I love coming to See's Candies as it is a timeless classic when it comes to sweets. I grew up on them and still love them to this day. It is a great place to come to get goodies for yourself or as gifts. The perfect balance between a treat for both special occasions and everyday indulgence. I really like their variety, from rich truffles and caramels to nut clusters and melt-in-your-mouth soft centers. My favorites are their nut chews and you can buy them by the pound as well. The staff at See's shops are consistently friendly and sometimes generous with samples. Prices are a bit higher than before , but the quality and consistency justify it. I like coming here during the holidays so you get special seasonal chocolates or lollipops to try. I also like how they have sugar-free options so that's always a good sign! read more

Our weekday mall walk has now become an excuse to get our steps in and inevitably end up at See's Candies (completely by coincidence, of course). The free samples are made even sweeter by the friendly staff and stellar service. I'm always grateful for their patience as I peruse the many wonderful options here only to inevitably get a dark California brittle every time. I feel terrible about how long this has taken me to write. My apologies, Aryanna! You were the best and you deserved to see this weeks ago! Okay, here it is. My family and I were enjoying a Saturday walk around South Coast. Unlike my wife who prefers natures, I am a happy window shopper. I enjoy the air conditioning, casual nature of walking around, getting a coffee, and looking through the windows at all the fancy South Coast merchandise--it's a experience! We decided to cross the bridge from South Coast Plaza to Crystal Court and my wife was making some less-than-positive comments about Crystal Cove saying that where wasn't a single store that she wanted to visit. She was ready to leave entirely--she was done with malls lol. I quickly thought of an idea and quipped, "Sweety, if only you knew how wrong you are right now. You are going to eat those words in a minute." And yes, the PUN was intended! We go down the escalator, turn the corner, and before my wife realizes is, she is standing in front of her all-time favorite candy/chocolate store, See's Candies! We are both big fans of the classic Milk Bordeaux. Its our go-to every time and we generally buy 6-8. Bear in mind, we are there with our four kids and as we approach the glass display case we are immediately approached by Aryanna. She wasted no time to greet us and offer us samples. Keep in mind we are 6 people and Aryanna was more than generous and hospitable in her sampling. She made sure every kid got a chocolate to try but here is where she went the extra mile. Before handing out a bunch of random chocolate, she asked us if we prefer milk chocolate versus dark. We are a stereotypical American family we love our milk chocolate! She took careful note to hand out a bunch of fun flavors and my kids were in chocolate heaven! Her strategy worked. I asked for 6 Milk Bordeauxs followed by a couple of Birthday Cake chocolates, some Milk Butterchews, maybe a Scotchmallow. A few other things. When the damage was done, I ended up with nearly 3 times more chocolate then I first intended. Here I am at checkout and paying for my chocolate. She reads off the order as I am already paying and I noticed that the Milk Bordeauxs are not mentioned. I asked her about them and she remembers them mentioned but doesn't remember if they were added or charged. Here is where she took customer care to another dimension. She went and grabbed the Milk Bordeauxs, put them in the bag and handed it too me. I offered to pay but she apologized for the mistake and said that wasn't necessary. I will tell you what, it was probably a few bucks in chocolate but she earned a wealth of gratitude, respect and loyalty from me. I I am ever in the area, I would prefer going to her shop over another location because of her service. She was kind to my kids, very generous, successfully upsold me on chocolate (lol) and she chose the customer over hardcore profit. The Supervisor Brian B. was very friendly and helpful with creating a box of chocolates for me as a gift today. I even picked up some pieces for myself. He made the experience personable as he was attentive to myself and the guest around me by thanking those for waiting and handing out samples while building my box. Thank you Brian B. I don't normally leave reviews but today's experience was the most memorable and pleasant experience I've received since I first discovered See's Candies with my mom growing up. Ronald C. is the Manager at this location and I specifically wanted to give him a shout out for providing a personable experience like no other. I came in today to buy gifts as Im traveling back to Michigan where some of my family members live and they don't have a See's Candies out there (Please open one!!!). Upon arrival I was warmly greeted by Ronald and he offered me a choice between milk chocolate and dark chocolate. I told him I enjoy both and normally they just hand you the sample where as Ronald gave me a few different options to choose from in the box he was holding and I took the milk chocolate caramel with almond. He made the suggestions for the pre made boxes or to create my own box and I was torn between a few of the premade boxes but the moment he said "follow your heart" I chuckled and thought what a clever line for a chocolate store. I followed my heart and ended up creating one big box and one small box for my family and took home a few pieces for myself. He was very informative and had me sample a new love of mine that I've surprisingly never tried before, the Peanut Crunch as I normally order Milk California Brittle. I also learned today that See's Candies is Celebrating Dogust where they have partnered with the foundation 15/10 to help with adoption fee's and medical expenses for dogs so I made a donation to contribute to See's partnership. From start to finnish Ronald displayed excellent customer service, an upbeat demeanor with witty remarks keeping the experience fun. I would of given them 5 stars for selling such an awesome tasting chocolate, giving a free sample and being and usually having very courteous sales people to help. This time during pandemic? Things did not go smooth for me. I did everything asked of me; waited in line outside for about 30 min., wore mask inside. Kept 6ft. Away from people. Then one of the cashiers told me to step up to her for service and doing that I pass guy in line in front who stepped out to talk to another helper while staring at his phone. After I complete my order,this guy in suit demands to be served 1st(I'm dressed casual and he's in a suit) They make me get out of line while the whiner gets his. SLOW customer service -1 Small but Clean store & easy to find products +1 When did Sees candies get to be so overpriced?? ;( -1 I believe that the quality of Sees chocolates have gone way down; maybe this is due to it being over hyped & people "think" its the best chocolate out there when it really isn't? Reading their ingredients list, you can see that Sees uses Artificial Flavors, Corn Syrup & Cornstarch. -1 Sees chocolates have such a bland & waxy stiff taste to them that does not even resemble what real chocolates tastes like. -1 Ghiradeli chocolates are much cheaper & tastier than Sees. Sees should take a good lesson from real European chocolates, real authentic tasting chocolates, no preservatives, less focus on marketing & more focus on improving upon its products so that customers can truly really enjoy their chocolates. =) If you'be eaten real European chocolates & are true chocolate lovers then you'd understand & agree to what I'm saying. =) The only decent things that Sees has here are the Lollypops BUT the new flavor, Chocolate Caramel Lollypops are just weird tasting.. =( read more

I've always loved See's candy and their exceptional customer service but I must say I was very disappointed tonight as I visited the South Coast location. I took my little girl there for the first time and of course she was mesmerized by all the chocolate pieces and very excited. As I was trying to the decide what to get her the associate asked us very quickly what we would like? I asked her if I could sample the chocolate with pecan (because the gentleman that was helping the guests in front of us offered them a sample to try and one of them said she's allergic and her offered another piece. The ladyd looked at me like I said I wanna sample each piece of chocolate available. She said "uh u want to try it? " I said yes please, the other associate offered it to other guests and I was wondering if I could try it?" She again repeated herself with a confused tone "what do u mean? What do you want to try?" At this point I was like nevermind. She went into the drawer and just grabbed a piece and put it in front of me, didn't offer anything to my husband or child. It didn't matter because I wasn't there for free chocolate, I had more items in my hand and was going to purchase more, but it was just her attitude that was off putting. I asked her if they had any pieces that were like chocolate covered cookies or thinner pieces I could purchase for my daughter? She again looked at my confused and said "I don't know what u mean? Cookie? We don't have cookies!" All with a tone that wasn't the kindest. There were more people behind us and I started to feel very embarrassed like I'm an idiot and this is the first time I've stepped into a store! It was very unpleasant, I quickly asked her for couple of more pieces to purchase and left. It was not a very good experience, especially one that I wanted to share with my daughter for the first time. I've been to many other locations where they are super nice and offer u different things u might like and have u try things but unfortunately this wasn't it! I can never come out to California without buying some chocolates from Sees to take home to my mom. They didn't have the nuts and chews box I normally get her but I figured she shouldn't be eating all that anyway. I was so happy to see they had a sugar free bar option so I bought her two dark chocolate ones and also got myself a dark and milk one to try out as well. The workers are very friendly from the moment you walk in and are very helpful in helping you find the right selection you are looking for. They also gave us free samples to try. I wish I could have bought a pound box but I'm sure that would totally ruin my a1c level so I stuck with the sugar free bars but got some gold coins for the boyfriend. This is conveniently located in a mall so there's lots of other shops to browse through in the area. Definitely a good location near other things to see and do. read more

This is my favorite See's shop.. yes, it's in the mall but it's in the Bear side of the mall so the parking is reasonable and it's easy to get to cuz it's really close to the Macys Home store where you can park, come up the escolator and be in and out easily. Reason I love this place is the staff.. everytime I come in here they are so incredibly friendly and helpful. I know, I know.. most See's stores are that way but for some reason the people who work here always seem to be in a great mood. I am not a fan of chocolates, but when I have a rare craving of chocolates, See's is my top choice. Dark Chocolate Covered Cherry is the best chocolate covered cheery I have ever had. Very juicy inside, which is extremely difficult to achieve. California Crunch is also one of my favorites. Not overly sweet, perfect blend of toffee, nuts and white chocolate. Their lollipops are also amazing, I love the chocolate flavored pops. I always have a box of little pops on my desk somewhere. Costco sells a 2-pound voucher for $25.99, strong recommended. read more

Whenever I come to South Coast Plaza, I always make a point of stopping by at See's. The staffers here are all very friendly and helpful, and I'm a huge fan of their chocolate :-) One particularly nice employee helped me out a few times during my periodic visits. Very polite, made sure the chocolate fitted perfectly in the box and was just very friendly overall. Free wrap if it is a gift. If you ever wanted to try something before getting it, they are more than happy to provide you with a free sample too! I used to get the prepackaged one pound box of nuts and chews they sell for around $18. But these days I love just picking out my own and having them make me a custom box. A half pound usually costs roughly ten dollars., with about 15-20 pieces depending on the chocolate size. If you're a straight up caramel lover like me, 'Scotch Kiss" is super delicious! It's a glob of caramel with a marshmallow in the middle. The walnut chew, vanilla nut caramel, and butterscotch chew are some of my other favorites from See's :-) read more

I'm in here all the time. The chocolate is good. Not exactly rewriting the rules of chocolate or anything. The dark chocolate chip truffle- that's what got me addicted to this place in the beginning though I haven't had it in ages. This one is definitely quicker than the Bristol side of the plaza. There is no better box of chocolates on the whole planet than See's Nuts and Chew. I swear I ate a whole box all by myself in 3 days. It was SOOOOOOOO good I could not stop reaching for the next piece even while I was still working on the one in my mouth. The Scotch Mallow has got to be my absolute favorite (that's the one with caramel and marshmellow on the inside) followed by the dark chocolate almond cluster. Nuts and Chew only has chocolates with either nuts or caramel or marshmallow. The only piece I do not like in the box is the one with walnuts. read more

We purchased numerous boxes of chocolates every year at the holidays. This year we opened 3 to 4 boxes and the chocolate was not good. With each bite the chocolate fell apart leading us to believe that the chocolate was a mixture of wax and buy products. I came here recently to get a free sample of raisin clusters, but ended up buying a few boxes as holiday presents. The lollipop suckers are good for driving---try the vanilla or the butterscotch. My kids like the vanilla buttercream chews and the chocolate-covered peppermint. I get a lot of gifts here for my business customers because the boxes look special and they come with so many different candies that everyone can find something they like. read more
