My teen suffered from major depression that was resistant to treatment. Dr. Adams helped guide our family as we explored the remaining options and weighed the pros and cons of the treatment options. He was available and responsive, and his staff were helpful as well. My teen did well for about 2 years following treatment before suffering another episode. The team rallied quickly to help, and we were able to turn things around much more quickly. My young adult is now thriving and in such a better space. I cannot recommend this business highly enough!! I was referred here to seek TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) treatment for Major Depressive Disorder. Every single contact I have had with SeattleNTC, from the initial phone call arranging my intake, to the intake interviewer, to the scheduling coordinator who had to work with my schedule to fit in 5 appointments a week, to every single tech who has provided treatment, all of them have been wonderful. And I mean above and beyond professional and courteous. I accidentally forgot the cap I need for each treatment at the Seattle clinic and was scheduled to begin receiving my treatments at the Bellevue clinic starting the next day. They arranged to have one of the techs bring it to the Bellevue clinic so that I wouldn't have to drive from Redmond to get it!! Today, they were able to squeeze my treatment in an hour early, so I could get home before the snow got worse. And everyone seems to legitimately like working here. So nice and friendly! Dr. Bess is very easy to talk with, he is not Intimidating, he listens very well (in fact, I have had to tell myself to shut up several times, so I could let him speak) during every interaction I've had with him. I have not been rushed, he has not been rushed, he is calm and empathetic. Not scary at all. I felt very good after my conversations with him all four times. I've been a patient at seattle NTC since 2019. I have a complicated medical history due to several chronic illnesses including history of brain surgery and treatment resistant major depression with SI. Before coming to seattle NTC I tried almost every antidepressant (that doesn't cause seizures) without much help. Dr Allen is so knowledgeable, kind, and patient! I really like her and thanks to her & spravato my depression (SI is almost non existent) and anxiety are mostly manageable now! My experience is specifically with ECT at the Ballard location. I came to Seattle NTC after trying a number of other treatment options and nothing has really had a long-term effect. I knew that ECT was not easy but had hoped it would be the breakthrough treatment. My first treatment was ROUGH. The nurse poked me in such a way during the IV placement that blood gushed everywhere and my bedsheets had to be changed. The doctor that did the treatment was not the main doctor that I worked with and so I didn't see a single familiar face. I woke up walking down the hall post-op with no discharge paperwork and in a great deal of pain (it felt like someone had taken a baseball bat to the right side of my face). The nurses left the ECG stickers on me and my partner had to help me remove them when I got home. I had no information about what had happened or whom to contact. I chose to go back because I was at the end of my rope and hoped that maybe in time things would get better. In the 19 treatments that I received, I found that the Ballard location is overwhelmed and takes on too many patients. You only get 20 minutes for treatment and once I overheard a nurse saying they had '23 patients to treat that day' When I asked for information about the medications I was being given the nurses and doctors were often frustrated that I asked. At one point a doctor told me 'patients don't ask those types of questions'. The claimed 'one on one nurse care' during recovery is not true. During my last treatment, I woke up in a room with 3 other patients all of us in different phases of recovery. The designated drivers for some people were also in the room. I can't tell you how disorienting it is to wake up confused in a room full of strangers and then have to go wait in line to talk to someone at the front desk. I also experienced a number of medical mistakes. Everything from typos about the dosage of medication I was given to being given the wrong meds under anesthesia. (I ended up reporting that doctor to DOH) I eventually ended treatment because the chaos and fear that I experienced during my treatments became too much, and the trauma that I experienced during my time with Seattle NTC haunted me for months afterward. At one point, I was having panic attacks just seeing a hospital setting on TV. If you do choose to get treatment with Seattle NTC, I recommend asking LOTS of questions. They are incredibly busy and will probably forget something. ECT is an EXTREME and INTENSE treatment. These are some of the things the doctors were not fully truthful about: -This treatment hurts! My head and jaw hurt for at least 48 hours post-op. I had blown veins and bruises from the number of IVs required. Also, the medication used to put me to sleep was alcohol-based. So imagine the sting/pain of having alcohol poured on a cut but now being injected into your entire body. -This treatment is expensive! Taking time off work to heal is a luxury that only the wealthy have. This treatment takes much longer than the 5 weeks claimed on the website. I had to return to work full time during treatments because I ran out of money. -This treatment takes a LONG time to heal from. It took a full month after ending treatment before my physical and memory capacity got back to almost normal. -This treatment involves a LOT of medications! One of the reasons I chose to pursue ECT was because it was advertised as an alternative for people who could not tolerate medication. What the doctors failed to mention was the long list of meds they give you during treatment (painkiller before, IV, meds to put you to sleep, muscle relaxers, more pain medicine, and a controlled substance for the anxiety post-op) Honestly, I wish I had never heard of Seattle NTC. My life got so much worse due to this experience. read more

By the time I got to Seattle NTC in January, 2021, I was in a pretty desperate state. I had become severely depressed starting in the Spring of 2020. I tried a variety of antidepressants as well as ketamine. Nothing seemed to help. My diagnosis was treatment resistant depression. I had been hospitalized three times for malnutrition and dehydration. I weighted 89 lbs. (versus my normal 115 lbs.) I can truly say that ECT saved me. The staff at NTC were professional and very caring. I felt seen and supported. I think it can be scary to contemplate ECT. Some of us still remember, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest!" Fortunately you are under anesthesia when treatment is administered. I felt nothing and because of the calm reassurance of the staff, never felt scared. After just three treatments, I began to respond. It took many more treatments for me to be able to fully reclaim myself. I found the care provided at Seattle NTC to be excellent and beyond helpful. I was struggling with severe depression and suicidal to a level that was scary to myself and those who love me. I received twelve weeks of three-times-weekly treatments. I must admit I was nervous about the treatment but I didn't need to be. All of my fears were addressed and I began treatment with the reassurance that the side effects were minimal and temporary. My treatment was three times a week and each time I was treated with the utmost care and professionalism . To say my treatment worked is an understatement. I am no longer suicidal. At all. In fact the only time I think about it is when the thought crosses my mind how nice it is to no longer be in that space anymore. I'm not scared to be alone. I'm not afraid of my own thoughts. I trust myself to make healthier decisions. I still ask those around me for guidance and have some pretty challenging memory issues but they are improving with time. Seattle NTC (SNTC) provides a broad range of top notch, world class mental health services. A relative has made extensive use of SNTC's services over a period of more than four years to address severe treatment resistant depression and anxiety. My relative worked most closely with Dr. Jesse Adams, one of the team of psychiatrists with this mental health services clinic. Dr. Adams guided my relative/his patient through a sequence of extensive efforts and different therapies with the consistent goal of bringing them relief from their depression and anxiety. Beginning first with a series of anti-depressant medications--none of which yielded the desired results--Dr. Adams subsequently shepherded his patient through additional treatment regimens such as trans-cranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), Esketamine, and ultimately electro-convulsive therapy (ECT). ECT proved to be the therapy that finally offered my relative their long-sought relief from depression. Dr. Adams was extremely engaged, empathetic, supportive, encouraging, and informative all along the way. He clearly explained all the different treatment options to his patient each time the latest approach did not yield the desired results, and he consistently was excellent about welcoming and responding to questions every step of the way. He also went above and beyond with my relative's insurance company when there initially were coverage issues and complications. What otherwise would have been two very significant financial burdens on my relative were overcome thanks to Dr. Adams' compassionate and determined intervention based on his very genuine concern for his patient. My relative has worked with a large number of mental health professionals over many years, but none is held in as high regard as Dr. Adams. This relative has advised that they trust Dr. Adams completely as a psychiatrist, and I do not believe it is an exaggeration to say that Dr. Adams saved my relative's life. Although I have not been privy to nearly as many first hand accounts about other SNTC psychiatrists as I have about Dr. Adams, my relative highlighted very positive experiences they have had with two other SNTC psychiatrists who served as psychiatrists and treatment back ups on rare occasions when Dr. Adams was diverted by urgent SNTC matters: namely, Dr. Leigh Brown and Dr. Joshua Bess. The greater Seattle metro area is extremely fortunate to have such a superb, top tier, full services mental health clinic as SNTC.
