Avocado toast with egg and sausage and salty honey latte
    Brittany B.

Came in with my husband and kids for a late breakfast. The atmosphere was laid back and very comfortable, with plenty of eclectic seating to suit your needs. The pastries looked amazing, but we ordered the avocado toast with sausage and egg, as well as a cinny toast for our toddler. I also ordered a salty honey latte which was really good, and got a cherry almond latte to go. Overall the food was good, and I loved that all their waste is compostable. Best part? They even had several small kids tables with activities! Service was really fast, and there was almost no wait time!

Kicking off 2026 with my first review and my wife and I wanted to check out a new coffee spot to us. Second Rodeo had just posted their seasonal drink on social media as being Black Forest with chocolate and cherry that could my eye. Second Rodeo is women-owned and a very welcoming space so huge positives there. Like some others I was surprised by how large their space was. Seating options are also vast in what felt like they picked up a variety of vintage furniture along some normal tables/chairs. While most of it did not feel cohesion or of the same vibe I think it works extremely well for what they are going for. Workers were very friendly and did give an accurate estimate of our wait due to being busy which I appreciated. Drink wise they have most of the options you would expect a local shop to have now. My wife got the iced version of their Black Forest Latte. I went with an iced Peppermint Mocha Latte. Both drinks lacked the amount of flavor we expected and thought they were more watery than we had hoped. Due to this and being about half an hour away from us not sure how quickly we will return. If it were local to our area I suspect we would return often enough due to the welcoming and inviting vibes which I'm sure they have many local regulars. If we do return I'll give a hot drink a try in hopes of being better. Do visit this spot though to give them a fair try!

This is absolutely someone's favorite "neigh"borhod coffee shop! Proudly queer, woman owned, and community-minded, Second Rodeo Coffee located in Ferry Village serves up coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, made-to-order breakfast sandwiches, and more. Things I love: + The space. It's so much bigger than you think it is from the outside! It's warm and whimsical, and there are seating styles for everyone. Comfy chairs and couches, tables, barstools at the wall, a built-in booth area with loads of pillows, even mini desk-like areas. It doesn't matter if you're working, reading, catching up with friends, or having a meeting, there is a spot for you! + The staff. So friendly, so genuine, so patient, so welcoming! As my fellow Yelper Amaury J wrote, "no pretentious, stuffy coffee shop energy here". + The Avocado Toast. Now, admittedly, I've never had it. But I've seen a few people get it and every time I want to be *that person* who asks if I can take a photo of it because WOW does it seem generous in size! Things I'm underwhelmed by: - I wish they were using a local coffee roaster instead of Vivid Coffee from Vermont. Segue... - The iced coffee and iced lattes are, as my fellow Yelper Aitana B wrote, "not my favorite in the area". In my experience, the iced coffee has seemed watered down somehow; the iced lattes have been very milky (I'd never seen a latte so pale before). - A dollar upcharge on oat milk/only oat milk available. I like this place! It's not my favorite in the area, but I can totally see why it might be yours.

I got a vanilla matcha latte and it was pretty good. The ambiance was nice too. However the baristas weren't very welcoming and hardly said a word to us

Visited for the first time today with a friend after a morning run. I hadn't heard of this place yet, so I obviously had to come see it! There was a cold water plunge event nearby, so lots of people visited here after the event. 1. Ambiance - beautiful, whimsical, bright! Think pink pony club but a soft cafe version. I love the art, and the pastel decoration. Lots of natural lighting and seating indoors. 2. Food - They make creative sandwiches, but we split a pastry for a late breakfast. We got it warmed up and it was a tasty treat. 3. Drinks - Both of us got matcha lattes. Not my favorite matcha in the area. The were pretty clumpy, so we didn't finish the bottom portion of the drink. Top part was nice! It's only fair that I come back to try coffee since that's what they're focused on. Overall I liked this place. I'll probably come back just to sit and read or grab a latte to walk on the greenway with. I hope the matcha lattes improve, but everyone else seemed really happy with their coffees so I'll try that next time.

This place is everything. Come for the coffee and food, stay for the whimsical, cozy vibe that just pulls you in. Neighborhood coffee shops always have my heart, and Second Rodeo Coffee is no exception. I could've easily spent the entire day there, book in hand, sipping on their delicious coffee. The staff was so warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in -- no pretentious, stuffy coffee shop energy here. The seating options were amazing, with everything from couches to benches to tables, making it so easy (too easy?) to settle in and get comfortable. The coffee was fantastic. The food was delicious. I had the breakfast egg sandwich with waffles as the bread (yes, waffles!), and I'm already plotting my return for another. What a great addition to South Portland!

Looooooved Second Rodeo. Amazing, cowgirl-themed decor, women and queer owned, great vibes. Friendly staff. A super thoughtful space with a small but mighty menu. I might avoid the nondairy milk next time, but other than that, I was wowed by this coffee shop! Incredibly homey and utterly cool. What a gem in SoPo!

They advertise themselves as all day cafe/bar and market. The vibes were perfect with an overall cozy and welcoming feel. It seemed like a spot many regulars come to often as the workers appeared to know many people who came through! They have a bar with roughly 8 seats, along with some tables. With the back of the store having goodies to buy including candles, self-care items, wines, drinks, and more. Worth browsing before or after your drinks and food. We snagged two bar stools and were immediately greeted and served water along with a menu. All three staff members were friendly and made us feel welcome. Drink wise my wife got an iced mocha while I saw their drink special of the month on social media and had to try it. Named The Blue Rose with Butterfly pea flower, cardamom rose, whole milk, pebble ice and espresso on top. A photo-worthy beverage with a delicious flavor. I would keep coming back for this drink for sure if it were a permanent menu item! Food wise my wife and I both got a breakfast sandwich, only difference she got bacon while I got the impossible sausage. Well made and delicious sandwiches that would make us return as well. I do wish they would have been a little bigger though. If our visit today was any indication of the typical my wife and I would gladly return! We decided to come here for coffee and snacks before heading to the park for the morning with our toddler. We arrived around 9:30am and must've gotten lucky bc we walked right up to the bar and were helped by a super friendly gal and ordered coffees, a few pastries from their display case (I got a huge chocolate chip cookie cup stuffed with Nutella for later) and my husband ordered the Pastrami on Rye sandwich to go. We sat and waited about 15 minutes and watched the crowd grow as about 20 people came into order to go drinks and snacks and a few chose to sit at the patio tables out front for dine in. By the time we left they were warning folks that the kitchen was taking about 45 minutes for food bc of so many orders at once and take out. It's charming inside, with a large bar area with about 15 bar seats, and a few small tables. Cute decor on the walls all Duck-themed and friendly staff who were really bustling. Of note: the Pastrami sandwich my husband ordered was AMAZING. One of the top ones he's had and he orders them everywhere. The pastrami was hot and fresh and the rye was perfectly toasted. My 2-year old loved it. Ha! They have a nice menu of food items inside - with sandwiches, specials, and lunch/dinner options it looked like. I also figured I'd get another sandwich too so I went with the Pastrami on Rye. Unfortunately they did not have any Pastrami available so I will say I panicked a little and ordered the BLT. I took a bit to get our food but they were busy so I et that. Once home I got into the Yinzer first. Let me tell you this thing was saucy but I like it that way. I will say I was a big fan of the English Muffin, probably on of the best I have had. I also had plenty of Chipped Ham which was rather tasty. Now the BLT I wasn't the biggest fan of. I guess I'm just not a big fan of a breakfast sandwich with veggies on it. Just didn't work for me. Would for sure come back if I was in town again because they have a lot of tasty sounding sandwiches.
