Came here Thursday night for an early dinner with my coworkers. I've been wanting to check this place out for a while because of all the great reviews, and I'm glad to say it definitely lived up to the hype. The vibe was super cute, the food and cocktails were on point, and the service was great. The only thing that really missed the mark was the sweet and sour chicken, it was honestly so bad we had to send it back. But everything else we ordered was amazing, so no complaints there. We decided to try this restaurant on a Friday evening around 9PM. There is street parking across from the restaurant and a parking garage directly next door to the restaurant. Arriving, there was a bouncer or security (?) out front who quite literally did nothing. He was leaning up against the door and barely made eye contact. Did not even pretending to enforce the dress code or appear to care who/what we were doing. I asked "is this Sei-Less?" as there were no obvious signs at the entrance and he respond "yeah", grudgingly, as if we were interrupting his evening and still not looking at us or even opened the door for us! Totally unprofessional and a little shocking for such a seemingly "upscale" place; so -1 star for that. Ambiance: dim-lighting, romantic but I can see this being a good spot for a girls/guys night. They played a lot of Hip-Hop and Afrobeats which seemed like an odd choice as the vibe is certainly more upscale/romantic than bar/lounge. However, the general crowd is early to mid-20s. I did see some older patrons but definitely catering more towards the college-age/GenZ/Millennial crowd. Many empty tables, but a lot more people started coming in around 10-11 PM. Food: Delicious. That's it. Delicious. We had the Shrimp and Vegetable dumplings. Shrimp dumplings had a large amount of shrimp inside, the dough was just right. Service: Attentive, fast, friendly. I had the vegetable lo mein chicken satay, which is always my favorite and she had the Kung cow chicken and we both just shared with each other just so we put all taste how it was and we had the crème brûlée as for dessert. I had a good experience. The music is good as well. But the service was awful. We came here for our 28th wedding anniversary because my wife liked it so much last time . We ordered apps. Got 1 refill on drinks which we had to flag them down and ask for . We were there for almost 1hr and 30 min and our waiter had still not come to ask if we wanted to order entrees . I've had Sei less bookmarked for a while and decided to spontaneously walk in and grab lunch this past weekend while spending the afternoon in the city. I did not have a reservation but the restaurant was pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon so I was able to be seated immediately. I ordered a lychee martini and it was delicious! One of the best I've ever had. I decided to keep lunch light and just order the crispy tuna and it was good. I saw that Yelp had a check-in offer and asked the stuff about it. They seemed a bit unsure if it was eligible to be redeemed but ultimately I was able to use it. They asked to take a picture of the check in offer as proof of redemption. The staff came out with sparklers and sang happy birthday to me (it was my birthday weekend ) and offered a complimentary shot which was very nice. A note: gratuity is included in the bill I was looking forward to seeing the Drake sign but it wasn't lit up since it was the day time. I was a bit disappointed at that. For food, the dumplings (8/10) and fried shrimp (9/10) were solid, and the shrimp lo mein (9/10) was great. But the real star was the filet mignon and broccoli--easily 100/10 if I could rate it that high! The spring rolls (6/10) were just okay. So there is a lot to be said about this place. The atmosphere is good, vibe is great, the drinks were very good. Photographer can be a bit intrusive, and crazy to pay $25 for photos when you can just take from your own phone. Needless to say our server was really good and it was unfortunate that our party of 5 had a horrible experience with the food. Two dishes came out and were completely unconsumeable for reasons that I will not mention. Upon asking for the manager after this happened once and then again with a second dish later into our dining experience he seemed as though he was not taking ownership of what happened in the kitchen and it really seemed as if he was trying to place blame on our party for the incident, this was absolutely unprofessional. Especially when 3/5 people in our party are also in hospitality and citing the race of your kitchen staff is irrelevant. After having an interesting conversation with the manager our server came back and asked if we wanted the dishes remade, we said no and just wanted the check so we could go, we didn't want to even finish the remainder of our meal. They again asked if we wanted dessert and then continued to bring drinks to the table that we did not ask for. Sei Less has such an artistic well detailed ambiance. Love the decor throughout the entire restaurant. Each area WOW you. The infinity round bar which was fully stocked with liquor and champagne. My job decided to host a dinner party for the entire team. We had a V.I.P area which was lovely. It was able too accommodate everyone 20 people's to be exact. It was spacious enough that the servers where able to move around and bring our family shared meals around. The meal was 7/10 enjoyed the different varieties of food you received with a prefixes menu. We were able to play our own music and just enjoy each other company's with no interruptions. So this review is a bit overdue. I stopped by one afternoon to get food to go. I decided to order the fried chicken wontons and the beijing chicken. The restaurant is really beautiful inside and I would definitely go back just to eat there. I placed my order at the bar, the young woman helping me was very nice. I get home later and warmed up the wontons in the air fryer. They were sooooo good. They were nice and crispy and seasoned well. The beijing chicken was delicious, however, I literally had maybe 3 or 4 pieces of walnut in my order. I was a little disappointed because the dish is literally just chicken and walnuts. What a wonderful time we had celebrating my birthday! It was Friday, August 4th - Leo season!!! While I would have given my experience a five star, unfortunately I have to give it a four-star, because our experience did start off rocky with the hostesses who were very rude upon our arrival. From the crispy chicken wontons (an absolute must), to the perfectly fried spring rolls, to the crispy rice with spicy tuna (my personal fav) we loved every bite! For dinner we ordered the black prawn shrimp, fillet mignon tips with broccoli, the veggie lo mein, the crispy walnut chicken, OMG....EVERYTHING was GOOD! All of it! What made it even better is that our food came out piping hot! We all were so happy about that! The drinks...PERFECTLY crafted! You will spend about $20 each cocktail, but at least you can taste the alcohol and not feel gypped. So they were definitely worth it!
