I was waiting a while to come visit this place.. tends to be another industry staple. I've heard many conflicting feedback on the food here, but I finally made it. The drinks were good and pretty at the bar. It was a nice vibe and set up. We tried the Yuzu margaritas and a glass of the veuve Cliquot. We enjoyed being at the bar so we decided to just stay there with our party of nine. The welcome hostess wasn't that nice. She definitely had an attitude and her face just was not welcoming at all. She reminded me of the soup guy memes. The food was OK. Definitely overpriced and the portions were small. The lobster siumai was tasty. The fried rice was regular. The short rib was tasty super tender. I was mostly definitely disappointed with the filet mignon and broccoli. (Beef & broccoli ) it was drowning in sauce!! you can only take a bite or two and then your palate is just over it. All is drowning in the sauce... the broccoli, and protein. I definitely did not like that dish. Good thing we had a lot of shots to get over the food and enjoy the rest of the night. The bartender she was OK as well. She was quick to remind us that she's doing a lot of work. I guess it was hints to make sure she was tipped well on top of the automatic added tip. All good. Always a vibe here if you're in midtown. It's great for a romantic night, for friends cheers or any type of celebration. Definitely great place for a photo opportunity. We made a reservation day of and we're seated promptly. Everything was delicious - we shared vegetable lomein and beef lomein with the sweet and sour chicken and the vegetable dumplings. So this review is a bit overdue. I stopped by one afternoon to get food to go. I decided to order the fried chicken wontons and the beijing chicken. The restaurant is really beautiful inside and I would definitely go back just to eat there. I placed my order at the bar, the young woman helping me was very nice. I get home later and warmed up the wontons in the air fryer. They were sooooo good. They were nice and crispy and seasoned well. The beijing chicken was delicious, however, I literally had maybe 3 or 4 pieces of walnut in my order. I was a little disappointed because the dish is literally just chicken and walnuts. My friends and I went to Sei Less for my birthday and had an incredible meal. We got the pre-fix menu and everything we ate was amazing. The chicken wontons were super crispy, the rock shrimp tempura was super delicious and came with a sauce that was out of this world. Sei Less has such an artistic well detailed ambiance. Love the decor throughout the entire restaurant. Each area WOW you. The infinity round bar which was fully stocked with liquor and champagne. My job decided to host a dinner party for the entire team. We had a V.I.P area which was lovely. It was able too accommodate everyone 20 people's to be exact. It was spacious enough that the servers where able to move around and bring our family shared meals around. The meal was 7/10 enjoyed the different varieties of food you received with a prefixes menu. We were able to play our own music and just enjoy each other company's with no interruptions. The raspberries were missing from the second crème brûlée but understandable during restaurant week. Black prawn shrimp a little high in sodium but I've been eating out a lot lately. Service was great, like most restaurants these days we had to wait until our full party was there, so we hung out at the bar and ordered a drink. Whenever you go to the bathroom, they were always in the way and not self-aware. Our waiter was so rude and very short with us throughout the whole night. The food was subpar. What a wonderful time we had celebrating my birthday! It was Friday, August 4th - Leo season!!! While I would have given my experience a five star, unfortunately I have to give it a four-star, because our experience did start off rocky with the hostesses who were very rude upon our arrival. Nasty attitudes (all 3 of them). We had a 6 o'clock reservation for 8 people who were all the there and not until we asked to speak to management did we get seated. And that was at least 30 minutes later. Not okay at all especially because the restaurant was not full. Now I can pick up to the good stuff! Aesthetically the restaurant was beautiful! We sat at the perfect table with a large floral piece behind us, perfect for picture taking! Although a dimmer setting, the lighting was still awesome in all our pictures. Of course we had a little help with our phone camera ring lights, lol! The manager accommodated us with ordering off the New York restaurant week prefix menu. Thank you to him because it was exactly the experience we were looking for! From the crispy chicken wontons (an absolute must), to the perfectly fried spring rolls, to the crispy rice with spicy tuna (my personal fav) we loved every bite! For dinner we ordered the black prawn shrimp, fillet mignon tips with broccoli, the veggie lo mein, the crispy walnut chicken, OMG....EVERYTHING was GOOD! All of it! What made it even better is that our food came out piping hot! We all were so happy about that! The drinks...PERFECTLY crafted! You will spend about $20 each cocktail, but at least you can taste the alcohol and not feel gypped. So they were definitely worth it! Dessert was delicious as well and because it was my birthday, my husband had a sparkler added to my chocolate mousse cake plate! The place is a little hard to find and there is a dress code as well as a bouncer who will ask if you have a reservation but he is very kind. We waited for all of our party to arrive at the bar and got drinks! I had lychee martini's, and a sir David whiskey sour. They were absolutely delicious! We had a set menu and everything was brought out in courses. We had chow mein, egg rolls, beef and broccoli and so much more! The dessert was just as good as the food! The service was amazing all the waiters were super attentive and a took initiative to refill our drinks and remove plates. We had our pictures taken by and purchased a few. I planned a bday dinner here a few years ago and have also been a few times with friends for dinner. It's easy to get a reservation and the process for my birthday was pretty smooth compared to other high end places I've been to. You need to leave a deposit and if you have over 5 people in your party you will need to do pre-fix which feels a little restrictive but it worked out to be less of a hassle then everyone ordering from the menu. The menu I went with was $100 pp + $100 admin fee for a selection of appetizers, entrees and sides which they circulate for the night. You can also order more and take any leftovers but that's not including drinks so it was definitely expensive for around 15 people. The food, drinks, music and service are great! They have late reservations, plays hip-hop/rap music all night, and can get busy but good service. For appetizer I got the chicken satay. It was good but too much peanut sauce for me. Came here for an early birthday celebration; sadly, we left very disappointed with that experience here. Sei Less is one of the current hot spots in NYC. I was supposed to come during restaurant week, but the days didn't align for my friends and I, so we came for my birthday instead. I'll start with one of the good parts of my experience. One of my friends was about two hours late, but the hostess was very flexible with me. They have a 90 minute table limit here (which is understandable, as they are very busy here). She allowed us some wiggle room-- we actually were able to eat and wait for my other friend to arrive. Not only was the hostess very helpful and welcoming, but the security guard on the lower level was helpful as well. While we waited for the latecomer-- my other friend and I decided to eat. We both went with the beef and broccoli, which my friend thought was extremely too small. I would concur because I've been to Jue Lan Club, Tao and Brooklyn Chop, which are very similar, especially in price points, but have a larger portions of food. My portion was mostly onions and peppers. We felt extremely rushed during the time we were eating as an employee was right next to us and continuously tried to take out plates and drinks (which I will touch on later). I probably had a half a plate of food and two different employees tried to take the plate, what's the rush? I explained to them that the third person was coming, and twice, two separate employees attempted to take away the silverware away. The vegetable fried rice was okay, however, I wish they offered just plain brown rice, but that was not an option. Again, as I wasn't done with my food and had about 1/3 of my food left, I was asked if I wanted dessert. I'm very confused and wondering to my self, again, what's the darn the rush! Around 90 minutes after we originally arrived, the third person arrives. We sorta rush them to order because I wasn't sure how long before they put us out. My friend opts for the lo mein and a martini. At this point, I'm not really enjoying my "birthday experience" but we make the best of it. My friend eats rather quickly and we ordered dessert and more drinks. While we were awaiting the dessert, my friend had her drink on the table, which wasn't done, unbeknownst to us, an employee grabbed her drink and none of us noticed. She tells the waiter, and they replaced the drink, but my other friend noticed that, they only replaced it half way. At this point, we are fed up. The bill is settled and we depart. I was extremely let down by the food, the service, and the majority of the experience here. I doubt I would return here, but I don't know. It's unfortunate that the employees don't grasp that they shouldn't rush people through their meal, take food and/or drinks prior to completion and otherwise make people feel like they have to scarf down their meals so the next person can be rushed into the seat. read more
