While others claimed that the door was beyond repair, and that we first needed the services of an engineer to address the DOB Code compliance issue, Guy, from NYC Doors And More, spoke with me, and we arranged for him to survey the situation. On arrival, he very quickly, and confidently, observed that the job was not as complicated as had been presented to me by others, and he would research some options, and provide them to me as soon as possible. And that, he did. Guy understood that my priority was to reduce the operating, and maintenance headaches I was experiencing with this primary entrance door, including the fact that I was tired of replacing the hydraulic door closer, every one to two years. The phrase "penny wise, pound foolish" comes to mind when looking at the hardware choices that had previously been made. I was ready for an upgrade in quality for the hinges, and closer replacement, and I wanted a quality, code compliant, panic bar. Of course, quality upgrades cost more but I have to say: I've rarely felt so comfortable spending more than I planned, as I did with Guy, and NYC Doors And More. I had every confidence in Guy's carefully presented hardware recommendations, and his ability to implement them well. The result was that the installation and the subsequent operation of it all, exceeded my expectations. Six months later I still feel the same. The door now has a covered, one piece, full length hinge that will keep the door properly aligned, and seems indestructible, and a heavy duty hydraulic closer that will not have to be replaced for years to come. The DOB code correction (that other companies found so difficult to even address), was handled expertly; it's a truly seamless integration. They arrived, on time, worked efficiently, neatly, and were very accommodating, and patient, with the fact that everyone still needed to get in and out of that main entrance while they worked on the door. I will soon be having them perform similar work on the inner lobby door as well. All around, they're true professionals, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone that appreciates quality, and solid workmanship.

Daria was a wonderful initial point person and stayed in touch throughout the process by phone and text. Vova came out for the initial assessment and measurements, and he was patient, kind, and really listened to what I needed. The initial estimate was more than I could afford, and I thought I'd have to contact several other companies for bids. Oliver worked with me to bring the price closer to my budget, and I was able to skip that exercise. I also decided to handle the glazing and weatherstripping myself. Michael and Ivan came to do the work, and they were thorough, quick, and resourceful. These are very old windows, and they encountered some obstacles along the way, but they figured things out and did an excellent job. They also cleaned up beautifully and left the area cleaner than when they arrived. Everyone I dealt with was kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. The workmen's primary language is Ukrainian, so their English was sometimes limited, but this was easily handled because there was always someone in the office available to communicate with both of us in either Ukrainian or English. I've had plenty of experience with workmen whose first language isn't English, so this wasn't an issue for me. I also really appreciated the way the company combines technology with personal communication. Everything is handled efficiently, but you never feel like you're being left to deal with technology on your own. There was always a real person keeping in touch. The entire team is Ukrainian, which was particularly meaningful to me as an East Village resident and a Veselka old timer. I was very happy to support them. This is the way business should be done.
