We will be indoors with a lot of bright lights, so it's good that you did your makeup, and look nice. Me: Very puzzled expression. Him: Do you remember that move, "Zach and Miri Make a Porno" and how at the end their business is helping couples create their own studio-quality sex tapes? Me: Yeaaaaah... Him: Well i thought it would be nice, you know to do that, and its a really nice place with only women on set... Me: WTF?! You're kidding, we are absolutely not doing that! No, you're joking...and if you're not you better turn this car around! And he kept acting like this was legitimately his surprise for a another minute and was doing a really convincing job of pretending that he was for real, and thus my anxiety/anger level was increasing until he finally laughs and says, no we are going to a glass blowing class. Oh the relief! Obviously i was a bit mad at the deception but had to laugh at his uncanny ability to say all of that to me with a straight face. Anyways, the ladies of Girl Glass thought this story was hilarious and really wanted to have it said on yelp that this experience was better than porn, and it was! I do know that they made a special exception via emails and phone calls back and forth between them and my husband to arrange this private class for us because it was not a normal day that they would have done it. They even allowed us to go to their house, and we did it in their backyard, just the two of us. My husband and I each made ornaments, and it was a really unique and fun experience that I totally recommend to anyone with any interest in the art of glass blowing. Its mind boggling what they can do and how it works and also very hot!!! Long sleeves highly recommended! They do a demo, and then they guide you through choosing your colors and then actually doing it yourself/assisting in the creation of your very own masterpiece. You don't get to take it home right away but they have various arrangements for getting it once it is ready. Another sweet touch: they had asked my hubby ahead of time if i liked vanilla or chocolate, to which he told them chocolate and then after our ornaments were made they brought out two delicious chocolate cupcakes from a local bakery in honor of my birthday! It was above and beyond to even get them but they were to-die-for good too!!! And so, to the ladies of Girl Glass: I give you five stars and I say thank you for a wonderful memory. We got to choose to make either a bowl, cup, or vase. You will do the work on every part of the process to make a piece, but the instructors are right there to make sure you come away with something to feel proud of. Everyone in my group chose to make a cup, but each person gets to choose their own colors and each cup came out with a slightly different shape depending on how the tools were applied. It was really fun to see each persons unique final product! I enjoyed this class so well that I'd like to go back again and make another one of the options.

I believe they cap the class at eight so that you truly get the attention and detail in training that you deserve. Our instructors, Rene and Lauren, were phenomenal. They were funny and relatable and made the entire experience extremely enjoyable. After going over the basics of safety and glass blowing, we went one by one and received individual attention to make our glass masterpieces. We were given the choice of making either a paperweight, a drinking glass, a bowl, or a vase. We were allowed to pick any color of glass that we wished, and I appreciated the insight provided by the instructors as to which colors would go together well. I ended up making a beautiful vase with a translucent jade color with pops of white. My husband made a drinking glass in green and gold. From start to finish it was an incredible experience and something I would definitely enjoy doing again. She and her husband own the shop. She explained the ceramics workshop studio concept. They offer a variety of classes for all skill types and ages; and membership levels. Even the students inside were cool and shouted out praise. Chill, friendly community vibe. The students were ethnically diverse even. The shop interior was beautifully designed. Modern, contemporary comfort. There are pamphlets outside the shop. I grabbed one as we left. The classes (especially the advanced classes) are taught by professional, experienced artists. The classes vary by topics (by skill level)and they even have classes for the kiddos. They also offer studio time, membership rates, and party event rental. The class pricing is comparable and to me possibly a bit cheaper than their Sacramento counterparts. What caught my attention was the 2 hour wheel throwing class $50. Hmm ... Arial is positive and encouraging with hammock (I have not taken her hoop class yet, but I'm sure its is just as good) And Julien is direct and clear with her instruction for silks. Kat as teacher is tough yet encouraging. I know I'll have a good workout with her as coach. I'm midlife postpartum and not *at all* athletic. While I'm active (hiking, and walk-and-talks) I never played team sports or any sport. But approaching 40 I decided to improve my strength while I still have my youth. Free weights is fine, but became a little dull after a year. Circus arts seemed to be an interesting extension of free weights. And it has been a game changer. Weird ailments with my posture and joints, both signs of aging, has improved in unexpected ways. I have become surprisingly strong and agile. While every person's experience may be different, most people I take class with agree: aerial arts is fun and addicting. I hated it throughout my school years, and I failed miserably in it in High School. As I got older, here comes Paint Nite! Where you sip wine n paint. My first time in 2017, I didn't even drink my wine as to I was too concentrated on my painting! And that one was a masterpiece too. And tonight, was my time to SHINE AGAIN! I needed some "MEENA TIME" and while searching for Sacramento events, up came "Painting and Vino". Now, there is NO WINE at the event despite the name and they make that clear before booking. So please read before buying your ticket! BUT you're more than welcome to bring your own Vino and snacks!! Tonight Painting n Vino was held at, "Crystal Vibez" in Sacramento and hosted by the Sweet Wonderful Kathy!! She was the most nicest, kindest art instructor and she has so much patience! She showed us to paint a sunset overlooking an island. And she went step by step with what brushes, strokes, color blending and all to do! And a few hours later my masterpiece was born! And I made some new friends while painting away! You must sign up for a class, it's so much fun! And you meet all kinds of fun people and the best part is seeing everyone's masterpieces at the end! We were here yesterday, September 12, 2026 for our annual visit. We love Sacramento Open Studios…read moreand this is always our first stop and sometimes like yesterday our only stop. What makes this stop so wonderful is you can visit so many artist studios in the same location and see some of the other featured artist in their gallery. We saw at least 10 artist studios. All different mediums. My favorite was on the first floor and our last exhibit of the day. What caught my eye was a miniature commercial building in NY full of artist studio/homes. I talked to the artist and she said it was inspired from an actual building. She said when it first open ended it didn't have indoor plumbing. Over the years as you could see it became full fledged apartments. I'm so thankful that Verge has put together these Open Studios for us to explore annually. There is so much great artwork available for viewing and purchase in the Sacramento area. There are so many studios that open their doors all over Sacramento for those 2 weekends. We don't visit a lot of them due to the driving and time constraints. Parking- There is only street parking that we are aware of of. Beware of the signs as not all parking spaces are equal. Some have a limit for 2 hours not including Sunday and Saturday and Holidays, paid parking all the time, 1 hour parking all days. Bathrooms- They have 3 sets of bathrooms all on the first floor that I'm aware of. Some of them are genders neutral and others are labeled men's and women's Classes- Verge offers classes for children and adults. I haven't had the opportunity to take any classes, but I have participated in their clay lab which is fun. Check out their website for additional information.

Adj: amazing community creativity center!…read more After the amazing Yelp Elite event here last year, I haven't had time to return. However, recently I had a project that I needed help with and are wrecking my brains, I realized that Community Shop Class (CSC for short bc I'm all about acronyms) could probably help me out. Thankfully this was just the weekend when CSC hosts it's once monthly Oak Park fix it Cafe. So with hopeful thoughts in my heart, I brought my project and my family here to check it out and get some practical help. My daughter remembers CSC from the Yelp event (where we were allowed to bring a plus+1) and she was very happy to get to check it out again and it would be a first for my hubby and son. We were welcomed upon arrival by a volunteer who gave me an intake form so the fix it volunteers can diagnose my project with a problem and set me up with the right fix it person. Not long after I was directed towards the sewing room, and then Chad the founder and owner came by and introduced himself and when I mentioned the Yelp event, his eyes lit up and he said that was one of the best events he's ever hosted bc of everyone's enthusiasm and the community brought together. I totally agree!! Turns out Chad was the one who was about to fix my project and he taught me how to use certain equipment and then I was set free to work on my project. He also told me about new classes for older kids that are almost ready to be launched so I'll definitely be back with my kids for them to take classes here. Chad is truly a caring and big hearted person who's given so much to this community in the Oak Park neighborhood as well as in the greater South Sac area. Afterwards, we walked around and chatted with some of the fix it volunteers and also checked out the new changes and innovative new spaces and offerings. They have great outdoors space here too with nice pergola covered seating out front and some veggie planters. In addition, You can take all kind of classes here and their membership is very affordable with long hours starting with 7-10a coffee time together and then it's open most days till 6 or 7p except it's closed Sunday and Monday. In short, I highly recommend checking out Shop Class for all your maker space needs and as an excellent place for all your creative outlets!!

There are always people with repair skills in here that can work their magic and pull repairs out of the air on common household items, electronics, clothing, and pretty much anything and everything you can think of as long as it's not a huge item. In addition, this is also a community creative maker space for those who want to make stuff. You can print 3D items whether practical or for play, record your own podcast or song in their studio, and even make or fix a bike. All for a low monthly membership price, and there are also classes to take for 3D printing and more. There are also special classes especially for older kids to hone their life skills and to enhance their art and crafts and creative repertoire. All in all, an truly inspiring story of how Chad the founder and owner of Shop Class started this amazing community workshop, and how he and an army of community volunteers continue to pour into the immediate surrounding neighborhood as well as the greater Sac community with their monthly Fix-it Cafe, daily coffee time from 7-10 and then the rest of their day is open for creative and meaningful business.
