    Afternoon winter tea
    Regina V.

Secret garden is so good! The quality is consistent and the price includes gratuity which is actually a great deal! I love the ambience and table settings here. It really does feel like a garden. I really enjoy spending an afternoon having tea and scones here. Even though it doesn't seem like a lot, I always seem to have leftovers for take out. I can't wait to come back!

Fabulous place for tea in a quiet neighborhood in Vancouver. Plenty of choices for teas and with a reservation in advanced (I think) select vegetarian, gluten free, or standard fare. We had all of them due to diet restrictions and they were fabulous and plentiful. We must be back.

One-line review: Decent but was hoping for more. I brought my wife and my mother-in-law here for a special Mother's Day celebration. I was looking for something special, and this seemed like the ticket. I even got the reservation well ahead -- a good idea if you're going at a high-demand season like the week of Mother's Day. The decor inside is lovely, and the high tea is beautifully arranged. Sadly, the food was mediocre and a couple of our servers... did not deliver the kind of experience one would hope for at $45 per person. They seemed a little irritated at having to serve us. There was one server who was excellent and kind of redeemed the time. There is free parking if one is willing to hunt in the neighbourhood, but we paid the meter so that the walk to the restaurant would be very short for my mother-in-law. Bottom line: This wasn't terrible, but at this price point, you can get a better meal.

Today was my first visit to Secret Garden with a friend who used to frequent here as a child with her grandmother. The location she remembered is closed and soon to be replaced with another business, but Secret Garden's new location is just around the corner on 40th Ave. The space is bigger than it looks and beautifully decorated. It is bright, airy, and the tables are spaced out well. I had brought my 10 month old son in his stroller and they thoughtfully seated us in the corner (I gave advanced notice in my online reservation). The food was delicious and generous, two of each savory piece on beautiful tiered dishes. The tea is unlimited and you can try as many as you'd like! Our server was attentive and gave us 10min notice before the teahouse closed. I would definitely return!

This was perhaps one the original tea rooms and still apparently has quite a following. Mid day workday whence we patroned was decently packed with British expats, and loyal colony subjectlings. Stuffy British accented parlance can be loudly heard without any effort. Never have I been to a tea room or aspired to due to the opposite reasons why loyal colonial subjects patronize the place. This time was out of curiosity and other's invite. So have nothing in particular as a reference point. Set menu of infinite teas. A few were decent. Then you have a "tower" of tiny bites. Seems they were mindlessly made by minions at a much earlier date and time. Everything tasted slightly on the stale side of things. For a packed lunch room, there were only a few servers, making it exceptionally challenging to order items. Overall, for the pretty penny you are paying for this visit to antiquity, you certainly won't feel like you are being treated like lords or ladies. Then again I have no reference point, perhaps this is how it is.

    Fall theme high tea

Went for high tea to celebrate a special birthday. The tea was excellent and food was perfect. It was quite busy and really noisy in there. Service was ok, not sure if they were maybe short staffed?

There are quite a few " institutions " in Kerrisdale - Hill's , Moore's Bakery , Buchan's Stationery , and of course , Secret Garden . Being an average ( prolly below average haha ) kinda guy I was never a fan of high tea , with its bite-sized finger foods and dainty desserts they seldom satisfy me . After this outing I'm still not swayed , BUT it did make me wanna hop on a cruise and hang at the dessert bar on board , for as long as I could .

It is no secret that I love high tea! I came to the Secret Garden for the first time 12 years ago. It has since moved locations into a much roomier and bright setting. We came today and were given a quiet corner table and were able to fully enjoy our two hour window for high tea. I love that the tea is bottomless and that you are able to sample different flavors. The Secret Garden Earl Grey was delightful with hints of vanilla and caramel. My mom and daughter shared the regular high tea service and I enjoyed the vegan version. The sandwiches were delicious - my favorite being a toss up between the BBQ tofu and the Mushroom BLT. I loved the coconut scone with the whipped coconut cream and jam. My favorite desserts were the fruit crumble and the ginger cookie. Our tea adventure today was everything we'd hoped it would be. The staff were so friendly and looked after our every need. We will definitely return to sample another season of high tea treats and will not keep our love of this place a secret

    Vegan High Tea - wow!

My favourite Vanvouver spot for High Tea! Love the reno. It feels more upscale than the other places. The prices are just right - $35 for kids and $50 for adults. They accommodate vegetarian and vegan, the staff is lovely and welcoming. Have you tried their signature Creamy Earl Grey tea? It's legendary. The mini sandwiches are amazing. We love everything about Secret Garden High Tea!

I love sipping on tea and eating mini sweet and savoury things. I can do it for hours without any regret for the time I've spent or how much I have eaten. Feels quite posh, if I may say so... The cups with their matching saucers and the surroundings are equally as important to the 'event' as the tea and the food. My only wish would be that I could try more of their teas in one seating and that the hot water refills came around more frequently. P.S. Remember to stick your pinky out when sipping your tea.

Got a seating at 11:30am for high tea for 2. The ambience is a bit noisy like many reviews say, however I didn't mind it because it didn't feel like people would listen in on your conversation/ we didn't feel the need to whisper and feel self conscious about being loud or anything. Our sever Carmen was absolutely wonderful. She was very kind each time we asked for something and she always came with a smile. The food was delicious and we loved the bottomless tea that comes with the high tea set! 10/10 would come again. Price was $52 per person.

Decently priced high tea compared to other places in the greater Vancouver area. Ambiance is cute, and some details in decor that take you back to the Victorian days. Recommend their secret garden tea, the hints of vanilla in the tea is delicious, but all of their teas are very good!

Came here for a little Wednesday high tea and it was adorable! We paid about $126 for 2 people and left stuffed with half of our food for to-go! We got 4 of everything for the savouries and everything was super filling. Our food was a bit cold which made the pastries a bit stale and dry. BUT - we did bring the food that we couldn't finish back home and when we heated it up it tasted wayyy better! The scones were nice and light where the tarts where warm and buttery. Something I loved about secret garden is that they give you unlimited tea refills and they let you try as many teas as you want. If you and your friends don't want the same flavour, they give you individual pots. How cute is that!

This turned out to be a fantastic choice, since we had the opportunity to have a warm, spontaneous conversation with Wilson Lee, O-Cha owner and active Yaletown business/community member. I had read previous Yelp posts about the Cold Blaster, but instead decided on the Mocha Chai and Alex ordered the Candied Rooibos. Both beverages were outstanding. This is what I call a pocket cafe. Bright counter seating facing Homer, perfect for watching passersby. Of which, Wilson definitely had his regulars while we warmed up in his cafe. Their usual crafted beverage made promptly, a quick exchange, and then that person's back on their way. My question about how long has this shop been in business ended up as a memorable conversation with Wilson. He shared the details about his business, the Yaletown community, social media, travel, urban growth, his hilarious anecdote about his favorite izakaya place on Denman, and a future trip to Asia for a wedding. There was such a rapport, that we were given an open invitation to a community event Friday evening. Sadly, we weren't able to do so since we departed VanBC a day earlier due to snow. We commented on him on our drive home earlier today (2/23/18) that coincidentally we'd pass signage along I-5 South, that would say Wilson. Too cool. Small cafe, but full of warmth and genuine community pride. Yes, I was able to warm up with tasty tea, get free updated maps and travel brochures while there. But left with a lasting impression and the desire to return to Vancouver, BC much sooner than later. Thanks, Wilson! O-Cha Tea Bar in Yaletown - Highly recommended!
