What really bothered me was his attitude about my weight. I was there to talk about my mood and his comments only made me feel worse. He literally told me I would have a hard time dating and finding love because men won't want me due to my weight. That input only makes me feel bad. It does not motivate me to lose weight. Which... I have been working on. Said right there in my chart that I lost 20 lbs recently. His comment was hurtful and not even necessary. He also told me he assumed I had sleep apnea because he thought he heard me wheeze. He didn't listen to my lungs with a stethoscope or anything. He basically just insinuated that I was so fat and unhealthy that I was audibly breathing poorly from across the room. Please note my actual medical doctor who sees me for my medical stuff has never given me any of this feedback. I am totally healthy. I've never been told that I've wheezed by anyone who listened to me with a stethoscope or anyone else ever. He was literally 4 feet away from me. He also started trying to pick out antidepressants for me before I even had the opportunity to tell him what I had tried in the past. I won't be going back. I would not recommend this provider for anyone who is even slightly overweight. His fat phobia prevents him from giving good care. Update 2018: This remains the single worst health related experience I've ever had. I cringe every time I drive past the building. I'm sad to see he is still on the staff there. I cant think of a worse time for an older white male bully a younger woman about her size than when she is reaching out for mental health support. A detail I didn't add when I wrote this review is that my therapist had left him a long voicemail about a week before the appointment and he hadn't listened to any of it. He literally knew nothing about me when he sat across from me and trashed my body my life and my health and then started making recommendations. It really traumatized me. Years later I could cry thinking about how this man treated me.

Dr. Muller is very committed to helping his patients, long term or not. He was supposed retire from practice at PacMed about ten years ago, but decided to return to practicing, in a private office with another doctor, after receiving many patients' requests not to leave them. He will sometimes see patients after normal office hours;or will return calls himself, even after gaps in hearing from me, and tolerates my issues with lateness. He once walked from his office several blocks away to Harborview, where some young resident was trying to label me "delusional" without good cause. Dr. Muller told them that he had never known me to be so, during almost fifteen years of seeing me. At that time, he also called family members, (as well as another psychiatrist who works for the state), to find out what was going on. He has very calm, respectful and understanding manner, talking you like a friend or family member--with none of the pat, leading phrases that therapists often use such as, 'So how did that make you feel?", etc. I

My experience with this psychiatrist was very disappointing, and I ultimately would not recommend…read moreher. My biggest concern was medication safety and informed consent. I was prescribed antipsychotic medication without being told about its potential bleeding risk. I was also taking NSAIDs, which can increase bleeding risk, and I later experienced a very severe nosebleed that was alarming enough that I nearly had to miss work. I understand that I cannot say for certain that the medication caused the nosebleed, but I strongly believe that I should have been informed about the potential bleeding risk and possible medication interactions before taking it. Patients deserve to understand the significant risks associated with the medications they are prescribed. I was also prescribed a very large number of psychiatric medications over the course of my treatment. While some were helpful, many were not, and I often felt that medications were being added or changed without enough consideration of whether the overall treatment plan was actually working for me. I would have preferred a more thoughtful and measured approach to medication management. Another major concern was that she recommended a GLP-1 medication for weight loss completely unprompted. I had never expressed a desire to lose weight or asked about weight-loss medication. At that point, she had not had a conversation with me about my weight, eating habits, or goals that would have led me to believe weight loss was something I wanted to pursue. I already knew I had an eating disorder, although I had not disclosed that to her yet, so I understand that she could not have known about it. However, I still found it inappropriate and upsetting to have weight loss brought up and a weight-loss medication recommended when I had never indicated that was something I wanted or needed. And also had only seen my face at that point and was basing a need for weight loss on that alone. I also had a very frustrating experience when I needed paperwork completed for a leave of absence. The paperwork was delayed, and as a result, my payments were not received on time. When I contacted the office about the delay, I was told that the paperwork had been submitted on time, despite the fact that I had already explained that I had not received my payments on time. I found the response dismissive rather than helpful. Overall, while some aspects of my treatment were helpful, I felt that important parts of my care were handled without enough communication, consideration, or attention to my individual circumstances. The medication safety concerns in particular were serious enough that I ultimately lost confidence in my care. I would not recommend this provider based on my experience.
