Sweet Life, to me, is like coming home…read more While growing up, we'd come here after pretty much anything positive to celebrate. Then, for years it was one of two places I both wanted to go to and take people to experience each time I visited. Now that I live here again, I strangely only get delivery. However, even saying the name brings on a childish grin (and possibly happy tears) to my eyes! It doesn't hurt that their key lime tart is my favorite dessert not called sorbet of all time. Oh, yes, they also have sorbet, and while it isn't on Wanderlust's level, I don't care. They execute every single thing with a level of precision and care that you just don't see often, and somehow do it in a way that feels welcoming! Thank you, Sweet Life, thank you.

Can't believe this is a patisserie in the States. They have so many beautiful and delicate sweets…read morethat could totally be seen in a patisserie in Tokyo or Hong Kong. I got the tiramisu and two pieces of chocolate. The tiramisu was a bit different from the ones made with ladyfingers. I think this one was made with chiffon cake instead, so the texture was a little bit dry for my liking. The flavor was good though, more on the chocolate side. I liked the earl grey chocolate, but man, I couldn't stand the little yellow dots on it. They reminded me of those little eggs from some insect that lays eggs on your clothes in the summer. The earl grey filling was nice, smooth and citrusy. The passionfruit chocolate was really cute, kinda had the look of a quail egg shell. The filling was a bit more sour compared to the earl grey one. But in general both chocolates were quite similar. My partner had the zucchini pound cake, and he loved it a lot. I don't know much about Eugene, as we were just passing through on our road trip, but I'd definitely recommend people come here when they visit Eugene.

We went into Noisette Pastry Kitchen to take a quick looksee and told them we would be back after…read morelunch. They probably didn't believe us, but we are people of our word (when it comes to food, anyway). I was vascillating between the croissant and the palmier. I agonized over getting the croissant or the palmier. I couldn't get both because I was too full from our Cuban lunch. "Save one for later", one might say. To that I say, "Pshaw". My SO put me out of my self imposed misery by ordering a croissant, which afforded me the opportunity to get the palmier. Palmiers are one of my favorite pastries/cookies (which one is it?). My SO once bought me a half burnt palmier and I quickly ate it without one compaint. I never buy those containers of mini palmiers at Costco because they would be gone very quickly and I would feel very guilty. I know my palmiers. Croissants, on the other hand, are how I judge a bakery, if they happen to make croissants. I don't think I'm super snobby, but I know a good croissant when I eat one (good for me, anyway). Noisette's croissant had buttery flaky layers on the outside with a moist and tender inside. This was as awesome as a croissant gets. The palmier was different from any other I've had. It was almost one inch thick (which is about twice as thick as your standard bakery palmier). The innermost layers were slightly tender, sort of like the inside of a croissant, but not quite. What a wonderful and new experience in eating my beloved palmier. Thank you Noisette's. Oh yeah, all the other pastries and food looked pretty darn good too, haha. Please keep this place in business for the next time we're back in Eugene.

I found this place on Yelp, which seemed promising, but we had a mediocre experience…read more The place was slammed on a Sunday and the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. Chairs and stools are metal/wood - does not appear to be a cafe you spend a long time relaxing. We grabbed 3 pastries/baked goods. The tomato galette was tasty, but very watery in the middle. Our hand pie was very cold in the center, but we suffered through it. The little almond brown butter cake thing was great. I would go early on a weekday if ever again.

We're talking early 80s... a whole different world. You had folks still hanging on to the 70s like it owed them money bell-bottoms, wild personalities, and people that were just downright funny without even trying. I swear, half the entertainment wasn't even the ice cream, it was just sitting there watching humanity stroll by in all its glory. But let's not get it twisted the ice cream absolutely hits the spot. This is that soul food for the student grind. When studying runs too long, when the day's been rough, when the Oregon heat sneaks up on you, or when you just need a little reset... this is the place. Scoop after scoop, flavor after flavor, it never lets you down. And being right there by the University of Oregon? Come on. There's just something about grabbing a cone on campus that feels right. Timeless. Like it belongs there. Customer service has always been solid, the vibe is iconic, and the whole place carries this charm that refuses to fade. Some things change over the years... this place just keeps being exactly what it should be. Five stars. Always has been. Go Ducks !!
