They were very accommodating with dietary restrictions which was amazing because a number of individuals in our group were vegan/vegetarian or didn't eat dairy/pork. I think this place is definitely overrated. The place is really cute and vibey. There is one high tea set you could order and on top of that you can order the type of tea you want separately. I got a mango jasmine tea, which was pretty good. The food and desserts were also decent but not good. Their blueberry pudding was bland and red velvet did not taste like red velvet. The tea was honestly pretty good! We started with the savoury foods at the bottom and made our way up to the sweet and honestly everything that was savoury and the scone was really, really good. The sweet desserts in my opinion were really sub par (too sweet), I ended up skipping two or three of them after one bite. I don't think there was AC in the restaurant so it was extremely warm even with the fans on... but they let us stay for a decent amount of time and left us alone for the most part which was nice. Came here for afternoon tea on a drizzly Saturday. We drove three hours from Seattle, so arrived super hungry. The decor immediately transported us to a different time, where the music plays soft and sweetly and the pace of life slows down. With popping vibrant colors and fine china tea sets, it's no wonder lots of people come in and immediately pull out their phones to capture selfies. The food was delicious. Forget your typical finger sandwiches, everything served is a unique small pop of flavor, vanishing once you've tasted all the layers of flavor. And everything has a bit of tea infused, even the rolls and scones. The tea itself is a bit YMMV. My husband ordered the Tie Guan Yin, which was just delightful. My Dragonwell might have been good (it had beautiful crisp color), but perhaps the flavor was muddied by a cup or kettle that previously held something a bit more pungent -- cloves or cinnamon maybe? Our waitress was friendly and took the time to explain the teas (and also gave us samples of tea leaves to smell), explained all the little bites on the three tiered stand, and ensured all allergies/dietary restrictions were taken into account. She really made our afternoon with her sense of humour and attention to detail. We all agreed she deserved 5 stars/5! The menu offered 3 options: 5 of us ordered the Afternoon Tea (all sweets & savouries with scone) and one ordered Sweet & Savoury Tea (took all savouries as she is not a fan of sweets). Your choice of one type of tea with unlimited hot water refills. The shop opened in 2012 but a few years ago new owners took over and renovated and revamped the menu to reflect season flair and also to infuse the elements of tea into their food. One of the delicious sweets was infused with chai tea and we certainly tasted the spices in the custard cream. A comfortable long blue sofa with marble tables in one section and hot pink double seats in another. The environment is glitzy and fun. As we booked the 3pm seating and also not busy this afternoon, we didn't feel rushed and they even allowed us to linger a bite longer. read more

Compare to couple years ago which was really good, this place really disappointed me now. I recommend my friends to go and felt very embarrassed coz non of us were happy. Some of the food were more like Costco bought but worst of all was the service and the scones in particular. The scones were cold dry and undercooked. Showed to the server, although I cut mine in half to show him, he insisted that they are warm and cooked. He took all 6 of our 6 scones back into the kitchen to warm up, instead of replacing my uncooked one, he gave me back the same cut up scone still undercooked but just warmed. The server (owner) was just too eager. He seems to think he already knows what we to ask and keep cutting us off. I can expect this from a fast food joint but not a high tea place. We came here for a girls high tea for a bridal event and they had everything set up for us ahead of time. They put us in the corner with the lovely pink setting and it was nice to have a little area to ourselves. I ended up choosing the mango tea and it had a lot of flavor. They were accommodating of our food preferences and the sweets and savouries bits were all pretty good. The only complaint would be was that due to the heat wave, it was a bit warm in the cafe and there was no AC. It also was a bit hard for the bride to jump between the tables as we were divided into two tables. Overall a great experience and they allowed us to seat longer than the 90 minutes time period set aside. Would recommend for a date night out or a night out with friends. read more

As a seasoned pro afternoon connoisseur, I was impressed by their wide selection of tea and ambience. It has a very Instagram decor with a great interior. First impression of the food, it was displayed very aesthetically on a large round display. The savourys were tasty and the scone was on the firmer side, but good. The desserts weren't my favourite, but I'm quite picky with my sweets. Service was good, but not fantastic. The server was polite and helpful, but she didn't seem attentive. When the food came, she didn't go over our items, so we went over the menu ourselves. One semi negative experience was parking. They have a wonderful parking lot on the backside, but you have to be buzzed in. The intercom wasn't working and we had to do a few circles in traffic before calling them with our cell phone. When we paid and left, we found out that you also need to be buzzed in to be let back into the parking lot. There was a line forming and we had to cut back inside to ask for instructions. Some information about customer parking would have very helpful. Overall, it was an afternoon worth spending time here and I recommend checking out to see if its your cup of tea. read more

The good: -parking was fine in the neighbourhood. -service was prompt and good. -seating was comfortable. -the egg salad on cracker was pretty good, just very tiny. It seemed to have tahini in the mixture. -scone was warm and good. The so-so (mostly the food): 1. The panna cotta had way too much gelatin. It was the texture of jell-o. Panna cotta should be way creamier and softer. 2. The cream for the scones was not Devonshire or clotted cream. It was cream cheese with that distinctive tang, like Philadelphia. 3. La Petite Cuillere is actually pretty good! Good work little spoon! I should probably mention that I'm English. I grew up having sooo many versions of high tea at home (my mum calls it "trolley tea", and it always involves crumpets). Anyway, I seemed to have stumbled into trying quite a few versions in London, Devon, Ireland etc. I wasn't expecting this to be particularly authentic, so I was pleasantly surprised by home much I enjoyed it. My friend and I shared an early grey cream tea (which tasted like caramel - very different to normal earl grey) as well as a lychee tea that was gorgeous. I loved all the mini cakes and savory options. I think the only bad thing I can think of was the cream for the scones was just very wrong if you're used to clotted cream! They called it "Devon cream" but that tasted nothing like any clotted cream from Cornwall OR Devon. I'm not saying it's bad...just, if you're English, don't expect that part to taste like home. read more

I was excited to try this place after seeing the high rating. I thought it would be a lovely change from a regular coffee shop my friend and I usually opt for, high tea with a number of styles so you could enjoy the experience without spending exorbitant amounts. To be fair the tea itself was very good, and so was the single bite mini scone. I know the point is to have delicate little bites, but this was taking that sentiment to the extreme. I've had some really good high teas in my time, but this certainly wasn't one of them. We walked into what I'd describe as grandma's house, obviously going for a particular style, I was hoping for a more chic setting, old school sure, but not quite this. It didn't help that we were the only ones there and the place was silent. It did fill up a while later though. In a place like Vancouver where I can easily name 5-10 really good bakeries with absolutely delicious cakes, pies, donuts and more, the offerings here fell flat. The 'sandwich' was a mini crostini style disk with 2 slices of cheese and a thin slice of cucumber, I can make something much better at home. There was a tuna tart, again nothing special. The tiny cheesecake was tasty, but ever so small and a bite of choc-peanut butter brownie. It doesn't look like they make any of sweets on site. Perhaps a tea and cupcake or tea and scone set would have been a better option here. I'm in no rush to go back, not with so many other amazing choices around town. If you must have a high tea here, at least the China it's served on is lovely, and I can't fault the tea. read more

Each of us got the following: a tea from their premium loose leaf selection, 2 miniature sweets, 2 finger sandwiches, a mini scone, fruit preserves, and Devonshire cream. We tried their Earl Grey Cream and Mango Green teas. Both were great, the Earl Grey Cream was our favourite though. There were vegetarian options for my friend, but no vegan choices. Just Perfect ! The location is adorable, the decor is very eclectic and old english feeling, without being stuffy. We went for brunch but ended up trying the high tea instead since it looked so cute ! The prices are perfect - 12.50 for high tea, or 24.50 for a full afternoon tea service. The high tea comes with a 2 tier tray and was enough to fill up a person for lunch. Everyone gets their personal tray ! They had a wide selection of teas, and were very accommodating to special requests/substitutions for vegetarians and vegans. Which brings me to the next part - the service was amazing ! The servers were knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and very very polite. You really do get the whole fine tea experience ! I would definitely recommend this place for a girls day out ! We made a reservation for 3pm, we had a large table which fit about 12 and a smaller table that connected to the bigger table the fit the rest, the set up was great no one felt left out just felt like a big table. We all got to choose our own tea, I always get the Earl grey cream so yummy! Pinkys Up!! I love all the great china, feels like your having tea a grandmas place! For you coffee drinkers, they have one French pressed coffee available and you cannot substitute your tea for coffee, it's an additional $5 to your tea set! I also thought that wasn't allowed on Yelp...We waited a lot and the waiter often went outside or was on his phone. The food was good but small portions. It was still filling though. The scones are amazing! We weren't offered more hot water, or cold water, and had to call the waiter over to pay the bill. I heard the people beside us also had asked for more cream and he only brought it to them once they were on desserts, already done the scone that needed the cream. The washroom smelled like poo and needs an air freshener. The waiter was also very close to us and did not wear a face mask during a global pandemic. (I meant to post this last summer when I went) I've walked by this place every day and finally made a reservation for 6 on a Saturday. I was told we'd all have to order the Afternoon tea set (the most expensive on the menu - $35), I needed to give a $100 refundable deposit, and there would be gratuity added. It felt like a lot of rules. One friend is vegetarian, gluten free and asked if she could order off the menu, but was told no, she ended up not coming. My other vegetarian friend wasn't super happy with her options, lots of egg. There was a salad, and shot glass of soup included which we thought was a bit odd for high tea. I liked the selection otherwise, though the sweet items were *very* sweet. It felt like it didn't balance well. I wanted to give them another chance this week and order from the menu, but when I made the reservation for 4 adults, one baby and let them know there would also be a service dog, they said dogs were not allowed. Period. I think this illegal? The service dog is trained & certified and much better behaved than the baby (my baby, so I'm allowed to say that). I will never eat here again. read more

I love a place that is more then meets the eye, and La Petite definitely falls squarely into that category. It's a lovely, ladylike looking room; a haven for the posh and polite. From the beautiful collection of china tea cups, in the beautiful collection of vintage hutches, to the hand-made aprons and fresh flowers - this LOOKS like the kind of place where one dons the little white gloves and gets their dapper on. Which it definitely is, if that's what you seek. But beneath its fancy pants exterior lies a laid back, totally funky cast and crew that quickly turned this into one of my favourite spots in the city. 10 Nerdy Awesome Ninja Facts: 1. They are tea historian nerds (meant in the most flattering sense). The "hodge podge" of artifacts that adorn this little place are actually sneakily & chronologically arranged to create a timeline of the history of tea. 2. It's family owned. And a person in that family constructs all the CRAZY detailed ships in bottles that are scattered about. Nerd points x2. 3. Their macarons are tea infused. And f&$king delicious. 4. If you ask super nicely, they will mix you a lavender rooibos, which is one of the best sleep aids this little insomniac has found. The tea here is totally badass in and of itself, but this particular one is full like a black tea (minus the caffeine) but calming and aromatic from the lavender. 5. They understand the importance of giant super comfy seating. 6. I discovered "water colour tattoos" via a conversation had over a super dainty cup of tea. 7. One of the owners, Huey, is much like the spot itself. She's always in the cutest of dresses but check out her fabulously unexpected tattoos while you get into the sauciest of conversations. I know this woman from a previous job and she's a force to be reckoned with, for sure. 8. Sometimes they make you soup. 9. Their savoury scones are crave worthy. 10. They give back to the community. High tea around the Kingsgate mall area? Huh? That was probably the reaction I have, and what you will have if you have not been to this place. Mostly reserved for places like Kerrisdale, at high end hotels in the downtown core, and even at VanDusen Gardens, not many people would think that a place like this actually exist, yet it does. I was just looking for a place to spend some time with my partner but not like this, and yet we still went in and enjoyed the 'East Side' of Vancouver high tea style! Inside, you have a very pretty place, full of antique furniture, some nice bone China which they use (already you can hear the mellow piano music in the back of your mind while you lift your pinky up while you bring the cup to your lips!) and some very large windows to allow the natural light in. The place feels regal, and yet your looking out to the busy Main street with the lack of BMW's and Mercedes all parked around. Enough with the ambiance and decor, let's get to the food, the order was a pot of English Breakfast, two small apricot/raisin scones with some devonshire cream and we had a vanilla cupcake with rose water icing. "Some tea and biscuits" time indeed, I can say the tea was very good, some square blocks of sugar with it's own tongs, and cream on the side, serve it how you like in the classic China bone tea cup. The scones were especially delicious, whether or not you used the devonshire cream, these things just had a certain bite to them. The not overly powered fruity taste paired with a scone, in the mini sizes they offered was just perfect, monster sized things don't go well in a tea house! The last piece of food that came to our table was the vanilla cupcake and rose water icing, it was pretty to look at, it just had a weird taste when you mixed the icing and the cakey part. I saw my partner's face all scrunchy, yet she couldn't figure out what kind of taste she just had, and finally said it taste like soap. I had to try this, and she was right, on their own, the icing tasted great, and the cupcake was moist, and done well, when mixed, it gave an interesting reaction where it brought you back to the days you were young and you would wash excessively with soup, even on your mouth, and if you didn't wash clean enough, you probably ended up with some soap suds in your mouth, and that taste is definitely memorable. Amazing enough as that is, somehow this mixture of taste would go down more smoothly if you drank the tea and washed this cupcake down. If your in the area, and don't want to cart your butt to anywhere farther for this kind of experience, you are in luck. They don't make their pastries in house, but that should not deter you, as the stuff in here is pretty good, and tea time is resonably priced. Something good and different for the area. read more

The tea items were delicious and the staff were very accommodating making switches for dietary restrictions/allergies. The high tea menu was well balanced with sweet and savory items. The scones were perfect. The staff kept our tea pots warm and were very informative regarding tea selection and menu options. We didn't feel rushed and lingered over tea and sweets. This place is a nice hidden given, even thought it's right on a busy street. I think the high tea menu is a good price considering the selection/variety available. Definitely will be back again. Walked by this place after buying macarons at the French Made Bakery just a few doors down. We thought it would be too expensive to go to since it looked so nice inside. However when the sandwich board said $3.75 for a pot of tea AND had a gluten-free cupcake on the menu, we decided to go in. The employees were very friendly and attentive. Their prices for high tea/afternoon tea are much more reasonable than other places I've been to. $24.95 for afternoon tea and $12.95 for high tea seemed like very fair prices. The decor was super cute with assorted tea pots, tea cups, and even ships. Very nice atmosphere. We ordered a pot of English Breakfast, a pot of Mango Green tea and the gluten-free cheesecake (chocolate) and gluten-free cupcake (apple spice). The cheesecake was really good, but I found the cupcake to be a bit hard- I don't think I'd order this again. Overall, great experience, friendly staff and great prices. read more
