I had an evaluation appt a couple years ago that I am still receiving a bill for. Evaluations are covered by my insurance, but Doron coded my visit as family therapy, which my ins does not cover. After our only meeting, he said he did not provide the services that I needed, and wished me luck to find a different therapist. He does not want me as a client, but almost three years later I still get a $300 bill for being told to look elsewhere. read more

I switched care to Dr. Raphaely recently and have seen him twice. I could not be more happier! He is very attentive and an active listener. He also is very thorough when explaining things and takes all the time needed to make sure his patient understands his point of view. He does not force his opinions - rather he invites the patient to consider alternatives and talk through them. He is very balanced in his critique (I.e. when reviewing care from my previous provider). He is very personable and has a great sense of humor. Just talking to him feels therapeutic and I walk away from each appointment energized! I would definitely place him in the top 1% of doctors! read more

I saw him years ago but my time with him was so productive. I still think about some of his wise counsel. I am stunned that there are some bad reviews here. I would say to consider the source. This is a tough profession and all of us can feel fragile and victimized at times. My experience was very helpful. Chilly, judgmental and unkind. I was severely depressed after my husband died, had to retire from my job, and in major pain for two years following spinal fusion surgery. He told me I was "not a likeable person" -- and I have to pay him for that? One of the reviews said that it all depends on "whether he likes you." Well, he didn't like me, because I was too depressed. Also said he only did "medication management," not talk therapy, when I needed both. Another review said he 'had a great sense of humor,' but nothing could be further from my experience -- he was grim and basically hostile. Don't go there if you are feeling weak or vulnerable -- he dislikes 'people like that.' read more

I'm pretty surprised that Dr. Raphaely is at 3 stars only. Reading the past 1 star review really surprised me as that does not sound like him at all. If he did say anything of the sort, it either was not intended as it has been interpreted or there must have been a reason behind what he said as true. Either way, I don't really believe Dr. Raphaely would say anything to that end -- based on his mindfulness background I would find that very contradicting to his style. That said, my experience with Dr. Raphaely has been nothing but positive. I only go in sparsely for 30 minute sessions, but even in those 30 minutes I find we cover a lot of material. Not only has he been very patient with trying to figure out an appropriate medication to prescribe and cautious with going overboard, he's also been fantastic for his words of encouragement and lessons. He really practices what he preaches, and gives some very good reading material if you ever want to follow up on what he practices. Kisha-Marie, the fine young lady managing his and another doctor's schedules, is fantastic, too. I've never had any problems rescheduling or getting information from her when I've lost mine, or basically anything, and she's just a sweetheart about it. Fantastic place, highly recommended. My only qualm would be that the voicemail should indicate their hours of operation, but that does not warrant less than 5. read more

I saw Dr. Raphaely years ago and found him to be kind and an active listener. He has a great foundation in Jungian theory (a framework that makes sense to me). I found his therapy style to be intellectual and analytical, but presented in a warm way. I always felt like he cared about me, I felt safe to open up. It was so convenient to be able to get talk therapy and prescription management with the same person. He helped fine-tune my meds and was able to help me work around the side effects. I recommend him, especially to others that have a more analytical approach to their feelings and inner life. Do you know Myers-Briggs? Dr. Raphaely is especially good for female NTs.(My female INTJ friend recommended him to me.) The ratings here with just 1 star really surprised me. Dr. Raphaely has a good reputation amongst the psychiatric community of Seattle. Perhaps there is some transference going on (where you see your own feelings projected onto the therapist)? Anyhow, selecting a therapist is tricky. Not every therapist is right for every person. If it's not a good fit for you, keep trying! read more

I have been seeing Dr. Raphaely for years now. He is an awesome psychiatrist. There have been plenty times after hours when I needed help due to a pharmacy screw up. Or times when I would have to om is call his after hours number and he will get right on it and fix it. Also about a year an and half ago when my dad died I didn't know he was out of town and I emailed him letting him know that my dad had passed and my anxiety was through the roof and I didn't know what was said to her what we could do because I thought they didn't function. So he increased my medication just for that short time I was going through the worst period of my life! Come to find when I sent him that email he was half way around the world in France on vacation when he responded to my need for help! It's good to see the Yelp stopped screening the 1-star posts for this guy. I have bipolar disorder. It's been under control for 2 years now - -but only after I crashed and burned and ended up in the psych ward at Swedish. That's while I was seeing Dr. R -- who then ridiculed me for checking in (I was having a mixed episode and my friends were terrified), told me I didn't have a biochemical problem, I have a psychological one, and refused to prescribe me the lithium that stabilized me at the hospital. Yeah. He's *that* bad. When I first started seeing him I was writing up my Master's thesis. I'm from a very poor family and was the first to go to college at all. He proclaimed me one of "those people" who puts very little effort into life and expects big results back. That was at our first visit. I was so incredibly depressed he could have told me I was a big pile of shit and I would have believed him so I didn't see this as a huge red flag of his bizarre ego and presumptions. Anyway, since the hospitalization, graduated, got a great job with bennies, stayed on lithium and stayed stable, found a way better living situation, and started a new relationship. Thanks to appropriate diagnosis and medication, which Dr. R could not provide, and resented when it was given to me. read more

This guy is a complete whack job. Please skip his business and go elsewhere. He treated both my wife and I. He didn't answer his phone all weekend when I was having a medication crisis related to my anxiety. So I obviously wrote him and email saying I felt neglected and very upset. His response was some bullshit excuse and did not apologize, nor justify his actions. I didn't plan to see him again, but I asked for a few more refills by phone until I could find someone else. He refilled it twice, then said I needed to come in. This is a year later. So I come in and he was reading my file while I was there and begun to VERBALLY ATTACK ME. It was ludicrous. I told him I wasn't there to talk about that. He started being sarcastic and rude and I asked him why. He said because he doesn't want me as a patient. I stood up for myself and told him my email is justified because he was neglectful. He was berating me for not being the kind of "patient he wants to have." I said I was managing my anxiety with meditation and didn't want to take a bunch of pills. He said I was neglectful and wasn't taking care of myself. He prescribed for me to take three kolanapin a day. I wouldn't be able to function at that dosage and just take it for emergencies So i said fine and left. He offered to not charge my insurance for the session, but I still got the bill in the mail. He is a narcissistic jerk, and I would never return. If not wanting to take a bunch of pills is being not the kind of client he wants, then I don't want to work with him. This guy just wants to prescribe pills and doesn't seem to be interested in helping you. read more

HORRIBLE psychiatrist. I was seeking some help and I ended up having a very traumatic and devastating experience with this doctor. He hurt me emotionally and psychologically harmed me instead of helping me. I wouldn't want anyone to experience the discrimination and rude treatment that I experienced with Dr. Raphaely. I felt the doctor did not treat me in a respectful or professional way. My main problem was his lack of responsiveness to phone calls. I rarely heard back from him. Since I was a new patient and was on new powerful medication I felt he had a responsibility to check in with me. I tried calling him to ask that I switch meds and all I got were jokes. I have dropped my meds and have made an appointment to see a new doctor with the intent of getting back on meds that will work for me. read more
