We purchased a bag of chocolate coffee beans and a half pound box of assorted chocolates (about 10-14 pieces), plus two free samples on top of that, this past weekend. Our mixed selections included dark chocolate almonds, dark chocolate peanuts, butterscotch chews, dark coconut special, dark peanut butter heart, milk chocolate peppermint pattie, lemon truffle, marshmallow egg, dark cherry cordial, dark chocolate chip truffle, and others. It's hard to pick a fave, especially of the dark chocolate variety, but the dark chocolate almonds never disappoint. Service was slow with just one worker helping a line of customers on a Saturday afternoon and each customizing boxes of chocolates. But the lady was friendly, and I didn't run into any problems paying with a gift card. Still, it was so inefficient, it's good I wasn't in a hurry on this day. The place was set up with plenty of specialty items for grads and teachers, and a week ago with Mother's Day gift options. I appreciate that See's offers reliable quality for all the chocolate lovers out there, even though this Lafayette location didn't seem adequately staffed during our recent visit. read more

Horrible experience at this store and I go to a See's Candies annually for Valentine's Day. This is the first time I've been to this location but was treated poorly. Had an interaction with Renee this morning who is rude, disrespectful, and apparently racist after reading other reviews on Yelp. She was treating me differently than everyone else, and the kind customer right next to me even felt uncomfortable after hearing her speak. Renee is supposedly the manager there?!?! Think twice coming here. People shouldn't be treated differently whether they're having a bad day or not. read more

I LOVE See's candy. Absolutely love it. However, I won't be back to this location. The older white lady behind the counter treated me like shit. I watched her interact with others and she was SO nice. I look Middle Eastern. I wonder. There were others in the store and it went stone silent at her rudeness. I chose to ignore and still bought my chocolate, and my gifts. I won't miss out because of her misery. Anyways, if you're a person of color, maybe go somewhere else. Great service when I stopped by recently. The cashier helping me was a young man, I think new to the job. He had to correct an amount before he could ring me out; not a big deal and he distracted me well with the many samples they offer lol. The manager (I think?) was great too, fixed the register issue quickly and was very pleasant. I can't say I've ever gotten bad service at a See's before and this location was no exception. read more

Wow ..... I have never seen racism at its best. Went in here and they had a tray of chocolates on a table. The white couple and kids were grabbing some and then when my son and I grabbed one the old white man through a fit. He screamed "no no you guys can't!" Then he stomped over grabbed the plate and through them all away. He said you "guys ruined them." The lady said well you could have let them get one before you through it away. My son goes the only difference between us and the other family is we are Hispanic mom. I said yes. I then ordered 11 lemon truffles and he gave me a hard time. This small candy store sells my favorite: their milk chocoalte butterscotch squares are killer (though can be border-line overkill with the level of sweet). Very brown sugary delicious. The parking here is crazy; this entire shopping plaza is full of driving nuts most days. But once you get inside it's cool, calm, and the smell of happiness is all around you. Friendly employees and they had great sales on lots of Easter leftover items a few weeks ago (not my favorite chocolate square, but I stocked up anyhow on other goodies.) read more

Had a custom large box made and found I had milk chocolate instead of dark. On 6 pieces. Must be new staff that don't know their stock yet. Also when given samples, I asked for no nuts and the lady said they're truffles. Got home and they're milk chocolate nuts. In the trash they went. 2 different employees made mistakes. No more custom boxes. I don't like the idea of paying for something I won't eat. Grew up with See's. The holidays are not complete unless you have a 1-2 pound box. read more

Love See's and this Lafayette location is so great. It's close to home but the employees are so nice and helpful. They gave my daughter a few samples. I knew what I wanted to buy and didn't want any samples. I like the location, easy for me to pop in to get some boxes between running errands in this shopping center. My daughter and two of her girl friends went to See's today and asked "Do you have any vegan chocolate?" (My daughter is allergic to milk, and we've bought chocolate there before.). The person at the door gate (it's in place due to covid capacity) told my daughter "No, and we don't care." It was just really rude and aggressive for a grown man to say to a child. The two women working were pretty rude and they didn't seem to be communicating with each other in their little trips to the door. They said the box would take 10 minutes to make. It was much longer and it wasn't busy. And just before we got the box one woman came out and we said we just wanted to cancel as it had been long and confusing and she acknowledged the box wasn't ready and rudely replied she didn't know how to cancel the order because it was an online order. Then the other came out just after and confirmed my gf's name and said she had the box. Wtf?! Another great experience at the Lafayette Sees! Cristian was incredibly helpful in building the assorted box, and I was grateful to see how Tim worked to ensure a sanitary experience with samples etc. One cannot be too careful, especially with food products and I was heartened to see masks in use, gloves in place, and that the samples were being shared in a discretionary manner with each visitor to ensure sanitary conditions. read more

Great service. Purchased some holiday chocolate. Staff were patient and friendly and answered all my Candy questions. There was a line of 3 customers, outside the door, due to Covid restrictions. It's all the same good stuff you grew up with (at least if you grew up on the West Coast) and more. You can buy as much or as little as you want, like one lollipop or 20, one pound box, five pound box, mix or match, it's all here - plus they still make the good peanut brittle and toffee chips. Sugar free selections are limited though. Seasonal favorites too, like chocolate covered berries in summer, and all the holiday favorites will eventually be there. Small but packed store. read more

A quaint little location. It was empty. I bought a few items. My new favorite is pecans with caramel and chocolate. I like scotchmallows (marshmallow top with caramel bottom dipped in dark chocolate), scotch kiss (caramel dipped marshmallow in a wrapper), milk chocolate almonds, sometimes chocolate raisins. Chocolate wins out over coffee. The line in Peet's was just too long so I broke down and went to See's instead. I was trying to save my first visit for when I brought my mother (a long time See's *freak*...has even toured See's SF twice because of my sharp auction bidding skills...and at the time, unlimited credit card limits!) but the calling of Dark Raspberry was too strong. I walked in and admired the perfectly clean store. Of course, it is new so it is also clean. The smell of newness outweighed the chocolate smell. I can forgive this, because now there is a See's on my drive home, right next to the bank I go to, and in the same parking lot as Whole Foods where I stopped when I am eating healthy. Oh wait, conflict, healthy eating and See's candy! Still, See's was very smart to put this store here; it is a tiny gem in this Lafayette strip mall. PS I do wish I could get every piece of candy, every time, as fresh as I got today. These candies were almost as fresh as the times I have been given them off of the conveyor belt at the See's factory. Luckily, rarely do I get a piece of See's which is stale. read more

I just wanted to buy a pre packaged box quickly. I was told (rudely) by a sales lady who I always get poor service from that I needed to go to the end of the line. It use to be such that if you were just purchasing a pre packed box you could get through as others were takng their time ordering as they asked questions and tried samples. I love See's Candies. I grew up on See's Candies and, over the years, See's Candies has stayed constant! This store is located in one of the larger shopping centers on Mt. Diablo Boulevard. Like all other's See's Candies, the store is decorated in an old fashioned way and all the staff is dressed up in old fashioned uniforms - very adorable! As soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted by the very friendly staff and immediately offered a sample. My go-to candy at See's is the dark chocolate covered almond cluster. The dark chocolate is the perfect combination of sweet and bitter and has the just-right amount of almonds. I have been known to purchase a one pound box of just the dark chocolate almond clusters. See's also offers other truffles, candies, bars, lollipops, brittle, etc. If you're looking for a particular type of candy, there's a good chance that See's will have it. See's also offers sugar free options, which is great for my diabetic dad. Will definitely be back - after all, the holidays are coming! See's Candies coming to Lafayette last year was a Godsend for my sweet tooth. I grew up on See's Candies. It's always been the unofficial sponsor of all family gatherings. The staff at all See's locations is remarkable, warm and helpful. They just radiate joy (maybe because they're surrounded by all that chocolate day after day...) This See's was no exception. I stumbled upon this new location after several months on the other side of the country. I was coming out of Whole Foods when I saw it. I thought it was mirage or something, but low and behold I open the gates of taste-bud heaven. I was greeted and promptly told the women behind the counter that I wasn't here to purchase anything (out of cash), but I just wanted to make sure this was real.
