Avoid this company at all costs. These guys are documented crooks, a reputation they carry with those in the alarm industry. Further, the man at the top, Jim Roussin is not only unprofessional--he's proud of it.
Secure24 sent an installer, Darin Watson, to my 3-story house, who made several mistakes. Darin installed a tablet out of range of the main panel on the third floor, he improperly wired the system in the network closet, he misstated the capabilities of the portable tablet, he incorrectly installed the primary panel, used improper settings for the motion sensor, and he misstated the ADT downgrade policy--stating that we could downgrade anytime to non-smart features at no cost.
Most of that would have been forgivable; however, when brought to Secure24's attention, they refused to own any and all of these mistakes, beginning a several-months long battle, requiring ADT Corporate to intervene and mediate, even before the Secure24 subcontract was to be handed over to them.
Darin texted me that he had never installed in a 3-story home before, and that he was sorry for making all those mistakes. He owned it individually, and that was respectable. Unfortunately, speaking with the General Manager of the company, Jim Roussin, was another story.
Due to Darin's improper wiring and assessment of our home's electrical system (it is a new-construction home), our Main Panel wouldn't hold power. Secure24 indicated that it would need to use a different wiring solution and potentially move the panel, but it refused to pay the cost, mere days after install. After escalating to Jim Roussin, who indicated he was the highest person in the company we could speak to, despite Darin acknowledging that it was his mistake, Jim stated that "well it's not our fault that you don't know what your home's electrical system can handle."
Right--that's what we hire the installer for, Jim. Because, yes, we are not electricians. We did not choose the wiring setup, we did not even choose the panel location. Your company and your tech did. His reply? "Well I don't know what you want me to do." He repeatedly refused to fix the issue without us paying a few hundred more dollars to fix their mistakes. He laughed on the phone at one point asking us what we plan on doing since they're not going to do anything--a poster child for self-importance.
After mediating with ADT Corporate, Secure24 sent out a tech 3 times, and each time, the tech failed to fix the same issue. ADT Corporate finally sent out its own techs, who had to come out twice to solve all of Secure24's baffling mistakes--they found out the installer used the wrong wire, wrong connection, and connected certain wires backwards, causing a bottleneck in power. Other issues described above were also discovered and remedied.
We didn't have a working alarm system until SIX MONTHS after install. This doesn't even include being lied to about "downgrading for free," which we wanted to do, and which cost us several hundred dollars per year for services we didn't want. However, since just getting a working alarm took 6 months and countless hours on the phone, it just wasn't worth it any more to fight. Ultimately, Secure24 won. They successfully swindled us out of our money for 3 years. There's far more to this story than I can fit in a review, but please just take my word for it: Avoid Secure24 at all costs.
If you get Jim Roussin on the phone, you might as well hang up. If you are stuck with this evil company, then I urge you to call ADT Corporate and escalate to the "Presidential Team." If they tell you they cannot help you because you're still under contract with Secure24 (which is NOT ADT), then tell them Secure24 has refused to respond and you have no one else to turn to--remind them that Secure24 carries their name.
How Secure24 is still allowed to carry the name "ADT" is beyond me--even other ADT employees have expressed the same, and, apparently, this is not news to those in the alarm industry. Secure24 is known for their unscrupulous business practices. AVOID. read more
