef - not a fan at all. The sauce was very peppery, the meat was tough, and the sauce was too gooey for the dish. It was also very salty, we sent it back. The 2 dishes that were good were the sea bass and the salmon. The salmon was a bit overcooked, but the presentation was nice, and the sea bass was cooked perfectly. The seabass was my fav overall. We also ordered the bok choy which was good (can't really mess that up ) and the pork lo mein. Honestly there was nothing special about the pork lo mein. We didn't order desert. My friend and I decided to check this place out for Restaurant week, and we ate so glad we did it. They had a great dinner deal for $45 (tax and tip not included) for a three course meal. Portion sizes were great and we were stuffed by the end of the meal. Their drink menu was also great. A great variety of cocktails with cool names, and they had other options for wine and liquor. I really enjoyed their signature, Sei Less cocktail. It was had the right amount or sweetness I like in a drink, and very refreshing. My favorite two dishes of the night had to be the wontons and the chocolate mousse. The host and servers were very friendly, and great ambience as well. It's definitely a fun place to celebrate a birthday. It seemed like lots of people primarily were there to celebrate their birthdays. My drink of choice was the sidecar. That was good. The food was just ok. The lobster spoons were flavorful but were over cooked and rubbery. The shrimp lo Mein was good. The best was the black pepper beef. So tender and full of flavor. The rock shrimp reminded me of bang bang shrimp. Service was ok. Nothing to complain about but nothing to brag about either. My party of 4 was immediately seated for our reservation. Nice ambiance. Noise level may be a bit above average due to having to kinda talk over the music that plays continuously. Excellent service from start to finish. I like that they brought out hot hand towels for the table. Menu has a lot of options, especially shareable starters. It was big pieces that were made to look almost like rock shrimp with the crispy coating it had. I was pleasantly surprised. We were late for our reservation. MTA screwed us on that one. So we had to make due at the bar. But the thing with the bar is that there is not much seating available which sucked. The bathroom which only had 3 stalls available. So it incurred a long wait. We both felt like the place it self left us wanting more out for it for all the hype. Yes the food was amazing but the bathroom was lackluster and so was the available seating. My wife and I had an early dinner here after watching a Broadway matinee. The restaurant was pretty empty, so we were seated promptly without a reservation on a Saturday. Very cool Asian themed decor. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was creative and tasty. We shared an Asian Green Salad (wonderful), Salt and Pepper Prawns (delicious), Sea Bass (very nice), and Cauliflower side dish (amazing). However, I do have two complaints. We ordered the Lobster Spoons as an appetizer and it was so chewy it was practically inedible. At $29, this is not acceptable. I informed our server about the poor quality of the dish. He said he would inform the kitchen immediately, but we were still charged for the dish. My second complaint is that given the prices of the menu items, they should offer free refills on their iced tea. But for my 2 complaints I would have rated the restaurant a 5. read more

Nice ambiance for sure and a very nice vibe with a great hostess. We arrived here mid-afternoon on a Sunday without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised that we were able to get a table. We'd been calling for a little while and we did not receive an answer but upon our arrival were told that they had just opened up. Once there, we were promptly seated and the waiter came over right away. For drinks we had champagne, soda, and water which were standard drinks so no need to elaborate (they were good) there. For food, we had the duck spring rolls for appetizers and the chicken with a side of vegetable fried rice for the meal. I thoroughly enjoyed the the duck spring rolls and so much more than the chicken. They were fresh and well-seasoned at the perfect temperature. The chicken on the other hand was quite over cooked and the mix of seasonings just wasn't quite right. The rice was okay, fresh but just okay. Since we attended on a mid-day Sunday afternoon and it was very empty, I'd love to experience what it's like on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday evening to get the vibe of what it's like during popular times. Super cool vibe for a nice evening out. I came for a friends birthday gathering and they were very accommodating for a large group. There's good music, chic people all around and good food. I had the vegetable spring rolls, vegetable fried rice and chicken dumplings while seated at the bar. Each of them were really good and of good quality. Review is for delivery only - not only is this the best spicy tuna crispy rice I've had since the heyday of Koi, but it was packaged so smartly. Super fresh fish and the green onions were a new twist on the usual jalepenos. The food left the restaurant pretty quickly too, not always the case with ordering from nicer restaurants. read more

Great upscale Chinese restaurant in NYC. The service was excellent. We had lots of appetizers one better than the next. Chicken lettuce wraps were very good. Our favorite was spicy tuna crispy rice. Out of this world a must try. We also had the lobster spoons excellent as well. Chicken satay and Peking Duck fried rolls all very good. Our Waitor was also very attentive and it was also nice to see the culture diversity among staff (he was latino and spoke to us in spanish) . We ordered salt and pepper prawns , beef and broccoli , chicken lo mein . the salt and pepper prawns were large and crunchy , the beef and broccoli was steak cubes cooked medium, i loved that they melted like butter , the lo mein was also full with assortments of veggies and chicken. The portions were good for 2 to share, I was intimidated by the pricing and was hoping to be able to eat well. I was taken to Sei Less my birthday on restaurant week, and I can't say I was disappointed at all. This was a go to spot for me based on recommendations from the cast of the Joe Budden podcast so I'm glad I got to make the trip. For starters, I had the rock shrimp tempura, which probably was the best rock shrimp I've ever had in my life (even the leftovers I ate the next day unheated). For my entrée, I ordered the fillet mignon and broccoli, which I didn't realize was going to be served cubed, not a big deal. Drinks were good. Service was great, no issues there. They came out with a chocolate cake and sparklers, which was a nice touch. No charge. Ambiance was loud and lively. Semi dark, but to be expected, so your selfies will need some lighting. Upscale but trendy. Crowd was looking like they came from an Instagram photo shoot (myself included). They had Drake quotes in neon lights, so do what you will with that information. Parking: this isn't a knock on the actual restaurant, but we had a weird parking situation, which is always tough in New York City. Be careful because it seemed that there was a random person who was offering to park your car, but it seems a bit sketchy. Overall, if anyone offers to bring you to Sei Less for dinner, just grab your keys and tell them say less. read more

Beautiful decor when you walk in from the steps to the art on the wall. I was a part of a bridal party dinner so they were 6 of us. They sat us in the very back by the window but due to the rain, there was a leak that we didn't notice until we left. We ordered family style so a bunch of food. Celebrated my 32nd Birthday here and had a great time/experience overall. My party size was 6 and we had a prefix menu. Our waiter explained the food items well but he sort of rushed us to eat. We females tend to want to take pictures and videos of our food before consuming it. I enjoyed the shrimp fried rice, sea bass, beef, noodles, and crisp shrimp. Wasn't a huge fan of the salt and pepper shrimp. The drinks were delicious and strong. The venue allowed for me to have my own cupcakes on top of the dessert they provided. There is a lot to like here at Sei Less... and a couple things that are just slightly off. First off, the food is absolutely stunning; great tastes, nice presentation, quick preparation. If you're looking for asian fusion to impress your palate, this will do the trick nicely. We tried several dishes, including pastrami spring rolls (amazingly delightful), the lobster spoons, the short rib bao buns (which aren't really bao, but are using that dough to make a taco-like wrapper around the meat and sauce), and the crispy rice with spicy tuna. The mains included the sea bass (a bit like a less flavorful miso cod) and kung pao chicken, as well as some pork noodles. The wait staff is friendly and efficient (although our waiter was a little messy, but he always had a clean towel available), but the room has a vibe that is trying too hard. It comes off a bit kitschy, more like the interpretation of a restaurant in the background of a music video. As others have mentioned, using the restroom here is a bit of a situation. The attendant is flat out rude and unhelpful, and that really puts a downer on a nice meal. If you can hold it in until you get to your next stop, though, the food is going to wow your taste buds. read more

I've come during lunch and had pleasant conversations with the wait staff/bartenders, and I've also come during dinner and sat next to and chatted with one of my favorite musicians. BUT don't get it twisted, this isn't Ricardo's and there aren't any reality TV film crews set up waiting for a brawl. This is a restaurant that caters to all people. Fantastic experience at Sei Less. Made reservations ahead of time for a Friday night dinner and it was wonderful. The food, service, and ambience was a 10/10. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the host and were seated promptly. Our server was super attentive and made great recommendations. They also have an in house photographer who can take pictures and then put in a nice frame for you to purchase, if you want. We loved this little surprise and got nice family pictures to take home with. The food is outstanding, every dish we ordered was delicious. I can't pick favorite because I love them all. As soon as I walked in, the hostess didn't even smile at me. I was not welcomed. I told her that I had reservations at 6:30PM but that I was there early and just wanted to sit at the bar. She said "no you're not on here. You can sit at the bar though." I reiterated to her that I had reservations at 6:30 and she again said "u not on here." I then gave her my full name and pulled out my phone and then all of a sudden she found me. I sat at the bar. It took 20 minutes for me to get a drink. There was no bartender behind the bar. When I finally got a drink, that lychee martini was just way too sweet. The female bartender looked upset about being there. She was just not nice. I've worked as a server for 10 years and know good customer service. They definitely didn't provide that. Then when I got the check, it made sense. 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill. The place itself is beautiful. Decor looked nice. Everything looked super clean. The bathrooms were very clean as well. Unfortunately, they speak so much about incorporating hip hop but I didn't see a DJ nor did I hear hip hop playing in the background. Would have been nice. There wasn't much of an ambiance. When I got home, my stomach hurt but I didn't think much of it. I felt sick but thought it was because the drink was too sweet. The next morning, one of my girlfriends told me that she vomited the entire time. She said she had food poisoning. Not sure what it could've been. We all pretty much ate similar things. all in all... Was looking for anything remotely high-end after work and wandered into Sei Less. After discussing my ability to enter with the mighty cool bouncer posted outside and ascending the staircase to the restaurant, I recalled that this was a popular rapper hangout in 2022. This means that the high density of positive reviews, especially on other review platforms, is driven much more by pop culture rather than NYC food culture. The atmosphere is seriously cool. If you're friends with the owner who purportedly provides "white glove" service to celebrities and he invites you here to host your album release party, awesome. If you're located close to the place and you want to grab a drink at the bar after work, Sei Less is worth adding to the rotation. Toward the goal of this restaurant being the jumping off point for a full-fledged hospitality "brand" like Nobu or Tao, I don't see it happening. To accomplish that, you need to start with a truly spectacular concept. Sei Less feels like a well-funded ripoff of something like Buddakan. Though the water service was fantastic, the waiter was about as charming or as animated as a tree stump. The food felt unfinished and relied heavily on sauces. The Peking Duck egg rolls were $20 and really leaned on the dipping sauce. I paid something like $85 for a lobster noodle dish which probably could have photographed well but reminded me of an experimental dish I'd cook at home rather than the cornerstone of a menu. There's a large incongruence between what the restaurant wants to be, what most reviewers claim it is, and what it actually is. This can plainly be seen in user-submitted photos: basic asian fusion dishes complemented by gooey sauces. Fantastic music selection interrupted by disinterested waiters. I admit it's hard to explore the menu as someone dining alone, but Sei Less didn't deliver. read more
